1883 is one of the best Westerns I have ever seen, and I love me a Western.
At first the airy ethereal narration seems a hinderance until you realise that without it the show would be far too grim and gritty. The daughter is incredibly beautiful, reminds me of Jennifer Lawrence. |
I watched the first episode of 1883, and I want more.
|
Mate it gets even better if you can actually believe it.
I mean the first episode is stuffed with goodies but the season itself is basically an excuse for Sam Elliot to do fucking incredible monologues every other episode. 4/4 |
Watched episodes 2 and 3 of 1883.
Goddamn, this is some top drawer television. I'm loving all of it. |
Wait til you get to the speech about chopping down trees with gunfire

Righteous Gemstones season 2 so funny... great show, highly recommended,
|
Just started Raised By Wolves season 2. Really captivating show. Hate the theme song with a passion, though.
|
Started watching Peacemaker. John Cena is such a strange fella.
|
1883 wrapped up and it’s just fucking beautiful.
|
Tim McGraw is so cool.
I’m going to listen to some of his music and hope it also rules. |
i was a huge fan of "don't take the girl" in 1994. i can't speak to much more than that.

Cry probably.
It’s a heavy one. I mean it. |
I’ll have to watch Yellowstone now but that was absolutely, far and away the most enjoyable Western tv series I have ever seen.
Brilliant. |
Righteous gemstones is funny but nothing will top vice principals...
|
Might rewatch that, remember it being so funny...

Police Interceptors on 5 Action

1883
The show is so goddamn bleak, but it is bloody beautiful at the same time (and not just because Isabel May is ridiculously pretty). The show is top-drawer. I've read that more episodes are going to be made, but I hope they don't. They should let that series stand as it is: as a testament of how good television can be. |
Absolutely.
They should leave that as a one-off. It deserves to stay perfect forever. |
never heard of it, might check it out... seems highly regarded

Peacemaker has been very enjoyable so far and it's done a great job of accentuating Cena's goofy sense of humor.
|
Banshee was incredible.
A truly excellent action serial. |
Done with Peacemaker.
Will need something new to fill the void |
Watching Wu-Tang: An American Saga. Mostly as a background show. Good fun.
|
Watched the finale of Batwoman S3.... I've come to actually like the show a lot after they replaced the main character.....
|
Watched the finale of Legends of Tomorrow S7.... still a good show, not as good as it used to be, and getting worse every season as they lose characters....
SPOILER: show |
Considering watching that Jason Bateman Netflix show…looks promising
|
Ozark?
Fuckin do it. |
New South Park episode was tremendous.

Did you seriously just tell Dave to watch the bleakest, saddest Western the market has offered in decades?
You’ll send him on a fucking bender. |
It is great TV but it is deliberately beautiful and then horrific in such brilliant quantities that you have to admire it.
It’s written with love and real understanding of how episodic writing should be done. That daughter was so purrty… |
spoilers, SOB
|
I’ll spoil your fucking face in a minute.
|
...and eat McDonalds while doing so.
|
Schitt’s Creek grabbed me forever when Moira Rose did the fruit wine commercial.
That is genuinely brilliant comedy. Catherine O’Hara is an improv God though so what did I expect. Her and Eugene Levy together in Christopher Guest films always feels like cheating. It’s a guaranteed laugh every single time. I’m fucking angry at myself, Supreme. What was I afraid of? |

He’s right though.
Obviously now I realise Dan Levy is a comedic genius just like his father but at first, he put me off the show. |
He's such a great butt-of-the-joke character.
|
That’s a bigoted remark about a Gaiman.
|
Eugene Levy’s speech in the restaurant at the end of season two is beautiful man.
Funny stuff with a big heart. It’s all coming together. I bet season 3 is even better. This is now up there with The Office. I’m saying it. It has big fucking balls for a comedy that looks safe. There’s an episode about how nude leaks are a good thing(but only if you are old and the nudes are really too class from your younger years). Smart, excellent performance comedy. |
All down to two anchoring performances by the best two improv-comics in the game.
|
Season three is great. Typical.
The best part so far is the bad motel review episode. That’s just gravy all over my mashed potatoes. |
Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, and Chris Elliott are all time comedic talents. But what really sets this show over the top are that the rest of the ensemble is great too.
|
Righteous Gemstones is good... that guy has played the same character in like 3 straight shows though and I think at this point they've gotta move away from saying stuff like "doing jackoffs" even though it's funny
|
Danny McBride was funny for a while but he’s essentially what you get when a Rob Riggle or David Koechner gets put in the starring role.
|
I’m going to give Doom Patrol a proper go.
Starting from the beginning again. Tudyk deserve it. |
Ohhhhh yeah, I still need to finish S3
|
It’s pretty good but it’s very loud and the tone still doesn’t sit right with me.
It should either be a lot more or a lot less silly. It swings between cheesy comedy and mediocre drama too often for any of the darker parts to shine through properly. |
Grant Morrison using “They” pronouns now. Singular but still queer. He was always a creep anyway, wee magical fanny.
|
It would be funny if he transitioned just so the Wachowski’s could finally say he stole one of their ideas.
|
Finished Peacemaker. Along with Gunn's Suicide Squad, it is the best thing DC has put out in some time (I haven't watched the new Batman film, yet, so my opinion might change). Saying that, I did find the occasional identity politics nonsense a bit grating.
I have also been rewatching the first season of West Wing. I always forget how snappy the script was, especially in the early seasons. I'd also forgotten how preachy it could be, as well, but its fairly lightweight compared to what they peddle today. |
It was added to Disney+ and I had nothing better to do so I watched the first two episode of "How I Met Your Father" and damn, is it ever terrible.....
|
On to season 3 of Doom Patrol.
I’m glad I stuck with this. I just wish season one and three were half as good as season two. Season two is so fantastic that it made me re-think Grant Morrison. Maybe he is a creepy weirdo but which comic book guy isn’t?! Danny The Street ffs… Now that is funky shit. I pretty much just loved the character Dorothy so much that it made the show brilliant to me. That character’s interactions with the people and world around her should have been the main focus of the show from the start. Also she looks more canine than an ape. Still, easily the best emotive character and performance in the show. She’s great. |
Hang on…
What age do girls first get their periods? The show says she’s 100 or thereabouts… in dog years she’d be 14. What is the exchange rate for apes? I am onto something I think…. |
What you drinking tonight Seanny?
I'm watching Stargate SG-1 again. Just came across recommended on Netflix randomly and tempted me. I couldn't say no. |
Don’t encourage me
|
watching through monk for the first time. tony shalhoub is brilliant at delivering everything. i also love that the show will let a joke sit and linger way past the point of comfort sometimes. ALSO a completely insane guest spot by korn in an episode that i still am convinced i hallucinated.
|
Watched the first episode of The Boys: Diabolical.... was pretty good... like Looney Tunes but if the violence actually had gruesome consequences
|
Episode 4 like a mini Black Mirror episode....
|
Was only intending to watch 1 or 2 and go to bed but ended up watching all 8 episodes... whoops....
|
Watching Mad Men for the first time... in the middle of season 4, enjoying it
Feel like season 1 was "not that good" but the show has gotten way better in season 3 and 4 especially Much less Betty Draper now is good... boring / unlikeable character when there was so much focus on her... |
Yeah, always hear that about Mad Men.... I tried to watch it once "back in the day"... watched the first two or three episodes or something.... but I was just coming off of Breaking Bad which was like "wow, this has me hooked from episode 1", so I wasn't really feeling having to deal with Mad Men "slowly getting better".....
|
I've watched the first episode of Star Trek Discovery's season 4, and I don't think I can continue. The Burnham character is so smug and sanctimonious that I want to put myself head first through a triple-glazed window. Not even Captain Janeway made me feel like that.
I want Strange New Worlds to be great, but I can't shake the feeling it is going to be a shitshow like Discovery and Picard. It might be time to step away from ST for the next decade or so. I think I will watch the second season of Raised by Wolves instead; I might rewatch the first season beforehand. |
Yeah, bailed on Discovery mid way through S2.
|
Seinfeld
|
Never even started S2 of Discovery.....
Have S2 of Picard waiting on my DVR but dunno.... |
Watch “Our Flag Means Death”.
Taika Waititi plays Blackbeard and Rhys Darby plays Stede Bonnet the Gentleman Pirate. It’s a pirate comedy loosely based on real life and it’s pretty good. It’s not close to Taika’s directorial output but it is good use of him as an actor. He really kicks it up a notch in terms of credibility. |
Winning Time on hbo
Dramatization of the rise of the Lakers dynasty. 4th wall breaking threw me off at first but its grown on me. Helps that they do it a lot less than the first episode. |
The guy playing Magic is honestly his double.
Incredible likeness. |
Quote:
Great show. A lot of fun. |
Watched the first episode of the new Atlanta season. What a weird-ass episode to start with after 3 years.
|
Second episode less weird. At least the characters were in it.
|
The Thing About Pam (on both Peacock and Hulu)
Probably one of my favorite series of 2022 so far. Series is based on absolutely nuts true story about a murder in small town Missouri. Funny, shocking, fast-paced. Great cast. Renee Zellwegger and Josh Duhamel are fantastic. Highly recommend it. |
Re: Winning Time
Wood Harris as Spencer Haywood made my day. Just a gangsta I suppose. |
Loved the stuff with Magic and Kareem as well. Great episode.

Watching old episodes of the Critic and am reminded of how great the opening theme is.
More songs should feature the clarinet. |
better call saul s5 finally hit netflix. suoer hyped.
|
As we get deeper into Winning Time, I'm really feeling the portrayal of Magic by the actor and writers. He's very likable and a clear protagonist, but also a total creep.
|
Also, Adrian Brody has been low-key really good as Pat Riley.
|
Also Norm Nixon's son Davon is playing him. Cool.

LuLaRich 10/10
4 part documentary on MLM company LuLaRoe Fucking AMAZING |
Just finished The Last Kingdom on Netflix. I was struggling to find the interest to watch this but I am so glad that I did. It took about 3 episodes before I realized this show could actually be "better than Game of Thrones". Then it wasn't before the season ended where I was like like "yup this is my show now".
If you haven't seen it and you like sword shows, this is a must see. Like GOT but without dragons and magic, and more likeable characters and better acting and writing. |
Just started We Own This City. Was dope.

There’s a moment in one of the more recent episodes that gives the car window scene in Hereditary a run for it’s money. It was probably worse actually, so freaking grim. The impact was heavy but the slide… |
Watched “They Call Me Magic” and it’s a great companion piece.
I find it weird seeing a man talk openly about cheating on his missus like that. Pretty decent ball player though. |
