Finally got around to beating Symphony of the Night. Mad easy for a Castlevania game. Gonna hit up Chronicles on PSN next.

Ideal play order would be 5,1,2,3,4. But 4 pretty much sucks and is the only game in the series not really connected to the others. |
The new PS3 Netflix app is up. Just go to "What's New" under the PS store tab and it will be there to install.

GTA IV Episodes from Liberty City might become the 2nd game in the franchise to be pulled off of retail shelves and download stores.
Brazilian court passes ruling forbidding the sale of the game due to one song in the expansion disc being unauthorized for use in the game (aka no royalties or permission). Quote:

Great, they pull the game after everybody has played it and moved on.

I never understood the rationale of playing a prequel before the game it comes before chronologically, instead of in the order it was released. Yes, the events take place before the others but isn't the point that it reveals details that you couldn't gather at first? Like you wouldn't watch Star Wars for the first time starting at Episode 1 and go through Episode 6. Would ruin the surprise of Darth Vader being Luke's father. You know

Didn't wanna make a new thread, and most of you guys who'd know this stuff post in here anyway, so here goes...
I think my 360's ethernet port may have shit out. The last month or so my internet connection to Live would go out from time to time, but it'd always connect again no problem. Though it would sometimes disconnect again several minutes later. But today, after getting home from Best Buy to buy New Vegas, I turn on the 360 and bam, no connection to the network at all. I kept trying, nothing. Tried using the cable that goes from the modem to the router and plugging it directly into the 360, nothing. Just to make sure nothing was wrong with the whole ethernet/USB port back there I plugged in a Play and Charge and it worked fine. So, assuming the port's done, wat do? Preferably something as wallet friendly as possible |
I assumed you did all the network tests on the XB dashboard?
|
Yes sir, pretty much an instant "Unable to connect to the network"
|
Damn, sounds like it's dead.
|
You probably will need to get the Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter since it uses the USB ports if you want to play online or pay $50-$99 to get the Ethernet port fixed by Microsoft.
|
Quote:
|
Seems to be $99 regardless to send it in. For that price I can just buy the damn adapter. Goddamnit
Probably for the best anyway, about to move into a new apartment where having the 360 wired won't really be an option. But still, this blows cox |
You can set up a wireless bridge. I think it's still cheaper than the WiFi adapter.
|
Not sure what to get tomorrow.
Fallout New Vegas, DJ Hero 2, or Ultimate Ninja Storm. Yeah I know, "ZOMG FALLOUT WTF". I still feel a bit burnt out on Fallout, and this isn't a true sequel, but it's fallout so I dunno. Even though I know Naruto is just an anime game that will lose it's novelty faster than the other two, I just can't get over how amazing it looks. And the demo was really fun. DJ Hero has a lot of good looking mixes, and I really enjoyed the first one. |
Save you money for next week?
|
Only things I want next week are SvsR 2011, and the Undead Nightmare DLC, so I don't need to save.
|
Rock Band 3? Didn't I ask you about that before?
Get New Vegas tho. |
I'm just not all that pumped for Rockband.
|
Space Channel 5 2 coming to XBLA and PSN
Also Sega Bass Fishing, I guess. |

You ever notice you have to be extremely athletic to play these games...

"Enjoy the emotions of the best games in the reality of your home."
|
Sony has quietly sneaked in a game region-locking "feature" in PS3 firmwares since 3.30, the cunts. Hopefully publishers don't use it.
|
Or at least athletic...you know, the kind of person that doesn't sit at home playing video games.

That is actually kind of neat.

They didn't have naruto or dj hero, so I went with Fallout.
Wonder if I'll even see those games out here. One of the few disadvantages to living where I do. |

For those who didn't pick up the God of War Trilogy disc set, Sony is set to release God of War I & II on PSN at some point in November.
These are the same HD remakes found in the Trilogy set although instead of being sold as a set, both games have to be purchased individually. No exact date in November nor a price for each game was announced yet. In comparison, current sales of the Trilogy disc set is around 70,000 - 100,000 copies sold. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...collection.jpg http://kotaku.com/5669014/god-of-war...psn-next-month |
When will it be out for X-Box?
|
Gonna guess never since it's a Sony game.
|
You can play sega games on nintedo, so it is possible one day.
|
Tomorrow. I totally heard it from a guy that knows a guy.

All that needs to happen is for Sony to go out of business. |
EA continues in its attempt to counter people from buying the upcoming Call of Duty Black Ops by announcing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam expansion pack will be priced at $15. EA believes this deal and the "free" Medal of Honor DLC should be enough to steal some sales away from CoD Black Ops.
The expansion pack comes with 4 multiplayer maps, patrol boats, Russian tanks, Hueys, 15 weapons, 10 Achievements/Trophies , and carries over stats earned in the main game to the expansion game. No exact release date was announce but EA is planning for it to be released during the month of November. http://kotaku.com/5669829/battlefiel...-vietnam-is-15 |

Well with Sony Playstations becoming more over priced and God of War being their only game worth a damn... |
Granted, but Sega and Sony aren't exactly in the same league. Sony is an electronics giant with videogames being only one section of their massive portfolio. Sega made consoles and games, then they almost went bust and stuck to games in order to survive.

Odds are, they're in it for the long haul, but let's not forget the thing that gives them the massive power to stay afloat may also be the same thing that leads to Sony pulling the plug. Also, anyone notice the dude who burned down the CA Gamestop looked like Kalyx? |

These games sell millions because they are genuinely fun to play, not because people love the "amazing" storytelling of Hideko Kojima. |

Yeah, the Uncharted series looks soooo good. When I PS3 it up it'll be the first thing I pick up, followed by GoW3.
|
Uncharted is really awesome, with a few very minor flaws. Uncharted 2 is, for my money, the best singleplayer game of this console generation.

Different tastes. I'd much rather have a game where I can do my own thing with an over-arcing story-line than a totally linear experience, hence preferring Mass Effect.
Not to say Uncharted isn't awesome though. |
Only thing that pisses me off about Mass Effect is the wall glitch. Keep falling through walls and floors when I get knocked over.
|
Mass Effect is certainly up there, but as an RPG, there is still a lot of tedious crap to wade through, Where as Uncharted 2 is action, from start to finish. Being that my favorite genre is 2d platformers, that's something I appreciate more than non linear freedom. Story is pretty good, and the voice acting and animations of the characters are the best I've ever seen.

I played the demo for part 3 and I was hooked. I am playing 1 and 2 first though. I figured I'd do the whole thing. I never played 1 and 2 since I sort of stopped buying games for Playstation in college. I'm finally getting around to playing some games on my PS3. I bought it last spring, but over the summer I didn't use it much and only really played Arkham Asylum, Ghostbusters and a few sports games (MLB and SvR) thus far. God of War - Uncharted - Red Dead Redemption. That's my cue. |

Okay, Figgy. |

I know people bitch when I tell him he won't like something, but I've got a better grip than 95% of you on what he will and won't enjoy. And while I'm wrong sometimes, I'm pretty sure most of the shit we can name won't do anything for him. Though for some reason, I really want to be a fly on the wall if he ever plays LittleBigPlanet. |
Kane Knight, you love Dynasty Warriors, so let's not act all high and mighty about what type of games other people like.
|
Besides Halo and Gears of War, what are X-Box's big exclusive titles? It seems like most of everything is on both systems, so Sony only boasting God of War and Uncharted doesn't seem so bad
|
Fable, Forza, Splinter Cell, Gears of War and Viva Pinata are games I couldn't do without if I was only allowed to own one console. Combined with time exclusive DLC and a better online service (albeit with a cost), I would rather own my 360. Also, controller preference for multi-platform games.
Still glad I don't have to choose though! |
Looking at the PS3 exclusive list, I would be lots without Valkirya Chronicles, Yakuza and Demon Souls though.
|
See I don't have much built-in interest in those games. Half of them I've actually never heard of. They may be great, but I certainly can live without them. I'm not much of a gamer though.
Basically, I don't feel as though I'm missing out on much whether I own X-Box or PS3. Not enough for me to buy both. There are 2 or 3 games on each side of the fence that I wish I could have, but such is life. I have PS3 now because my 360 shit out on me and I decided to give PS3 a try instead. Probably just the appeal of something new since I had already owned 360. I really didn't put much thought into it. Really I'd only like to be able to play the Gears games. I don't give a shit about Halo because I only enjoy it while playing at my friends' homes and that option is on the table. I'm not really interested in playing it alone or with that horrible online community. I'm actually more excited about being able to dig into the God of War and Uncharted games. |
Yeah, the differences are so small these days. Like I have no interest in God of War for some reason. Probably would have gotten a PS3 a lot sooner if I didn't have a PC blu-ray drive though.
|
like I said only god of war.

Killzone 2 is pretty badass for PS3. Killzone 3 is coming soon.
|
Killzone is terrible.

In your opinion.

Killzone is horrible. It's not even the best PS3 only FPS, let alone any good.

Sega's Master System celebrates its 25th anniversary this week but unlike Super Marios's or the NES 25th anniversary, Sega has no plans to do anything special.
The Master System originally released in October 20, 1985 in Japan which ended up being 2 years after the debut of the NES in Japan and 2 days after the NES test release in the US. Rumor has it Sega was the 1st ever customer to buy the NES in the US and used it to help with their US debut almost 6-7 months after the official NES release. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...b/b9/Ms1v1.png http://kotaku.com/5670383/happy-25th...-master-system |
I asked for a Mega Drive for Christmas because I had played my aunties and was wowed by Sonic, but because my parents were poorish at the time, I got a Master System. Massively disappointed as an 8 year old... Until I got Wonderboy 3. Fucking awesome game. The Sonics were pretty good as well, had nothing to do with the MD ones and were better for it.
Also had a longer lifespan in Europe than the NES did. Sonic Chaos came out around the time Sonic 3 did  |

I haven't played a MGS game since PS1, so I hardly even remember what they're like. I don't remember a thing about the story other than that you're Solid Snake and some kind of secret agent or special ops.
I've never been one to gush over video game storylines. I appreciate a decent story to thread the gameplay experience along, but I tend to view the interactive medium of gaming as just that, and tend to hate games that push their storyline to the point of being pretentious. There's something about a lot of video game storytelling that is just so bad. I can't fully put my finger on it, but it often comes across as trying way too hard and missing the mark. |

I think you are just spending too much time on gamefaqs, where most of these mutants reside. I have a few more forums I go to, and the general consensus is, that Kojima needs writers, but the game itself is fun as hell. |
I will give credit where credit is due, Metal Gear Solid 3 is much better than the other 3 in terms of story, and has legitamitly good ending.

I know that Spielberg and Peter Jackson have both expressed their interest in video games and in developing their own. Christopher Nolan wants to be hands on in developing a legitimate Inception video game. Then there are guys like JJ Abrams and Joss Whedon, or a number of other television or comic writers I'd love to see make a video game that stands out as a badass story that you can play. |
Spielberg is making games for EA, but they are games without a narrative like Boom Blox. (which is an immense game).

Microsoft once again pledges better support for PC Gaming with their Games For Windows platform. This time they pledge to double the number of titles released this year and maintain support for 2011 as their main goal.
Microsoft promised almost the exact same thing in 2009 but ended up failing or continuing the Xbox 360 over PC preferences once the holiday or slow period occurred (early Summer). Its been an issue ever since they focused on the Xbox brand at the cost of their PC platform and the debut of Vista causing problems every time they wanted to redo the Games for Windows brand. The biggest problem is the lack of titles each month since very few months go over 3-4 new games compared to the consoles. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...ce22337527.jpg http://kotaku.com/5672254/microsoft-...yline=true&s=i |
Oh boy, more shitty ports.

Looks like MS may have found a way to block backups. Using the new dashboard beta and attempting to boot Fable 3 doesn't work. However, the original still works even on these nodded consoles.
