I completely steal Kane Knight's punchline, giving him nothing to work with, and you set him right back up again.
Are we even on the same side anymore? |
We aren't sharing a playbook, are we?

Fignuts, I think you need to take a break. In attempting to pre-empt me, you're being more Kane Knight than I am. Quote:

Square-Enix announces a huge 22-disc anniversary set will be released to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Final Fantasy series although there is a small catch.
Every game from the main series (FF 1 to 13) will be included along with a special video disc, visual art collection, 2-disc soundtrack, and a few other things. The set also celebrates the series history on the Playstation platform with a retail price of about $446 although it will only be released in Japan baring a future worldwide release announcement. Now for the actual catch to the collection, Square-Enix is releasing the games (except 1) on the actual format they were originally released on for the PlayStation brand. The PS1-only era games are multiple disc games while the PSP remake can only be played on a PSP handheld. Quote:

Pretty much put all other anniversary packs to shame.
|
Unless you got all 4 systems, or the original ps3 with backwards compatibility, this is pretty much pointless.
|
They couldn't just stick all those on a couple Blu Rays?
|
Yeah, what bullshit.
|
I guess this makes my original FF7 worth selling now? I don't see myself buying this.. but if I get a good score on FF7, why not? I'll just download it digitally.
|
How many times are we going to see rereleases of every Final Fantasy game, jesus
|
As long as people keep buying them, they will keep rereleasing them.

And FFVII has been available digitally for ages. It's one of the only games I played on my PSP |
lol here is the new Final Fantasy XIII game: Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/09/...xiii-announced
|
That doesn't even sound remotely like a Final Fantasy game. All elements tying it to the series must be DLC.
|
They should make a game called OssMan Returns Final Fantasy XIII to the store because it sucks
|
But you... purchased it in the first place?
Anyway it's too late for me to experience this end of a trilogy. FF13 didn't keep me long enough. Looks pretty, though. |
I actually preferred XIII to XII, but neither is in the top half of Final Fantasy games. I found Lightning to be the least interesting member of XIII/2's cast though, even when you consider Snow has absolutely no character development over two games.

Awww yeah, perpetual countdown timer!

Weekend News Edition
Kojima says Metal Gear Solid Ground Zero will act as a prequel to Metal Gear Solid 5. He also showed off the debut trailer today at PAX.

Ah yes, one of those prologue things. Okay.

Damn. Fox Engine is sexy.
|
So has it been stated that the engine is ranking on current gen hardware?

The video shown however, was on a PC. Kojima claims however that it reflects the final quality on the PS3 as well, but that remains to be seen. |
Need to play peace walker now, since this seems to be a direct sequel.
|
ugh. *running.
Stupid smart phone. Well, guess we will see how it looks on the PS3. Cant help but feel its a PS4 launch title though. |

Ah, I see what you mean from the other thread now.

After debuting Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes during Konami's 25th anniversary party for the series last week, Hideo Kojima reveals at PAX 2012 he would love to make a Metal Gear Solid game in the future where The Boss is the main character.
While he doesn't favor making spin-off games for the series itself, he wouldn't have a problem making one if it involves The Boss as the main character. The Boss herself is referenced as the mentor of Naked Snake's (Big Boss) in Metal Gear Solid 3. Quote:

Would love a game with The Boss as the main character. One of my favorite antagonists in gaming.

During a developer panel at PAX 2012, Gearbox announces they have separated the Brother in Arms series from the Furious 4 installment and instead will now treat the game as a standalone new IP project.
The decision was due to the game no longer fitting into the Brother in Arms series universe after the constant development changes had been done. Quote:

The unnamed source is the same source located in Japan who previously leaked several Wii U details that were confirmed later on by Nintendo. http://wiiudaily.com/2012/09/wii-u-z...e-coming-2014/ http://www.screwattack.com/news/rumo...oming-out-2014 |
Meh, I don't know about the rest of ya, but I'd rather Zelda go back to Twilight Princess graphics and controls. Jury's out on the map size.
|
Twilight Princess graphics didn't age as well as... say Wind Waker. I don't mind an expressive style or a happy middle ground. Very interested in the game world and how open the gameplay may be for it. Skyward seemed episode and linear, though it experimented with things I hope to see return (weapon maintenance and potion mixing).
|
I think that graphically the more 'real' a game tries to aim towards the less it ages well. I see games like MvC (or other cartoonish sprite games), Wind Waker, and tend to frown less on their looks than popping in something even semi-current like Mass Effect 1
|
That's the double edge sword of realistic visuals, it can only be enjoyed that console cycle (sometimes less than that). They can never be timeless to your eyes. That's not a bad thing, I just don't find realistic visuals interesting at all.

Holy shit, I had no idea Curt Schilling of Red Sox fame was the guy behind Kingdoms of Amalur.
Mind is blown right now. |
