I completely steal Kane Knight's punchline, giving him nothing to work with, and you set him right back up again.

Are we even on the same side anymore?

Kalyx triaD 08-31-2012 02:36 AM

We aren't sharing a playbook, are we?

There was a punchline?

Fignuts, I think you need to take a break. In attempting to pre-empt me, you're being more Kane Knight than I am.

Kalyx triaD 08-31-2012 06:40 PM

Pretty much put all other anniversary packs to shame.

ClockShot 08-31-2012 07:09 PM

Unless you got all 4 systems, or the original ps3 with backwards compatibility, this is pretty much pointless.

alvarado52 08-31-2012 07:28 PM

They couldn't just stick all those on a couple Blu Rays?

Fignuts 08-31-2012 07:29 PM

Yeah, what bullshit.

dronepool 08-31-2012 08:28 PM

I guess this makes my original FF7 worth selling now? I don't see myself buying this.. but if I get a good score on FF7, why not? I'll just download it digitally.

OssMan 08-31-2012 08:34 PM

How many times are we going to see rereleases of every Final Fantasy game, jesus

Fignuts 08-31-2012 11:34 PM

As long as people keep buying them, they will keep rereleasing them.

They could, they just chose not to. Odds are, this financially benefits them.

Why not sell it before now? With the existence of this set, you will probably get less money, not more.

And FFVII has been available digitally for ages. It's one of the only games I played on my PSP

OssMan 09-01-2012 01:57 PM

lol here is the new Final Fantasy XIII game: Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/09/...xiii-announced

Ultra Mantis 09-01-2012 03:34 PM

That doesn't even sound remotely like a Final Fantasy game. All elements tying it to the series must be DLC.

OssMan 09-01-2012 03:37 PM

They should make a game called OssMan Returns Final Fantasy XIII to the store because it sucks

Kalyx triaD 09-01-2012 04:44 PM

But you... purchased it in the first place?

Anyway it's too late for me to experience this end of a trilogy. FF13 didn't keep me long enough. Looks pretty, though.

Ultra Mantis 09-01-2012 05:44 PM

I actually preferred XIII to XII, but neither is in the top half of Final Fantasy games. I found Lightning to be the least interesting member of XIII/2's cast though, even when you consider Snow has absolutely no character development over two games.

Kane Knight 09-01-2012 05:47 PM

Awww yeah, perpetual countdown timer!

Damn. Fox Engine is sexy.

alvarado52 09-02-2012 12:17 AM

So has it been stated that the engine is ranking on current gen hardware?

It will be used for current gen, and probably next gen.

The video shown however, was on a PC. Kojima claims however that it reflects the final quality on the PS3 as well, but that remains to be seen.

Fignuts 09-02-2012 01:47 AM

Need to play peace walker now, since this seems to be a direct sequel.

alvarado52 09-02-2012 03:40 AM

ugh. *running.

Stupid smart phone.

Well, guess we will see how it looks on the PS3. Cant help but feel its a PS4 launch title though.

With Kojima's fetish for shiny things? I bet it is.

Kalyx triaD 09-02-2012 06:15 PM

Ah, I see what you mean from the other thread now.

Emperor Smeat 09-03-2012 06:04 PM

After debuting Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes during Konami's 25th anniversary party for the series last week, Hideo Kojima reveals at PAX 2012 he would love to make a Metal Gear Solid game in the future where The Boss is the main character.

While he doesn't favor making spin-off games for the series itself, he wouldn't have a problem making one if it involves The Boss as the main character. The Boss herself is referenced as the mentor of Naked Snake's (Big Boss) in Metal Gear Solid 3.

Quote:

“We’ve talked previously about a game featuring The Boss as a main character. This is something I’d really love to make,” he said.
He also mentioned the future of the series itself could eventually move away from the Solid storyline with hints of the possibility to a sequel for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance being made and as a potential new starting point.

Quote:

“If it works out well, I really would like to work with Platinum games on a sequel,” he said.

During a developer panel at PAX 2012, Gearbox announces they have separated the Brother in Arms series from the Furious 4 installment and instead will now treat the game as a standalone new IP project.

The decision was due to the game no longer fitting into the Brother in Arms series universe after the constant development changes had been done.

Quote:

Randy Ptichford said that as the game's developers "pushed the gameplay loop, they got into a place that got away from the core" of the Brothers In Arms franchise. Since then, Pitchford said, "it's evolved even farther, and it needed to be unshackled" from the brand.
While Gearbox didn't reveal any new details regarding some of the recent changes to the game, they do have plans to "reintroduce" the game during a Gearbox Community Day which will occur later this year at Dallas, Texas.

ClockShot 09-04-2012 09:23 PM

Meh, I don't know about the rest of ya, but I'd rather Zelda go back to Twilight Princess graphics and controls. Jury's out on the map size.

Kalyx triaD 09-04-2012 09:32 PM

Twilight Princess graphics didn't age as well as... say Wind Waker. I don't mind an expressive style or a happy middle ground. Very interested in the game world and how open the gameplay may be for it. Skyward seemed episode and linear, though it experimented with things I hope to see return (weapon maintenance and potion mixing).

alvarado52 09-04-2012 11:04 PM

I think that graphically the more 'real' a game tries to aim towards the less it ages well. I see games like MvC (or other cartoonish sprite games), Wind Waker, and tend to frown less on their looks than popping in something even semi-current like Mass Effect 1

Kalyx triaD 09-04-2012 11:08 PM

That's the double edge sword of realistic visuals, it can only be enjoyed that console cycle (sometimes less than that). They can never be timeless to your eyes. That's not a bad thing, I just don't find realistic visuals interesting at all.

Fignuts 09-05-2012 01:22 AM

Holy shit, I had no idea Curt Schilling of Red Sox fame was the guy behind Kingdoms of Amalur.

Mind is blown right now.

RoXer 09-05-2012 02:10 AM

where have you been

RoXer 09-05-2012 02:10 AM
