Wonder how Vince of the past would feel about current Vince in regards to today's WWE becoming a big haven for older talent hogging up the spotlight.

The stat about this year's Royal Rumble breaking the all-time record for oldest average age probably would have been an eye popper for past Vince.

Probably gives zero fucks as long as his bank balance is healthy.

Well, I should rephrase, it seems like a case where he'll never be cleared again unless he has his doctors go to bat for him. Generally these guys need to jump through a lot of hoops to get WWE to consider clearing them again, and it doesn't always work.

Jason Jordan and Tyson Kidd have both been denied the chance to return multiple times. Although in the case of the latter I'm relieved because his original injuries were so bad that a simple fender bender could've left him in a wheelchair. I'd have a hard time watching him wrestle again and not cringing at every bump.

Ring of Honor and Sinclair are currently facing a lawsuit from former ROH wrestler Kelly Klein over allegations of discrimination, harassment, unpaid royalties, and unsafe work environment conditions during her time with the company.

Besides ROH officials, Jay Lethal was also named in her lawsuit over allegations of him committing sexual harassment towards her and other female wrestlers in the company.

Former ROH star Kelly Klein has filed a lawsuit against the promotion and parent company Sinclair Broadcasting, alleging discrimination and harassment among other things. Heel By Nature reports that Klein filed the lawsuit against the companies on Wednesday ...

The 28-page lawsuit alleges that ROH breached their implied contract with Klein, owes unpaid royalties, violated state and federal Equal Pay acts, and discriminated against her, harrassed her, and operated an unsafe work environment. Named in the lawsuit are Gilleland, ROH creative director Hunter “Delirious” Johnston, ROH COO Joe Koff, and Jay Lethal.

Klein alleges that ROH created an environment through negligence and “illegal actions” which resulted in injuries to herself and other talent, noting that she was injured during a match on September 16th, 2016 and that “Nobody employed or engaged by Defendants checked on Klein’s condition and no medical staff was available to evaluate her.” She says she reported the injury to BJ Whitmer, the agent who put the match together, but that no medical treatement was made available to her. When she told Johnston she was going to seek pain treatment, he “did not offer any information, guidance or information regarding treatment” and she had to seek treatment at her own expense without any reimbursement or attempt to reach out to her by ROH regarding the injury.

She goes on to detail other injuries she suffered in 2018 where there was similarly no medical personnel or treatment made available, and said that she told announcer Ian Riccaboni in December 2018 that many of the female talent didn’t feel safe working with other women wrestlers “who were reckless and not properly trained” and Riccaboni said he understood, but that Todd Sinclair, who was the main booker for women’s matches, “really liked those reckless women wrestlers but that he would have a talk with him about it.” She says she spoke with Sinclair in late January 2019 about her safety concerns and that Sinclair said he hadn’t heard about this before “despite Klein previously overhearing another performer complaining to Mr. Sinclair about certain wrestlers being reckless and unsafe.” Sinclair allegedly said that the women in question were only booked for a few more dates. She said she had a similar conversation with Sinclair, Johnston, and other agents after a March 2019 match in which she was injured, “but the conversation fell on deaf ears" ...

She also alleges several instances of discrimination, including the fact that all female wrestlers were paid a lower wage “than their comparable male counterparts.” She alleges that Jay Lethal approached her in January of 2017 when she was in a hot tub at a hotel where the talent were staying after an event and “while leering at her in a way that made Klein uncomfortable, started harassing her by asking her questions about whether her boyfriend was there, if she was staying in the hotel alone and how long she would be at the hotel.” She says that after she got an email a couple weeks later saying that Lethal would be the new agent working with female talent, she responded and said she had seen and experienced several situations involving him that made her uncomfortable and was not willing to work with him, asking that another agent be assigned to her matches ...

Klein says that in July 2018, Sinclair spoke with Klein about other female talent’s complaints about Lethal, and she told them about her interaction with him. She says that there was no previous investigation as they were not told. She also lays out several instances where she spoke with ROH management about disparate treatment between male and female talent including creative storylines, pay, and more. She alleges that she asked Gilleland about her salary in December of 2018 and wanted a raise to $24,000 a year, and he rejected it because he would have to pay all female wrestlers the increased pay as well. She notes that “This salary was substantially below the salary that the male wrestlers were paid and the decision to pay the salary was based upon the fact that Klein was a female” and that she was “asked to make more appearances, with no limit regarding the frequency of appearances, than the other female talent.”

She claims that when she met with Koff about pay equality and sexual harassment, Koff said that he thought the situation with Lethal had been resolved, when nothing had been done. An HR employee for Sinclair was present and she says she brought it up to HR, including the fact that management revealed her name to Lethal despite there being no formal investigation, to which Koff allegedly “stated that there was no documentation for the 2018 claim and that HR was only for employees and she was not an employee.”

Klein is seeking $75,000.

I mean it's not too surprising, dude was an offensive lineman and those guys are fat out of necessity and their coaches don't allow them to drop weight. They have a crazy high daily caloric intake.

Most linemen's weights drop like a stone in retirement.

Roman is universally loved  (a few repeat clips in the 2 vids)

Vastardikai 02-26-2021 11:35 AM

I just wanted to say a few things on Question Mark (R.I.P.) I didn't watch much of his stuff as Jocephus, though he played a fairly major role in the NWA early on in the revival (He injured Tim Storm's Ribs, allowing Nick Aldis to win the title).

But Question Mark proved that everything that's old is new again. It was a masked gimmick that borrowed more from the more traditional American masked men than Lucha Libre. The American masked gimmicks usually fell into 3 categories: 1. A character in and of itself (See: Destroyer, Grappler, Masked Superstar), 2. A regular star that everyone knew was a regular star and the mask was half the fun of it (See: the Bullet, Stagger Lee, The Midnight Rider) 3. A way for a job guy to get a second payday (See: Any number of Executioners, the Galaxians, etc.) Question Mark started off as the second group (everyone knew it was Jocephus) that surprisingly became a star in his own right. Nothing about it should have worked, but it was a perfect fit for NWA and it stood out and the charisma sold it. It was both an Ironic and an Unironic thing.

Last two wrestling T-shirts I bought were the "Uncle Tony's Waffles and Tire Irons" shirt (I made it a work meme) and the "Kara-taaaaaaaaaaay" shirt. Had the Pandemic not hit, he may have ended up as National Heavyweight Champion.

Rest Easy Joseph. You had one hell of a run.

ROFL @ this comment in the chat.

Quote:

"You know, they say all men are created equal, but you look at Ronald Beswick-Diaz and you look at Joseph Wendall Parker, and you can see that statement is not true! See, normally if you go chasing another man with a car 50-50 chance of killing him. But he's got a gun , and he's shooting, so Joseph got a 25% at best at escaping ! And then you add that the sheriff department is closed? Your chances of survivin’ drasticy go down. So, in the end there's a 33 1/3 chance of wiinnin’. But Ronald has got a 66 2/3 chance of killing , cause Joseph is just gonna run ! So, Joseph, you take your 33 1/3 chance, minus the 25 percent chance, and you got an 8 1/3 chance of surviving! But then you take Ronald's 75 perchance chance at killing’, if we was to go without cars , and to add 66 2/3 ch… percents, he's got a 141 2/3 chance of killing Josepg ! See, Parker; the numbers don’t like, and they spell disaster for you !"

According to the Observer, the NWA is currently expected to make a big announcement soon and its related to why all of their content was suddenly removed from Youtube.

Meltzer mentioned that this upcoming announcement is actually something good for the company and not a negative one based on what he's been told about it.

So who did they sell their content to? Hopefully it means new episodes of Power, too. I might pay for a new subscription service for that. I miss that show.

Legendary wrestling promoter Jim Crockett Jr. reportedly is in a very dire health condition due to him recently suffering from liver and kidneys failure.

"It's not looking good," Meltzer said.

Nothing else regarding the 76-year-old's condition is known at this time.

Wrestling was in Crockett Jr.'s family as his father founded Jim Crockett Promotions which Junior took over in 1977 after his father's death in 1973. Before that, he was an short-term owner of two minor league baseball teams. He became NWA President in 1980, the first of three terms he served in that position over the next 11 years.

During his second term, he purchased the Saturday night time slot Vince McMahon owned on WTBS and the rest is history. JCP eventually re-positioned itself as the NWA as he owned six territories and was president of the organization.

He sold JCP to Ted Turner in 1988 who renamed the organization World Championship Wrestling. Once again, the rest is history. He flirted with getting back into the business several times, but instead settled on a life outside the business in Texas.
