It always comes down to odd timing, or "stutter-steps" in the ring. Seems to always be the same thing. Bouncing off the ropes too, looks funny. Almost like they need to loosen the tension so the women can actually bounce into them rather than just right-off them.

Charlotte really should have spent a couple more weeks training and getting used to being in a ring again since she's somehow managed to get worse after returning from her break and not simply because of ring rust issues.

Their father La Bestia del Ring also recently signed a deal with the company.

There’s a difference between having fetishes and hiring people based on it to do problematic shit no one wants to see.

Yet people will still consider him an "expert" despite repeatedly showing that he doesn't have a fucking clue what he's talking about.

Another classic example of someone missing the point. Who the fuck is Maki Itoh and why would anyone who follows WWE or even AEW in the US know anything about her? And who the fuck would know who KENTA is from the same pool? Did he ever work on Raw or SmackDown?

These wrestlers ARE obscure. There’s no way around it. About 300k people in the WORLD have New Japan World. In the WWE he appeared almost exclusively on WWE Network shows, which means under 1 million people. Who would even know how to see Maki Itoh? I don’t fucking know and I am OBSESSED with wrestling.

But yes, all 850k people who were watching basic cable and saw a purple-haired Japanese dude do a shitty version of CM Punk’s finisher know the history and origin behind the move. It certainly didn’t make any of them think “Man, I miss CM Punk.” You. Fucking. Idiot.

If you cannot see how a Japanese woman in a school girl’s outfit saying “I am the queen of piss” is not fetishistic, then you are beyond gone. There’s so much problematic shit in Japan. It goes beyond “different cultures.” It’s not racist or kink-shaming to point out the exploitation there.

But I’m sure Omega just thinks they’re all neato workers. ;)

I REALLY noticing the pacing thing with Riho. She was so tiny that it would take her more steps to get across the ring than other people. I can only imagine how that would throw off someone’s timing in the ring, but it just sounded weird.

I mean, think of how squick it is when folks bring up stuff like Cuties. Or Child Beauty Pageants. Or Dance Moms. Think about the backlash when Izzy the Superfan got chokeslammed by Effy in a match.

Now, just imagine if there were all female promotions in the US that featured girls Izzy's age in under card matches. And the Audience watching these contests were primarily men. The moral outrage would be through the roof. Unless TLC got a hold of the TV rights, then it'd be a ratings smash for them.

The thing I just described? That's Joshi Wrestling. It's also why the fanbase of New Japan has resisted efforts to bring Joshi stars into the company, because there are a great number of female fans that don't want to be around perverts. And Japan didn't really have much of a "Me Too" movement, let alone a "Speaking Out" movement. Imagine the things that would have come out if it did.

I actually agree with everything you said. Though there was something about Riho that grew on me. I started to prefer her to the majority of the AEW Division except Britt Baker, who is by far the best they have.

That's one thing that's always bugged the shit out of me about women's matches the ropes hardly move when they hit them yet they act like they're being catapulted off them. The 2 exceptions being Jax and Tamina for obvious reason.

Hope it turns into a weekly spot where she yells about it.

I remember watching the AJPW women in the 80s and all you could hear is a wail of sound coming from young female fans. It's nothing like I've ever heard before.

Always liked Sids version of the chokeslam before he transitioned to the more standard version. That version made it less obvious the opponent was jumping due to to how it was done.

State of New York is going to start allowing big indoor events to be possible again starting later this month.

Only requirements are no more than 10% venue capacity allowed for attendance and strict COVID-19 protocols have to be followed.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today that large stadiums and arenas, including WWE hosts Madison Square Garden and Nassau Coliseum, will be allowed to re-open for sports and concerts later this month.

There will be a capacity of 10% for these sporting and concert events, and other COVID-19 protocols will be in place to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Any venue that can fit more than 10,000 people will be able to hold events beginning on Tuesday, February 23. The events will be limited to the 10% capacity and must be signed off by the NY Department of Health.

Venues must enforce all COVID-19 safety measures, including mandatory face masks and social distancing, among others. Fans attending the events must show evidence that they have tested negative for COVID-19 within 72 hours prior to the beginning of the event.

There’s no word yet on if WWE is planning to run New York state now that this announcement has been made. Due to the limited capacity, running MSG would mean they could bring in around 2,000 fans, while running the Barclays Center would allow for them to bring in around 1,600 fans, and Nassau Coliseum would allow for around 1,500 fans.

There is also no word on if AEW might consider running events in The Empire State. They had several Dynamite tapings scheduled for the Northeast in early 2020 that had to be nixed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. ROH, Impact Wrestling and NJPW could all potentially run venues in New York as well.

The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, which has been WWE’s main home in recent years when running New York City, has already been approved to host a NBA game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Sacramento Kings on that day to kick off the re-openings.

Some venues are being used as mass COVID-19 vaccination sites, such as Yankee Stadium, and state officials will be meeting with venue officials to discuss how they can continue vaccination efforts once sports and concerts come back.

Big rumor going around the television & media industry hints that a potential merger between NBCU (main home of WWE) and WarnerMedia (home of AEW) might be more likely than previously assumed.

Rumors of this potential merger date back to early 2020 but NBC has been shopping their Peacock streaming service to other notable players in the streaming market in hopes of forging a deal that would make Peacock a lot more competitive against Disney+ and Netflix.

They already tried to pitch a deal with ViacomCBS but got rejected.

Also NBC's Peacock sub base is supposedly very deceptive since out of the 33 million total subs, only about a third of them are monthly pay subs that use the service regularly.

Only issue is any potential merger deal between NBC and WarnerMedia likely wouldn't happen until next year at the earliest according to industry experts.

The biggest hurdle a merger between NBCUniversal and WarnerMedia would face is either NBC or CBS has to collapse or remain separate. The only reason Disney didn't acquire Fox Sports and FOX Broadcast Network in that merger was bc of anti-trust laws since they already owned ESPN and already owned a broadast network in ABC and it'd give them a monolopy.
