Lana is not a good wrestler. She was at best holding a spot anyway. This is also how you get someone over with the internet in 2020/2021. People are actually championing Lana. Holy wow.

Charlotte coming in and winning is better. Sorry to break it to you guys. But now they’ve actually got the chance to do something with Lana and you’ll eat it up hook, line and sinker.

FTR has flopped there too.

WWE is still, far and away, the biggest wrestling promotion in the world. Not just in the United States, but in the world. If you want to be a star in wrestling, or whatever resembles wrestling today, then you still need that WWE machine. You don't have to like it, but you've got to admit it is true.

AEW is watched by less than 1 million people. They also pay their talent out the ass. Jericho, JR and Matt Hardy have all said their deals with AEW are bigger than with the WWE. Edge was offered $3 million. Randy Orton was able to use an AEW offer to springboard to a higher tier with Vince. They're paying a 61 year old Sting. As if CJ Perry couldn't get a big offer to go there and be Miro's valet. She probably has her eyes set on being an actor or something, and wants that WWE platform, which is undoubtedly bigger and, yes, more prestigious.

You backed a bad horse, Cripz. You wanted AEW to be good. I get that. But you got Chris Jericho selling for guys with the exact same frame as David Arquette and getting slimed Nickelodeon style with orange juice and musical numbers.

You're lying to yourself now. That's cool. But don't fucking try and get away with lying to others. They've got a billionaire's backing, an internet fan's smarts and a bunch of disillusioned fans supporting them in a bubble.

WWE sort of forgot to rig this year's Slammy Awards since the winner for this year's Match of the Year wasn't the "Greatest Wrestling Match Ever" between Randy Orton and Edge at Backlash.

Bad News Gertner 12-23-2020 06:26 PM

Tremendous story Bix posted on Twitter. Apparently Brian Gamble went up to Saturn and agents and told them he didn't want to lose to Saturn in his hometown. He ended up kicking Saturn in the eye drawing blood during the match and Saturn shoot spears him and starts kicking the piss out of him

The Mike Bell stuff would have happened around this period of time too, right? Because the Moppy stuff was happening around the Royal Rumble 2002, I thought. And that came about because of the APA double powerbomb in response to Saturn getting testy.

Metal was testing Perry’s patience, it seems.

Bad News Gertner 12-23-2020 10:38 PM

Yeah Mike Bell was before this. Like spring 01.

That reminds me of Bill Goldberg's Santa's Slay movie..... never seen it.... maybe this is the year.... 'tis the season

Emperor Smeat 12-24-2020 01:55 AM

Based on a quick Google search, that film he was in actually involves a taser scene but unlike the other times, he was not on the receiving end of it.

The moppy gimmick was allegedly a punishment for the Mike Bell incident although Saturn has denied that in interviews.

Got 6 days in a row off. Gonna try and finish my 97 ECW Hardcore TV rewatch(which is starting to become a chore. The show drops off big time after Barely Legal), watch some early 80s WWF stuff that I downloaded a while back and some 83 Mid South

According to Post Wrestling, WWE's current plans for NXT India resemble something similar to what they did for NXT UK at the start.

Right now, they only have plans to tape a tournament while the launch of an official series would happen at a much later date.

Also might not be a weekly series in the end since WWE still hasn't completely finalized their plans for the brand.

He acted like he wasn't gonna sell the Rings of Saturn but forgot that Saturn was A. an Army fucking Ranger B. Trained under Killer fucking Kowalski and C. fucking INSANE.

Saturn leaned into the hold, and he went from "this isn't bad" to "Oh fuck, my arm's gonna break!" really quick. Hard to be a star in front of your family when your arm is in a bag next to Moppy. And knowing Saturn, he would have put a condom over the end and fucked a rat with that dude's arm, because he's A. Depraved and B. Into Safe Sex.

I saw a thing on Reddit where Meltzer was talking about how many tickets Hogan sold and how no one will ever come close. In the comments, folks were talking about how folks to this day, when doing a mock wrestling promo, will usually default to Hogan or Savage impressions.

Except for one time when I saw a guy do a Big E impression.

Assuming the map is accurate, why the lack of any territories for a big chunk of the western part of the US?

Bad News Gertner 12-26-2020 05:48 PM

People would run shows in those states but not under the NWA banner. Thesz for example wrestled some shows in Nevada.

Bert Prentice was known for starting promotions in those areas.

There were also attempts to run those areas under the NWA banner like Montana but they quickly fizzled out.

That's very interesting.

Wyoming is the one state that sticks out the most from that group of non-territory states. It acts as a buffer between AWA and Stampede Wrestling but didn't completely stop AWA from continuing growing westward since they went via the Colorado route instead.

Bad News Gertner 12-26-2020 06:31 PM

Yeah the AWA ran Wyoming a lot in the 70s. Especially Cheyenne

Bad News Gertner 12-26-2020 06:37 PM

Another state that isn't lit up on the map was Idaho.

Recently deceased Dean Silverstone used to run shows in that area as well as Washington (Seattle area) under the name "Superstar Championship Wrestling".

He has a autobiography called "I ain't no Pig Farmer" that I've been wanting to read for a while.

I’m sure it’s better than AEW.

Jesus... Hogan was so reckless with that chairshot. No wonder Konnan wanted Lex Luger to peel his potatoes.

Crippla 12-28-2020 08:37 AM

I think I heard that chair shot from Boston

drave 12-28-2020 08:38 AM

Can you plz record yourself saying "Chair shot from Boston" and post it.

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-28-2020 09:13 AM

I bet you back in those days the "boys" were pissed that Hogan didn't lay that chairshot in. Whereas in reality, he's actually protecting his fellow wrassler.

drave 12-28-2020 09:34 AM

Wonder if the boys back in the back in the day were also mad at Papa Shango slinging mad curses at Ultimate Warrior. He coulda killed the guy!!!
