I could see Paige wanting out of WWE since that new edict is going to hurt her the most out of everyone who uses Twitch in WWE.

Not only is she the highest ranked streamer in WWE in terms of both subs and earnings, she probably makes as much money if not more from Twitch than from her WWE contract based on recent estimates.

Before it was assumed that Twitch accounts would be mostly left alone as long as talent removed any WWE owned ring names or references in the accounts. Turns out WWE is taking over ownership of those accounts regardless if they are under their talents real names and also taking a chunk out of any money earned by their talent on the service.

Even worse is any leftover money talent receives from Twitch will now count against their downside guarantees meaning they are no longer earning any extra money on the side.

How could they possibly enforce that? Unless WWE has a backdoor deal with Twitch where they got Twitch not to pay any of the wrestlers directly.

They should strike by not showing up for Smackdown, just have a Twitch stream going where they just sit and watch Smackdown.

Also, id love to be a fly on the wall when they try to tell Ronda Rousey that lol

Emperor Smeat 10-02-2020 12:07 AM

Legally, its probably muddy since the whole process depends on talent willingly handing over ownership of their accounts and also agreeing to the new terms for their downsides.

If a talent says no, only real way out is WWE agreeing to their release since anything else likely leaves WWE the ability to start punishing and fining them via whatever disciplinary terms are in their contracts if they keep using their account.

WWE's whole plan assumes a talent won't just stop using Twitch or use it a lot less often since then they'd own a mostly useless account once the subs money dries up.

LOL, love the rant that Conrad goes on.

Turns out Triple H's hyped up announcement regarding NXT TakeOver 31 having a "very unique look and feel" ended up being a bit anti-climatic. Its taking place at the Performance Center and not at the ThunderDome as had been rumored earlier.

Same PC that only recently reopened from its recent coronavirus outbreak and has been WWE's hotbed for outbreaks these past few months.

Emperor Smeat 10-02-2020 02:24 PM

If they do go ahead with Mania in Tampa, they better bring back Kairi Sane and have her do a grand entrance on that giant pirate ship or else why even bother.

GD 10-02-2020 03:04 PM

Would make for an epic Wrestlemania moment

Lesnar would have stood a better chance against Kairi had he used the Swiss Chair of Nefarious Neutrality instead.

WWE's new ban on third party service just keeps getting worse the more WWE goes ahead with it.

Newest issue is WWE has been making their talents sign newly revised contracts containing terms demanding they continue using Twitch via WWE owned accounts and if they don't, WWE would consider it to be the same as if they failed to perform their regular job and open themselves up to punishments.

Comes from recent talks Andrew Yang had with talent within the company regarding the new ban on third party services.

Hearing from talent that WWE is forcing performers to sign new contracts that include twitch. Streaming on twitch will become a work obligation and if talent doesn’t stream they will forego earnings, be suspended or face penalties. Doesn’t sound like independent contractors.
— Andrew Yang (@AndrewYang) October 2, 2020

Stu Hart 10-02-2020 04:49 PM

The independent contractors issue will be the final nail in the coffin of WWE. Surely enough of noise will be made for the American government to hold hearings on the flagrant abuse of contractors, the lack of benefits or a union .

Speaking of unions , why don’t these performers belong to some actors union yet ?

drave 10-02-2020 04:50 PM

That's some next level bullshit with the third party stuff coming up.

ClockShot 10-02-2020 05:10 PM

Next few days are about to get interesting.

xrodmuc316 10-02-2020 06:39 PM

How could WWE make them do Twitch on their off time??? Lol Vince is seriously losing it

Yes,

But at that time wrestling was “still in the closet”. Now it’s widely acknowledged and accepted that they are actors. Also, wrestling doesn’t pay to athletic commissions anymore.

Wwe wrestlers cannot take bookings elsewhere, or even have other revenue streams - they are employees without benefits.

If a class action lawsuit or senate hearing had to occur , and it found wwe in the wrong, I wonder if they would be responsible medical etc for all the previous wrestlers...

erickman 10-03-2020 06:46 AM

i remember when twitch banned impact for a week i can see un happy wrestlers getting themselves banned from twitch. we may get a sex tape

Savio 10-03-2020 08:30 AM

Hmmm you think AJ Styles will just start screaming the N word repeatedly next stream?

Jordan 10-03-2020 08:49 AM

This 3rd party story is fucking bullshit. I hope that this is the end for WWE. I'm done with that megalomaniac.

XL 10-03-2020 12:04 PM

If I didn’t already fork out next to nothing to keep up with WWE I think this is the point I’d consider saying “Fuck Vince” and stop giving the guy any money.

Emperor Smeat 10-03-2020 03:41 PM

Even though WWE is still dealing with the aftermath of their recent coronavirus outbreak at the Performance Center, supposedly they will have a limited live crowd for tomorrow's NXT TakeOver 31 event.

Between that and the recent news of NXT going live every week, WWE's been making some really dumb decisions of late regarding their handling of the coronavirus and future plans for shows.

The report notes that requests were made to bring friends and family of the talent to the event, with the idea being to create somewhat of a crowd environment for Takeover.

Triple H revealed earlier this week in a pre-NXT Takeover conference call that the show would have a unique look and feel that has never been done before, but at the time did not elaborate on what that may entail.

Emperor Smeat 10-03-2020 03:52 PM

Also seems the reason why WWE is moving NXT from Full Sail to their Performance Center is a mix of NXT hasn't been using Full Sail students to help with production since going closed set for tapings and Full Sail recently partially re-opened and didn't want to risk the chance that someone from WWE could infect their students and staff.

Plus moving away from Full Sail means WWE no longer has to follow Full Sail's rules for NXT tapings.

As noted last night, WWE is reportedly set to return to the PC for NXT and 205 Live starting with NXT Takeover: 31 on Sunday. According to Wrestling Inc, the move is an amicably split from Full Sail and the “door is open” for them to return.

The site reports that the main reason for the move is that NXT isn’t using Full Sail students at their tapings, which they’ve previously done for things like camera personnel and production assistants. Full Sail students who were taking classes had the opportunity to shadow NXT crew and learn aspects of what they do. NXT is currently a closed set featuring only WWE personnel and Full Sail is not allowing fans to attend live events on campus for the foreseeable future.

In addition, the school has partially reopened for in-person learning and with NXT using some of the conference rooms, they sometimes could come into contact with students in passing. The idea of keeping the roster and crew as the only people using facilities and avoiding contact to minimize risk was a factor in the decision. This also allows NXT to make the decision when they want to allow fans on their own and means they won’t have to coincide with Full Sail’s decisions.

Emperor Smeat 10-04-2020 03:04 PM

Apparently WWE renamed their ring area used for tapings inside the Performance Center to the new name of Capitol Wrestling Center.

Will look similar to WWE's ThunderDome but with a mix of virtual and live fans for the crowd.

In terms of historical significance of the name, Capitol Wrestling was the precursor to WWE.

In addition to video walls surrounding the ring with virtual fans, similar to the ThunderDome, the venue also will welcome back live fans in a limited capacity. Levesque said the crowd is likely to be around 100 people at Sunday’s TakeOver.

Doesn't seem like he got a new job with WWE since he hasn't teased it based on all the tweets he's sent since then.

Former TMZ reporter that got cozy with WWE over the years ending up with him getting hired for their WWE Backstage show before that got cancelled.

During that period he also got involved in a bunch of sleazy-like stuff like the time he was stalking an adult entertainer on Twitter without realizing everyone could read his public tweets and getting into countless bickering feuds with Meltzer, Bixenspan, and others whenever he got called out on his shady reporting.

Even his departure from TMZ to form his own website had some sleazy stuff involved.
