Was named after Mr. Terrific, who was the leader..... basically a Fantastic Four rip-off with lots of camp and science shenanigans. They would yell their catchphrase "Go, Terrifics, Go!" at least once an issue

drave 11-04-2022 12:29 PM

Sounds shit.

Lock Jaw 11-04-2022 12:39 PM

Well it wasn't. Please read my posts. I just said it was fun.

Lock Jaw 11-24-2022 09:17 AM

Superman getting his secret identity back soon. So part of Bendis' shenanigans being undone already. Unfortunately I don't see Jon Kent de-aging anytime soon.

Actually started going back and re-reading some of Bendis Superman.... and... like, it's not the WORST Superman I've ever read, it just so happened to come after a really excellent run that he chose to throw out the window. Time and distance has helped heal that wound a bit, so I'm not reading it "angrily" any more....

@lock jaw

Josh Williamson taking over Supes in February with an all-new Superman #1

I like Williamson but donut know what I think of Dark Crisis yet...like the idea of it but sometimes the stakes don't feel high enough to be a crisis...art is insanely good though and I like that Nightwing and Jon Kent are the leads

slik 11-24-2022 07:00 PM

1 more issue to go of dark crisis, hulked up deathstroke stepping up to be the big bad of the final issue...

I am "special" so I can't just skip ahead.... need to catch up and read on everything Superman in between when I stopped and the present...

slik 11-24-2022 08:13 PM

u will probably like the warworld saga

slik 11-25-2022 10:45 AM

Mark Waid/Dan Mora, that currently do the very well received 'World's Finest' will be doing a Shazam series for DC in early-mid 2023.

Dan Mora probably the best artist in all of DC right now (imo)

Lock Jaw 11-29-2022 09:59 PM

Just read the "Dial H for Hero" series from a couple years back (from the "Wonder Comics" imprint) and it was pretty great. Pretty much would be the most "unknown" property ever, but I'd love to see it get adapted to a film or series... seems like it would be right up James Gunn's alley.

Lock Jaw 12-07-2022 08:01 PM

The second one was kinda 'naff, so could actually be a good thing to get more of a "shared unifying vision" on it of what/who Wonder Woman should be going forward. I'd still get Gal Gadot to be Diana of course... just no more of this "movie isn't set in the present" stuff. Do something to really establish what she means here and now for the world.

slik 12-07-2022 10:08 PM

Sounds like James Gunn might be cleaning house overall

If true, will miss Cavill as Supes...but also understand the need to start with a clean slate.

slik 12-07-2022 10:14 PM

Chip Zdarsky's first Batman story arc 'Failsafe' has now ended...I liked his bat miniseries 'The Knight' but this was just 'eh' for me

Guess we'll see where he goes next...

Think he will still come back.... Gal Gadot too... but I could definitely see a "soft reboot" where they are pretty much playing "new versions"/"definitive versions" of the characters....

Fignuts 12-08-2022 01:05 PM

I'm okay with Gunn leaving GotG if it means he's in charge of DCU.

rez 12-09-2022 02:47 PM

I read a Batman Beyond movie with Keaton was indeed in early planning until Discovery. Gawd, give the people what they want

Lock Jaw 12-14-2022 08:00 PM

Still reading through past things.... just read Grant Morrison's "The Green Lantern" (season 1). It was craptacular.

slik 12-14-2022 08:09 PM

@ lock jaw

do these tentacles hint at Brainiac in your opinion

They hint at the Cosmic Hentai Monster

Coming soon to the DC Universe

Lock Jaw 12-14-2022 09:50 PM

Reports also say that it will not be set in Smallville, and that he will already be in Metropolis.....

I just want a good Superman movie, so please give it to me. Early days could be good, getting used to the big city, finding his place and role as both Clark and Superman....

I know Lex Luthor is maybe "overplayed" but I think a role similar to Superman: Birthright could be good, where he is sowing misinformation in order to create distrust against Superman before Superman wins over the people by being Superman.

Fignuts 12-15-2022 12:03 AM

We definitely need something fresh, like Superman learning to use his powers and using self control against bullies in his civilian life.

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-15-2022 12:26 PM

Perhaps Cavill will now return to The Witcher and they will fire the naff showrunners, and finally do the IP characters/stories justice.

Maybe need to explore where he from as well?

Kalyx triaD 12-15-2022 02:12 PM

I had a feeling it would be a clean slate.

But man was Henry shafted. And they can't just give him an out of context movie like The Batman because it would absolutely suck the air out of the room and hurt the new canon Supes. Just sucks.

Lock Jaw 12-15-2022 02:46 PM

Really really shafted if he left Witcher to be Supes

Fignuts 12-15-2022 03:14 PM

I can't begin to elaborate on the fucks I don't give about another young superman story.

They had an oppurtunity with cavill to take the character into stories we really haven't seen on screen.

This is fucking bullshit. I'm not even a dc fan. I'm a marvel guy and even im offended by this decision.

It wasn't just that. He also heavily disagreed with all the changes they were making from the source material.

slik 12-16-2022 01:10 AM

I'm ok with moving on in a different direction, that's the nature of storytelling with characters who exist beyond generations.

The comics do it all the time.

slik 12-16-2022 01:12 AM

If you like Bats, Supes, Flash, Green Lantern, etc

At the end of the day all that matters is a good story involving a character you like. So many comic book characters are more multi-faceted than one story and one film series.

slik 12-16-2022 01:16 AM

This reaction happens time and time again to the point it's comical...

"I can't believe __________ was cast as Batman, this will be awful"

Fignuts 12-16-2022 01:41 AM

Getting a new actor wouldn't be so bad if they were telling new stories with him. Part of the reason tom holland's spider-man has been so well praised is that they skipped the uncle ben shit and immediately put him in fresh new stories and situations right out of the gate.

slik 12-16-2022 02:17 AM

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-conversation="none"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">No way. <a href="https://t.co/BC8dLwfblV">https://t.co/BC8dLwfblV</a></p>&mdash; James Gunn (@JamesGunn) <a href="https://twitter.com/JamesGunn/status/1603209616719892480?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">December 15, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Fignuts 12-16-2022 03:09 AM

You're missing the point. Cavill's Superman was established well enough where you could take the character new places and tell new stories.

Another round of clark learning his powers and dealing with civilian life is not that.

Blonde Moment 12-16-2022 06:21 AM

You can't raise the stakes for the character when he's constantly coming to the big city and running across Lois for the first time

Lock Jaw 12-16-2022 08:47 AM

Just gimme a good story, man. I don't care if it is another "finding his place" story if it is actually done right.

I'm just excited at another Superman movie, and will cling to hope for it. Cavill did prove himself to me in Joss Whedon's Justice League, but I'm not "mad" about starting fresh with a new actor and "washing any negative associations" away.

Lock Jaw 12-16-2022 08:49 AM

From what I am hearing sounds like they are going to "The Batman" it.... where he is young but already knows all the principal characters and is established in his role... but still has room to learn new things and meet villains for the first time

Kalyx triaD 12-16-2022 01:10 PM

Gotta meet Lois again. Gotta face Lex for the first time. Gotta meet Batman (and fight him), meet Diana. Form JL again. Etc.

We're talking about a decade of stuff at least before we even get post credits teases of New Gods. By then MCU will be in its 3rd saga where Nova makes a billion dollars.

slik 12-16-2022 02:34 PM

I always wonder what George Miller's Justice League film would have been like, with OMAC/Brother Eye/Maxwell Lord as the big bads

In hindsight, Armie Hammer being cast as Bats and it not happening did save us from cannibal bat jokes down the line. Adam Brody from the OC probably would have been fine as Barry Allen.
