Yeah it seems the big-big wigs of Sony are willing to undercut Sony Pictures and strike a deal with Marvel Studios - that would in turn undercut Sony's deal with Marvel proper.

It's confusing and stupid.

But the jist is Sony would rather Marvel Studios make blockbuster Spidey movies and get some money out of it, then have Sony Pictures limp along until they literally can't afford the sinking ship (and then Marvel gets it back anyway). Spidey heading to the MCU this way makes sure Sony gets money for his film appearances. This wouldn't even be on the table if Sony was confident their studio could knock it out of the park.

There's rumor that Marvel Studios is so sure of this outcome Spidey had a slot in a draft of Civil War, but Sony's waiting it out on the off-chance Amazing 3 is spectacular or whatever.

Amazing 1 was so-so and I did like Amazing 2, but I think Spidey's going home by Phase 4.

Not making Guardians of the Galaxy type money. That's the bar. You don't get that, or at least 1.5x your budget back, you misstepped.

Didn't help that Amazing 2 was shite.

Fignuts 12-14-2014 02:21 AM

The ending of Amazing 2 was weird and awkward. Smashed together in 10 minutes what could have been the plot of Amazing 3. Should of just ended at Gwen's funeral.

X-Men to follow? :D

Marvel and Fox should try to make a co-production deal.

Kalyx triaD 12-14-2014 10:17 AM

First Class and Days have the bittersweet distinction of being really good movies. The Apocalypse, Deadpool, and Gambit buzz alone guarantees Fox a very high bargaining platform. Marvel would have to make a good case. It helps that Hugh Jackman is very open about playing in the MCU.

parkmania 12-14-2014 08:44 PM

Is there any chance at all that Pacino ends up being Dr. Strange?

McLegend 12-14-2014 08:46 PM

Bendict Cumberbatch is Dr. Strange.

parkmania 12-14-2014 09:15 PM

Didn't realize that was official.

Never mind.

Shadow 12-15-2014 04:23 PM

He's also a bit too old to the the Sorcerer Supreme.

Kalyx triaD 12-18-2014 07:22 PM

Back in the 616, Spider-Woman is getting a new costume. Something 'streetwise' and not unlike Batgirl's new duds:

The suit will debut next year.

Fignuts 12-18-2014 10:24 PM

eh, I like the old one.

Lock Jaw 12-18-2014 11:27 PM

Reminds me of The Tarantula from DC Comics....

Kalyx triaD 12-19-2014 01:38 AM

She takes love.

Inadequacy 12-19-2014 12:37 PM

I love it, especially that Javier Rodriguez will be illustrating instead of Greg Land. Hopefully the artist change is permanent.

Kluh is stupid as fuck.

"Hey, we heard you like Hulk, so we put a Hulk in your Hulk..."

For real.

Miotch 12-22-2014 02:10 PM

Read Age of Ultron.

Was thoroughly unimpressed.

alvarado52 12-22-2014 04:05 PM

Well its clear that the film isnt going to go with the whole time travel thing. Its really just the name being borrowed from what it looks like.

AoU had its highs and lows...but the ending was pretty huge in terms of opening up doors for new characters/iterations and crossovers.

Fignuts 12-22-2014 06:52 PM

I did mark out for Angela, but yeah, World War Hulk and House of M have been the only big crossovers I've really liked in the last 10 years.

Still been a lot of great stuff in Marvel's monthly titles though.

Fignuts 12-22-2014 06:55 PM

Try Earth X and Universe X. Those are supposed to be pretty good.

Lock Jaw 12-22-2014 06:57 PM

I started reading Marvel with House of M. Which was kinda weird to do, because for a lot of the characters I didn't really know, the first version I read was an alternate timeline version. I am way behind now. So behind that the last major event I read was Siege.

Wow that really was pretty fucking fantastic.

Kalyx triaD 12-23-2014 01:13 PM

Jaimie Alexander has teased on Twitter that she did some Sif stuff for... who knows. She didn't say. Age of Ultron, SHIELD, Ant-Man reshoots, who knows.

Sixx 12-25-2014 09:51 AM

AXIS just finished. Stupid event.

SPOILER: show
So Sabretooth didn't go back to being bad, he's a good guy now. Guess he's kind of a Wolverine replacement for the time being.

Fignuts 12-25-2014 10:12 AM

SPOILER: show
Fucking hate when they try to make Sabretooth a good guy. So fucking stupid

That fuckin' letter he wrote to Logan at the end of AXIS #9. Jesus.

Best part of AXIS was probably Carnage trying to be a good guy, because it was pretty damn hilarious.

Shadow 12-25-2014 11:27 AM

Did that at least take?

alvarado52 12-29-2014 01:45 AM

Vinnie Diesel updated his FB cover photo with a picture of him and "are you Inhuman"....maybe hinting?

Kalyx triaD 12-29-2014 04:39 AM

His named was linked to Black Bolt way back. Dunno if he's actually in the running.

That' some horrible casting.

Then again it would be pretty hilarious if one of his characters was voice only and the other everything but.

Fignuts 12-29-2014 01:44 PM

Yeah, if anything he might make a good Gorgon, but I definitely can't see him as Black Bolt.

alvarado52 12-30-2014 02:35 PM

I'd imagine they're going to ditch the "speaking destroys errthang" stipulation to Black Bolt in the flim...I mean, I cant really imagine Marvel having the leader of the Inhumans just making faces for 2 hours. Works in books, probably not so much in film.

Kalyx triaD 12-30-2014 04:30 PM

This would be the same studio that made a talking gun toting racoon work on film.

If they get a competent actor they can. Not Vin Diesel.

Not really the same thing. That's pretty awesome.

Rammsteinmad 12-31-2014 05:46 AM

I don't think they'd make Black Bolt talk. Most of what they've done so far has been somewhat loyal to the comics, and has catered to comic fans whilst still appealing to mainstream audiences.

Groot was one of the most loved characters from Guardians. I've seen him all over any Marvel advertising/displays at work, and yet his only dialogue consists of three words throughout the whole movie. Black Bolt not talking on film will work.
