The Destroyer 11-23-2014 05:10 PM

Yeah that was from Ultimates 2, so you've definitely read one.

Yeah that part was really dumb, but pretty much everything outside of Ultimates 3 is good.

All New Ultimates are some C-level superheroes, not a fan of this one.

And The Ultimate Spiderman got pretty weird this last volume.

SPOILER: show
You know how people always praise the Ultimate Marvel for actually keeping heroes dead once they die? Well, Norman Osborn came back from the dead twice already and Peter Parker recently showed up again and they didn't even try to explain it. When asked how come he's alive he was like "Dunno, weird, eh?".

Nowhere Man 11-24-2014 02:24 PM

That's not even mentioning

SPOILER: show
Carnage eating Gwen Stacy, then later basically pooping out a new one

Lock Jaw 11-26-2014 09:54 PM

Apparently in the latest issue of The Punisher, they kill off the Fantastic Four. Or rather the cast playing the Fantastic Four in the upcoming movie.

McLegend 11-27-2014 01:51 AM

That doesn't seem like a good sign.

Yeah, here it is:

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansit...news/?a=111604

It went over my head when I read the Punisher, though.

Shadow 11-27-2014 08:58 AM

Woooooow. Marvel really does not like what Fox did with this movie.

JimmyMess 12-04-2014 06:44 PM

http://ca.ign.com/articles/2014/12/0...doctor-strange

Benedict Cumberbatch is Dr. Strange...

Kalyx triaD 12-04-2014 06:55 PM

Wasn't that confirmed already?

JimmyMess 12-04-2014 06:59 PM

apparently not.

Kalyx triaD 12-04-2014 07:01 PM

Oh.

Well Krysten Ritter is Jessica Jones.

JimmyMess 12-05-2014 08:00 AM

I'm looking forward to a proper telling of Deadpool as well, with Mr. Ryan Reynolds. I have faith.

Al Pacino expressed interest in the MCU, and he has met with Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige himself.

So... taking on a known character or going the Coulson/Senator Stern original route? On the former, who do you think Scarface could be?

Sixx 12-11-2014 10:18 PM

He could be J'son of Spartax, but they ain't going with that guy as Peter's father, so I doubt he'll show up at all.

Miotch 12-12-2014 06:04 PM

OK people. I signed up for Marvel Unlimited, so what the fuck should I read?

Looking at you, Fignuts, but anyone else can feel free to chime in.

Fignuts 12-12-2014 07:04 PM

Captain America 2004-2011 is really good. Starts with Winter Soldier.

Ultimates 1 and 2. I'd say avoid Ultimates 3 and Ultimatum, but as bad as the story is, it's a game changer and kind of required reading if you're gonna pick anything up after it. And Ultimate Avengers, and New Ultimates are definitely worth picking up.

Dunno, there's honestly so god damn much that it's hard to reccomend something.

They do have all the Marvel Zombies books, which looking at how many there are now, it looks like they reeeeeaaaaallly ran that into the ground. Haven't read the later ones, but the first few were really good.

Fignuts 12-12-2014 07:05 PM

Oh and if you do read the zombie stuff, make sure you start with Ultimate Fantastic Four #21, because that's where it all started.

Kalyx triaD 12-12-2014 07:19 PM

Basically if Sony missteps one more Spidey movie (be it Sinister Six or Amazing 3), Peter Parker will rub elbows with Stark and Cap as early as Phase 4 recast and everything. And we're already assured they're not interested in a third origin movie, nor will they focus so much on romance as every Spidey film has so far.

Sony's a little salty that they don't want Andrew, though.

Thanks. I've read the Ultimates stuff. The first one is probably a top 5 comic arc for me. I love the gritty nature of it. Flawed heroes and all of that.

I read the first few New Ultimates books recently too. I was hoping for something different, but it's pretty good none the less.

You said Original Sin was shit right? I figured I'd get into it because I can, but I'm not overly engrossed.

Fignuts 12-12-2014 07:42 PM

It wasn't shit. It just doesn't quite live up to the hype that the major crossovers have these days. It's still worth a read, I'd say. Art work is fantastic.

The ones I really hated were Seige, Fear Itself, and X-Men: Battle of the Atom. Those ones are garbage, imo.

Fignuts 12-12-2014 07:45 PM

Pissed that they still haven't revealed who killed the Living Tribunal. Thought that was going to be directly tied to the Watcher's assassination in Original Sin, but I guess not.

Lock Jaw 12-12-2014 07:56 PM

Check out Annihilation if you like space stuff and haven't read it

Fignuts 12-12-2014 08:10 PM

Lock Jaw is correct. All the space stuff from Annihilation onwards is pretty great. Particularly Guardians of the Galaxy, which if you liked the movie, you'll like the book.

Pre-Annihilation space stuff is pretty shit, but Infinity Gauntlet still holds up as one of, if not the best major crossover ever.

Fignuts 12-12-2014 08:10 PM

That's right, fuck your Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Sixx 12-12-2014 08:12 PM

Battle of the Atom was shit indeed. Too much fuckin' time-travel.

I liked Siege, though. Basically liked the whole Osbourn's reign.

Have a big write up in the now dead comics group about why I hated siege. Did they ever explain anywhere why the whole world outside of the superheroes was totally cool with Norman Osborn being in charge of everything, despite being a known psychotic murderer?

Or did Marvel do what they always do, and just retcon it so no one knew he was evil except the good guys.

So you hated the whole Dark Reign?

People just went crazy for the guy who shot the alien queen responsible for the whole invasion of Earth and whatnot. And he did it on live TV.

Shitty explanation, but oh well. It's not like it's the stupidest thing they ever did.

Fignuts 12-12-2014 10:25 PM

Nah, I didn't dislike Dark Reign, it just seemed like a HUGE plothole.

Would be like Charles Manson killing Osama Bin Laden and subsequently becoming head of the CIA for it.

Yeah, I can see why they wouldn't want him. He's like half of a good Spiderman. He's got the asshole part down good like the 90s cartoon but that doesn't work well when he has to be Peter Parker too because he comes of as a prick as Peter too.

Tobey was the better Peter. Garfield is the better Spiderman.

I'd go for Chevok from the new Star Trek movies as Spiderman.

Guess what's gonna happen with both those movies. Go on...guess.

Sixx 12-13-2014 05:51 PM

Sony wanted to do a fucking Aunt May origin story, so it's better they take the rights away from them.

Pardon my ignorance but what constitutes a "misstep" and who makes that call? If Marvel think the film is poor? If it reviews badly? Bad Box Office?

Helmsphere 12-13-2014 07:15 PM

Alright, just downloaded Every Marvel Now Title from the beginning of 2012 to last week. So any ideas where I should start?

Lock Jaw 12-13-2014 07:24 PM

2012?

The main Sony office was not satisfied with Sony Pictures' Spiderman.

So I guess it's still the case.
