lol yeah. i went from completely disinterested to ravenously interested

mitchables 06-21-2022 07:32 PM

100% same tbh. i had zero interest in the first joker movie so have still not seen it (and have seen enough through social media to not need to see it) but this reported decision has earned a lot of goodwill with me for the sequel lol

Destor 06-21-2022 07:37 PM

the climax of the joker is on par with a few good men for films that have a scene so good it demands to be seen. justifies the film its attached to. its an ok film with one of the greatest scenes ever put to screen.

...and it repels the idea of a sequel...but a musical...well...ok. lets go.

the talk show scene?

Destor 06-21-2022 09:38 PM

yes. the build up is obviously important. you couldnt just go in raw and get much out of it (like the scene from A Few Good Men) but its a really oustanding scene.

Tarantino talking about that scene. completely nails it

:D

Lock Jaw 06-29-2022 10:10 AM

Have you watched the show? @ drave

drave 06-29-2022 11:25 AM

I think I watched one or two episodes when I had HBO. Definitely have not watched it enough to know anything about it, other than Ivy & Harley "banging".

Lock Jaw 06-29-2022 12:09 PM

Def worth checking out....

drave 06-29-2022 01:20 PM

Lock Jaw 06-29-2022 02:03 PM

HBO Max does not exist in Canada, sorry. Only "Crave".

Lock Jaw 07-01-2022 01:38 PM

Haven't watched any of S2 other than the first episode, but apparently Superman & Lois officially made it clear that it is no longer part of the Arrow/CWVerse, and it is on a world with only Superman.

RIP Arrowverse. It was fun while it lasted. Sometimes. Still gutted Legends of Tomorrow couldn't get a few more episodes to wrap things up. Though I guess ending the show with them all being thrown in time jail is maybe "apropos"?

Lock Jaw 07-01-2022 11:21 PM

Meanwhile...

<iframe width="932" height="524" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2xeLibvJVIU" title="Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons - Official Trailer" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

So crazy that they let Bendis ruin the Super Sons by aging Jon up.... I hear that maybe Jon's Superman book is good, but.... clearly so much mileage and brand synergy to get out of the Super Sons. So much so that they are still making a movie with them despite not existing anymore.....

slik 07-12-2022 08:44 PM

This looks horrendous

Pretty sure Infinite Crisis was already hyped as the official sequel to Crisis on Infinite Earths

Kill off Jon Kent and bring him back somehow as a kid again

(even though I hear that his series has been good)

slik 07-27-2022 12:20 PM

Whew, they aren't killing him off again...you get a young Jon Kent story again too @ Lock Jaw

The story of how the death of Superman looked from John Henry Iron's perspective: *10 pages of being buried under rubble*

Lock Jaw 07-27-2022 12:43 PM

Death of Superman is what got me into comics big time... had comics here and there, but then saw in the newspaper that Superman had died or was going to die and it was like "oh poop I need to see this"

Begged my dad for it and got it.... would then regularly pick up Superman comics at the convenience store (by which I mean my dad would buy them for me).... I didn't know anything at the time about the monthly release schedule so I would always head to the comics in the convenience store and be so excited when I saw a new one....

Lock Jaw 08-01-2022 02:48 PM

The Flash S9 officially going to be the last, with a shortened 13 episode season. With Superman & Lois moved out of Arrowverse continuity, the universe will officially be coming to an end. (I highly doubt the announced John Diggle "Justice U" spinoff actually gets made)

Was quite the ride sometimes.

The New York Post claims an inside source told the paper that Warner Bros. plans to scrap Batgirl, which was expected to debut on HBO Max. "They think an unspeakable Batgirl is going to be irredeemable," the source said, pointing to the film's alleged reception at test screenings. The news was quickly corroborated by The Wrap and The Hollywood Reporter, though neither outlet claimed it was due to its poor quality. Variety, meanwhile, seemed to put the entire matter to rest: "Studio insiders insist the decision was not driven by the quality of the film or the commitment of the filmmakers, but by the desire for the studio’s slate of DC features to be at a blockbuster scale." The film is estimated to have cost between $70 and $100 million at the time of its cancellation.

Lock Jaw 08-02-2022 07:41 PM

Can't imagine spending that much time and money on making a movie and then just saying "nah"

Lock Jaw 08-02-2022 11:53 PM

Warner Bros. reportedly shelved Batgirl so that the studio could use the film as a tax write off.

According to Variety, several sources have stated that Warner Bros. Discovery will take a tax write-down on Batgirl, and the recently canceled Scoob! Holiday Haunt, which is "seen internally as the most financially sound way to recoup the costs (at least, on an accountant’s ledger)." However, should Warner Bros. choose to move forward with that strategy, the studio would be unable to monetize Batgirl in the future. This means that Warner Bros. would be prevented from releasing the DC Extended Universe film on streaming or in theaters, as well as selling the film to another studio, at any point down the road.

Sepholio 08-03-2022 06:43 AM

Imagine if you will a world in which they just say they are cancelling it and then let the collective internet work its magic and save them 30-40 million in advertising.

Lock Jaw 08-03-2022 09:58 AM

I mean I know people who didn't even know they were making a Batgirl movie until now, so that "marketing strategy" will have worked.....

Shadow 08-03-2022 04:48 PM

Oh the amount of projects Discovery has canceled since getting ahold of Warner Bros is astounding. They're really taking the axe to a lot of content.

Lock Jaw 08-05-2022 12:54 PM

Meanwhile, Ezra Miller continues to work hard to promote the upcoming Flash movie!

Quote:

Ezra Miller, star of Warner Bros.' The Flash, has reportedly spent months driving around the United States, armed and wearing a bulletproof vest, believing they are being followed by the FBI and the Ku Klux Klan.

Better to release nothing and not damage your image further. The money spent is gone. The opportunity cost of bad films echoing through out time is worse.

slik 08-05-2022 05:58 PM

Yet somehow that awful looking Gotham Knights show will live on

CW is jointing owned making tied into a contract with both warner and cbs.

rez 08-08-2022 09:04 PM

Fuck David Zaslav. Batgirl looked good. Made for Love was a great show they left at a cliffhanger. etc. etc. etc.

Marvel will be on like phase 7 or something by the time the rebooted DC gets going.
