Yep, losing non-title matches is the lazy way to make contenders. Harper and Dolph lost all the time as champion too. Surprised Sin Cara isn't in the mix either he beat Bad News as soon as he got the belt.

I still think it's funny/unfortunate that they were talking more about Cesaro's shit gimmick then they cared for the match with the deadlift gutwrench suplex. Then they discussed more on shit gimmick and then they're fully invested in the match come Swiss Death.

A new fragrance from Roman Reigns.

CNN headline news keeps mentioning Undertaker as the #1 Facebook trend for being called out by the new face of fear Bray Wyatt and having a match at WM...but..they use a picture of Taker from his American Badass Biker gimmick.

It actually don't matter to me since i like everyone in the match.

Just seems like it will be Barrett the way things are going.

So, question for all y'all out there that don't have cable/satellite. I'm was thinking about getting Hulu or some other service like it, but I was curious if they actually show RAW and Smackdown on those kinds of things. Anyone know?

OssMan 03-10-2015 06:53 PM

what happened to Adam Rose.. was he permanently "bumped" to Main Event, I don't watch that show, I only know it exists because they taped it when I went to smackDOWN... has the story progressed at all since he beat the shit out of the bunny

Lock Jaw 03-10-2015 07:03 PM

Thanks to Dev Simar for sending word that The Tribune News Service in Punjab, India has an article in today's newspaper about former WWE Superstar The Great Khali. The article notes that Khali has been recovering from surgery on his right leg. Khali was in Chandigarh this week to meet with the Punjab Armed Police officials of the 82nd battalion.

Khali encouraged young police recruits to get into sports and live a healthy lifestyle. He also invited them to join his wrestling academy in Jalandhar, where they will offer free training to recruits. He's also opening another school in the Amin village near Kurukshetra along with international volleyball star Balwan Singh and noted that WWE has asked him to refer three talents per year from his academies.

Khali also promised to people in attendance that he will return to WWE's WrestleMania and one day defeat The Undertaker. Khali told people at the event that he is healthy enough to get back in a WWE ring and will do so.

WWE sent out a "WWE Fan Council" survey about NXT to select members of their mailing list. From the nature of the questions, it seems like they're trying to gauge interest in NXT running shows outside of Florida with questions ranging from the best ticket prices to whether or not fans would travel, how much NXT merchandise the NXT fans are willing to buy (both online and at shows), which indies they follow (if any), and what non-WWE wrestlers they'd like to see in NXT, with a focus on international talent. This should ramp up all of the talk from the last week about whether or not NXT is even a developmental promotion anymore.

It’s possible that some of the writers in WWE believe that The Black Scorpion was one of Sting’s early gimmicks, as most of the WWE writers aren’t exactly wrestling historians. Furthermore, WWE is afraid to have Sting talk in front of the live audience because they believe that his promo skills are as bad as they were when he first burst onto the scene in WCW. However, if you followed Sting’s run in TNA over the last several years, you know that he’s not only become a great promo, but that he’s probably a better promo than the majority of the WWE roster.

They're on Hulu, but heavily edited. Raw clocks in at 90 minutes, for example.

Probably. Tag title match involving The Usos, Los Matadores and Tyson Kidd and/or Cesaro seems to be WWE's preferred pre-show formula. If they do it this year, it'll be the 3rd time in 4 years that's been the case.

SOME ONE MUST WIN!

I'm expecting the belt and ladders to just vanish and everyone loses.

Emperor Smeat 03-10-2015 09:33 PM

Would be a perfect time to bring back the "who raised the briefcase" mystery as a way to get rid of the IC belt. Maybe even the ladders as well so all that's left is the comically small one and comically large one for future matches.

Emperor Smeat 03-10-2015 10:02 PM

From Reddit about what the mysterious talent-only meeting the WWE had last night was about.

Quote:

Just listened to the latest Wrestling Observer Radio. According to Dave the gist of the meeting was to tell the talent that if they had a problem (as in the problems that were had with Bill Demott) to come to management and let them know first. Bryan Alvarez remarked sarcastically that in the past "it did wonders for a lot of people." Dave also talks about how even though Demott is gone, racism and prejudice will still be part of the business because that's the mentality of those in charge.

Mr. Nerfect 03-10-2015 10:16 PM

I'm not trying to bitch for the sake of bitching, but I really can't see this WrestleMania going well. All the performances will be "solid," but the emotional storytelling just isn't there. No one really feels like they are in the right place either. It's all really odd. Gusy are either too low or too high on the card. The thing I am most interested in is the crowd reaction.

RAW gets cut to 90 minutes, but feels better. Some good stuff can be cut though. The whole Wizdow segment and subsequent performance was cut in addition to the diva stuff this week.

They bring The Ascension up, bury them on commentary, have some old-timers get one over on them, beat the NAO at the Rumble, have PTP get back together and hand The Ascension their first loss...then establish a Tag Team Title match to feature Los Matadores and New Day, whilst PTP (and presumably The Ascension) go into the Battle Royal!?

As noted earlier, after tonight's RAW went off the air Seth Rollins was put into a neck brace and taken out on a stretcher. WrestlingINC.com correspondent Eric Z noted that the show didn't end there. The whole process of the doctors checking on Rollins and taking him to the back took a while and the crowd started to leave. However, John Cena's music hit and he came out and challenged Bray Wyatt to a match. Bray came out but didn't want to get in the ring. Cena started to sing, "he's got no pearls, in his pants" until Wyatt attacked. After a short standard match, Cena won with an AA after kicking out of Sister Abigail

Shortly after that news came out, another incident related to the Demott scandal came out that basically blasted management and Tommy Dreamer. http://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircl...l_on_earth_my/

Excerpt from the new accusations:
Quote:

When Dave Taylor got there he taught me more in a month than I learned the entire time I was there. Dave Taylor asked me "Why dont you have a match?" I told him"Bill says Im not ready." ....His reply was: " What the hell does Bill mean you arent ready??? You are bloody ready!!!" So again I started asking him for matches and he would say..."Are you sure ?????? If you mess up and they see it It will all be over" When I asked Tommy Dreamer if I could leave and go to OVW because I was being tortured by Bill and his crew, he told me that if I went there then I was increasing my chances of getting fired. Tommy Dreamer himself told me that if I called the office to report Bill that I was increasing my chances of getting fired. Tommy said that Vince would just get rid of me for making any waves what so ever. Ive been trying to scream from the mountaintops from day one, but I didn't know that I was crying to Bill's friend Tommy Dreamer while they were at Bills house, sitting at his dinner table that night. How do I know this??? Bill let me know if front of the class as they laughed... Some people laughed just because they had to. They all knew it was coming that day. Tommy Dreamer had me on speaker phone so!

Some other sheet news include:
  • According to someone with a lot of time on NeoGAF's wrestling thread, this week's edition of RAW was the 7th lowest rated March episode in Mania season history (5 occurred in 1997 and 1 in 1996).
  • The whole #GiveDivasAChance initiative managed to last a whole week before the WWE lost interest since the Wiz Khalifa concert got more time than both Divas matches combined on RAW.
  • According to a recent Jericho podcast, Justin Gabriel was the wrestler who played the Bunny the most during its run while Creative had plans for a Gothic bunny suit had the character lasted longer.

"Ain't No Grave" would be an appropriate theme for him to use this year. I know it's been used for him before but I can't remember if he came out to it at one point or if it was just for a promo video.

He used it at WM 27

I really hope they use the vintage Crow Sting theme at Mania.

Rusev's getting a special entrance for Mania:

Cena will be then too.

Lock Jaw 03-12-2015 05:54 PM

I want to see a "Dark Knight Rises"esque scene now where Cena, leading a bunch of "American Troops" rushes at Rusev, leading a bunch of "Russian Troops".....

Emperor Smeat 03-12-2015 06:20 PM

And then Hogan appears as the "third man" only to turn his back on Cena and America. Gets renamed to whatever the equivalent of Hollywood Hogan is in Russia.

Could be looking at Rock-Hogan Mania 18 level of booing if done correctly. Or maybe the hugest cheer ever since it was done to Cena.

TNA's Bob Ryder says the company had meetings this week about running live events again. Ryder noted that live events could resume in June. He tweeted: "Had meetings yesterday about plans to add several non-televised live events starting as soon as June. Stay tuned for details. #TNAonTour"

There's also a feeling within TNA that the crew was presented with the idea that things were better and would be getting better after the move to Destination, but things aren't getting better. We're now a few months into the latest major reboot for TNA and the only events the company is running are TV tapings. There is no sign of live events being scheduled any time soon. TNA canceling the April tapings and replacing them with tapings in May really had the wrestlers worried recently as this means the promotion will essentially be "dark" for a few months with no pay being earned for the talents. Talents who have been with TNA for a while are seeing top stars leave with no real growth being made by the company. There's a feeling among some of the wrestlers that they were presented with the "best case scenario" but since that isn't how things have turned out, it might be time for TNA officials to sit down and update them on what's going on and what the future holds.

However, Jarrett has been unable to secure a deal for this concept also. Jarrett's idea is to do a test-run live special that would feature talents from the indies, AAA and New Japan Pro Wrestling under the GFW banner.

We've noted that Jarrett is expected to make some kind of announcement later this month. PWInsider reported earlier this month that GFW was expected to announce TV tapings for Las Vegas soon. Jarrett has been negotiating with an arena in Las Vegas that would be the home for GFW.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE officials are looking at offering contracts to several ROH talents. The company is waiting for the contracts of those talents to expire so that they can begin talks.

The site notes that the idea behind NXT has changed from training new talents from the bottom to the man roster, to bringing in top names for the NXT brand itself. The plan would be to replace some of the top indie stars who can already work good matches with more indie stars.

On the recent Cheap Heat podcast, they had Chris Hero talk about his NXT experiences, Demott, current WWE, etc.

In the discussion, he briefly mentioned there was a plan to turn Cena heel in 2011 after Mania. He mentioned it as an after thought, but Rosenberg and Masked Man freaked when they heard this and demanded the whole story.

How far along the plan or idea was, it wasn't discussed. But it was far enough or even relevant enough for Cena to put a $5,000 deposit down with a woman who makes wrestling gear. As in, no more jean shorts and sneakers. The deposit was for actual wrestling boots, trunks, etc to change everything about his in-ring style for the heel turn.

At some point, WWE came to him and said "Sorry, plan changed/idea nixed, you're never turning heel" The point of his "Cena is a good dude story" was that since he couldn't get the $5,000 deposit back, he let developmental use the money to reward guys who they felt were working hard with a $500 week bonus/scholarship or whatever you want to call it for new ring gear.

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but this was the first time I've ever heard this, and by Rosenberg and Shoemaker's reaction, it was their first time too. Of course it didn't happen and it probably wasn't close to, but it had to have been discussed enough for Cena to put $5,000 down of his own money for traditional boots and in ring gear. The story blew my mind.

EDIT - I think Hero messed up the date, should be after Mania 2012 because Hero started in early 2012. 44 mins into the podcast the story begins. Says Cena came down to developmental face to face, so he just got the year wrong.
Source is from Reddit. May or may not have also included a Ric Flair-like robe for entrances.

On an somewhat related note, I met Jericho for the second time last night! Only briefly though, just a photo and a handshake, and all the other Fozzy guys who are super cool and humble and very chatty. Was an awesome night and Jericho gave me the mic to sing back part of the chorus of 'Eat the Rich'. Second Fozzy gig for me and these guys just keep getting better and better.

Yes! That was Julie and Leese!!! They've followed Fozzy around every concert this year since they hit England, they're mega fans, and friends of mine. Julie made a few of these, one for Chris, and a couple for them. They've taken me all around England, there's a HEAP of photos :)
