Finished Roanoke. Didn't really care for it unfortunately. Don't often like found footage/fake documentary movies. Tbh it didn't even feel like AHS after watching like 6 other seasons.
Watching Cult now. Also very different and not what I was expecting. Election hysteria and the like were the last thing on my mind going in with no knowledge of it. I must say I do like the guy morphing into a cult leader. Interesting character there, especially the way he plays it. |
Asylum is my all-time favorite season
Murder House, Hotel and 1984 are my other favorites (in no particular order) |
Finished the 1981 'epic' mini-series, The Manions of America, starring Pierce Brosnan and Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway).
It is set between the 1840s and the Fenian Rising (1867), and is about an Irish farmer (Brosnan) who dreams of a free Ireland, but is forced to flee to America, where he slowly works his way up until he is in a position to help his fellow Irishmen in the 'cause.' By modern standards, it is fairly naff and there is some godawful Irish accents (I'm looking at you Linda Purl), and there are some ridiculous moments that are occasionally added to inject fresh drama into the proceedings. But, it is also fairly easy to watch and the three 90-minute episodes fly-by. However, it is nowhere near the top drawer 80s programming of Jewel in the Crown and Brideshead Revisited. |
Pen15 was really good. I like me some cringe comedy. Some of the background stuff that was happening was super relatable simply due to the fact I was in middle school at the same time period this show was set in.
Like the music they used made me really nostalgic. And that damn AIM episode... |
Holly Hunter was a terrible addition to Succession.
Sarah Snook already plays her role, same speech impediment and everything. My ears can’t take it. |
The Kendall rap bit is actually mind blowing shit man... what the fuck.
|
AHS: 1984 was ok. Nailed the 80s camp vibe. Also delivered another character I thoroughly enjoy in Mr. Jingles.
|
I've finished season 5 of Billions. Everyone in this show is, to varying degrees, absolute arseholes, but great to watch. I believe season 6 starts next week, so once it is fully up I will watch that one as well.
Slowly but surely I've watched seasons 1-3 of Ripper Street. I'm not sure if I'll watch the other two seasons; I probably will, but I'm not in a rush. |
I believe the last episode of The Expanse is released tomorrow, so I'm going to re-watch season 5 before I tackle the final season.

The Critical Drinker does it again.

Wait the final season of The Expanse is out? Shweet.
Finally finished all of AHS. The Red Tide half of Double Feature was excellent. Really liked it. Hope to see McCauley back in the future too. Death Valley was ok up until the abrupt af ending. Felt like it needed at least another episode or 2. Can't think of any other season that ended up on such a cliffhanger. Now I'm left wondering where this story thread will be picked up in the future seasons. |
Completed the last season of "F Is For Family"
|
Starting Archive 81. Seems intriguing. Hope it's good.
Will watch the end of The Expanse after this. |
Series 3 of After Life was decent enough but with some truly outstanding moments of comedy dotted around. It’s dreadfully formulaic though, far too many musical montages.
|
Archive 81 is not what I was expecting but it's still pretty good so far. Very dark and ominous feeling show.
Just saw that Raised by Wolves season 2 comes out in like 2 weeks. Super hyped for that one. |
OK I watched another episode and this show is REALLY not what I was expecting. It gets weird.

Did After Life S3 over two nights. Had me in tears. Again.
|
Finished the final season of The Expanse.
As always, the show grabs you like a motherfucker. But, it was also a fairly weak way to go. The war with Marco Inaros and its conclusion felt rushed, and there are several unresolved matters: what are the entities in the space gates, and what the hell was happening on and above the planet of Laconia. I think if they had had double the episodes in this final season, they could have resolved everything in a more satisfactory fashion. Hopefully, Netflix or perhaps another service might pick it for another season or 2; probably not though. |
I just finished The Expanse as well. And I get the feeling that they are definitely not done with the series. That credits tease all but sealed it for me. I dunno if it'll be season 7 or if it'll be a movie. But they have something else planned for sure.

just started s3 today. i dont binge though. i just watch 1 ep a day so itll take me a few to get through it. 301 sets all the characters up real well though
|
I watched it all back to back to back to back to back to back.
|
For whatever reason decided to watch Batwoman season 2..... once you get past the suuuuuper awkwardness of having to deal with losing their main star and switching gears on all their planned storylines you realize that the new chick is like 10x better than Ruby Rose ever was. Still not a great show by any stretch, but I'm a sucker for superhero stuff.
|
Currently watching... The Peacemaker
just finished Succession (loved it) and Yellowjackets (really liked it). |
Breezed through archive 81 and it definitely got really weird really quick. Enjoyed it. Wonder if there’ll be a second season.
|
Starting a rewatch of Community. I remember it being uproariously funny for a few seasons but I don’t think I ever watched it all the way through.
|
The first two seasons are absolutely brilliant, then the brilliant moments start getting fewer and fewer but you still want to watch....

3 episodes in to The Legend of Vox Machina and it is far better than i thought it would be. A little raunchier perhaps then i would like so it can't really be shown to preteens unless they are around such language already, but otherwise i think it is fantastic, even with the horny, sex craved gnomish bard.
|
I decided to stick on 1883 seeing as it’s a short run series by Taylor Sheridan(Sicario, Hell or High Water, Wind River). Turns out I will probably have to watch Yellowstone now as he also created/write that.
Sam Elliot has a speech in episode 3 that is effectively viagra for violence. He more or less does the Clint Eastwood climax speech from Unforgiven if you turn the sympathy way up and the sociopath way down. Still good though. Tim McGraw is good, he would be better used as a bad guy though given his dead eyes and complete lack of expression. I guess making him a former Confederate prisoner of war works towards explaining the face I guess. The hot daughter looks just like Jennifer Lawrence. Stupid voice though. The little kid is even worse, wee bastard should not have dialogue until he can speak properly. |
just learned that one of the actors in season 2 of Euphoria is a porn star and the showrunner liked her porn so he offered her a role on the show...she is a pretty funny character
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">I spoke to the hilarious Chloe Cherry (<a href="https://twitter.com/chloecherryxxx?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@chloecherryxxx</a>), the porn star stealing scenes every week on <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Euphoria?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Euphoria</a>: <a href="https://t.co/y3nxyYoyiG">https://t.co/y3nxyYoyiG</a></p>— Marlow Stern (@MarlowNYC) <a href="https://twitter.com/MarlowNYC/status/1487930333387440136?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 30, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
She’s playing a prostitute, they always play prostitutes.
I bet if I compiled a list of porn actresses who also acted in “legitimate” media at least 75% will have played a hooker at some point. The other 25% are just playing porn stars or strippers again. |
*Waits for list*
|
*IF* he compiled a list.
If you've been paying attention (no one faults you if you aren't) SOB never follows up on veiled threats unless they end like the part in romcom's where the dude dies from cancer finally and everyone has the biggest sad. |
I do like to bring the mood down before I get the party started, that’s a fact.
|
There is this girl on Euphoria that might have the best tits in the world.

The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window
Binged it last night. Loved it...I went into it thinking it was going to be a horror spoof comedy. Wrong-o |
We Need To Talk About Cosby. Pretty wild. Guy loved drugging women. Awful. Fuckin loved The Cosby Show.

The Cosby Show was fucking crap man.
|
No it wasn’t. You’re crap.
|
It was childishly obvious TV for eejits, making it the most popular sitcom in America.
|
Chuck Lorre is objectively funnier than Bill Cosby.
He’s white though so nobody likes him, in fact he would probably lose a popularity contest with Bill Cosby even now. Bill Cosby is like the least funny black guy of all time. There were one handed children in the Belgian Congo that were funnier than Bill Cosby. I don’t get Cosby at all. The revelations didn’t even surprise me because nothing about him interests me enough for me to absorb any of it on an emotional level. |
Quote:
Jesus TF Christ this had me crying. Also agree. Eddie Murphy - there's a funny black guy. |
You guys are dorks.

with good comedic tastes who aren't rapists.
im okay being on that side. |
I made a joke about a medallion in the jewellers being big enough to knock a woman out with so I could drag her into a cave the other day and the jeweller called me a “fucking rapist” and then went bright red and buried her face in her arms when I called her out on it.
She’s pretty hot. |
!!!!!!!
|
Rewatching Preacher because it's one of my favorite comfort shows. So good.
|
Ohhhh yeah... forgot that show existed.... had it all on my DVR.... watched the first season and then my DVR died and I lost it all and forgot about it....
|
I finally got round to watching the 1985 drama series, Edge of Darkness.
It is about a Yorkshire policeman who investigates the death of his daughter, who is murdered in front of him, which he finds is part of a wider conspiracy involving nuclear waste and the illegal manufacturing of plutonium. For an 80's series, it is weighty and fairly complex, and it is also somewhat grim and moody. The lead actor, Bob Peck, is fantastic and I'm not sure why he didn't go on to be a star either in British TV or film (though granted, he died of cancer in 1999). Joanne Whalley and Joe Don Baker are also highlights in the show. I'm not sure if I would put it up there with Brideshead Revisited or The Jewel in the Crown, which are the shows all other 80's productions are judged against, but it is definitely knocking at the door. |
Whatched the first episode of Pam & Tommy. Pretty decent with a stellar cast.
|
I’ve been going through Everybody Loves Raymond and to be honest it must be the greatest family comedy ever made.
I cannot name one that comes close. |
I laugh out loud at every stupid joke that the show makes.
|
The show definitely holds up.
|
I rewatched Raymond and was shocked how much I enjoyed it. The cast is so strong, and really brings the material up a notch.
|
ELR is awesome.
|
Finished the first season of The Black List. It's an above-average show that is taken up a notch by James Spader's performance.
|
I haven't dived through this thread but I highly recommend Tacoma FD. Easy watch comedy. Great for when you just want to turn your brain off and chill. From two of the guys in Super ztroopers.
|
Finished the first season of Reacher. I watched it across a couple of days.
I've never read the books, but it seemed more convincing than the Tom Cruise films. |
Yeah I finished it today too.
The violence was pretty note-perfect. He actually fights just like he does in the books which really caught me off guard and impressed me. The dialogue is pretty basic, hokey stuff but admittedly Alan Ritchson was just a perfect choice for the role with his ability to look so sincere no matter how ludicrous the scenario. Hopefully they do a few more because this will have an audience after the Tom Cruise version. It’s far more in line with the writing and there’s no metaphor in his size, he really is an unstoppable force. It’s good for what it is, but it isn’t doing anything new by any means. |
Saw Alan Ritchson and now I miss Alan Rickman :(
|
Anyone watching Celebrity Big Brother? #teamchriskattan

Very confident Zendaya will get another Emmy nom for Euphoria after season 2, ep 5...very wild episode
Also currently watching HBO series 'somebody, somewhere' and really enjoying it...lead actress of it should also get a Emmy nom IMO |
Loving Peacemaker
|
Been binging Arcane on Netflix today to take my mind off being under the weather.... started slow but turning out pretty good... all drawn into this world now and stuff....
|
Finished the last episode of Arcane.... damn.... want more....
|
It is fucking awesome.
|
The Curse was a hilarious wee comedy mini-series just released. I loved it.
1883 is coming to a hell of a climax... Peacemaker is typical James Gunn brilliance, an effort to appear effortless. It is the benchmark of brilliance in superhero tv. Snowpiercer is back and bringing the fantasy of science back to life. Westworld season 3 is “tits”... |
1000 lbs Sisters. I'm addicted.

Watching "Murderville" on Netflix.... Will Arnett is always great....
Partners with a different "celebrity" every episode to "solve a murder"... the celebrities don't have a script and it is all improv... Just watched episode where his partner was Kumail Nanjiani and gotta say that Kumail was super terrible at it.... like "refused" to go along with the improv a lot of the time, and continually just broke and cracked up...... episode before had "Marshawn Lynch" who is apparently some sort of football player I guess, and he was better at it than the professional actor.... Will Arnett still makes it enjoyable though.... |
Cobra Kai season 4

Finished watching Sharp Objects; a limited HBO drama starring Amy Adams and Patricia Clarkson. The story revolves around Adams' character returning to her home town to report on the murder of two young girls. A secondary theme examines her troubled relationship with her mother, and unresolved issues surrounding the death of one of her younger sisters, which plays into the main story arc.
There is an unsettling feel throughout the series, and the story develops very slowly, but I also found myself rather drawn into it as well. If you are patient, I think you will dig it. |
Quote:
The UK version is far, far better. Murderville is an embarrassment to the franchise. It’s not even real improv and they’re using the wrong sort of celebrity. You want reality TV stars and TV presenters, not film stars and comedians, they try to take over. The UK version is almost entirely unscripted, they just run with a plot outline and improvise the entire show. It’s classic. That they fucked up the US version is pretty incredible given how ludicrously cheap the original must have been to make. |
Read the Wiki of the original UK version and it said that it is half about actors playing versions of celebrities and that sounds hellish.....
|
They are comedians and comic actors doing farcical impressions. Simon Cowell is the Mayor or something. It is high level shit when it gets going.
|
Murder In Successville wasn’t just about improv, it was about improv in a ridiculous environment wherein a town is run by celebrities in positions of power and people keep dying in nutty ways.
The corpsing was part of the charm, North America gets that so badly wrong with its adaptations... you are heathens with regard to comic subtlety. |
Peacemaker ended as brilliantly as it began, and must be the most outright enjoyable DC production ever made. That was pure entertainment from top to bottom and it blended genres beautifully.
The Nolan Batman films are the best action DC has ever produced, Joker was the best drama, The Suicide Squad has to be the best comedy and Shazam! is the best offering for kids but this is the best overall. I really do love James Gunn. |

Watched Ozark. Man they need to hurry up and drop the second half of the final season. These hos left me hanging.
Might have to watch Euphoria based on GDs reaction post there. I love fucked up TV. |
Y'all see the last episode of Arthur. Pretty good.
|
Completed WandaVision, What If...?, and Hawkeye.
Caught up with Euphoria. |
Why didn't anyone tell me a new season of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel had started.... Will watch it later once the sun goes down a bit...
|
Watched the first new episode... fantastic...
|
@nice Lock Jaw
|
Forgot how stellar the whole cast is.... watched the first two episodes.... two more out, will watch tomorrow maybe
|
Exceptional show (Miss Maisel). Hard to imagine that it's the same writer/creator/showrunner as Gilmore Girls (though it's easy to believe when you notice the rhythmic, pitter-patter nature of the dialogue.)
|
Tried to watch 2 episodes of the show "Banshee" cause I heard somewhere that it was "great" but it sucks dick... terrible USA Network level show...
|
Been throwing on old episodes of Corner Gas. Love that show.
|
Found it hit and miss... some eps I really liked and others were meh....
Only seen like two episodes of the animated one... just wasn't the same... Covered an graduation ceremony where Eric Peterson got an honourary degree and said words to the graduates... kept waiting for him to call them jackasses but he did not... |
Yeah the animated show isn't very good. I watched the movie and it was sad seeing Emma (Janet Wright) on a scooter. She passed away shortly after.
|
Finished the first season of Mayor of Kingstown.
I enjoy Taylor Sheridan's ability to create shows that are full of arsehole characters that are also very watchable. Once the final episode is out (tomorrow), I will watch another Sheridan show: 1883. |
Taylor Sheridan is writing and producing more prestigious dramatic entertainment than anybody else in America right now.
He is a franchise unto himself. The natural, sane successor to Frank Darabont. |
