Marvel and Fox are currently rumored to be talks for a cross-over film in regards to X-Men and Fantastic Four Fox currently owns for films. Would be similar in idea to Sony letting Spiderman appear in Captain America: Civil War.

Adding some fuel to the rumor being likely true is a recent deal signed by both Marvel and Fox in regards to X-Men characters for tv shows.
Quote:

In addition, Marvel and Fox have already struck a deal over the use of X-Men properties on TV. Marvel has retained the small screen rights to those characters, and the upcoming FX show Legion will be a partnership between the two studios. Another Fox/Marvel show, Hellfire, is also in development.

Alternate universe thing? Rebooted characters? Two versions of characters ala Quicksilver and Wanda?

How will this work?

SlickyTrickyDamon 06-28-2016 12:28 AM

XMen in Agents of Shield? Mutants Vs. InHumans?

Kalyx triaD 06-28-2016 11:42 AM

InHumans (as they were expanded years ago) was Marvel's FU to Fox to begin with so they can use X-Men themes in their own expanded media. At least in the comics a big faceoff is inevitable, but it would be funny if the deal led to these groups meeting.

Apparently a Tetris film is currently in production and for some odd reason its going to be a trilogy of films and the creator implying nobody has an idea of what they are doing.

Similar to recent gaming films, also going to be targeting China as their big source of box office revenue.

Quote:

One of the new Empire’s many scoops and exclusives includes a chat with the man who’s bringing the unlikely-sounding Tetris movie to the big screen, Larry Kasanoff ...

Is this, as rumours have suggested, designed as the first in a trilogy – or Tetr-ilogy, if you will – of Tetris movies? "That’s correct,” he confirms, “and purely because the story we conceived is so big. This isn’t us splitting the last one of our eight movies in two to wring blood out of the stone. It’s just a big story."

The filmmaker, whose CV includes Paul W.S. Anderson’s Mortal Kombat and an exec-producer credit on True Lies, is keen to stress that it won’t just involve anthropomorphised blocks doing battle. "We’re not going to have blocks with feet running around the movie,” he tells Empire, "but it’s great that people think so. It sets the bar rather low!”

The production, currently going by 'Untitled Tetris Sci-fi Project’ on IMDb, is conceived as exactly that. "We want the story to be a surprise, but it’s a big science-fiction movie,” Kasanoff reveals. “I came up with the idea as I was thinking about Tetris and the theme of creating order out of chaos."

Severeal film studios are currently in talks with Nintendo to get rights for a Pokemon film to be made.

Quote:

In the past week, more heads have been turned on Rodeo Drive by elusive Pikachus than by Kardashians, so it’s no surprise that film studios are scrambling to lock down the rights to Pokémon Go. Currently rumored to be leading the pack, however, is the media company behind the Warcraft movie and The Dark Knight—Legendary Pictures.

According to Deadline, the company has been in talks with Nintendo to bring the pocket monsters to the big screen.

“Details are scant at this point, and no deal has been closed, but I am persuaded that it’s headed that way,” reads the report.

Its more like it went back to its roots to the point that it is backwards compatible with Basic, 1st and Second edition adventures (very little work to convert). # and 3.5 can be converted as well but it takes a little more effort. 4th was complete garbage imo and is compatible with nothing

Writer of Thor and co-writer of Guardians of the Galaxy recently got hired to work on a Detective Pikachu film.

Quote:

Last month The Pokémon Company and Legendary Entertainment reached a deal for a new film franchise based around Detective Pikachu. According to Variety, the project has found its writers, too: Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch.

Perlman worked on Thor and co-wrote Guardians of the Galaxy with director James Gunn. She's also writing the remake of Jim Henson (and David Bowie's) cult-classic Labyrinth, co-writing the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, and worked on the Black Widow movie that voice-of-Solid-Snake David Hayter is writing.

Hirsch is the creator of the Disney anime Gravity Falls.

New Punisher series currently in production with the working title of "Crime." Also appears the Punisher will have a bearded look in terms of appearance if the recent teaser image from the set is any indication.

Quote:

According to Comicbook.com, the Punisher show has a working title of Crime. It is unknown when the show will be released. Netflix already has Iron Fist scheduled for next March, while the superhero team-up show The Defenders--which will feature Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist--is expected in late 2017.

However, with the Punisher show now shooting and The Defenders yet to start production, it is possible that it will move ahead of The Defenders in Netflix's Marvel schedule. Iron Fist is the only upcoming series with a confirmed release date--a new teaser this week revealed that it will hit the streaming service on March 17, 2017.

Newest poster for upcoming King Kong film, Kong: Skull Island, was revealed to contain an Easter egg teasing possible connections to the Godzilla series.

Quote:

Today, various movie sites got a new Kong: Skull Island poster in the mail, but it wasn’t just decoration for their walls. As the folks at CS discovered, the poster’s tagline to “Bring the Truth to Light” is quite literal. If you shine a black light on the poster, secrets will be revealed.

Specifically, the poster is covered with notations from the organization MONARCH, which you may recall was the secret government organization in 2014’s Godzilla. If you look closely at the photo, it appears to have some skeletal design of a creature, and near the bottom of the poster the following writing appears:
Quote:

His mouth is fire; his roar the floodwater; his breath is death. Enlil made him guardian of the Cedar Forest, To frighten off the mortal who would venture there. BUT WHO WOULD VENTURE THERE?
As ScreenCrush discovered when they searched for “Enlil Cedar Forest”, they got a search result for “a brief history of Sumerian religion, but what’s important is that the Sumerian god Enlil created a monster named Humbaba to guard the Cedar Forest, the home of the gods, so that no human would try to get up to any shenanigans.”

Warner Bros is currently working on a reboot of Willy Wonka with the possibility of turning it into a series if its successful. Film itself would be a prequel in terms of storyline.

Quote:

David Heyman will produce. Michael Siegel, who is the manager of the Dahl Estate, will exec produce along with Kevin McCormick. “The Secret Life of Pets” scribe Simon Rich is penning the script. Courtenay Valenti is overseeing the project for the studio.

Sources reveal that the film will not be an origin tale, but a standalone movie focused on Wonka and his early adventures. It’s unknown who from the original book series, other than Wonka, will be involved in the project. If the reboot is a hit, it seems likely that characters like Charlie could be seen in future installments of a possible franchise

Ben Affleck's Batman film currently rumored to be plagued with serious script issues according to recent reports.

Quote:

The Ringer published a big piece today titled “Movies Aren’t Dead, but They’ll Never Be the Same” about the state of the movie industry, and one of the people they spoke to was Bret Easton Ellis. Ellis is best known as the author of the book “American Pyscho” (Christian Bale stared in the movie), and apparently he has some big Hollywood friends.

“I was having dinner with a couple of executives who know other executives who are working on the [forthcoming] Batman movie, The Batman,” Ellis told The Ringer.

“And they were just telling me that there are serious problems with the script. And that the executives I was having dinner with were complaining about people who work on the Batman movie. And they just said they went to the studio and they said, ‘Look, the script is … Here’s 30 things that are wrong with it that we can fix.’ And [the executives] said, ‘We don’t care. We don’t really care. The amount of money we’re going to make globally, I mean 70 percent of our audience is not going to be seeing this in English. And it doesn’t really matter, these things that you’re bringing up about the flaws of the script.’ So I do think global concerns play a big part in how movies, and what movies, are being made, obviously.”

Look, we know there are problems with the script. This past summer, Ben Affleck publicly stated that he’s not happy with it. But if everything Bret Easton Ellis said is true about Warner Bros. executives not caring, that’s very concerning! Could that be why Ben Affleck keeps saying “there is no Batman movie”, yet the movie is scheduled to begin shooting in the spring?

Hollywood Reporter and Marvel revealed some new details regarding the upcoming Inhumans tv show. Also plans for an Inhumans film have been dropped.

Quote:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first season of The Inhumans will comprise of eight episodes. As Marvel announced last week, the show is a co-production with IMAX, and the first two episodes will get a worldwide release in IMAX theaters. They will run for two weeks from Labor Day 2017 (September 4) in 1,000 theaters in 74 countries, before making their small-screen debut on ABC. The TV versions will include extra footage.

These opening episodes will be shot entirely with IMAX cameras, while some of the action scenes in the other six will also use the large-format technology. IMAX itself approached Marvel with the idea, and are financing the first two episodes.

An Inhumans movie was first announced in 2014, but no longer appears on Marvel's schedule. The announcement was before the standalone Spider-Man film and Ant-Man and The Wasp had been added to the studio's lineup. In addition, the story of the genetically created superhero race has already been explored on TV in Agents of SHIELD.

Apparently South Park is going to drop the Mr Garrison/Trump stuff from next season's story because the creators felt their satire plans couldn't top the stuff Trump was doing in real life.

Was making it hard for them to come up with something interesting to ridicule Trump since his actions so far have been "way funnier than anything we could come up with" for the wrong reasons. Also because the Trump stuff from last season was never planned to go beyond a few episodes before his surprise election win which made them to drop a lot of their original plans for the overall storyline.

Quote:

“We were really trying to make fun of what was going on, but we couldn’t keep up,” said Parker in an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. “It was, like, what was actually happening was way funnier than anything we could come up with. You know what I mean? So … we decided to just kind of back off and let them do their comedy and we’ll do ours.”

Anyone looking forward to the reinvention of Scarface?
Diego Luna signed on to star in the lead role and Antoine Fuqua dropped out of directing it. Sounds like they are making a Mexican Scarface, could be good. There were 50 odd years between the original and remake and it must be over 30 since that so hopefully it's taken on by the right director because it could easily underwhelm.

Pacino's Scarface is no masterpiece but it is iconic and great fun.

The soundtrack will surely pale in comparison to the sheer eighties-ness of the Pacino film.
At least Diego Luna won't have to make a ridiculous attempt at the Cuban accent this time mang.

Part of the charm tbh

F. Murray Abraham gets no credit for this movie. Sometimes I forget he's even in it.

Warner Bros currently rumored to be in talks with the director of Kingsman: The Secret Service, Matthew Vaughn, to be the director for Superman: Man of Steel 2.

Vaughn teased years ago about being interested in working on a Superman movie and wouldn't go in a Dark Knight series or Man of Steel route in being serious for tone if he had his way.

He almost certainly won't have his way.

A new film in the Matrix series is reportedly in the works according to The Hollywood Reporter. Was originally reported to be a reboot of the series but instead will just be an expansion of the story from the previous films.

Film itself is in the early script stage with the co-writer of X-Men: The Last Stand and Avengers Assemble, Zak Penn, in talks to work on the project.

Additionally, Michael B. Jordan (Fantastic Four, Creed, Black Panther) is being lined up to star in the reboot, though there is apparently a long way to go before anything is finalized. The Wachowskis, the siblings who wrote and directed the original and its sequels The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, are not currently involved in the nascent project, though Warner Bros. reportedly want the directorial pair on board to some extent, even if it's just to give their blessings for the reboot to go ahead.

The original trilogy's producer, Joel Silver, is reportedly keen to be involved, but The Hollywood Reporter says Warner Bros. is wary of getting the Die Hard and Lethal Weapon producer on board because of his rumored strained relationship with the Wachowskis.

Crazy how the Wachowski's were dudes back then, disappeared and emerged individually as incredibly ugly women.

Zak Penn... No Wachowskis...

I dunno, man...

Wouldn't be so sure. They need Vaughn, not the other way around. If they want the guy, they'll let him make his Superman movie. Similar to the whole Reeves situation. I don't think he signs on unless they said to go ahead and make his Batman movie.

Just read that they are making a live action "Daphne and Velma" movie. It will be a prequel to their adventures with The Scooby Gang.

Sixx 11-28-2017 08:02 PM

Is it gonna be porn? It's gonna be porn. Porn.

Lock Jaw 11-28-2017 08:06 PM

Well I assumed so.

Destor 11-28-2017 08:42 PM

Cant see what else it would be

Kalyx triaD 11-28-2017 10:36 PM

Scooby Doo without the pothead and his imaginary dog.

That's a bad bet.

Kalyx triaD 12-07-2017 09:36 AM

Mark Millar doesn't like CG villains in comic movies. Gave no solution to how one would depict Thanos or Doomsday on film, but boy is he cultured and oldschool, eh.

Great Scott!

Back to the Future marathon.

Fignuts 12-24-2017 01:59 AM

Another G.I.Joe movie coming in 2020.

Third times the charm?

Probably not.

Kalyx triaD 12-24-2017 07:22 PM

Assuming it's a reboot, they should reboot Transformers after Bumblebee and do a shared universe between the two and add MASK. No Bay.

Fignuts 12-24-2017 07:40 PM

They're also doing a Micronauts movie.

A.J.K 12-26-2017 05:57 PM

Rewatching The Terminator movies.
