That lovely re-release of Super Mario All-Stars, presumed only for the Japanese market, will also be released in Europe, Nintendo has revealed.

The company's Swedish website has posted a listing (Update: now backed up by a press release stating it's a Europe-wide release) for the collection, with a release date set for December 3. Included will be a soundtrack CD and a history booklet.

That box art being in English should not only put a smile on the face of British and Irish fans; it also increases the odds of the collection making its way to North America and Australasia as well.

Super Mario All-Stars was first released on the Super Nintendo, and includes updated (well, by SNES standards) versions of NES/Famicom classics Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels

Source.

Might go ahead and buy this if I can afford it. If I can't, it's no big deal as I bought Mario 1, 2 (Japanese 2 and our 2) & 3 on the VC. As well as SMW.

Boss of Epic Games believes the studio can't make any games on the upcoming Nintendo 3DS since he believes the Unreal Engine won't work on it. His claim is the 3DS is below the minimum specs for the Engine even though Epic in the past has modified the engine to work on consoles and the iPhone.

This isn't the 1st time he refused to commit any development to a Nintendo system since he said Epic wouldn't make any games for the Wii since he didn't feel it was worth the time. Before the Xbox 360, the studio refused working on handheld and console games since they don't believe in the idea of a water-downed engine.

Other companies like Capcom, Rockstar, Treyarch, and a few others have been able to modify game engines to work on almost every handheld/console/phone possible when before it was thought of as "impossible" or a waste of time.

This is likely more their willingness to work, which may fall under "waste of time" or not depending on how you feel about it. I'm not sure I admire them for it, but they're capable of sticking to their guns.

Emperor Smeat 10-07-2010 09:54 PM

Everyone is assuming Epic doesn't want to bother or knows it would be competing against Nintendo games. It is a bit odd though of the boss saying the specs and engine can't be done but at the same time they are working on the iPhone which needs a customized "watered-down" version of the engine.

To be fair, the iPhone does have a stronger processor than the 3DS but it shares the power and CPU with other applications whereas the 3DS isn't sharing processor power with other non-gaming applications.

CLUE! WOOOO Clue

Drakul 10-08-2010 06:30 AM

Cluedo (it's "proper" name) is awesome. I don't like the way it's been change to be more "modern" though. The actual board game has changed the setting and characters.

Instead of being a party at an old Mansion, it's some kind of Hollywood mansion. Instead of Colonel Mustard, Rev. Green, Prof. Plum, They are actors and dircetors and super models now.

I probably wonmt by any of the Hasbro videogames though. If I want to play a board game, I prefer to play the actual board game.

The fact that the new Disney owned Marvel is whoring the license out to anyone that will pay is actually working. Since there's so many Mavel games in competition with each other, I think the average quality is going up.

Sure, some are remakes, but it could work for everyone.

Looks like the Sonic Cycle might strike again after all with Sonic Colors (Wii and DS only).

Sonic Team admits they changed parts of how Sonic's traditonal play style to now more of a mix of Mario and Sonic style to please Nintendo gamers and get new people to support Sonic.

Quote:

Sonic Team's Takashi Iizuka tells IGN: "From a general game design perspective, in recent years we've been able to introduce Sonic to new fans, a lot of the Nintendo/Mario fans, and because of that, we've made changes to the design, and we've designed things in Sonic Colours that we think will really appeal to people who are unfamiliar with the Sonic brand and the Sonic gameplay."

"So from that perspective we hope that fans of Mario will really be able to enjoy playing as Sonic in Sonic Colours."
It's not completely changed to a Mario style but at the same time there is some differences from the old Sonic style.

This marks the 1st potential bad news for the game and it didn't have to come from videos or screens since those made the game appear to be a return to classic Sonic.

EA hasn't officially revealed the pricing but based on the amount of extras in the edition, this should be around the $80-$99 range for pricing.

Along with a large and lovely box, the Dead Space 2 Collector's Edition that briefly appeared on Amazon yesterday also features some sort of exclusive downloadable content, a copy of the Dead Space 2 soundtrack, and what appears to be some sort of animation cell.

The real meat of the CE, however, is that replica of the game's Plasma Cutter. It's a must have for anyone owning one of those attractive helmets we gave away when the original game came out.

Huge potential legal case could impact the right and legality to sell used games.

Quote:

The Dallas Morning News reports that the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decided that a software publisher can stop buyers from reselling software to others. This differs from previous rulings in which software programs could be resold under "first sale" doctrine due to the rationale that licensing agreements that prohibit resell take precedence.

According to the University of California at Irvine's R. Anthony Reese, "The first sale doctrine has been a major bulwark in providing public access by facilitating the existence of used book and record stores, video rental stores, and, perhaps most significantly, public libraries."

Pundits believe that if this recent decision is upheld by by other courts, it could impact second-half retailers like Half Price Books, eBay and, yes, GameStop.
Two things to take from the ruling is this ruling came from California and it won't take affect any time soon since its expected to be appealed to Supreme Court eventually.

Also this only covers software publishers and not all industries that have used sales.

The developer behind Game Room for the Xbox 360, Krome Studios, rumored to have shut down for good after trimming staff and workers at other Australian studios they owned during the year.

Reasons for the closure include horrible game sales after the initial debut and ad push by Microsoft with additional game packs doing less than 500 sales each. Microsoft also basically stopped supporting the thing and a catalog of arcade games mostly from the Atari Era or already available in game complications. Pricing and lack of other developers supporting the game application also considered a big reason.

No word from Microsoft if they will hand the game application to another studio to continue or if Microsoft will take over besides just creating game packs for sale.

G 10-15-2010 08:25 PM

The disc-free Netflix application for PlayStation 3 will be available in the States next Monday, October 18. Sony has said the PS3 system will be the "first consumer electronics device" to support 5.1-channel surround sound for Netflix's streaming library of movies and films. Some media will also be viewable in 1080p and "an increasing number" will feature subtitles or alternative audio tracks. The app also features a fancy search option that allows users to update their regular queue.

Not surprised. Game Room was a big disappointment.

Nintendo continues celebrating Super Mario Bros 25th anniversary with a video of the more famous glitches and tricks with a few probably new to most people.

Only famous glitched they missed was the Negative World level.

Why is that copyrighted 2006? (Seen as the first 1-up trick is shown.)

Video is a collection of glitches so I assume Nintendo might have shown a few clips in the past and just pasted them up together for this video.

2006 was the 20th anniversary of the NES and Nintendo did have a celebration for it (1985 for New York, early 1986 for rest of US and Canada).

Anyone with knowledge of the Suikoden series, I might start playing Suikoden Tactics but I have never played any of the other games in the series. Is this a bad idea? Like will I not understand the story/what is going on

Funky Fly 10-18-2010 02:13 AM

Always thought the games were of a similar system, but not related, like FF.
