I've probably listened to this a dozen times over the years

Seanny One Ball 06-06-2020 09:33 PM

Gorilla Monsoon bad at calling moves.

Just says anything.

Bad News Gertner 06-06-2020 09:38 PM

He was always like that

Seanny One Ball 06-06-2020 09:44 PM

Yeah I know, it's just better alongside another insane old man saying the wrong things. It's like Art rubbed off on him or something. Not sexually.

He just keeps asking how much they weigh and if you'd want to play football against them.

Seanny One Ball 06-06-2020 09:46 PM

I am glad I haven't seen this before, there's a good chance I'd have "How much does this guy weigh?" as my ringtone.

Bad News Gertner 06-06-2020 10:50 PM

Just finished listening to the Austin walks out episode of Grilling Jr.

I love that Conrad and JR don't even mention Austin beating the shit out of Debra

Man, the way Debra tells the story, Steve was a bad, bad man in those days. Hard to reconcile because I love Austin.

And he somehow just made it all go away.

Multiple times

Seanny One Ball 06-06-2020 11:03 PM

I never forgave him for it.
Debra McMichael literally caused me to hit puberty when I was watching her intro.

Bad News Gertner 06-06-2020 11:07 PM

Like a year and a half later he beat the piss out of another woman

The way I've heard her tell the story is it was ongoing, and he pretty much treated her like she was his prisoner. Similar to Savage and Liz, except more fucked up and violent.

In fact, the more you think about it, Austin - at that time - had similar energy to the Macho Man. Very intense, chaotic, and tightly wound. It all kind of adds up.

And yet he's still more enjoyable to listen to than most commentators today. Very telling.

Fignuts 06-07-2020 01:27 AM

I'm not gonna throw stones at anyone who can't bring themselves to acknowledge Austin's actions. After attending Wrestlemania X-8, Hulk Hogan would literally have to murder a child in front of me to get me to turn on him.

I was looking forward to watching Takeover this morning. Who’s idea was is to move it to Sunday!?

I like seeing people come and go week to week.

I just don't know how many Hardbody Harrison matches I can handle.

This guy on YouTube has been posting full episodes of Worldwide from 1999. Currently watching Erik Watts vs Adrian Byrd lol

Been like that since the start of the year and probably Triple H's idea if I had to guess. Basis of the idea revolves around making the NXT brand feel equal to RAW and Smackdown in terms of PPV events being on a Sunday.

XL 06-07-2020 02:59 PM

Fuck that. Saturday shows for NXT made them feel different/special.

Emperor Smeat 06-07-2020 03:08 PM

Yeah. Ever since WWE started making a bunch of changes to NXT in response to AEW, the brand has lost a lot of that special luster it used to have.

Saturdays are now mostly reserved for big WWE Network specials that are not TakeOver shows. Probably would have had another big special on the Network yesterday if it wasn't for the coronavirus.

Sid just answered my question on a facebook live podcast today.

We are totally best friends now.

Evil Vito 06-07-2020 10:22 PM

The Nexus was formed one decade ago today.

One of the best segments ever.

Evil Vito 06-07-2020 11:15 PM

I remember the outrage here, myself included, when Bryan got released abruptly.

In hindsight probably a blessing in disguise to not have him saddled into that angle as it gave him a little bit of extra buzz when he returned. But had he stuck around I think his endgame would've been similar. He would've been the ring general for the Nexus for a few months and probably would've been the one to get over as a result, and therefore the first one to turn face and leave the group anyway.

I think the RYBACK would have had a better shelf life if he kept using the (Murder by) Lariat as his finisher instead of Shell-Shocked.

It would have had to been a clothesline from hell and not the stupid looking meathook

Yet hogan says the word "nigger" and somehow becomes Hitler in the eyes of the public, Austin smacking the shit out of women seemed to be more or less forgotten about pretty quick.

XL 06-08-2020 01:29 PM

Pretty sure if someone made a huge deal out of the Austin stuff *now* there would be a different reaction.

Seanny One Ball 06-08-2020 02:15 PM

Nope, much like Chris Brown he'd be fine because the media would hide the worst of it.
People still don't realise how badly some women get beaten when it makes the press.
It's never just a slap.

Savio 06-08-2020 02:28 PM

It is with Sean Connery

Mr. Nerfect 06-08-2020 03:09 PM

People respond to different things in different ways in different circumstances. Austin largely gets a pass -- for whatever reason. Doesn't make it right. Others don't. We have an idiosyncratic culture.

Reminds me of other female "crazy" gimmicks...... except she's allowed to talk a bit more.

Nikki Cross & Victoria come to mind.

Savio 06-08-2020 05:29 PM

I haven't watched in awhile so I don't know the full story and what lead up to that point but that just seems like a whole lot of retreading that has been done numerous times before.

Divas who were at one point in time considered crazy:
Luna
Victoria
Mickie James
Nikki Cross
Trish (During her feud with Mickie)
AJ Lee
Alicia Fox
Lita
Ruby Riott
Daffney

I'm probably forgetting some.

Emperor Smeat 06-08-2020 05:53 PM

Lana seems to be heading in that potential direction based on her recent hatred and interactions with MVP for taking her Bobby away.

This was one of the stupidest fucking turning points ever, by the way. Just drop everything that has ever been anything for the characters "Rusev and Lana" and go the thirsty bitch route.

Apologies if I sound like I bash it too much, just to come to a forum and talk about it. I WANT it to be good, I WANT to have a reason to actually watch it. I just haven't found that in a very long time and doesn't seem like I will anytime soon.

The wedding segment was the worst out of that whole infidelity and marriage storyline. Not only did the segment just drag on, it led to one of the dumbest or most useless swerves ever in WWE with Liv Morgan.

Completely undid all the vignettes they were doing for Liv's return for a trash tv like moment and led to nothing in the end because of Rusev's contract dispute and nobody wanting to see an actual feud between Lana and Liv.

Was Ruby Riott ever crazy? If being "alt", or whatever they call it, is crazy, I guess so.....
