lmfao Nia Jax shot on Ronda Rousey for being too dangerous in the ring, said she went to upper management and put her foot down and told them to stop letting Ronda injure people, in particular Alexa Bliss.

Really? It wasn’t even a good line. Are you fucking 15?

Its Vince McMahon as the devil. That's all I need it for.

I would say you're a petty bitch but that would be disrespectful to a man who gets laid.

Seems UFC's plans to hold events at a private island and tribal lands got trashed after ESPN and Disney told Dana White to stop his antics regarding the coronavirus.

Also after promising new tapings would happen for the NXT UK brand, seems Triple H also backed down since next month's tapings got cancelled. WWE already started dipping into the "Best Of" well for the brand starting with today's episode.

Meanwhile, Impact running new tapings this week in Tennessee was later revealed to be possible because of how laxed the stay at home orders are in the state at the moment.

Bad News Gertner 04-09-2020 08:02 PM

Lol Tennessee. Maybe Covid-19 can't infect the inbred.

ClockShot 04-09-2020 08:25 PM

Dana White probably kicking himself for making that deal with ESPN/Disney now.

All that hype and bluster. And it took one phone call to shut him up and shut him down.

If you find that shit funny then it’s evident you don’t. That was my point about wrestling fans. Thanks for illustrating it yet again.

Disney might be shutting it down quicker, but running shows with crowds now is just a shit look. The backlash would have come back around.

Moxley interview on Jerichos podcast

Quote:

He went on to say that what really caught his eye from the promo was some joke about a “pooper scooper.” Moxley said, “like something along the lines of ‘I’m not going out there without a pooper scooper.’ So I’m like ‘I’m not saying that. I’m like did Vince write this? They’re like we don’t know who wrote it.” He then went on to say that the trick to getting the script re-written without the pooper scooper line, was to get it to Vince before he saw the actual pooper scooper line because if he saw it then he would love it and say “Ah, that’s such good shit!”

According to this week's Observer Newsletter, the financial hit from the coronavirus outbreak in Japan has reached a point where the current feeling is WWE now has a much easier road to establish themselves as a major force in the market.

Companies that were not willing to sell to WWE or even consider the idea before supposedly are now more open to the idea.

The general belief is that with MMA no longer a big deal except for a few shows a year, that the only thing that can threaten New Japan, past a current act of God, wouldn’t be another company in the market, but WWE in the market with roots which always could have happened but now the odds are significantly better to make such a deal

Also early estimates for Mania 36's PPV buys numbers are very low going by Google trends as an indicator.

Not only did this year's Mania generate one of the lowest ever Google trends since that became a notable indicator, Day 2 of the show bombed hard in terms of online interest.

Even in terms of pre-show interest on regular cable, the numbers were way down compared to last year.

It was as if the public saw Saturday as the show, but even 1 million is the level of a B UFC PPV show and WrestleMania is usually better than Jon Jones level and this did half of Jones. Sunday was below the level of a Demetrious Johnson level PPV show.

The preshow on FS 1 for Saturday did a 0.1 rating and 106,000 viewers and 44,000 (0.03 rating; 29,000 men; 15,000 women) in 18-49.
The Sunday pre-show did a 0.1 rating and 112,000 viewers, with 56,000 (0.04 rating; 43,000 men; 13,000 women) in 18-49.
For a comparison, the preshow last year on USA did a 0.5 rating and 749,000 viewers and an 0.26 rating in 18-49.

This Indu Sher aesthetic is way off. I know they're just now finding footing, but they've got a ways to go.

WWE somehow turned into the Gamestop of wrestling in regards to their stubbornness with the coronavirus outbreak.

Also once again the locker room got pissed at something Vince did recently.

Some at the WWE tapings were given a letter in case they were questioned by law enforcement, stating that they are "essential media."

Damian Rey 2.0 04-11-2020 12:45 AM

Essential media Lmaooooooooo

Emperor Smeat 04-11-2020 01:03 AM

The reasoning behind his decision is even more stupider considering it hasn't really happened to other shows that had to suspend production or other sports in general. Same for not even being the reason why the XFL folded again.

Being speculated Vince thinks FOX and USA Network will use this occasion to void or restructure their tv deals if WWE can't produce a certain number of live tv shows due to the coronavirus.

Quote:

Contracts with both NBC Universal and Fox call for a certain number of shows per year that can be taped. For Raw, that number is three which, at the start of the year, was earmarked for one show over Christmas week and two shows during European tours. In theory, that would leave them with 49 live Raws. Fox has a similar deal.

While nobody will say so publicly, the fear was that by violating the contract, it would give the networks the legal ability to withhold money or find a way to change the deals. With no house shows, the company, like all sports companies, is surviving largely based on television revenue, but the networks paying that are also taking in far less revenue than they projected at this point in time due to the pandemic.

It's unclear whether the decision to return to live is an actual thing that the networks told McMahon to do in recent weeks based on declining ratings or if he is guarding against the possibility of them doing so.

Given that wrestling is the only sports property Fox has going right now and after building their main network around live sports in addition to FS1 needing programming, there doesn't appear to be a chance Fox would want to use more taped shows vs. live to terminate the relationship. Additionally, USA Network badly needs WWE more than they ever have in the past, so WWE has leverage for both of their main TV partners in that regard.

One would think network partners would understand the unique aspect of the situation the world finds itself in. But the fear is that if they have to make cuts due to the advertising business being down so badly, WWE can't afford to leave an opening for the networks to do so to them.

Imagining the whole roster walking out on Vince, but Vince still puts on a show that is just him on camera the entire time

That is so strange, re: live shows.

There's no way WWE wouldn't have legal rights to avoid this, as there is no precedent for this scenario. Also strange bc spoilers weren't leaking - in fact, less is known about what will happen onscreen now than ever before.

Yeah, would make no sense for FOX or USA Network to be that petty since freshly taped new content is just as valuable as live content during these troubling times. Also would freak out FOX's sports partners if they did that since it would show they are untrustworthy to work with.

In regards to spoilers, someone within WWE managed to upload this week's episode of NXT online hours before it aired which is pretty crazy considering the measures WWE now has in place for work.

Only problem is, product has been meh (outside a few matches) where not knowing isn't gonna help.

Listening to Jim Cornette's review of Wrestlemania 36:

What a fucking knob this guy is. He sounds pretty racist, too. Wouldn't even call Asuka and Kairi Sane by name. Says he loves John Morrison, but doesn't even know who Kofi Kingston or the Usos are (how is that possible?).

I know none of this is new information, but I was just so angry listening that I had to vent somewhere.

OK, back to it then. :y:

Anybody Thrilla 04-11-2020 10:15 AM

I know a lot of people love him, but his assessments are WAY the fuck off on this one.

Anybody Thrilla 04-11-2020 10:21 AM

Cornette has pushed the crotchety grandpa routine too far. He needs to dial it right back and just tell stories again.

Evil Vito 04-11-2020 01:23 PM

Going live every week instead of taping a month or two worth of shows is baffling and unconscionable.

If they're worried about taping too far ahead, they shouldn't be. There's a very real chance crowds aren't allowed back at anything like this until spring or summer 2021.

He's too far down the hole and too stubborn. People don't change as they get older.

I hope eventually he sees the light.
