Omega vs Hangman at All Out.

We've all felt it coming, likely to be the next PPV main event. It's a story that's brewed for over a year and a half since Hangman and Page were dysfunctional tag champs now taking head as Omega is World Champ and Hangman the top contender. Hangman would get his second PPV main event and second chance at the AEW Championship. Seems to be a lock that he would become the 4th AEW Champion right? Well what about these new signings?

Would it be something to consider for Omega to retain so that he can defend potentially against CM Punk or Daniel Bryan? It's not been AEW's custom to push new signings into big main events right away. I think that Brodie is the exception but there was an injury that caused that to happen if I remember correctly.

If I signed Bryan or Punk, or both I would want them to be in feature storylines for sure. Both Bryan and Punk can be great heels or great babyfaces. Very hard to see where they would both land upon arrival.

Damian Rey 2.0 07-24-2021 01:16 PM

It certainly feels like everything is adding up for a Hangman title win and I think that’s the right story. He’ll have a nice rogues gallery of heels he feud with until he eventually loses the title. And I think MJF should be the guy who takes the belt off of him.

If I had it my way, MJF beats Jericho decisively at All Out, gets on the mic to run him down and start touting himself as the best, and that’s when Punk’s music hits and out he comes to a massive pop. Plant those seeds early. Maybe have that be Punk’s first feud si that when MJF finally wins the belt, Punk chasing is right there ready to go.

I think pushing Bryan to eventually overthrow Miro is how I would build him up but I’d save that title change for the end of the year. I wanna see Miro keep destroying people.

weather vane 07-24-2021 01:50 PM

I’m excited.

Fignuts 07-24-2021 02:18 PM

Bryan and punk don't need to be in the title picture right off the bat, so I don't think you need to keep the belt on Omega.

That said, I would have one of them go undefeated for a couple months, and then have hangman give them their first loss in a title defense.

Fignuts 07-24-2021 02:19 PM

To be more specific, I would have Hangman beat punk, and then have him hold the title til about this time next year where he drops it to bryan.

Jordan 07-24-2021 02:41 PM

What's important to me is keeping Andrade, Malakai as well as guys like Hangman, Cody, and Mox hot and relevant. I really see Andrade and Malakai as main event level guys and I have a feeling that Tony does too. But nobody wants to see former WWE guys clash in AEW right off the bat.

I think that Kenny and Danielson would be a great program if Hangman defeats Omega at All Out.

I like Damien Rey's idea for Punk/MJF. They could also crossover with Malakai who after beating Cody could go for Hangman's AEW Championship.

I don't really know what's the next big story for Mox. Perhaps a program with Mox/Kingston vs Page and Scorpio, I think the matches would be great. But I think Mox should be favored heavily and I'm not sure that's the best usage for him. Kinda confused where Mox will go without either of his championships.

slik 07-24-2021 02:43 PM

I'd like to see PAC stay relevant too. A lot of these guys could have great matches with PAC.

Really like the Miro/Danielson and MJF/Punk ideas a lot.

Haven’t had a good cast gimmick in a while. Britt is perfect for it. Sometimes wrestling writes itself.

Yes Pac or sure. Honestly AEW is about to be booming with top notch talent. I was thrilled with Andrade and Malakai but Punk and Danielson are over the top.

Also look forward to something with Malakai and Punk,. I've always thought of Black as "the next CM Punk", in his own way.

slik 07-24-2021 04:10 PM

We need a good "cast magic" gimmick where a wrestler keeps switching the cast from one arm to another

Fignuts 07-24-2021 04:27 PM

Could see. Mox going after Miro next.

Yeah that would definitely be of interest.

If the rumors are true that Braun is resigning with WWE...anything to do with these "signings" ?

rez 07-24-2021 10:48 PM

Vega's showing at the PPV seems like it.

I was fantasy booking the Jericho Gage match in my head thinking maybe Moxley interferes in some way, costing Gage the match and kicking off a blood feud that culminates at All Out in an unsanctioned death match.

Jordan 07-24-2021 11:29 PM

Oh yes that would be great.

Something that almost certainly happened Thursday...

Patient: I'm here for my cleaning!

Receptionist: I'm sorry, but your appointment has been canceled.

Patient: Again?

Receptionist: Yes, sir. Unfortunately, your Dentist broke her wrist last night.

Patient: What? How did this keep happening? Can I get another dentist? Dr. Baker is just awful!

Vastardikai 07-25-2021 01:58 AM

Another thought, trying to look on the bright side:

With the way AEW books their Women's Division, Britt won't have to worry about missing any time in the ring. She'll be 100% healed by the time the get around to giving her another match.

xrodmuc316 07-25-2021 12:20 PM

Im wondering why Vince hasnt formed a working partnership with AEW. Vince is the only wrestling promoter that hasnt figured out how to get money from that mark Tony Khan

Maluco 07-25-2021 01:18 PM

What is going on with Chris Jericho? Is this what we always would have gotten with no Vince McMahon filter?

“Tha Painmaker” looks awful. I can’t believe what a legend of the business is doing to himself at the end. The makeup and look just adds to the whole “washed up” idea that the basketball tweets alluded to.

AEW and the creative freedom is making him look really bad.

Lock Jaw 07-25-2021 01:50 PM

The "Painmaker" look is very terrible, yeah....

Damian Rey 2.0 07-25-2021 01:58 PM

The idea I’d the painmaker fine. The clockwork orange knock off with the weird makeup is the bad part. Get rid of the hat and face paint, keep the jacket and it’s fine as a look.

xrodmuc316 07-25-2021 09:17 PM

My biggest issue with it is, what is the difference? I know he did it in NJPW as kind of a character reinvention after all his time in WWE, but what does it mean now? Its Finn Balor/Demon all over again. Adding some facepaint but then doing the exact same moveset just means its Chris Jericho in facepaint.

Fignuts 07-25-2021 09:32 PM

In New japan it was more of a way of mocking Okada.

His persona and style was more vicious in njpw. Think early AEW Jericho without as much comedy. It was actually pretty great.

He's playing to his audience. He knows how gullible wrestling fans are. With so less effort.

coming off the heels of that career highlight program with kevin owens, he actually seemed believable as a pissed off heel in new japan, it's crazy how fast things can change. that all seems like forever ago now

Evil Vito 07-27-2021 11:20 PM

In the intro for the latest episode his of Wrestling Anonymous podcast, Colt Cabana seemingly confirmed that he tested positive for COVID despite being double vaxxed since February, and that he most likely caught it working the gimmick table at an IPW show in Waterloo, Iowa.

weather vane 07-28-2021 12:22 AM

Deadly

Evil Vito 07-28-2021 06:48 AM

It’s worth keeping an eye on because AEW officials are said to be extremely concerned that big cities like Chicago and NY could end up shutting down big events again over delta by the time September gets here. And they’re already working out contingencies which would effectively mean permanent residence in Daily’s Place again.

Punk and Bryan appearing in front of no fans would be awful.

I really hope it doesn’t come to this. I’d rather we move to a policy of “show proof of vaccination to get into this event” and let the loons squawk about their rights than shut events down again.

Jordan 07-28-2021 09:45 AM

Yeah that report is definitely worrying to me. I hope things don't come to that. Plz give us Arthur Ashe.

Evil Vito 07-28-2021 09:54 AM

MSG was always requiring full vaccine proof for SmackDown. Colbert and other late night hosts are doing the same thing for their audiences, and I'm guessing Broadway will too once they open.

Best guess is by September Arthur Ashe is doing the same thing, if it doesn't become a NYC mandate. Way better to do that instead of just shutting it all down again.

Triple A 07-28-2021 12:03 PM

Yeah hopefully they don't shut down stuff again... Feel like I doubt they will in the US. Will be hard to "put the genie back in the bottle" or w/e

Especially since death/hospitalization rates are still relatively low even if cases are going up

Jordan 07-28-2021 01:14 PM

At Arthur Ashe they can open the roof if they want to make it outdoor which would be nice, should still be good weather by then if it's not raining. I know it won't make any official difference but I don't mind if they make their live events mask mandatory. I'm probably going to mask at Arthur, at least I've thought about it, I am vaxxed though. Also I'm going to MLS at Yankee Stadium Friday, not planning to wear my mask but I will if I feel I should.

BigCrippyZ 07-28-2021 02:50 PM

I don't see everything shutting down again in any major way like it was. I could certainly see vaccination proof requirements and/or mask requirements however. I also think we're going to see a 3rd dose EUA approval or recommendation sometime in the next 6 months.

I'm 3 months fully vaxxed now w/ my 2 Pfizer doses and I'm going to a client's outdoor stadium concert on Saturday night, but I'm still going to wear a mask likely most of the time depending on where I'm at and who/how many people I'm around, etc.

slik 07-28-2021 05:40 PM

I'm sure the hardcore wwe fans will react well to this (it's not even a super negative statement, it's very Renee and she's correct)

LOL of course she did.

Was nothing wrong with WWE while she worked there for 8 years, but now bad baaaaaaad WWE.

It's not upsetting, it is the cliche blueprint.
