Henry V 8/10
Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of Shakespeare's play; stirring stuff. |
You are such an old man
|
Red Notice - 8/10
Pretty fun. Ryan Reynolds doing Ryan Reynolds things. The Rock being The Rock. Gal Gadot being a hot braud. |

The new Sonic and Matrix movies look good.
KNUCKLES |
The Raid 8/10
Dang. Those are some tasty fight scenes. |
The French Dispatch - 3/4
Wes Anderson’s desire to make everybody in his films sound exactly the same has reached it’s zenith here. Nobody emotes at all until Jeffrey Wright shows up, and he can’t help it due to being as charismatic as they come. I enjoyed it but I am losing my desire to see much more of this sort of thing. I like fast paced comedies, but I need some variety in performance. Cheer up Wes Anderson, you should try letting your cast act for a change. |
SPOILER: show |

The great thing about that sort of comment is that the recipient doesn’t have to respond at all for everyone to see what a fucking idiot the commenter is.
Well done Sixx, you beat yourself in the first round by K.O. |
Spider-Man: No Way Home - 0 stars out of 4.
All these God damn villains, all this diving into the different universes, 9 fucking movies, and we still can't get a hot chick in a God damn Black Cat costume? Fuck this movie. Fuck this franchise. Fuck Marvel. :n: |
OK, but seriously...:o
Spider-Man: No Way Home - 3 and 1/4 stars out of 4. I'm going to preface this by saying that I'm giving it high marks but I didn't necessarily enjoy it personally. Much like I didn't like Into the Spider-Verse, this one didn't really grab me because I don't like these kinds of stories that deal with multiple realities and what not. There are too many scenes that harp on this subject and try to be cute about it like, "Hey, you guys get it? You get what we're doing? We're doing the thing! You sure you get that we're doing the thing? Because that's what we're doing! We're doing the thing!" When it's not doing that and is focusing on the problems, issues, and feelings of just Peter, the film was much more my bag. Everything that he wants to accomplish and everything that could possibly happen to him as a result of the previous movie is understandable and the logical next step. If the movie was more of that I probably would have liked it more. That said, don't let my negative nitpicking bother you. I can practically guarantee every Spidey fanboy and fangirl is going to have a blast. They'll revel in the jokes and winks to the audience and absolutely get sucked into the drama. Not necessarily my cup of tea but by all means, drink up and enjoy. |
It was a fucking good time. Avoid reading spoilers and just go along for the ride.

I like M-A-G’s idea there, he could have just created a new style of angry review.

Spider-man: No Way Home- 10/10
as stated many times im completely incapable of being objective in regards to Spider-man. they nailed it. |
Spider-Man: No Way Home - 7/10
Was entertained by it and now will probably never watch it again, like most Marvel outings these days. Didn't live up to the "potential", but feel like that would have been "near impossible".... but could have at least "come closer". Far From Home was a lot better movie. |
I disagree with you, Lock Jaw.
|
Hereditary-8/10
Good lord this movie was creepy. Not what I was expecting and as things unraveled and got weird I found myself more and more engrossed in what was unfolding. The ending was bleak but appreciated. Lost Girls-7/10 The actress who played Holly on the office plays a mom who’s estranged daughter she handed over to the state has gone missing after working as a hooker in a job gone wrong. It is a sad, bleak film with a strong central performance based in a real life sad story. Nothing like the Holidays-6/10 Typical Christmas family fodder a movie with a Latino spin on it. The story is cheesy and smarmy and predictable, but the performances, namely Alfred Molina, is what carries it and makes it worth the time as a holiday filler movie |
There we go. Now it's in the right spot. :y:
|
I don’t read well when high as shit
|
Watched 'Parasite' recently, and although I haven't actually seen any of the films it beat out for best picture I think it's probably deserved. I've loved all of Bong Joon-Ho's prior films for their uniqueness and absurdism and this was no exception. The best I've heard it described is as a more perfect version of Snowpiercer. Highly recommended.
|
“Parasite” is on my list of “Wait for the hype to die” films.
Some of them have been on there for years, “Holy Motors” has been on it for nearly three I think. There’s a mood I need to be in for big films. I don’t like to undermine the experience. |
Cosmos - 6.5/10
In reality my score is probably a little high but I like this kind of movie. Very low budget sci-fi flick about some guys parked in their station wagon in the middle of the British woods. They set up some telescopes and gear to monitor a satellite and some other things but get side tracked when they pick up the mystery signal. I've watched a lot of these kind of movies. Most all of them suck in the grand scheme of things. But this is one of my favorites I think. Just felt good the whole way through. Really liked the cast. Either way, I had a good time watching it and wouldnt be against seeing it again I think. |
Midsommar-7/10
I’m not sure what the fuck I just watched, not it’s certainly about mental health at the least, some weird Swedish commune and a bunch of weird shit with a weird ending. Not sure not I feel about it but I was definitely glued to the screen watching. |
Midsommar is some good shit.
|
The Witcher Season 2 is off to a great fucking start.

National Lampoons Vacation 8/10

It is a good thing you got out then, otherwise you might have found yourself sown into a bear suit.

Yeah definitely dodged a bullet there, even though I’ll miss out on the weird orgy with the red head

The Matrix Resurrections is possibly the worst sequel ever.
It’s worse than Jaws 4: The Revenge. Really weird feel to it... lots of backwards steps in trying to re-ignite some enthusiasm for the classic gimmicks of the original. No thanks. We don’t want some weird inner-universe retcon shite. We have Marvel for that. It’s trying to be meta even though it naturally is already, so you end up with a weird imitation of a weird imitation of a once great idea. None of it works at all. It’s just a mess. Kind of like the director’s vagina. 0.5/4 |
Was wondering about maybe seeing that or The King's Man..... was leaning towards King's Man.....
But also, I went to the movies twice this month already so probably not gonna go again.... |
Was worried Matrix would be just that, even from previews it almost looked like a big re-hash of what was already done.
Kingsman looks great, LJ. Big Rasputin lookin mofo. |
The Matrix is a groundbreaking science fiction film about the nature of our reality.
The Matrix Resurrections is a film that papers over the broken ground so it can pretend to break it once more. |
The Power of the Dog - 4.5/5
|
Matrix: Rez. I enjoyed it...fuck the nerds. I thought it brought the movies, video games, and comics together quite nice. I would like to get real reasons for people hating it and I hated the 2nd and especially the 3rd.
Death to 2021 - funny shit. another good mockumentary looking back at a bunch of people dying and stuff Mixtape (Netflix) I just finished this and felt it was like Jason Reitman and Judd Apatow had a baby. No review needed beyond that.. |
Encanto-7/10
Catchy songs and beautifully animated. Enjoyable even though the payoff to the story is meh. |

|
Venom: Let There Be Carnage - 2/10
This movie was atrocious. How the fuck does this franchise make so much money? |
"Don't Look Up"
Some of it's spot on but some of it misses. Morning show ppl and tech billionaire guy were good, Don Jr Jonah Hill guy was funny but i dnt think there are actually a lot of ppl like that on "the hill." They make it seem like putting profits over ppl is a strictly republican thing and dont rlly address the problem of neoliberalism being widespread and bi-partisan. the people giving it bad reviews though seem really really stupid about how it's not "subtle" enough which is stupid... |
Anonymous 3/10
I started looking at other things at the hour mark, and then turned it off completely at the 90-minute mark. There was still around 40 mins to go, but I couldn't be arsed watching it to the end. |
Heat- 10/10
“Cause she has a GREAT ASS!” I give the slight edge to Pacino over DeNiro. One of if not the best movie of the 90’s. It’s nearly 3 hours long and I would re-watch it right now. |
No Time to Die - 4/5
Felt like this was too John Wick-esque through the film here and there. |
Heat - 7/10
Zack Synder's Justice League - 6/10 |
Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings - 8/10
|
Ghostbusters: Afterlife-7/10
I liked it for the most part. I thought McKenna Grace was really great. I just wish the originals had a bigger/more integral part to the story. They just randomly show up at the last minute. But still she doesn’t feel outta place with the previous two. |
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - 6/10
Didn't feel like a "complete" and "thought out" movie... no real character arc or journey, just feels like setting up for the next one. |
That was my problem with the first LOTR film. Snorefest.
|
Free Guy - 6.5/10
|
Don't Look Up - 5.5/10
Took forever to "get going" and then it had some interesting ideas/concepts but just did not go about it the best way..... would love to see someone else take the basic ideas and make a good movie out of it. |
The Holiday - 5.5/10
|
Hold the Dark-6/10
A moody, brooding mystery with a good cast but seemingly slow plodding pace and not a whole helluva lot going in that holds interest in between the long drawn out scenes. But it’s well acted and interesting enough. Wind River is a better “mystery in the snow” movie. |

Encanto - 3 and 1/4 stars out of 4
I know there's more praise being heaped upon it but maybe the long stretch of Disney and Pixar movies without musical numbers in the story spoiled me. I'm not a fan of this type of music but I'll credit the songs for actually being helpful in moving the story along. These kinds of movies are more about a catharsis and it hits the right notes in getting its message across. I don't know if it's something I'd watch again but it works. |
It was Moana, with a few cultural elements changed.
|
Never saw Moana but really enjoyed Encanto....
|
Both great films. Not a Disney fan really, but Moana is easily my favorite Disney movie and I can sit through it without being annoyed.

Damn ninjas cutting onions at the end of the movie.

Wasteland-7/10
Spanish film on Netflix. More tense than scary. A child and his mother fend off a enigmatic twig being who feeds on fear. The child’s performance was particular strong. Enjoyed it greatly. Very contained and claustrophobic. Enjoyed it. |
Eternals 6.5/10
Entertaining enough, but also bland. The wokery was tedious, as was the appearance of Harry Styles. I think it would have been better to have had an Eternals series before a major film, if only for character development; there are so many of them and for the most part, few barely rise above being 2D. |
Had a good friend who found eternally to be a slog. Said way too many characters and shit going on. And he said the same; should’ve been and likely could’ve been a really good Disney+ series
|
I rewatched it for a second time (first time I have willingly watched a solo Marvel movie for a second time in a long time) and still really enjoyed it
|
Let Him Go-8/10
Kevin Costner and Diane Lane trying to save their grandson from god stepdad’s red neck family, mid 1960s backdrop with classic cars everywhere and set in Montana. What’s not yo love. |
Sardar Udham - 9/10
|
The Purge
not sure if horror. The class politics were good. Obv obviously "all crimes are legal" has all types of issues plotwise but w/e ever. Was hoping it would take place a little more outside the house. I'm interested in watching more of them |
Quote:
|
Cut out Jonah Hill for one..... also to get to the "point" quicker... feel like the entire first half of the movie dragged badly and then when they got to the interesting bits they had to rush through it....
|
And therein is the problem with science overall innit?
No one wants to listen because it's dreadfully boring. Until it's not. |
Avenged-7/10
Dumb, gloriously violent revenge movie about a deaf girl who gets brutally raped and murdered by a bunch of red necks before being possessed by the vengeful spirit of a murdered Native American chief, who just so happens to thirst for revenge against the family of rapists, who’s great granddad happened to murder in cold blood after betraying a peace treaty. It’s complete b movie schlock but it’s funny and brisk in pace. |
SCREAM (2022) - The best since the original. Well-written and smart. 8/10
|
Licorice Pizza was so God damb good, so ****ing funny, so good... my normie @$$ friends were like "I didn't understand a single thing that happened"
|
Only streams are video recordings so far. You watch at theatre?
|
I liked it but also kinda felt "disappointed" by it after it was over... love Paul Thomas Anderson so always look fwd to his movies and want them to be "amazing"...
Feel like I've felt the same about his last 4 movies I guess... Like "7/10 or 8/10" instead of 10/10 |
Remembering a bunch of parts that I liked now that I think of it though...

Tick, Tick...BOOM! - 8/10
Garfield is a force of nature. incredible performance. LMM as a director has more legs than i thought. i do find it very funny that TTB! is substantially better than Rent (which i hate.) Good film. well acted is an understatement. songs are strong. the ones sung live in camera are particularly strong. |
Licorice Pizza (2021) - 7/10 or 8/10 maybe - Really liked a lot of it but idk
The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021) - 8/10 - Joel Coen Macbeth movie... very cool, def worth watching About Endlessness (2019) - 8/10 - Love the director. Basically a bunch of strange skits. Good... The Battle of Algiers (1966) - 7/10 JFK (1991) - 9/10 - Sweet + 100% convincing that the US govt killed JFK JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass (2021) - 8/10 - Good... but feel like if you weren't "already into" this it might be confusing and boring Total Recall (1990) - 7/10 - Cool... Gattaca (1997) - 7/10 - Cool... Edge of Tomorrow (2014) - 8/10 - Surprisingly sweet as hell movie, cool concept Old (2021) - 4/10 - Good concept and would have maybe been good as like a half hour Twilight Zone episode... but mad drawn out and boring and horrible acting... The Many Saints of Newark (2021) - 6/10 - Not very good... The Insider (1999) - 6/10 Interstellar (2014) - 5/10 - Boring idk Alien (1979) - 7/10 Crank: High Voltage (2009) - 5/10 - Not as good as the first one |
Malignant-7/10
Went from seeming revenge film from psychotic sibling to bat shit crazy in the final act. I guessed it, kinda. But it’s not what I was expecting. Not really a horror, more of a gory action thriller. Really liked the score. |

I hate Rent. It's a terrible story with lazy, unlikable characters. I have never understood it's popularity. |
i agree with all that and on top of it the music is bad too. it has nothing going for it
|
I remember enjoying the first ten minutes or so of Rent and then quickly realising that the characters are all lazy layabout scum that need turfed our on the streets like the garbage they are.
Anybody that ever said Trainspotting glamourised heroin use and AIDS clearly never saw Rent. But that first song is pretty decent. |

Sinister - 2 and 1/2 stars out of 4.
This one has been on my radar for a long time; I just never got around to trying to watch it. Not sure if it was worth the long ass wait. It's probably the weakest of the Blumhouse lot, at least the weakest out of what I've seen. Ethan Hawke carries things well enough and even though this whole set up is ripe with cliche it's not particularly boring or offensive. Bughuul could have been scarier. Actually, he should have been scarier because the fake outs and jump scares are kind of annoying. |
Spider-Man No Way Home-10/10
Perfect for what it is and delivered exactly everything I think a Spider-Man fan could’ve ever wanted. And I LOVE that there were consequences. Permanent consequences. My one gripe with marvel movies outside of the last two Avengers movies is they didn’t have anything seemingly permanent. At least not that I could remember that was on the scale of this one. I wonder if they keep Spider-Man going under the joint studio efforts. It’s certainly worked out for everyone and college student Peter could be fun. I’m also glad Andrew Garfield got his redemption. I liked him as Spider-Man and him and Emma Stone had great chemistry smothered in a really bad sequel. I’ve read he’s a huge Spider-Man fan so I’m happy he got to have one more good around in the biggest way possible. Same for Toby. |
