Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer a MITB match, or everyone at least be booked in meaningful matches, but if we're gonna get our yearly clusterfuck where everyone who isn't booked gets on the card...

That would be cool and add even more to NXT. I heard HHH is high on him but Vince not so much.

I can imagine Vince giving him a dumb gimmick like Sloppy Joe or something like that.

WWE's head doctor currently suing Punk and Colt Cabana related to the Punk podcast episode.

Quote:

WWE's Dr. Chris Amann filed a lawsuit earlier today against former WWE champion CM Punk and Colt Cabana in Cook County Civil Court, according to Cook County Record.

According to the newspaper article, Amann is, "claiming his reputation has suffered as a result of the former WWE wrestlers’ comments, Amann is seeking more than $1 million in compensatory damages, as well as an undetermined amount of punitive damages."

In the filing, Amann claims that everything Punk claimed about his medical care under Amann while working for WWE were false and "repeatedly and falsely impugned the integrity" of Amann. In November 2014, Punk broke his post-WWE silence discussing his time in the company and the issues that led to his departure. He stated that a lump on his back was diagnosed as a fat deposit and despite several requests, it was not cut out. Punk later learned, after he left WWE, it was a MRSA staph infection that was cut out in what Punk described as the most painful experience in his life.

In response, in the suit, Amann stated he "was not requested by Brooks to treat and/or excise a lump, let alone a purple, baseball-sized lump." Amann claims the comments made by Punk and Cabana on the Art of Wrestling podcast, "are highly offensive in that they accuse [him] of a gross lack of integrity as a medical doctor, an inability to perform his professional duties as a medical doctor, and in placing the financial interest of his employer above life-threatening health conditions of his patients."

Cabana is included in the lawsuit, according to the article, for allegedly "helping Brooks [Punk] falsely depict" Amann. Given that the lawsuit was filed today, it's doubtful Cabana and Punk have been served yet. Punk is now training for his UFC debut.

Frank Drebin 02-19-2015 09:27 PM

Once you file a lawsuit, shit gets real. No podcasts and mud slinging, you're under oath. Kind of surprised at this because you figure WWE would just rather let this go away. I would like to hear what an attorney (Saul Goodman?) thinks about this because its a whole lot of he said / she said potential.

Innovator 02-19-2015 09:45 PM

Wonder if this goes against whatever settlement there was involving Punk and WWE

Frank Drebin 02-19-2015 09:53 PM

Probably not. This seems like the civil suit would be between the Dr. and Punk and not WWE/Punk which would have nothing to do with whatever agreement those two parties came to. Just because the Dr. is a WWE employee shouldn't preclude him from filing his own lawsuit.

Doubt it since that lawsuit was about royalties, contract breaching, and a non-disparagement clause that all went in favor of Punk.

Its very likely the WWE helped or had a small hand in building the doctor's lawsuit against Punk.

Mr. Nerfect 02-20-2015 07:24 PM

If you're putting on a show for those fans, I don't really get your point there.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-20-2015 07:32 PM

That it can't carry over to the mainstream WWE.

Mr. Nerfect 02-20-2015 07:34 PM

So? It's working within the context of NXT and working for NXT television.

Mr. Nerfect 02-20-2015 07:37 PM

To say it "can't" translate to "mainstream" WWE television is a bit premature too. I mean, if they brought her up to the main roster (I'm not even sure she's under proper developmental contract right now anyway), then it would likely fall flat on its blue pass -- but if she continues working NXT, gets more and more exposure, builds that rapport, and the NXT Galaxy swells behind her enough that she's a vibrant part of that brand -- Blue Pants could become a legitimate identity for her.

I'm not saying that it will, but I just don't think it is impossible. That being said, if it doesn't happen, which is more likely, you can hold that against my statement here and use "didn't" to support "can't," and all we have is a handful of hypotheticals.

Mr. Nerfect 02-20-2015 07:43 PM

If the WWE wanted to freshen up the women's division (and I'm not necessarily for this idea -- I'm just throwing it out there), then an NXT Women's Division vs. WWE Divas Division storyline is probably the most intriguing "invasion" storyline the WWE can do right now. It doesn't seem like there is a vision for the current Divas Division anyway. There are plenty that could be implemented, but Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Becky Lynch, Carmella and Alexa Bliss all have as equally, if not more definable characters than the main roster girls, so introducing them all at the same time isn't as risky as bringing up a bunch of male competitors. Blue Pants could hypothetically be part of that revolution. I can just imagine JBL mocking Blue Pants for being called "Blue Pants," only for Blue Pants to beat Alicia Fox in a match, leave the ring and take JBL's hat, and come out with it the next week and spray paint it blue or something.

Why shouldn't we do something that works and makes some money just because something else makes more money? It's not like Blue Pants would ever get a chance on the main roster anyway with McMahon's ridiculous standards. Let Blue Pants have her spotlight where it works and take what you can get from it.

A statement from WWE in regards to the Chris Amann/CM Punk lawsuit states this, and comes with a video:

"There is clear video evidence from the 2014 Royal Rumble, which allows all to decide whether there is any appearance of a baseball-sized growth on CM Punk’s back."

Considering the argument we're having it really isn't worth anything. The main roster and NXT are two completely different entities with completely different fanbases. If NXT did the shit WWE does they'd loose what little fanfare they actually have because the people watching that show aren't the same as the ones watching the main roster. Sometimes you have to find your niche and run with it. You don't see Sharknado trying to be on the level of Citizen Kane after all. Let Blue Pants be over with the crowd in NXT and use her to put over big heels that actually might make it on the main roster. Every cog has a role to play after all.

Jazzy Foot 02-20-2015 09:15 PM

Need more NXT Divas. The Divas really do need more air time to be fair other than Total Divas and more diverse matches.

The problem they have with the transition (and I've stated this before) is they don't go back to the start of the characters journey. Somebody like a Emma got over slowly with the NXT crowd until they were crazy for her. She was this weird girl that couldn't get into the ring and did a silly dance, and many didn't seem to get it at first. Over time she ingratiated herself to the NXT audience, they got behind her to the point I remember the crowd popping for her getting into the ring. Then the dance caught on. They saw her "struggle", and accepted her.

Then BAM! she's on the main roster as this "finished article", reduced to the quirky dance, and put with Santino.

Bo Dallas is a prime example. He was a smiling, old-school style babyface that the crowd rejected. This led to his development into the over-the-top character he became. On NXT the crowd knew he wasn't genuine. On arrival to WWE, the crowd didn't know what to make of him; is he genuine or is this all a little facetious.

I wouldn't say that WWE and NXT have wholesale "different audiences", but the NXT audience only represents a small minority of WWE fans. The guys (and gimmicks) in NXT could get over on the main brand, but they need to be handled in the right way.

XL makes a very valid point. Hunter should take notes.

Don't think it's Hunter calling the shots on the main roster. If Charlotte's debut match is any indication, he's more than likely not making many calls on the main roster.

I hear you Damian Rey. Here's an idea. Hunter should run Smackdown! and debut NXT talents on the show while keeping them exclusive to the brand until they are ready for RAW. I truly believe that if it weren't for the brand split, talents like Rey Mysterio, John Cena, Eddie Gurrero, Chris Benoit, JBL etc. would've never achieved the success that they did.

Bo Dallas, Emma, Adam Rose all just debuted on the main rosters just trying to get their gimmick over without really having a program. The Shield, Wyatt Family, and Paige all debuted with a solid program and proceeded to get over. I think with all the talent in NXT eventually they could do a NXT invasion type angle instead off calling up talents 1 at a time trying to get a gimmick over.

An NXT invasion angle sounds really good in theory. It would be really difficult to outdo what they did with the debut of "The Nexus".

Vince is doing to HHH what Vince Sr did to him. Making him prove himself first.

Hear a lot about nxt being v good. Is it worth someone who doesn't really care about wrestling anymore watching it? Is it "good" because its full of indy wrestling and stuff? Or is it actually good television? Would it be worth me getting into if once these guys get really good they just leave for the wwe roster anyway?

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-21-2015 10:35 AM

I would say no because it's still wrestling. It's more like wrestling back in the day though. Titles, contenders, simplistic storylines, longer matches.

Corporate CockSnogger 02-21-2015 10:39 AM

Is it mostly wrestling for "smark faggots?" That fat guy that's the champion looks a bit shit. I guess mankind looked a bit shit too though. Suppose it depends on how he's portrayed.

Watch the takeover specials and decide.

The crowd is a slightly more douchey TNA Asylum crowd. It's mostly for smark faggots sprinkled with Sports Entertainment.
