Picked up a Legends of Wrestling Roundtable 3 dvd set. Has the Heatseekers, Flair and Slaughter and Lawler and JYD episodes plus a shitload of matches that I have never seen before like Flair and Sting vs muta and Funk, Flair vs Luger Starcade88, Slaughter vs Backlund, Tully and Arn vs Luger and Windham. Havent watched the mtches on the Lawler JYD dvd yet but it's a pretty sweet box set. I highly suggest picking this up. Well worth 30 bucks.

The original idea was to be along the lines of the famous Dallas soap opera storyline of who shot JR (even though I was only six or seven at the time, I remember this vividly since I used to spend the night at Granny's house every Friday night and she'd always be watching Dallas religiously). Vince's entire family was going to return to TV in full force, including his real-life brother Rod McMahon and his family. Rod lives (or at least did at the time) in North Carolina and has pretty much zero contact with Vince. The company had actually contacted him and he'd agreed to show up for Vince's funeral, but of course that never took place, and no contact was ever made with Rod again.

I can't remember who it was, but at one point someone on one of our radio shows years back when we used to have the former WWE writers on during WrestleMania weekend mentioned that Vince, while gone in storyline, would be amassing a HOBO ARMY to try to reclaim his throne upon returning. That was never the case, although there were preliminary discussions about how when Vince was gone he'd grow out his hair and beard and fingernails and basically play a Howard Hughes-style recluse character. Those ideas never got very far. In the end there was going to be a full investigation into who killed Vince, and it would be revealed that Mr. Kennedy (the now-Mr. Anderson in Aces and Eights in TNA) would reveal himself to be the illegitimate son of Vince.

The long-term idea -- and keep in mind at this point there was really no such thing as long-term ideas because Vince still changed his mind on a dime -- was that there would be a number of swerves leading to a will being discovered. It would lead to a big reveal on Raw that Vince left the company to Kennedy, and the storyline would be either that Kennedy got the company or there would be a battle between Kennedy and Stephanie/Shane where whoever was the most ruthless would end up with it. This was going to play out all the way to WrestleMania 24, where Vince would make his triumphant return, side with Kennedy, and presumably it would go on from there.

Really want to see Vince as a Howard Hughes-style recluse character. Would have been great.

He took a Superkick full force at WrestleMania 12.

Mr. Kennedy getting that mega-push could have been fantastic.

Aah, what could have been.

Tazz Dan 05-16-2014 04:20 AM

I'm still dark Kennedy didn't get the run he deserved in WWE. I'd happily see him back one day.

When was the last time Michael Cole was on the JBL and Cole show? I miss the JBL & Cole w/Renee Young World Tour. Those ones were the best ones.

Think around the time the Cody vs JBL feud began or like a few months ago.

According to the dirtsheets and other news sources, WWE stocks have dropped by around $20 since Mania. Lost about $10 after the Network didn't reach 1 million subscribers and another $10 since yesterday when the new tv deal was announced.

WWE wanted around $600-$800 million per year and instead got around $200 million (barely doubled the old deal).

Also getting pressure by a group of investors that want the whole executive board tossed in favor of new people.

Jack Swagger says he wants more chest hair in pro wrestling. WWE should let him grow chest hair and bleach it.

As silly as this sounds, simply <s>growing chest hair</s> wearing fake chest hair* might be the ticket to the big time for Nega-Kurt. Bonus points if he also adopts a full on pornstache... or a mullet...

Actually, turning him into a thowback of a late 70's/early 80's looking wrestler-slash-action star might give him a breath of fresh air. Can even be explained by Zeb Coulter wanting to give "real Americans" a hero image they can truly look up to, like all the action stars of yesterday... like Chuck Norris, or Sylvester Stallone... not Schwartzenegger, though, because he came :finger running thing: *sneaking* across our borders to get famous!

Mirrored, obviously!

Also, with that layerd quote from Poit... that may still be a possibility. I mean, it might be a future direction for The Wyatt Family. Think about it: they already ARE a Hobo Army...

- Scott Hall was scheduled to appear at a Big Time Wrestling convention and event in Newark, California tonight with guys like Ric Flair, Christopher Daniels, The Godfather, Kazarian and others. Hall was supposed to be managing his son Cody but will not be appearing. Hall reportedly texted promoter Kirk White last night and said he was in a dark place, that he refused to get out of bed for Cody or Diamond Dallas Page, who tried to get him to fulfill his booking. Cody ended up making the trip and will be there tonight to wrestle. Hall went on his Twitter and says he won't be at the show due to medical reasons. He tweeted the following on Friday: "Medical problems will prevent me from appearing in Newark, CA tommorow . I apologize to all the fans. Thank you"
This doesn't sound good though hoping for the best..

Is it just be, or do the NXT Women's & Tag Team Titles, look better than their WWE counterparts?

I would have said all the NXT titles but I'm not really a fan of the NXT Championship. It has a very cheap look to me. I'm also not a fan of the giant "X" as the title's centreplate.

Totally agree the NXT women's title looks better than the divas title. Hate the divas title.

whiteyford 05-17-2014 04:09 PM

Everything but the actual NXT belt looks better, that and the Divas title look like toys.

Lock Jaw 05-17-2014 04:15 PM

Yeah, it didn't hit me how bad the Divas title looks until I spent a few minutes searching Google Images for a good picture of the NXT Women's Championship for my last post, and then searched for a picture of the Divas Championship after it.

That was when I really noticed how bad the latter title looks. And you're right whitey, it does look like a toy. It looks like it's made of plastic. It's a plastic toy.

I think they're ok. Personally, I would rather have the World Tag Team Championships, when it comes to design.

It's just when they're compared to the NXT Tag Titles, they look pretty bad.

Lock Jaw 05-17-2014 04:34 PM

The NXT Women's Championship is too small. I like the size of the Diva's Title and how "blinged out" it is in comparison. But that is about it.

Tom Guycott 05-17-2014 06:34 PM

I also like the WWE tag belts. They have a unique but still classy design and stand out. However my onlycomplaint is the copper-looking finish. Makes them kinda look like giant pennies. If the colorization was more golden, or even silver, it would look nicer.

As for the NXT World Championship, the "X" shouldn't be panned so harshly. It is their innagural design for not only that title, but for the NXT brand as well. As can be sseen from the Women's and Tag Team titles, it can only get better with time in later incarnations. Besides, it wasnt near as cheap looking as the WWECW World Championship. At first, my only issue was how uncomfortable it looks when being worn. It looks bad by comparison to the others that came after.

Cool King 05-17-2014 06:38 PM

I thought that title looked pretty cool.

The only thing I wasn't so keen on was the size of it. When Christian held it, it was almost as big as his head.

http://im19.gulfup.com/2012-04-19/1334808446136.jpg

Cool King 05-17-2014 06:40 PM

Actually, looking at pictures of Christian with the title now, it was as big as his head.
