If you have netflix you gotta watch "The Toys that Made Us" on Netflix. They have an episode on wrestling figures. It's amazing.

I watched the hell out of that ages ago. Funny to learn exactly how arbitrary the decision to scale down action figures to the widely used 3 1/2 was.

Secret ending. You had to beat Reptile three times all flawless with just high punch then input a code for him to opine about The Toys That Made Us decades before it even was a thing. Super deep easter egg.

So when Ultimo Dragon won the J-Crown and performed in WCW, did it include the WWF Light Heavyweight title as well?

According to Triple H, all the British indies that have shut down since WWE got involved in the region with NXT UK deserved their demise and claims WWE's involvement was not a bad thing.

Claims the only ones shutting down have been those who pay their talent terrible or don't care for their well-being despite the opposite being true for a few that have shut down.

Holy shit HHH just basically says "Yeah, we're putting some indies out of business, but just the ones that have shoddy equipment and endanger the wrestlers". Yep, no indie you work with has ever had equipment problems. Certainly not leading to a career ending injury. The companies that WWE has worked for as of late are the ones Triple H said are cultivating talent.

“I think all of that is important in that this feeder system of what the business is. People that have misunderstood, like when we went to the UK, what we were trying to accomplish there because of small thinking or short sightedness. Yes, some of these indies are going to go away. The ones that are going to go away, the ones that were paying you $25 when they promised you $75, the ones that have a ring that wouldn’t hold up and didn’t have medical care, the ones that didn’t care about you. [They] cared about booking you because they were hoping to sell some extra tickets because you had a little bit of a buzz. We wanted to work with the ones that were cultured, that were cultivating talent, the ones that were encouraging them to get better with promos or giving them guidance, right or wrong, on their matches and had equipment that was functioning and medical care in case you got injured while you were there that at least you weren’t lying there for 45 minutes while trying to figure out if they could get an ambulance in here or call an Uber. All those things were important to us and those were the people we partnered with and let people work for. From what I’ve been told, the system has changed a lot and there’s a lot more of them policing it and the talent being able to police it. There are reasons some [promotions] thrive and some don’t,” Triple H said.

According to the Observer Newsletter, WWE is rumored to be considering the idea having Lesnar be in the Rumble match if he doesn't defend his WWE title at next month's event.

There is no obvious opponent for Lesnar at this point for either the Rumble or Mania. Usually you can tell by this time. Because nobody is obvious for those spot, there were rumors this past week of Cain Velasquez (who is in the Rumble as of right now) and Tyson Fury as Lesnar’s WrestleMania opponents popped up. The only thing we’ve been able to confirm is Lesnar will be on Mania barring injury, and neither Fury nor Velasquez will be the opponent.

Interesting enough, Meltzer also mentioned Rowan could be a potential opponent for Lesnar at the Rumble since apparently Vince is very high on Rowan's current push.

According to Bruce Prichard, WWE's stale habit of almost always starting a show with a promo segment can be traced back to Vince Russo who loved doing it during the Attitude Era and that mentality stuck with the company since then.

Quote:

"[Russo] liked starting off the show with the in-ring segments and felt that that set the tone for the rest of the evening. Get everything out. Let people know what they're going to see for the next two hours," Bruce began. "A lot of times that change up would come from, for example, me or Pat Patterson or more of a traditionalist as it's sometimes you sit there with a stopwatch and go, 'Okay. We had forty-two minutes to talk and we only had so many minutes of wrestling.'"

Bruce would also say that at the time, this style fit the product and that the belief was as long as the dialogue was good, the more talking that was seen from top stars, the better the show would be received.

He continued, "I think that the audience, and it's been proven time and time again, that if it's good talk and it's entertaining, then they like it. I know I used to watch wrestling just for the interviews. I would watch the matches, obviously, but I was waiting for those interviews. I wanted to hear my guy talk. And that was the philosophy during this time. The more talk you had, a lot of times the feeling was the better the show was."

Next, you'll tell me they totally planned the whole "Yes Movement" the whole time... oh, wait, he did try that shit.

Imagine Vince saying this in the 80s. I get that you have to put over your own company and self interests, but to then try to whitewash the entirety of the consequenses just smacks of blatant bullshit. Yeah, they ran off shady promotions. They also ran off ones who were attempting to be legit but without the bankroll or clout to stave off WWE and thier venue exclusivity (that nobody in the world dare challenged ever until that one ROH/NJPW show in NY) and talent poaching nonsense.

They love always trying to tell people they're the heroes of their own story.

I haven't been following, but my early gut pick for the Rumble Winner is Samoa Joe. I think that's a match Heyman would really like. Joe getting a small babyface push for the first half of a year doesn't offend anyone either.

According to Fightful, Impact Wrestling was investigated by Anthem earlier this year regarding allegations of sexual harassment being committed by a high-level Impact official.

At least once instance allegedly involved threats of a contract extension clause being triggered in order to pressure the accuser into signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement who was later released from the company.

Anthem claims their investigations into the issues found nothing against the official who was being accused.
