Superior Iron Man

Stark's required 'dark side' saga sees him changing his armor to something Apple would approve.

Sixx 07-17-2014 03:47 PM

Blah, was hoping it would be Octavius in that suit.

Anyway, any particular reason stated for that many changes to Marvel characters this year?

Sixx 07-17-2014 03:49 PM

Oh and why is Falcon Cap now?

Rogers dies again?

Kalyx triaD 07-17-2014 03:52 PM

Just a shake up for the Avengers line of books (Avengers NOW) similar to what they did a little while ago across the whole slate. Things may return to normal by the time Avengers 2 drops in theaters.

Most of these changes are coming off the AXIS event. Don't know what happened there, don't think anybody died.

DaveBrawl 07-17-2014 04:27 PM

Apparently the Super Solider Serum is no longer working for Cap and he ages 65 years fairly quickly and thus is unable to be Cap. No idea why this happens though.

Yeah, heh, just read that somewhere. Think I'd actually rather him get killed and resurrected again (ok, I know it was suspended animation), cause this stuff just sounds retarded.

DaveBrawl 07-17-2014 04:53 PM

I used to have a run of comics from the 90s with this idea, I think Stark developed a suit or something to keep him going until they found a cure. He didn't really age though.

the fuck is AXIS?

I thought Original Sin was the big event this year.

God, I am way behind.

The Destroyer 07-18-2014 02:57 AM

AXIS is yet another big event, coming later in the year. Avengers and X-Men versus the Onslaught-ed up Red Skull, basically.

Fignuts 07-18-2014 04:09 AM

I honestly don't like this Marvel trend, of showing a bunch of new teams and status quos before the event that leads to them even finishes.

Sepholio 07-18-2014 05:12 AM

Is Iron Man being sexed up by GlaDOS in that picture up there!?

Sepholio 07-18-2014 05:13 AM

Oh and the new suit looks freaking awesome IMO.

Fignuts 07-18-2014 05:22 AM

Feel like Iron Man has been changing his armor too much the past few years.

He's had quite a few different armors over the years, but he's always kept them long enough that they become memorable and iconic in their own way. Lately it seems they've been changing him up before I even get a chance to really appreciate the armor.

Official MCU film dates:

Phase Two

Guardians of the Galaxy: August 1, 2014
Avengers: Age Of Ultron: May 1, 2015

Phase Three

Ant-Man: July 17, 2015
Captain America 3: May 6, 2016
Untitled Film: July 8, 2016 (Probably Doc Strange)
Untitled Film: May 5, 2017 (Avengers 3? Bear in mind this would be Justice League's year)

Likely Phase Four(!)

Guardians of the Galaxy 2: July 28, 2017
Untitled Film: November 3, 2017 (Almost certainly Thor 3)
Untitled Film: July 6, 2018
Untitled Film: November 2, 2018 (Interesting)
Untitled Film: May 3, 2019 (Civil War if there's a god)

Lock Jaw 07-19-2014 10:25 PM

Why is November 2, 2018 interesting?

Shadow 07-19-2014 10:54 PM

Wait they announced a phase 4?

Lock Jaw 07-19-2014 11:08 PM

They didn't "officially" announce a phase four, but they announced a bunch of movie release dates. Kalyx is just speculating the Phase Three/Phase Four dates.

Aside from Thor, this is outside their usual dates. And I don't think there will be a Thor 4. November is a very 'safe' bet for movies that may not bank in the summer. I'm thinking we'll an outlier like Black Panther or Captain/Ms Marvel here.

Yeah, they seem to have a thing for "huge events" lately.

Like "this is the biggest event evah" only to say the exact same thing about the one that comes next.

They sometimes can't even make up their fuckin' mind.

They switched Green for Hob, what?

Yup.

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/06/1...els-axis-event

Sharp-eyed fans will notice that the first AXIS teaser showed the Green Goblin, but in the latest version he is now colored as the Hobgoblin. IGN asked for clarification and Brevoort said that Green Goblin was originally going to be in the story, but the character will be too tied up in what’s happening in Spider-Man’s comic to participate. Remender said that Hobgoblin works just as well to fill the spot of a Spider-Man enemy

"Works just as well"...

Fignuts 07-21-2014 05:45 AM

If they have Hobgoblin, then what's Carnage doing there?

Huh?

As in "why 2 Spiderman villains"?

slik 07-21-2014 11:06 AM

What's the deal with Red Skull's costume? He looks like Magneto Skull.

DaveBrawl 07-21-2014 11:48 AM

In a way that's correct.

Not sure of all of the details, but he has the power of Onslaught which was Prof. X and Magneto's subconscious together if I remember correctly.

Should be in a wheelchair, too.

slik 07-21-2014 12:49 PM

So he is now like a universal level threat?

Wasn't Onslaught supposed to be like Thanos/Galactus levels of danger?

Sixx 07-21-2014 01:13 PM

Yeah, he was.

They're trying to one-up themselves again and again with those new super powerful villains.

Kalyx triaD 07-21-2014 02:32 PM

I always found Onslaught kinda goofy. Badass costume, sure, but he was overpowered for the sake of being overpowered. And he didn't really pan out anyway. Made for a cool boss in one of those Marvel Vs games, though.

I remember that game. It was the first time I've ever seen Onslaught and I was like "what the fuck happenned to Magneto?"

Fignuts 07-21-2014 03:24 PM

I don't think anyone thought Onslaught was cool outside of his look. He could have been cool if he really was Prof. X driven insane, like he seemed to be at first. But then it turned all gay with the explanation of what it was.

Fignuts 07-21-2014 03:25 PM

Marvel doesn't have the balls to see anything through to the end.

Kalyx triaD 07-21-2014 04:54 PM

Just read a cool theory that Stan Lee's cameos are actually him portraying Uatu the Watcher.

Yeah, that's a pretty old theory.

Kinda surprised that you of all people haven't heard it so far.

Kalyx triaD 07-21-2014 07:01 PM

First I heard of it.

Shadow 07-21-2014 08:38 PM

Behind the times Kalyx.

loopydate 07-21-2014 11:13 PM

Yeah heard that like a decade ago. But it's awesome and I hope it's true, so I'm always up for it being reintroduced.

Fignuts 07-22-2014 01:37 AM

Original Sin is pretty awesome so far. A little "all over the place" at the start, but so are most conspiracy stories, and it's starting to all come together and make sense now. Just hope it doesn't take a turn in the last 2 issues, cause this could be a great book once it's done.

Also like that you don't need to read a single tie-in (so far) to know what is going on. Infinity felt incomplete, and I felt like I was missing a ton of context while reading it.
