The Muppets

8/10

Was alright. They could have done less with Jason Segal and Amy Adams and have had more Muppets though. Rizzo didn't get a single line in the whole movie. Which made me sad.

Dr No - 3 out of 5

Not that bad for being the first Bond film but definitely like the newer ones a lot more.

Raven Reaper 12-02-2011 06:17 PM

Straw Dogs 2011 remake. 7/10. One scene almost made me cringe: Bear trap snapping upside down on a guy's neck.

O____________O. There are few scenes that left me a bit scarred... Man, indescribable to say this review... That is all.

9/10. And I meant that in a good way.
SPOILER: show
Newborn porn anyone?

You Only Live Twice

6.5/10

Happy Feet 2

I saw it in Spanish so I didn't necessarily understand it all, but I'm pretty sure I got what I needed to. A little disappointed how they didn't transition to Ice Ice Baby from Under Pressure at the end of the movie.

Based on your spoiler and see in the jpg you are talking about Serbian Film. I like fucked up movies like that. And don't get me wrong, it had its funny/shocking/memorable scenes that paid off big time, which is why people like us watch it. But overall I did not enjoy it as a movie. I just felt it took itself way to serious and tried to be artsy while doing all that fucked up shit. Where a movie like Human Centipede say that has fucked up shit presents itself in a way that says, "Hey, here is a bunch of fucked up shit, let's have fun with it enjoy the movie" But Serbian Film tried to hard to be the reverse of "Here is this artsy movie, oh yeah it's got some fucked up shit just for the sake of having fucked up shit to get people talking about the movie"

That's my thought on it at least. You can have a serious movie with fucked up shit or a comedy too, but this one just didn't feel right. But again, the fucked up shit did pay off, but overall outside of those thought it was a bit of a bore.

The Rock - 7/10

53 minutes into Whip It and I don't think I can finish it. It's that bad.

Human Centipede 2

5/10

Very shit, why the fuck was it banned.

Lock Jaw 12-08-2011 04:59 PM

On Her Majesty's Secret Service

6/10

Spent half of the movie going "Pffffft this George Lazenby guy has none of the swag, charm, or confidence of Sean Connery"

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2009) - 85

Really good. This was the Swedish version with subtitles, not the new Daniel Craig version coming out in a few weeks. I've had it in my Netflix queue for over a year now and figured I should watch it. Probably going to watch the others too before see the Craig version in theatres.

Gertner 12-12-2011 01:14 PM

Toy Story 3 10/10. I cried lol.

Get Him to The Greek. 7.5/10. Pretty funny. The ending was kinda dumb though.

Still good. I heard the 3rd one isn't as great though. Will watch that tomorrow maybe.

12 Angry Men - 10/10

Crazy, Stupid, Love - 7/10

127 Hours - 10/10

Truly fucking inspirational. I got some minor complaints but I'll save those for a rainy day.

Film direction like this and a score like this (during the end) is a reason why I want to work in film one day.

XL 12-14-2011 02:12 PM

12 Angry Men is probably my favourite film of all time.

CSL 12-14-2011 02:25 PM

Warrior - 8/10

Only posting about this because despite Tom Hardy and Nick Nolte being in it, I expected it to be your "typical fighting/MMA film" and whilst the cliches are knocking around, it's surprisingly very good and is more of a story about relationships and the characters themselves as opposed to the fighting. And the fights, especially Brendan/Joel Edgerton's, are very well done/engaging. And Nick Nolte is like Best Supporting Actor good in it. PLUS Kurt Angle as an indestructible Russian. There are many worse things to watch for 2 hours.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans - 4 out of 5

Raven Reaper 12-15-2011 05:33 AM

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Really enjoyed this much more than the 3rd one..

And I really find it awkwardly funny that the director of this is the same guy responsible for Pixar stuff like Ratatouille and The Incredibles. While Scorsese known for gang films has Hugo a children's flick. Talk about reversal of directors making movies for kids and adults.

Love the old school theme played at the start credits too.. same with the lighted fuse sequence.

9/10.

The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest (2009) - 70

I think what's more interesting and compelling than the movie is what's happening behind it. How the author of these books died, how the series is planning to continue etcetc.

As a standalone movie by itself, this one wasn't much. But if you told me it part of an entire series than I can understand the slower pacing.

Where do they go from here?

DrA 12-16-2011 08:05 PM

She kicked the hornets nest, now she has to live with the consequences.

Midnight in Paris - Probably the best Woody Allen movie since Deconstructing Harry. 8/10

The Artist - 7/10

The Kid With a Bike - 7/10

Hot Coffee - Documentary about how the McDonalds "hot coffee" case was distorted by big business to promote tort reform. I remember tort reform being a big issue during Obamacare and this was a fascinating rebuttal, showing that tort reform real interest isn't just stopping "frivolous lawsuits" but it severely compromises all citizens right to seek justice. Also, the election process for judges in the U.S. is fucked. They also showed pictures of the woman's burns...jesus christ.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows 8/10

Hard to follow at times but overall pretty fun.

Spoiler: They cut out the scene with the "Get that out of my face" "It's not in your face it's in my hand" "Get what's in your hand out of my face"

Disappointed me there

Sleeping Beauty (2011) 8/10 (was beautiful and cool and awesome but loses two points for gratuitous old man penis)

&

The Bothersome Man (2006) 7.5/10 (was nice to look at and reminiscent of Wristcutters: A Love Story - if it was made by a Norwegian. Loses points for uber slow pace at times and general empathetic feelings of total misery.)
