Tenryu has had one helluva hall of fame worthy career.

may he enjoy retirement knowing he gave everything he had to the business.

pretty damn awesome his career has lasted as long as it has imo.

He and Jumbo Tsuruta put on some of the greatest matches ever.

http://www.f4wonline.com/more/more-t...ces-retirement

Daily Sports in Japan today reported that Genichiro Tenryu, 65, will retire later this year.

Tenryu had major back surgery and had not been the same since returning. A former star in sumo, Tenryu was pushed from the start in All Japan, after working in several U.S. territories for Roy Shire and Jim Crockett in the 70s.

By the mid-80s, Tenryu was one of the top stars in the world. His singles feud with Jumbo Tsuruta in the late 80s was one of the top in-ring rivalries of the past 30 years. He headlined stadium shows with the likes of Nobuhiko Takada, Antonio Inoki, Riki Choshu and Hulk Hogan.

Road to Reignsamania Dirtsheets:

Quote:

We noted earlier this week that a WWE representative denied that former UFC star Chael Sonnen had been invited to WrestleMania 31 weekend to talk with the company but Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer reported that Sonnen was still attending and would likely be having informal talks with someone in the company. Meltzer added on the Wrestling Observer message board that Sonnen is supposed to meet with WWE's Executive Vice President of TV Production Kevin Dunn.
Quote:

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that apparently former WWE Champion Alberto El Patron (Alberto Del Rio) will be returning to MMA soon. It's believed that he will be fighting for either Bellator MMA or Glory Kickboxing. There are other promotions that have talked with Patron but those are the two groups that have been in negotiations as of late.

A special edition of WWE NXT will premiere this Tuesday night at 9pm on the WWE Network. Corey Graves will host the show and look at the events leading up to NXT Takeover: Rival.

The NXT Takeover: Rival Kickoff Pre-show is now confirmed for 7:30pm EST on the WWE Network on Wednesday night. It will feature Renee Young, Byron Saxton, Jason "Tensai" Albert and Graves.

WWE's website notes that the third member of the 2015 Hall of Fame will be announced on Monday's RAW. They wrote: "This as-yet-unnamed WWE Legend will join "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Celebrity Inductee Arnold Schwarzenegger in this year's elite group of icons, to be honored at the WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony the night before WrestleMania 31. Will this 2015 WWE Hall of Famer be from WWE's Attitude Era? Is it a groundbreaking WWE Diva? Or is it perhaps a fan-favorite competitor from ECW, WCW or another classic promotion?"

WWE Diva Tamina Snuka has been training with NXT Diva Lina Fanene, who is The Rock's cousin, and it's expected that she will be returning from injury soon. Tamina has been away since June 2014 after having knee surgery.

Some other sheet news include DDP was recently rushed to the ICU after being diagnosed with Subglottic Stenosis (breathing problems). Also according to the PWTorch, the #CancelWWENetwork had a bigger impact than the WWE originally believed and is the main reason why Reigns vs Bryan is happening at Fastlane.

As most of you know by now, WWE had planned for Daniel Bryan vs. Dolph Ziggler for WrestleMania. Those plans are out and Bryan will be inserted into the main event of WrestleMania. Vince McMahon was against doing a three way just two weeks ago but he changed his mind. The feeling at the time was that Vince felt that since they did the three-way last year that they didn’t want to go to the well again. Despite what some believe, Vince does listen to crowd reactions and the crowd reaction at the Royal Rumble made him rethink everything. Vince held a meeting and made the decision to make the match a three-way

Right now the plan for WrestleMania 31 is for Daniel Bryan vs. Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar
Main source is from a recent Observer radio show although Meltzer did tease the plans could end up changing again because WWE still hasn't made their mind up on Mania's card outside of Triple H vs Sting (and maybe Cena vs Rusev).

Outside of Vince, Reigns is also rumored to have been losing a lot of support in management with almost everyone believing he's still not ready or worthy for the current super push.

So the match at fast lane must end in shenanigans in order for the match to be triple threat.

Also while they didn't want to repeat last year, they're doing back to back triple threats. I'm not convinced Reigns doesn't walk out the champion anyway.

have legit never seen as many tributes to a wrestler dying as I have today with Drew, from the top to the bottom of the industry. Been around a lot of wrestlers, he was a legitimately intimidating bastard but seemed like a nice bloke. Was WWE's "UK agent" aka the guy that essentially picks the guys over here to get tryouts. Dirtsheets now with 100% more Rollins dong-related news:

Quote:

According f4wonline, There is a rumor circulating around WWE that Vince McMahon is looking to alter the Dean Ambrose gimmick slightly going into his feud with Bad News Barrett, giving it a more ''Cool, Vegas gambler'' type edge.
Take it with a grain of salt since so far the report hasn't been verified nor denied yet by those with actual F4W/Observer sub accounts.

It appears there will be no heat within WWE on Rollins for the incident. WWE officials believe that Rollins' social media accounts were "obviously" hacked. WWE officials felt that because the photo was re-posted several times after he initially deleted it, that he wasn't the culprit.

WWE issued a memo to the roster after last night's RAW and requested that they do not discuss or make reference to the situation publicly because doing so would be "insensitive" to Rollins.

Quote:

WWE is planning to induct former AWA World champion Larry Zbyszko into the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame, PWInsider.com has learned.
Quote:

Raw did a surprisingly low 3.66 million viewers last night, a drop of 14 percent with no real answer as to why.

Some would think the debut of Better Call Saul would have hurt, but that only went against the third hour, and the third hour held up better than it has in recent weeks.

It's also bad because it was clearly implied in he opening segment that Sting would be appearing on a show to give an answer to HHH's challenge, even though he wasn't there.

The three hours were:
8 p.m. 3.79 million viewers
9 p.m. 3.67 million viewers
10 p.m. 3.52 million viewers

There has only been one show in the last three years not during football season that did worse, and that went against huge sports competition that this show didn't face.

There's no spinning, this is a bad number, and unlike most, one that doesn't have an obvious explanation past the potential of it just being a fluke.
According to another forum that broke down the third hour, RAW had slighlty more overall viewers than Better Call Saul (around 100k more) did but got hammered in the valuable 18-49 age group (0.4 ratings lower).

Rest is from a recent Q&A session Triple H had about NXT:
Quote:

WWE executive Paul "Triple H" Levesque announced his goal to make NXT a separate touring brand by late 2015 or early 2016. Levesque said during a conference call with the pro wrestling media on Tuesday that he would ultimately like to see the brand running live events every weekend.
Quote:

Obviously, Itami is progressing through his language barrier faster than say, Khali, Yoshi Tatsu, and Sin Cara did during their time in WWE, but he's definitely got a ways to go until that "lightbulb goes off" as HHH says. What do you think about Itami's progression through NXT? And how do you see his future as a WWE superstar, especially if Vince is still around when he makes it to the main roster?
Original plan was for him to only spend a short amount of time in NXT then get promoted to the main roster.

Quote:

Dave Meltzer said he had a bunch of question and he knows he has to go down to two. He was asked about pushing women, mentioning Ronda Rousey. Meltzer said that they made her a big deal from the start and it was hard to recap as he kind of talked over H until H countered that she didn’t come out of nowhere. She made her name in Strikeforce and UFC took noticed and pushed her. She wasn’t working at a fast food place or something. H said that Charlotte has been at the top of the card in NXT and she is one of the main events. He will give the people want.
Quote:

Jason Powell asked about the noticeable difference with how the women are booked in NXT vs. WWE. Will it change on the main roster or is it just H’s vision vs. Vince?

H said it’s a mix of both. He said that they have a little different audience at NXT vs. the main roster. There are more casual fans of WWE and it takes a while to change perceptions, but he thinks they are doing that. It will take time to do it, but he thinks they will get there. He thinks that the world is looking at women differently, mentioning Ronda Rousey, and he thinks that will carry over to WWE. He is proud of women like Charlotte and Sasha.
Quote:

He was asked about recruiting athletes from other sports, are there new guys that he thinks they have something here. Meltzer mentioned Chad Gable. H laughed and said he is always evaluating the roster because it could get stripped by Vince at any time. He said he has an elite group, a next level group, then the talent in waiting group and finally the beginners. There is competition on every level. He said that they have somewhere between 65 and 70 people right now. He likes to be 65 to 100. 70 to 80 is very comfortable for him.

Rammsteinmad 02-10-2015 10:03 PM

Mr. Nerfect 02-11-2015 02:19 AM

Has Cena even mentioned the belt?

Rammsteinmad 02-11-2015 11:51 AM

Probably not. I haven't really followed the angle to be honest. Just the same generic angle with Cena, and I'm still not completely sold on Rusev.

Rammsteinmad 02-11-2015 11:52 AM

Completely irrelevant nugget of joy by Rammsteinmad there.

Droford 02-11-2015 12:43 PM

It'll end in either dq or countout since Cena almost never taps out and Rusev to the best of my knowledge has never won via pinfall. The match at Mania will then either be I quit or Submission only with no dq/countouts. They could create another 21-1 if Rusev gets Cena to quit or tap out. Or more likely Cena wins but they could still play up Rusev never being pinned.

Rammsteinmad 02-11-2015 12:47 PM

It doesn't matter really. Whether it's at Wrestlemania or Extreme Rules, the end result will be Cena winning.

Droford 02-11-2015 12:51 PM

Last time Cena tapped out was No Way Out 2004 to Kurt Angle

Before that he tapped out to Benoits crossface on Sd in december of 2003

Before that he tapped out to Angle at No Mercy in 2003

So in a 4 month span he tapped out 3 times and hasnt done so since

it seems that unless it's specifically part of a storyline or the wrestler's only finishing move that wrestlers "in general" don't really tap out all that often

idk, maybe because I watch like one wrestling event a month

Also helps that only a couple of guys have a submission as their finisher or go to move.

One someone manages to break Rusev's Accolade, its going to end up just like Del Rio's cross arm-breaker. Move that gets built up as a really big deal during regular shows but becomes mostly non-exietsnt or treated as a regular move during ppvs.

Next episode of 5 Things looks at the men who have beaten Goldberg.

Gonna throw out my prediction and share some useless wrestling trivia that if I remember correctly the only men with victories over Goldberg are Kevin Nash, Bret Hart, Booker T, Scott Steiner, Lex Luger (and Buff Bagwell) and Triple H. None of them were clean victories either.

And that's six men... but whatever.

Rewatching some old ECW tapes today while I work. MAN, the Eliminators/Gordy/Doc match was bad. If it wasn't for Saturn's elbow off the scaffold, this match would be completely unmemorable other than for how bad all four guys worked it.

Rammsteinmad 02-12-2015 01:24 PM

I don't usually watch Botchamania since they're not really that funny anymore and full of annoying editing, but I caught this one and the Barrett/Jericho story from 11.00 in is pretty hilarious.
