Why was Vince McMahon talking like this?

Seen that clip several times before but only just noticed now that Vince sort of looks like the game show host from The Running Man.

GD 09-26-2019 10:51 PM

From what I’ve read, this was during the downward spiral of his character which eventually led to the infamous limo explosion.

It's where he belongs.

Gallows & Anderson better be going with him.

According to the Observer, FOX is likely going to lose a ton of money on their tv deal with WWE in regards to ad money. Smackdown currently is generating about half of what a regular tv show on the network averages and in order for it to be a success, it pretty much needs to double its viewership in the 18-34 demo.

USA Network is in a similar situation with their new tv deal. They did manage to make money last year off of ads but that was with them having two shows and a less expensive tv deal.

So the value for selling advertising is about half of a regular TV show, if the ratings of the two shows are identical. That’s actually an improvement for wrestling but it still means for ad value Smackdown really has to double the audience in the desired demos of other programming to be an advertising success.

What was fox getting last year for Last Man Standing and Cool kids. Probably not a lot

Droford 09-27-2019 06:00 PM

It would be very weird seeing CM Punk do the FS1 show with Renee Young.

Probably for the best since he's been a bit of a dumbass in recent times on social media. Him and Graves are arguably the worst in WWE when it comes to not acting like a fool on it.

Only advantage Rollins had over Graves was at least he didn't whine over a mistake/botch of his being a candidate for a Botchamania episode.

slik 09-27-2019 08:29 PM

Graves has a sense of humor about himself on Twitter often.

Dragon Lee and Rush are gone from CMLL.

Emperor Smeat 09-28-2019 04:08 PM

Supposedly it all revolves around two issues.

Rush and other younger talent were pissed that the company started cutting their paychecks but refused to do the same to older talent. According to Lucha Blog, there were rumblings Rush wanted out of the company as a result.

Lucha Blog also stated that Lee got punished for working this year's Battle of LA tournament but CMLL didn't have any real plans to release him. They ended up doing so due to his association with Rush and likely to one-up them on the big announcement they were making this Monday.

Not that anybody asked or gives a shit... but I personally still don't see it. Maybe I will in time, but at the moment, nah.

With that said, I can't deny how fucking over he is and has been in NXT, and should be pushed accordingly. He is like the complete opposite of Corbin (who was exposed and turned on by the crowd after the first few squash matches), has the crowd eating out of his hand in a way similar to "raise/lower volume" thing Mark Henry used to do, and is pretty athletic (maybe a bit too much so - for both sake of big man psychology and the toll of moving all that around like that consistently over time can and will have on his body) and is another guy who seems like he should be hitting pretty much every box down the Vince checklist.

So long as he doesn't become "The Keith Experience" or saddled with something on par with the Mike Kanelis nonsense on the main roster or worst of all, just being left off of TV entirely for months at a time, there is no reason fan shouldn't be proven right about him being a star waiting to be made.

Apparently CMLL's partnership with ROH and NJPW could be over soon. The Rush/Lee situation seems to have been the tipping point.

ROH has been upset with CMLL for a while due to their restrictions and streaming issues for shows which has affected ROH by association. They also would be willing to end the CMLL relationship if RUSH's ROH title reign ends up being a big success and CMLL tries to cause problems with it.

NJPW also has some unfavorable views of CMLL and have no problem ending the relationship if it meant getting to keep Dragon Lee and not have to deal with any headaches from CMLL. NJPW is willing to keep the relationship active till at least next January for the Fantasticamania 2020 tour but also have no problems with dropping it either.

Then you have other issues going on like a potential mass exodus of young talent happening soon in CMLL and Rev Pro might also consider ending their ties with CMLL if CMLL causes any problems with their British J-Cup plans.

What makes this really interesting is that CMLL owns the rights to Los Ingobernables, do they not? So this would adversely affect Naito and company.

Believe so.

They also own the rights to the Rush and Dragon Lee names which is why Rush is now being advertised as El Toro Blanco for events in Mexico.
