And that Joker will be a hero.

Lock Jaw 07-01-2020 12:56 PM

Nah. Harley Quinn and Joker are too popular to really change.

Speaking of, just watched season finale of Harley Quinn.... such a great show. Really pulling for a Season 3.

Nark Order 07-01-2020 04:52 PM

Aquaman Rebirth not even giving me time to settle in. You're just going to start with a Black Manta battle? I just got here. It's like when your NFL team starts the season with a divisional rival. You're not even going to give me some time to get comfortable? We're just going to start with violent and bitter warfare? Don't even know what to do right now.

Nark Order 07-01-2020 05:03 PM

I didn't even get an appetizer. This is so much to handle right now.

It is pretty damned funny.

https://cosmicbook.news/ben-affleck-...ct-hbo-max?amp

This is the second article I've seen with rumors of Affleck returning. I figured if true, perhaps HBO max was going to commission Snyder to finish his Justice League sequel and/or pull a Netflix and making shows or miniseries based on DC properties that would allow them to have higher production values and darker themes, like Daredevil.

If true, then color me pumped. Keaton coming back to dawn the batsuit, Affleck having his Batman exist in his own universe, and Pattinson getting to reboot the movie universe Batman. It might be a fun time to be a DC fan.

Seanny One Ball 07-02-2020 03:56 AM

Ben Affleck needs to fuck off and just direct or retire or something.

Seanny One Ball 07-02-2020 03:57 AM

And it's "Batman" not "Batmen" so one at a time is enough.

Damian Rey 2.0 07-02-2020 11:51 AM

Meh. DC has endless stories it can tell. There's no reason not to explore as much as possible. Affleck was good in bvs. Prob the best part of the movie, even tho lunatic Batman isn't my cup of tea.

I still think Snyder's cut of JL will prob be bad. But if that spins Affleck into his own focused miniseries exclusively on HBO, count me in.

The last ten years of comics and general entertainment has been a refutation of this kind of reassurance.

Lock Jaw 07-02-2020 02:16 PM

Nah, not really. Temporary changes can be made for sure, but the classics always return

Kalyx triaD 07-02-2020 04:39 PM

With wildly retconned or diminished personalities, sure.

Lock Jaw 07-02-2020 05:42 PM

Nah..... they are always basically the same

slik 07-02-2020 05:55 PM

Damn, read another rumored Bendis idea on BleedingCool...

Please get him away from Superman ASAP

SPOILER: show

Bendis is building towards Superman becoming the leader of The Authority (Midnighter, Apollo, etc)

Kalyx triaD 07-02-2020 08:14 PM

But Superman will basically be the same, I hear.

Nark Order 07-04-2020 09:55 AM

Aquaman Rebirth is dope as fuck so far. So much has happened and I'm only 12 issues in.

Lock Jaw 07-06-2020 05:41 PM

"A new rumor suggests Warner Bros. is planning to reboot Justice League with a film entitled Justice League: Rebirth.

According to DCEU Mythic, the film will have no connection to either 2017's Justice League or the forthcoming Zack Snyder's Justice League. It's also unclear who will comprise the team's roster, what the story will center on and who Warner Bros. is eyeing to lead the project from a creative standpoint."

Nark Order 07-06-2020 06:58 PM

I am subscribed to a subscription service touted to be the "ultimate DC Comics experience," yet every awesome DC announcement coming out has nothing to do with "the ultimate DC Comics experience." I mean, I would sub even if it was only comics but them taking on all these projects that purposely avoid DC Universe doesn't make me feel like I'm apart of "the ultimate DC Comics experience."

Lock Jaw 07-06-2020 07:33 PM

Dunno. I can see them bundling HBO Max and DC Universe...... with DC Universe either being a free add-on, or very cheap.

But makes sense "from a certain point of view" to keep their movie/TV stuff on one platform. Like, all the Marvel shows they are making are gonna be on Disney+ not the Marvel Comics App.

Nark Order 07-07-2020 12:47 AM

I would be fine subbing if it was just comics but that's not what they advertised. Honestly, they bungled DC Universe so bad. For how awesome it is now, they royally fucked up launch and they never really fully recovered from it. First, the name absolute fucking sucks and is confusing because they have a video game of the same name, making it weird to search for. Second, they didn't get on gaming consoles for like a year and they still never made it to PS4, which cut out a large portion of their demo. Thirdly, they cycle content in and out instead of just adding video content. Lastly, every cool thing DC announces is on some other platform. If it is on DCU, its on another platform also (Stargirl).

That being said, I love the app. Im on it every day and have platinum status. The community is awesome, the original content they actually do have is good, and the archive of comics is fucking massive. It could have been alot more than it is though and its pretty clear they have put it on the backburner to pursue other projects. They wouldn't have had to do this if they had their shit more together at launch

Destor 07-07-2020 11:52 AM

The shows are being pulled from the app because it cant financially support them. Its not a choice. The app is a failure and right now AT&T is trimming fat. They cant keep losing money. Moving these shows to a platform with a larger install base is the only way to pay for them.

These are necessities. Things continue like they are and theyll have to sell licensing for these brands altogether.

Nark Order 07-07-2020 02:19 PM

Naw, I get why. Their marketing teams are just complete knuckle dragging morons.

Lock Jaw 07-07-2020 02:36 PM

Is the Marvel Comics app pushed/advertised at all in the USA? Feel like I barely hear anything about it..... so pretty similar to what DC Universe will be.... those hardcore fans who want it will get it, while those more casual who only care about tv/movies can get another service.

But I agree at DC Universe seeming to want to be a more "multimedia" thing was a big failure.....

Destor 07-07-2020 03:40 PM

I dont know where theyre marketing the marvel app. Word of mouth?

Fignuts 07-07-2020 06:16 PM

This is the first I've heard of it. What is even the point of it with Disney Plus available?

Lock Jaw 07-07-2020 06:33 PM

It is for digital comic books and prob like more than 80% of the people interested in the MCU movies/shows have no actual interest in reading the comics

Nark Order 07-07-2020 06:49 PM

Yeah but Marvel Unlimited is just a comics library. Warner put millions upon millions of dollars into original content for the DC Universe app. When they went live, their distribution was through their own platform, Roku, and maybe Apple. Thats it. When it first came out, I couldn't justify it because I couldn't watch any of the content anywhere but my phone and that blows. Not to mention they had maybe 1000 comics. They launched way before they were ready, in my opinion, and it hurt them. By the time they became fucking awesome, alot of people had already made up their minds.

Its a great product now but early execution was so awful. Ended up costing them alot of money.

Nark Order 07-07-2020 06:53 PM

Not to mention that they just made really fucking weird PR decisions also. They announced that Swamp Thing was canceled before the show debuted. I can't logically find a reason why they did that. Even if they weren't going to renew it, it seems insane to announce a show is canceled before it ever airs. That also put an aura of "oh damn. Maybe this app isn't going to last" into the air so it hurt subscribers right before an event that would have brought in subs. They frustrate the fuck out of me.

Lock Jaw 07-07-2020 06:55 PM

Yeah, no doubt they would have been better off just making it a comics library and focusing on that.

Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn are fantastic though, so glad we got that out of it.

Titans S1 was like a trainwreck that you can't look away from, haven't watched season 2.

Missed out on Swamp Thing, but with all the production nightmares and getting canceled before airing or whatever it was.... kind of killed the hype for it.

Stargirl alright so far. Things I don't like, things I like. Still need to see where it goes. With it going to the CW it will last like 17 years like all CW shows. Just worried about the budget for S.T.R.I.P.E.

Nark Order 07-07-2020 06:57 PM

Swamp Thing is fucking dope, by the way. You should make it a priority to watch it at some point.

Lock Jaw 07-07-2020 06:59 PM

Think I heard that CW also got the rights for that and will be playing the season sometime this year....

Yeah, it's pretty brutal and graphic though. See it before they CW edit it into a Dawson's Creek spin-off.

Lock Jaw 07-07-2020 07:11 PM

Unfortunately, as I said, I missed it when it was originally playing here, and they aren't really itching to replay it I guess.

Nark Order 07-07-2020 07:18 PM

I have it on the blue ray, sonnnnnnn.

Lock Jaw 07-07-2020 07:45 PM

Pfffft physical media.....

Nark Order 07-07-2020 10:15 PM

I was stream elitist until maybe a few months ago when I realized that all of my favorite media is in the hands of corporations that can edit it however they please. Now I'm going to be the Indiana Jones of DVDs.

Lock Jaw 07-07-2020 11:06 PM

Yeah... I do really want a cut of the original Star Wars trilogy that is the one I grew up with.

Which was apparently already not the original cut, so I guess I don't want that either (but I'd take it over what they got now).

Destor 07-07-2020 11:44 PM

Ive been building a physical film collection for half a decade or so. Trying to own all the classics. In the very near future we're going all digital so i think a physical library is going to grow in value

Javicia Leslie cast as the new Batwoman

Instead of being a recast Kate Kane, she will be a new character and new Batwoman:

Quote:

Ryan Wilder is about to become Batwoman. She's likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed. She's also nothing like Kate Kane, the woman who wore the Batsuit before her. With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. Today Ryan lives in her van with her plant. A girl who would steal milk for an alley cat and could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical all-American hero.
