Been trying to watch some movies this year. I can only do 1 good one a week I think but I have a big list.
Pans Labrynth 10/10 best movie is saw in 2020 Evolution - with Orlando Jones and dude where’s my car. It’s like not another teen movie smashed together with tremors 3 Vanilla Sky - PASS. I didn’t really know what it was about going in and I liked it a lot. Retrospectively sure, it’s kind of Jerry McGuirey and “Abre los Ojos” is probably better. I’ll watch that Jan 2022. Still gets a 9 |
Sound of Metal
Really good.. good use of sound and absence of sound.. Riz Ahmed really good |
I love Adam Sandler but "That's My Boy" is absolutely awful in so many competing ways that it's easily one of the worst films ever made.
|
Bucky Larson was good though.
Never got the hate for that one. |
Dora and the Lost City of Gold - 7.5/10
I was entertained. |
Knives Out
Great stuff. Good acting from Daniel Craig and the others. Must have taken a lot of work to make this. I heard the name talked about a bunch and now I know why. Loved all the surprises. I'm sure some people out there think it was predictable but I enjoyed the ride |
All of the cool people were bored by it
|
knives out was good. quality misdirection :y:
|
Knives Out was a good time.
|
Really enjoyed it... keep meaning to watch it again....

Click
2006 was a truly horrendous time for comedy. Actually it rules. But jesus crist. This movie was like an hour too long. Also the guy coulda just used "rewind" to undo all the bad stuff. Also I watched this on Hulu and they tried their absolute damndest to make sure I didn't watch the credits, which were playing that song "You Get What You Give" which that band is gonna play at the Biden inauguration. All this weird stuff keeps popping up in movies that seem strangely relevant, like in Knives Out they kept mentioning Danica McKellar and I'd been trying to think of who the actress who played Winnie Cooper in The Wonder Years was since I watched That's My Boy (another Adam Sandler movie) a few days ago when one of the actresses in it looked like Winnie Cooper, who is played by Danica McKellar. So anyway I wanted to hear da song Anyway why the f*ck don't they want you to watch the credits... it gave me like a 2 second warning before it switched to some episode of Scrubs that I paused like a week ago... why are they in such a hurry to get me to watch another thing. I had to hit the back button to go back to the credits and then it took me to Big Daddy within 10 seconds twice... was really hard to figure out how to just watch the credits. Netflix and others do this too, why do they hate credits, sometimes people just want to watch the credits |

Adam Sandler's wife plays a bitch in his movies.
I bet they have wild sex. |
I remember mostly liking Click
|
He always casts a really hot wife... kinda creepy but kinda funny
|
Hard Candy
Fucked up, uncomfortable |
That film changes a bit now that we know that's a little boy torturing him.
|
Side Effects - 9/10
|
Spies in Disguise-7/10
Loaded cast, funny gags and a simple story made it a fu little watch with my kid. Laughed quite a bit. |
Unpregnant
eh |
Mostly been watching Hong Kong Kung Fu movies lately. Lots of Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao, sometimes together.
I love Benny Urquidez Vs Jackie Chan in Wheels On Meals. Anybody who likes action, comedy and adventure should watch a lot more Chinese Jackie Chan films. His earlier ones tend to be dubbed with English accents but it adds to the charm in a way. Kung Fu movies of various eras are very distinctive in their own way. Early on it was all like a beautiful ballet but the fighting was softer. Then it jumps to violent but still not convincing because it's too OTT. By the time Jackie Chan had turned to comedy Kung Fu the fights are hard hitting, faster, better choreographed and yet funny too. Then in the 80's all bets were off and American Karate guys kept showing up looking fucking huge at 170lbs against tiny Chinese heroes. |
I keep meaning to re-watch Jackie Chan's Police Story films from the 80s, but have yet to get round to them. I don't think I've seen any of them in nearly 20 years.
|
I think only two of them are from the 80's, he's knocked out at least two reboots in the last few years too.
I have only seen the first four but the first two are probably his best films. A good mixture of martial arts, stunts and the comedy is turned way down with a proper storyline in place. His Kung Fu comedies are all solid fare but he's an invaluable addition to a well told story that just needs a bit of unabashed physical insanity in it. |
Bad Education
Didn't realize it was a true story until the end |
Reservoir Dogs
eh. Seemed a little "cliche" but i guess this movie prolly started the cliche. cool men in suits and sunglasses aren't cool to me. I dont really like tarantino because he seems like a sick fuck. I feel like people probably "gush" over the dialogue in this movie but I dont care. The only part I liked was when they were arguing over which colors they were going to be because that's exactly what preschoolers do when they each get something with a different color |
Tarantino pays homage to obscure, older and cheaper styles of film making using an all star cast and a huge budget so everything he does looks familiar but brand new.
|
Never Rarely Sometimes Always
Another abortion movie. This ones not fun or fast paced like the last one. Which made it a little better probly. This seems to be a new style of movie, slowly paced and pretty much only following one character with scenes that rarely have more than like 5 lines of dialogue. Theyre not bad, just new |
Just watched Hereditary, very un-chill, even felt like Midsommar at times
|
I've still not seen Midsommar.
It looks a bit silly for me. Triple A highly recommends a short film about incest by the same guy. Says it's freaking hilarious. I can't say I agree but go in with comedy in mind and see where you end up. |
Hereditary was unnerving. Midsommar was different but shared the quality of making the viewer "uncomfortable".
|
Same here.
|
Hereditary was a nightmare.
The scariest film I have seen as an adult. |
I think Toni Collette should have got an Oscar nom for Hereditary
|

It Follows
I do not like horror movies, I am done watching horror movies. Why did they bring all that sh*t to the pool. I guess there's some message here about STDs |
The Package
Pretty funny the whole way through. Some good laughs |
Sister Act & Sister Act 2: Back in Business
Saw these for the first time as a 30 year old male, was pleasantly surprised to see the general plot and premise get yadda yadda'd. Females my age seem to have a lot of nostalgia. I like that all the men in these movies are bumbling idiots 2/5 Blood Diamond - 1 bag of popcorn really really bad. Watched this in World Affairs in high school but never got to see the last third, I guess I thought it would be good but this is a really really bad movie. Leo and Jen.Con do not sizzle at all, at it's best it's just stealing from better movies like hotel rwanda or city of god. Shocked that anyone could think this didnt suck. gratuitous violence and obnoxious strokes of luck at every turn. When I visit Africa I'm going to be constantly afraid of a a convoy of black men in jeeps with shotguns and boomboxes |
Blood Diamond isn't great and it has a pretty stereotypical Afrikaans accent pinned to Leo.
It's not a film you need to see twice. Watch "Safe House" with Ryan Reynolds and Denny Washertosher if you want to hear a fun little S.A accent on a beloved white boy. |
Sandy Wexler
All the Adam Sandler classics showing up in this one. I feel like this movie is made for hollywood people. Netflix really "flexing" their power here. I guess they just had to get everyone together for a dinner which doubled as a movie shoot. Only Adam Sandler can pull off the "bumbling schmuck" character these days. Pretty funny. Good to see Rikishi. Always tell the truth yall |
You're doing good things for all with these reviews, Ossman.
Pleased to see it happening. |
Project X
lol. felt really cool being 70 hours into dragon quest 11 on the nintendo switch which i was playing while i watched this. this movie triggered "fomo" in me via not really going to parties in high school and also anxiety. lol @ dax flame being in this also. kind of a poor man's super bad, but i haven't seen super bad. |
Teaching Mrs. Tingle
Finally saw this after having the name stuck in my head for 21 years. Love a nice 90's high school movie. I should probably read some of the books the teacher talked about. Dr. Shivago or whatever. |
Cheers @ sob
|
Project X isn't much like Superbad beyond having a party in it.
Superbad is a great comedy that launched careers and pop culture references. |
Watched Ant Man, Ant Man & the Wasp, and Avengers: Civil War yesterday. not bad..
|
Ant Man should really be the leader of the Avengers
|
That'd be a hilarious disaster that I'm willing to sit through.
|
How would it even be a disaster bro?
Ant Man replaces Ironman, John Snow replaces Captain America, Alan Tudyk can be somebody too and round it out with Nathan Fillion and any attractive woman. There you have it, the new Avengers. Alan Tudyk's character would have the torso of a man and the lovely legs of a woman and possibly the vagina too, but you'd never really know with a PG13 movie. They could have him constantly putting big cucumbers in his purse though, just to give you an inkling. Nathan Fillion would have a camel's hump and big purple tits and the woman would probably be invisible or something. They'd all spend all of their time saving her because she was so lame. |
Their mortal enemy would be Gilbert Gottfried voicing a CGI Paul Bunyan
|
Gremlins-7/10
Half horror half comedy. Felt like it couldn't quite find it's tone but it was still a fun watch. Gremlins 2-8/10 Complete goofy satire making fun of itself. Could tell the budget was much higher as well given how high quality the gremlins looked this time around. Plenty of sight gags to behold. The Little Things-6/10 Denzel carries this pot boiler about a sheriff who returns to his old precinct and finds himself helping Rami Malek with a case that might be tied to his last one. I didn't care for Malik honestly. Just didn't buy him in the role. Jared Leto is good as the weirdo who may or may not have dunnit. |
Whiplash
Someone told me it was one of the best movies ever and I didn't like it. The main characters are decent foils I guess but I hated both of them |
It's not a big film but it has huge performances and I remember watching it three or four times when it came out.
I thought it was incredible. |
The JK Simmons character was well written but a little bit tired for me. The music was great but I don't like to think too technically about music. If something sounds chill that's fine for me, which was pretty much the antithesis of this movie. Also there was one very big moment which gave the movie's title its double meaning which I feel like should have completely changed the course of the movie, but it was just a plot point
|
Superbad
Pretty funny. Not as raunchy as I thought. Good old Michael Cera. Better than Project X |
I credit Superbad with "turning around my sense of humour" a bit.... before was v pretentious with my humour, thinking that all modern day comedy sucked and relied on expletives and curse-words.....
But then at college one time between classes was in the college cafe where there was a projector playing the movie... missed all the stuff w/dicks at the start or else I probably would have left... but instead saw from after that and was surprisingly entertained... |
The dick thing lasts about 60 seconds and we all had a phase.
|
Superbad was a good time. So many memorable characters...also the DVD extras were a riot.
|
Easy A
The concept of this movie is really really funny... really well written too, clever writing... haha. Parallels The Scarlett Letter like that one movie with Amanda Bynes did with Twelfth Night with Amanda Bynes. She's the Man maybe. Amanda Bynes is in this too. I should read The Scarlett Letter. Good soundtrack. Love a high school movie too |
It’s kinda funny that her love interest is the guy from “You.”
|
Easy A is a great film

The family dynamic in that film is excellent. Stanley Tucci is always brilliant when acting with strong females. He's also wonderful in Julie & Julia. Actually all of the interactions and rapport between characters seem especially strong in Easy A. It's just a quality piece of work.
|
The Mummy-- 8.634
|
Stanley Tucci is great in virtually anything he's in.
|
Sing - 65%
This movie sucks, but it has a great rewatchability factor because the songs are very good. Reese Witherspoon and Scarlett Johansson very good music performances. Kid loves it |
Sonic The Hedgehog-7/10
Fun movie with Jim Carrey at his manic best. Thank god for the redesign. |
Surprisingly fun movie. Besides Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz was a good choice.
|
So I'm watching "Spirited Away" for the first time and it seems a bit too intense for kids.
|
I love Spirited Away so much
|
Spirited Away - 10/10
It turned out to be extraordinary. Very emotional and stress inducing at times. |
Just started "Willy's Wonderland".
Nicholas Cage fighting Chuck E Cheese rip-offs. Looks like one of his better B movie efforts actually. More Mandy than Jiu Jitsu anyway |
www3.f2movies.to
4watch.net Paradox.black Three excellent free streaming sites. No registration or fees. |
Willy's Wonderland is trucking along very nicely building the film up when suddenly it just jumps right into Nicholas Cage fighting puppets.
I will treasure these next 60 minutes. |
RP gonna love this movie
|
Lots of Rocky-esque montages...
Just not about fighting. |
I feel confident in saying that this is a fucking great film dressed up as cult-bait.
It sounds like a B movie but it looks like a really well made independent... It's hilarious though, like really laugh out loud funny in parts. |
I'll have to write a review of this.
This is one of the most strangely irreverent films I have ever seen. A celebration of good wit in odd circumstances. Nicholas Cage doing purely physical acting for this role. He hasn't said a word. |
There have been at least six "Hahaha...wtf" moments for me. All from Cage.
He's just amazing in these situations with the right material. |
I've been watching this for about two hours, it's an 88 minute film but I keep rewinding it.
|
I watch some brilliant films every week. Great films with huge reputations, a lifetime will never be enough for me to see everything I really want to. I often just can't face it if I have the time because I know there's a better place in time to watch something.
Today I just clicked the first Nick Cage film I saw and here we are. This is a 4/4 film so far to be honest. |
I think I figured out why he's silent and weird.
Only time will tell though... |
Pretty sure this one ends up in my top movies list.
It is magnificent. |
I doubt 1,000 directors with unlimited funding could make that film better for me in any way, shape or form.
That is a work of brilliance. I bet film schools use it in future to show how focus and funding can actually turn out a great product in the right hands. It has gotten a lot of mediocre reviews. I disagree. |
RP watch this ASAP buddy.
You will crack up laughing. |
Soul - 9/10
|
Jiu Jitsu - 1.5/4
Cheerfully awful. It would only be 1/4 if Nicolas Cage wasn't in it for 20/30 minutes. He was the only person besides Frank Grillo that had any reason being in front of a camera. It's basically Predator versus martial artists only Predator is a big gay pussy who cheats constantly and is the most butterface baddie ever made. Great all the way up to the neck, then just nonsense faces. It's like a kid drew it. |
watching the shit out of Marvel movies since the blizzard. no reviews, just liking the ride. I was mostly just a fan of the early FOX/Sony movies. Iron Man 1 and 2 were good...didn't like the first Avengers movie so I peaced out until GOTG/2.
|
Just re-watched my favorite movie, The Brown Bunny. Most people don't know that owenbrown was used as the stunt cock for a certain scene.
10/10 |
#ALIVE (Netflix) - 6/10
|
Wonder Woman 1984 7/10
I quite liked a slower-paced, mellower comic book film; especially after Aquaman, whose finale was a brutal assault on the senses. The Wonder Woman films have been the best of the DC Universe films, but they still trail Marvel by a wide margin. |
The White Tiger - 8/10
|
Coming to America-7/10
Ran a little long. There were some scenes that drug things out that didn't accomplish much. But the zingers hit and Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall are dynamite together. The whole case is really great, actually. Hoping the sequel is good |
I Care a Lot.
Good but not great plus a dumb ending. 6/6.5 i guess. |
Interesting rating scale. A 6 out of 6.5 is a 92%. I'd call that "great."
|
I meant on a scale of 10.
|
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs - 85%
Really good! Very silly and very funny. Great cast. Want Bill Hader to get all the awards ever. |
