-   -   Chris Benoit found dead (From WWE.com) (https://www.tpwwforums.com/showthread.php?t=64884)

Jeritron 06-26-2007 07:49 AM

He must have gone absolutely insane. Because the case isn't an act of sudden rage or temper. The murders took place over a period of 48 hours and he was in the house with the dead bodies for a while before killing himself. So it was a sustained time period.
The part that chilled me most, and I wonder if this is true or not it's only a Meltzer report, but the police are saying that he didn't kill his son until 24 hours after Nancy...

Jesus, I mean I agree with Avenger when I say he SEEMED like a great guy. It's important to remember we don't know Chris Benoit the man. We only know Chris Benoit the wrestler and tv character.

I hate to draw insensitve comparisons, but when hearing of how this supposedly all went down I couldn't help but think of The Shining.

I know I'll never be able to see or enjoy anything pertaining to Chris Benoit ever again. As revelations come it will only get worse.

KingofOldSchool 06-26-2007 07:50 AM

If anyone is interested Dave Meltzer is going to be on Good Morning America this morning, it's on until 9 am.

I dunno if he was already on, though.

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 06-26-2007 07:50 AM

Don't know if we'll ever find out whether or not he was in full control of his own mind at the time, but I choose to believe that he wasn't.

Disturbed316 06-26-2007 07:52 AM

I missed Raw last night and came on the net for results, this was the last thing I was expecting to read about.

I've sat here for about 20 minutes now, in stunned silence. When I read the headline I felt like someone had punched me in the stomach, it took the wind right out of me.

I've been a fan of Benoit since his days in WCW and can genuinely say I loved prety much every single one of his matches. No matter who he was against, no matter how shitty the angle was, I always enjoyed watching Benoit wrestle. I've seen him wrestle live a number of times and was always mezmorised by him, gotten his autograph and shook his hand a few times and just always loved seeing him on tv.

Which is why I'm having difficulty accepting what has happened. At the moment I haven't read anywhere else about details on this other than here and WWE.com, but, as much as I hate to actually say these words, Benoit did kill his family. Something must have happened to set him off, but whatever it was, whether there was a fight between him and Nancy or an affair by either part of them, whatever it is, it does not excuse him from killing his son. Fuck.

Jeritron 06-26-2007 08:01 AM

especially a day later. I mean, after killing his wife and the boys mother in the house with him, the child was in there with him for 24 hours before he resolved to kill him as well? wow. I hope that detail isn't true,

Londoner 06-26-2007 08:16 AM

The part that doesn't add up is that he rushed back home for a family emergency...thats what makes me think its not benoit.

That's been a carried over misconception. He never made it Sunday. He also failed to show to the Saturday evening house show in Texas.

His explanation on Sunday was that he couldnt make it due to personal reasons. This was of course an explanation given after he had killed his wife on Saturday. He was of his wits enough to call his boss and come up with an excuse for why he couldnt make it to a PPV that he was in a world title match at. And this was after he had killed his wife, and probably his son. A day later he killed himself. The lights were off at the house all weekend, and he had guard dogs patrolling the yard.
He was found in the weight room dead, his wife in the living room, and his son in his bedroom. The weapons were recovered, but guns or knives weren't involved.

this is the reports I'm hearing. Meltzer and the Police are the sources.

Imagine how that poor 7 year old boy must have been feeling. Knowing his dad has killed his mum and now he's trapped in a house with him, not knowing what is going to happen. How the fuck must that feel.

KingofOldSchool 06-26-2007 08:23 AM

Yeah, Benoit called Saturday saying that he was going to take a late plane to get to the house show on Saturday night only to call later in the day saying that he wasn't going to make the show because Nancy and Daniel were coughing up blood and needed to take care of them.

Jesus, it almost makes you wonder what the fuck he was thinking when he placed that call. I mean, could he have gone batshit crazy enough to make that call while he was killing them or even scarier before hand? And perhaps more chilling, could he have done any of this in a manner that he literally meant "the family was coughing up blood and he had to 'take care of them'"
I mean, it's really beginning to freak me out.
Because reports are of the son being killed on Sunday and the wife on Saturday, and now its coming out that he called on Saturday MORNING?!?!

He also didn't kill himself until Monday... which means perhaps it took a while for him to come down from whatever world he was in....

It's pretty easy to tell if a house was forced into, how long people have been dead, or if they were killed or killed themselves. So I'm guessing the police are pretty damn sure about circumstances.

Guess we have to wait to hear if Benoit left a note and if not what the text messages he left said. As I suppose they will act as a last note. And the results of the autopsy. It's not unheard of that you can develop brain tumors after years of being dropped on your head that could really mess you up.

But no matter what happens, I really feel sorry for his remaining family and his friends/co-workers. If we are having a hard time dealing with this imagine what it's like for people that have traveled with him and worked with him for years. Who really did know him. I really don't envy the WWE and Vince at this point, they have a lot of hard decisions to make.

McDoogle 06-26-2007 08:35 AM

If these allegations are true, I hope he burns in hell and I have absolutely no pity or sympathy for him.

Meltzer is saying the friend was Chavo Guerrero.

KingofOldSchool 06-26-2007 08:37 AM

Another thing that makes it hard for forced entry, according to the detectives, the police had a hard time getting into the home because of two large German Shepard guard dogs that were there.

You would think any potential outsider meaning to do harm to the Benoit's would have probably been chewed to bits by the German Shepards.

Jeritron 06-26-2007 08:38 AM

well put lort.

I hate to say this, but this whole story has E True Hollywood story and documentary written all over it....There's just so much information and truly disturbing stuff going on right now

Triple A,

where are you getting this Meltzer information? I'd really like to get any source of information right now...not really out of interest, but concern and a need for answers. I normally hate media coverage, but right now I wish they'd give me some answers. They don't seem to care much.

Wrestler Benoit Found Dead With Family

Authorities Await Autopsies in Deaths of Wrestler Chris Benoit, Wife, 7-Year-Old Son

By DEBBIE NEWBY

The Associated Press

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga.

Pro wrestler Chris Benoit canceled a pay-per-view appearance at the "Vengeance" event in Houston because of "personal reasons" a day before he, his wife and their 7-year-old son were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide.
Details of the deaths "are going to prove a little bizarre" when released to the public, Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Autopsies were scheduled Tuesday by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in DeKalb County.
Authorities were investigating the deaths at a secluded Fayette County home as a murder-suicide and were not seeking any suspects.
Investigators believe Benoit, (pronounced ben-WAH) killed his wife and son over the weekend and then himself sometime Monday. The bodies were found Monday afternoon in three different rooms of the house on Green Meadow Lane, in a subdivision off a gravel road about two miles from the Whitewater Country Club.
Ballard told The Associated Press a gun was not used in any of the deaths. But he declined to say how the three died.
"We're pretty sure we know, but we want to confirm it with the crime lab," Ballard said early Tuesday.
Fayette County Coroner C.J. Mowell did not return phone calls. The answering service for his funeral home said he was out of town.
World Wrestling Entertainment said on its Web site that it asked authorities to check on Benoit and his family after being alerted by friends who received "several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning."
Sheriff's Lt. Tommy Pope told WSB-TV that the three were found about 2:30 p.m., but he wouldn't release other details.
Stamford, Conn.-based WWE also said on its Web site it had been asked by authorities not to release further information on the deaths of Benoit, 40; his wife, Nancy, 43; and son, Daniel.
Benoit was born in Montreal. He was a former world heavyweight champion, Intercontinental champion and held several tag-team titles over his career. He was known by several names including "The Canadian Crippler."
<!-- page --> "WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family's relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy," the company said in a statement on its Web site.
Benoit had maintained a home in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the defunct World Championship Wrestling.
The WWE canceled its live "Monday Night RAW" card in Corpus Christi, Texas, and USA Network aired a three-hour tribute to Benoit in place of the scheduled wrestling telecast.
Benoit's wife managed several wrestlers and went by the stage name, "Woman," The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
They met when her then-husband drew up a script that had them involved in a relationship as part of an ongoing story line on World Championship Wrestling, the newspaper said.
Benoit has two other children from a prior relationship.

Holy crap. Never expected anything like this to happen.

Chris Benoit was without a doubt one of the greatest wrestlers ever, capable of having a good match with anyone. He was never the best at interviews, but definitely made up for this with his in-ring ability.

I will always have respect for Chris Benoit the wrestler, but with all signs pointing to Benoit murdering his wife and son, it's become very difficult to have the same respect for Chris Benoit the man right now. It's quite unbelievable that so soon after Mr McMahon's "death" and investigation, there's a real-life "whodunnit" going on involving a member of the WWE community.

Love him or hate him, there's no doubt that Chris, Nancy and Daniel Benoit all left this world far too soon. My prayers go out to their family and friends.

I hope that the result of the initial investigations are wrong (which is quite possible), but if this indeed true then I'll probably have a new range of thoughts on the situation. This has WWE behind the 8-ball because they tape ECW and SmackDown! tonight and if Chris Benoit did indeed kill his family then WWE has to choose between honoring a lost brother or celebrating a killer. Also, imagine how his friends and family feel. They lost a friend, a family, and now they have to accept the possibility that their friend or family member is a fucking murderer. I hope this is just a freak accident, but the fact is that Chris Benoit quite possibly had a demon that finally took control. That is not an excuse, but something causes a man to kill his family.

I don't know if we'll ever figure that out or not, but my sympathy are with the 2 children left without their father and step-mom and half-brother. A family left without 3 people they loved. A long list of people who are left without a friend. All those people have to deal with a tragedy that could forever change how they felt about someone they loved. That is more than salt on a wound...that is pouring acid on it. This directly affects so many people on a personal level that I feel selfish for even thinking about how it affects wrestling and its fans. I can only hope that Nancy and Daniel didn't suffer in their death. Rest in peace Nancy, Daniel, and hopefully I can say the same for Chris. I hope my memories and respect for Chris Benoit are not destoryed within the upcoming weeks. I hope we are all wrong. Like Chris Benoit's catchphrase said, "Prove me wrong."

That is what I am afraid of. I really don't want to remember Benoit as a murderer, but it is looking like I will and that really is hard for guy who has been a Benoit mark since he was in 2nd grade.

Jeritron 06-26-2007 09:13 AM

Human nature, I can't help but wonder and speculate as to what he did that is "bizarre". We know its not guns or knives, and I highly doubt any kind of blunt force or poisoning would be seen as 'bizarre' and be evident, yet pend a lab result....

This could get stranger, if at all possible.

I know exactly what you mean....I'm already having a hard time with this as it is.

This is hardly a major concern, but I mentioned to a friend..What do you do when a former champion, royal rumble winner and wrestlemania main eventer goes Charles Manson? It's going to be very strange....I don't know if I'll ever be able to return to enjoying things as I once did, and thats a shame.
This isn't your average accident, suicide, drug overdose or old age/disease death tragedy.
This is quickly getting to the point where it's entering Stephen King territory. The Shining to be exact... only with one of the top stars and favorites ever, and in real life.

Theo Dious 06-26-2007 09:17 AM

Incidentally, doesn't Benoit have like 2 other kids? Where were/are they?

James Steele 06-26-2007 09:18 AM

I just hope Nancy and Daniel didn't die a painful death.

Jeritron 06-26-2007 09:19 AM

I was wondering the same thing. I just found out they were children from a previous relationship and not Nancy. They must live with their mother.
