It wasn't directly what the instructions were, it was how it was worded. Who calls Nash "Big man" besides his friends? Yes, Of The River gained the most, but we're supposed to doubt the integrity of Triple Doofus right now. Also, we have a list of suspects in Hunter himself, Super Dave, the re-emerged Billion Dollar Princess, and any multitude of Kliq members up to and including HBK.

Del Rio simply buying off Nash would be one thing, he has the kayfabe money for it. But with that said, if a guy who flaunts his money can just buy a favor, why go through the trouble of "tricking" Nash into it?

Exactly. I think teasing Del rio with the "winner" comment is a red herring.

This is either going to end with HHH being in on it, or Steph doing it behind his back to get at Punk for getting her Dad fired.

I would love it if Steph was behind it, leading to a Steph, Super Dave, Nash group (I liked someones Idea of the Miz v Punk) being group going at it with Punk and HHH (who is playing innocent and a face) with then HHH swerving Punk and going Heel.

This can play out over a few months with them then Holding Punk down and him winning the Rumble to face their corporate champ, Miz or Del Rio.

Along the way the KOW debut as Punks backup. They have been making alot of Indy references to Punk lately, who might say, fuck it, yeah, and here are the Indys to back me up.

Rock Bottom 08-16-2011 11:33 AM

This could be Vince too, really. Johnny Ace pulling Kevin Nash aside too. I mean, Hunter's 'in charge,' and we've seen what HHH's character does when he's in charge and in business for himself. McMahon-Helmsley was ridiculous and over the top when it came to heel antics. (not necessarily always in a bad way, he really got guys over even more)

He ain't doing that now. Of course, none of that has to make any sense. Just, if you think about it, Vince McMahon being behind all this might make the most sense, other than Stephanie being insulted, which doesn't have to contend against the Vince theory at all.

Things haven't been this unpredictable in quite some time.

McLegend 08-16-2011 01:48 PM

It's gonna get fucked up in the end.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2011 01:49 PM

I guess you don't have to be optimistic.

Xero 08-16-2011 01:57 PM

Optimism is the tool of a fool.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2011 02:09 PM

You're a tool.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2011 02:11 PM

Really though, it seems like people sometimes don't want to get excited for something because they don't want to look like they were wrong about it if it DOES fall through...but even when it DOESN'T fall through, people will say "OMG THIS IS A FIRST..but they'll fuck it up eventually".

Maybe optimism isn't always the best policy in life-altering scenarios, but I think it's just fine as a wrestling fan to just sit back and hope for the best.

Innovator 08-16-2011 02:19 PM

I have a bad feeling that they're gonna Invasion this.

Corndad 08-16-2011 02:20 PM

It seems like People can't enjoy good things anymore. It's kinda sad. Just looking back when we all first started watching, mostly when we were kids, we just enjoyed it for what it was. No over thinking. Just watching these characters come alive on your TV.

Sepholio 08-16-2011 02:23 PM

I will believe in the WWE's ability to pull off this Nash/HHH/Punk angle without screwing it up....unless they bring in Scott Hall or Sean Waltman. Then I will give up on it.

THANK YOU! Fuck I can't stand reading 90% of the comments on here sometimes. Wrestling has not been this good in YEARS... it is really good right now.

I have a ring and it says ELE... EVERYBODY LOVE EVERYBODY!

Captain of Fun 08-16-2011 02:33 PM

I think it would be cool if it was laurinitis who sent the text, on orders from vince. I thought it was kind of strange how the character who defined ruthless aggression, just kind of humbly accepted being kicked out of power. I could see this being Vince pulling the strings still, to try and sabotage Triple H's run as COO, all leading to a Vince vs HHH streetfight or something, for control of the company.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2011 02:40 PM

VICKIE: You don't kiss me...ever.

DOLPH: I had a cold last week.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2011 02:41 PM

JR: Does my hat get a payday?

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2011 02:42 PM

Sorry, watching it again right now.

Slow 08-16-2011 03:20 PM

My money's on John Laurenitis (however you spell it), otherwise can't figure out why he's on TV all of a sudden

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2011 03:32 PM

He's been on TV ever since Money in the Bank. I wouldn't exactly call that "all of a sudden".

Sepholio 08-16-2011 03:45 PM

It's actually a plausible idea that Vince is behind this, especially considering John Lauranitis being involved. After all, it was Vince who got him involved in MITB in the first place. However I wouldn't see that angle ending with HHH vs Vince, as I could see HHH being in on it with Vince. This is looking like a return to the corporation imo. I think even The Rock will be revealed to be in on all this eventually.

Also, seriously, wtf happened to the anonymous GM? That is going to get tied up in all this as well. And by that I mean I fully expect CM Punk or someone else to make reference to the GM storyline being forgotten about entirely like it never even happened. You know, one of those little jabs everyone seems to be getting so good at making lately.

GD 08-16-2011 03:47 PM

I have had it with Jerry's lame Vickie jokes.

Riker 08-16-2011 04:03 PM

Is the Raw GM podium still there?

Jordan 08-16-2011 04:14 PM

I don't think so. I think the anonymous GM will be dropped until further notice, please, let it the fuck go.

Lock Jaw 08-16-2011 04:25 PM

My podium is still there. However, with all my bosses being there and making all the decisions, I have pretty much had a few month vacation. I have not been wished well in my future endeavors just yet.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2011 04:28 PM

I feel like the podium is still there. If I didn't see it last night, I saw it at SummerSlam.

I'm re-watching Riley vs Swagger just for the commentary. Seriously, that was so entertaining. I don't know what Cole, Lawler and JR were drinking throughout the night but they went from "meh" to absolutely brilliant together in the span of one week.

And I've been on the fence for so long but I think I'm officially on the Dolph Ziggler bandwagon. He's a star.

Finally had a chance to watch:

1. After a month of building a "new" WWE, it feels based solely on promos that we're back to mid-card Punk and Super Cena. Punk never once mentioned getting a rematch, and Cena was all "I'm coming after you, Del Rio!"

2. I've read that there are 5 or so different directions they've considered taking the Nash storyline. It showed during his segment. Ambiguous statements are ambiguous.

3. Anyone else notice that while they gave Truth back his music, the intro changed from "The truth shall set you free" to "The truth has set me free"?

4. When they first came back from break for the Swagger match, it felt really awkward to have Vickie and Dolph just kind of muttering somewhat quietly as the first sounds from commentary. I thought there was a random backstage mike left on picking up a passing conversation.

5. Not really sure if Mysterio is off tv or not. Usually if WWE is writing someone off in an injury angle, they stretcher the guy out, or at least show refs/EMTs helping the guy to the back. We didn't even get a "Rey with the trainers" moment. (On a related note, TO ME, Rey is less entertaining than Cena. Rey has his own "5 Moves of Doom" and is constantly coming back from extreme beatings. Rey sells better than Cena, but the "Little Big Man" syndrome gets to me much worse.)

6. For a company trying to endorse an "anti-bullying" campaign, someone desperately needs to tell Lawler to stop directing fat jokes at a now much slimmer Vickie.

Mr. JL 08-17-2011 07:36 PM

The WWE needs to continue building CM Punk versus Kevin Nash. With Punk going over strong and beating Nash so badly that Nash gives up whoever put him up to it so CM Punk can then target that guy.

LOL hell naw! Punk beating 7 foot Nash so badly he gives up whoever put him to it?

CSL 08-17-2011 07:41 PM

I think what Mr. JL meant to say was "The WWE needs to continue building CM Punk versus Kevin Nash. With Nash powerbombing Punk so hard that he has a near death experience, complete with Vince in fancy dress, a white light at the end of the tunnel and Sid before Scott Hall dressed as Eddie Guerrero emerges from the light and points Punk in the right direction as to who is guiding Kevin Nash. Which naturally will turn out to be Kevin Nash merely with a 2nd phone. And then Nash draws 38,000 to the Garden again for Survivor Series as they have the match of the year"

...Nash still draws...the times he's been out, he has shaken up the wrestling world, fans have gone crazy...so, there's SOMETHING there...

...could a Punk/Nash match sell out? DEFINITELY.

BTW, I'm watching RAW on Mun2 now, the replay, and when Nash came out, it was said by Michael Cole that he (Kevin) was the longest reigning WWE Champion of the 90s...wow...

CSL 08-17-2011 08:12 PM

not only the longest reigning but the undisputed highest drawing champion by a considerable amount also

I read "Highest drawing" and saw only the top half of the chart and thought it was gonna be a Zack Ryder joke.
