Seanny One Ball 11-23-2021 10:12 AM

I’ll start it soon. Need to watch Fargo season 4 too, new Curb Your Enthusiasm and I’m currently rewatching every James Bond film...

drave 11-23-2021 11:33 AM

Need to get caught up on the last to Daniel Craig 007 films. Did not care for Tim Dalton.

Seanny One Ball 11-23-2021 12:16 PM

Timothy Dalton is my favourite Bond...

I must have seen “The Living Daylights” twenty times. I actually started my marathon with it, I’ll be ending with “License To Kill” just to bookend it with greatness.

Moonraker is actually a comedy spy film IMO. I just watched it again today and it has all the elements of a great Pink Panther film. “A Shot Into Space” or something...

drave 11-23-2021 12:20 PM

LOL - Moonraker definitely felt like a Spoof. 100% was waiting to see Leslie Nielsen pop up in there somewhere.

The Fraze 11-23-2021 04:28 PM

Watched a few full episodes of "Who's The Boss" on YouTube.

slik 11-23-2021 05:40 PM

Mona

Mona was the real boss

Seanny One Ball 11-24-2021 03:15 PM

They should do a game show called “Who’s The Bus?” where they line up say ten coaches and a contestant has to figure out which one is actually a bus.

That’s a show where the Netflix 2 seasons theory would make a lot of sense.

Seanny One Ball 11-24-2021 05:00 PM

Watching “Bill Burr Presents Immoral Compass”, a series of shorts presented in an anthology with episodes containing skits that reflect the theme Burr’s character “Ricky” is bitching about.

The skits are pretty funny so far, not as shocking as they could be but they are well played however the monologues by Ricky are excellent.

The Fraze 11-24-2021 05:03 PM

Honestly crazy to me how famous Bill Burr has become. It's no longer "cool" or "unique" to say he's my favorite comedian.

Seanny One Ball 11-25-2021 01:17 PM

That’s the price of popularity.

Fignuts 11-27-2021 08:02 PM

Arcane on Netflix.

3 episodes in. Very impressed so far. And I had zero experience or interest in league of legends going in.

Speaking of Bill Burr, we finished F is for Family on Netflix today. Tremendous.

Lock Jaw 11-28-2021 11:37 PM

Been watching the final season of Supergirl. This show is just soooooooo preachy sometimes.

drave 11-29-2021 09:16 AM

sometimes?

Go watch more Westworld and question your existence instead.

drave 11-29-2021 10:20 AM

Netflix's Cowboy Bebop thoroughly enjoyable thus far :D

Been watching Tom Lasso (via illicit means). It's a fucking shame it's on Apple+, because this deserves more recognition while simultaneously not giving Apple more goddamn money.

Much like Brockmire, it took a one-off sports joke and became an entire universe unto itself. It's written well, the song choices are very deliberate, and *nearly* every character is a whole person (except maybe Rupert) with their flaws and charms.

And Roy Kent is the fucking best.

Also, a joke that isn't really a joke unless you know about it, the series starts with a Division 2 championship win by the Wichita State football team. Problem is, Wichita State hasn't had a football team in decades. And with both the influx of alumni money (read: Koch Brothers) and how much they usually rake in from both basketball and, surprisingly, baseball, that's not likely to change anytime soon. They're like to polar opposite of Marshall with that decision.

Fignuts 11-30-2021 06:16 AM

Finished watching Arcane

Write me down for a Dave Meltzer 7 out of 5 stars. So well done.

drave 11-30-2021 08:54 AM

Dude, I started that last night. Watched the first 4 episodes and WOW!!! I know nothing of the game, but this show is fantastic. Well written, fast-paced and man, lots of unexpected and sudden moments!

Will be watching more.

Season 2 sucked after 3 episodes.... are you telling me to watch it again, Tom?

I feel like Sudeikis is having a mid-life crisis with this show. It’s like tea with ten sugars

ive started this based on your recommendation. so far i hate the art style but like it overall. one ep in though so the plot hasnt really started yet

drave 12-01-2021 09:48 AM

By ep 3 the plot has moved TONS.

Good show, on ep 6

Destor 12-01-2021 09:54 AM

im def not judging its plot yet let it get out of the 1st act at least. i like the characters

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-01-2021 01:46 PM

Finished rewatching the two seasons of Rome. A marvellous show, which would have been much better if they had allowed it to run for the 4-5 seasons as originally intended. The second season is a bit of a mess and rushed, as they tried to cram in stories from the other seasons that didn't go ahead. Shame.

I'm into the second half of Foundation, as suggested by Seanny of the One True Ball. I'm enjoying it, but the show is fairly run of the mill; it's no The Expanse.

Seanny One Ball 12-01-2021 09:14 PM

Funnily enough I gave up on Foundation for being a bit too soap-opera-in-space for my liking. It looked tits after the opening episode but it went a bit too heavy on the extra plot lines.
Asimov reads like an encyclopaedia entry, even in dialogue. The show should have presented it as such. It should be like a serious “Hitchhiker’s Guide”, that’s the only way to do it.

Seanny One Ball 12-01-2021 09:17 PM

I am going to give The Expanse a proper go someday. I just need to find something to matinee it with. Seems like a lot to get through...

Seanny One Ball 12-01-2021 09:53 PM

The only really weak thing in this new season of Dexter is the presence of Ghost-Deb.
That fucking face just ruins everything. Always getting angry and never twenty seconds away from crying like a fuckwit. She was never a great addition so I have no idea why they decided that a dead and somehow even more neurotic version was necessary...

Lock Jaw 12-03-2021 01:51 AM

Want to watch Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas..... but alas it is on "The Roku Channel" (where it will fail miserably because who has that?).... can't even find it anywhere online....

Lock Jaw 12-03-2021 01:14 PM

Just finished watching it.... shame at not being able to see some of these stories play out over the course of a season 3 instead of jammed into a movie.... was still enjoyable and good to see them back at all. Too bad that very few people will get to see it....

Seanny One Ball 12-03-2021 07:17 PM

Started watching “Channel Zero” because I was in the mood for a more legitimate horror and I can’t keep going back to AHS when all it does is lead me to disappointment.
First episode is good...very tense and seemingly has roots in rational fears. Hopefully if it gets weird it goes big.

Seanny One Ball 12-03-2021 07:26 PM

This is going to be fucked up isn’t it...

Paul Schneider was a great choice for this.

Seanny One Ball 12-03-2021 08:28 PM

Yeah this is pretty messed up stuff, I like it. Nice early twists and turns!

Seanny One Ball 12-03-2021 08:30 PM

Not sure about the tooth thing though...

Fignuts 12-04-2021 11:36 PM

Channel Zero >>>>>>>>AHS

The first season is good, but probably the weakest of the bunch.

Fignuts 12-04-2021 11:38 PM

Also, I've watched a few episodes of creepshow on shudder and it's pretty great. One off episodes, like tales from the crypt.

Seanny One Ball 12-05-2021 03:40 AM

Second season of Channel Zero reminds me a of AHS in some ways. The music is very similar...

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-06-2021 04:42 PM

Finished watching the short-lived BBC series, Banished, which is a drama set at the Botany Bay penal colony. I don't tend to be the biggest fan of BBC dramas, though I've watched a number of them as of late, but I found it rather watchable. Sadly, it was cancelled after 1 season.

I've been occasionally watching episodes from another BBC series, Ripper Street, which is a Victorian detective series set in Whitechapel (London), and centres around a detective haunted by his inability to catch Jack the Ripper. I can't decide whether I like it or not; waiting for it to grab me.

I need to find something to watch that will tide me over until the new series of The Witcher and The Expanse are out.

Lock Jaw 12-06-2021 11:59 PM

Started the final five episodes of Casa de Papel/Money Heist. Two down, and enjoying it... things moving on....

drave 12-07-2021 09:47 AM

penal

Seanny One Ball 12-08-2021 06:16 AM

I finished “No End House” from Channel Zero last night. It was pretty good but I think the soundtrack is way too similar to AHS and the John Carrol Lynch connection makes it seem deliberate.

Lock Jaw 12-08-2021 11:21 PM

Enjoyed it a lot.... overall Part 3/4/5 was just way too long, could have condensed it and cut out some of the "it's an action movie now" parts and made it better

Seanny One Ball 12-09-2021 12:21 AM

Sounds like a heap of shite that you got used to the taste of so you just kept shovelling it in...

weather vane 12-09-2021 01:06 AM

Always Sunny new season. Always good.

Seanny One Ball 12-09-2021 03:25 AM

I ain’t cracking that one open til I have the chance to binge it.

Dennis Reynolds is my jam.

weather vane 12-09-2021 09:40 AM

He would be your jam haha.

XL 12-10-2021 02:26 PM

Finished up The Outlaws. A BBC production from Stephen Merchant and Elgin James (creator of Mayan M.C.) and starring Merchant and Christopher Walken. Crime caper/dramedy. Really enjoyed it.

TNARICK1 12-11-2021 11:39 PM

Right now catching up on season 10 of the walking dead. Idk how far into it I was so just rewatching a few episodes but I am pretty sure I've never seen the full season. I watch about half a episode or so a night then go to sleep.

Also occasionally watching old WCW Nitro's. I'm in 97 where Luger won the title. Show is pretty boring. I started the Road Wild 97 PPV and haven't got back to it in over a week. Wrestling is so boring.

Lock Jaw 12-12-2021 06:16 PM

Watching the last season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia because I somehow missed it.... lol at the Thundergun episode.... I love episodes where they have a "normal person" antagonist who is just totally taken aback by the gang....

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-13-2021 12:07 PM

The final season of The Expanse has started, but Amazon are only releasing one episode a week, so I can't see myself watching it until February, when it should ready to binge. I need to rewatch season 5, as well.

Seanny One Ball 12-13-2021 04:43 PM

This new season of Dexter is damned good. It’s as good as the first four seasons were, which is really surprising even with the same show runner. It’s hard to come back from 4-5 seasons of mediocrity, but somehow with a few years distance the loose ends grew into plot threads rich with potential.

What a comeback.

MacGruber show... why didn’t I know about this?!

Will Forte is a real comedy genius. I hope this is as good as the film...

Seanny One Ball 12-16-2021 10:32 PM

The first five minutes of episode 1 are so good I have just gotten my hopes up.

God bless you Will Forte you funny son of a bitch.

Seanny One Ball 12-16-2021 10:37 PM

Yeah I put my money on this being the best comedy show since What We Do In The Shadows came out after ten minutes.

It’s hilarious.

Seanny One Ball 12-16-2021 10:53 PM

This was a busy first episode.

4/4

drave 12-17-2021 08:10 AM

I also didn't know there was a show, but will be watching now!

ClockShot 12-17-2021 10:37 AM

Going to fire up Witcher season 2 either later today or tomorrow.

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-18-2021 11:42 AM

I finished Arcane. An absolutely marvellous show. I look forward to season 2, though I suspect we'll be waiting several years for it.

Bad News Gertner 12-20-2021 12:51 PM

Dark Side of the 90's on Vice is a really cool show. Came across the start of the Beanie Babies episode and watched the whole thing. Watched the episode on Jerry Springer and "Trash T.V. Also really good. Now watching the episode on Teen Dramas (90210, Party of 5 Etc...)

Tom Guycott 12-20-2021 11:34 PM

Just ran through the new season of The Witcher.

Without any real spoilers, I can say they changed to a linear narrative this time, and even quite cleverly addressed some of the major season 1 criticisims (like the unexplained time jumping) in the dialogue itself.

Sammy00 12-21-2021 12:35 PM

I’m watching “the Crown”. The series is very beautiful and well-shot. When you look, you get colossal aesthetic pleasure. But the feeling of chewing gum does not leave, as if the director is afraid to overload the viewer's brain. Instead of showing historical action (what is happening in the world, behind-the-scenes wars, etc.) - one clear chewed line. Long scenes with kisses, silence of the main characters, etc. Therefore, the impression is very ambiguous. It would be cool if the entire series showed world history through the prism of the life of Elizabeth Il. But alas, no. Everything is provided for this story to last 10 seasons. Otherwise I liked Churchill and the scenery very much.

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-26-2021 09:28 AM

I just finished the first season of The Wheel of Time. I've never read the books, so I can't say how much they deviate from the source material, for better or for worse. I liked it, even though identity politics is strong with this one, and I look forward to season 2.

I'll watch fantasy shows all day long, so unless it is entirely naff, I'll generally enjoy such stuff.

I might watch season 3 of The Outpost, to get another fantasy fix, before I tackle season 2 of The Witcher over the New Year.

Seanny One Ball 12-26-2021 04:30 PM

Latest Dexter episode had one of the best ever climaxes in the series’ history. This season has revived the franchise, they will have to make more now.

Night Court on imdb going through season by season again, Also the Witcher and the new season of Discovery.

Cobra Kai in a few days.

I saw the original Anime series.

Sepholio 12-27-2021 06:13 PM

OG cowboy bebop is prob the best anime ever tbh. It is to me anyways.

Talked about it a couple months ago, but just now finally got around to watching AHS. Didn't care too much for season 1, but season 2/Asylum has got me hooked now.

Asylum is the best IMO. Freak Show is okay too..... but I kinda reeeeeeeeally hate musicals. It picked up steam in the 2nd half.

Hotel as just an excuse to put softcore porn on AMC for an hour a week.

Haven't watched beyond that.

Seanny One Ball 12-28-2021 11:41 AM

“Freak Show” was the last and possibly only truly great season, and it was so relentlessly grim and mean spirited that Michael Chiklis has never returned to the series. Says it’s the worst he ever felt at work.

drave 12-28-2021 11:49 AM

Truly Great*

god damnit.

Fignuts 12-28-2021 01:36 PM

Couldn't watch freak show. Impossible for me not to compare it to Carnivale, which was a much better show and made me sad it was cancelled.

Wheel of Time is super rushed. That was expected with only 8 episodes though. It has been a like a decade since I read the book. The only thing that seemed deviated was the amount of romance in the episodes. Was dialed up to the extreme.

Wish they had about 4 more episodes to flesh out the story. Matt got shafted hard.

Sepholio 12-28-2021 10:32 PM

I rather liked Asylum. Way better than season 1. I'm on coven now though and I think I like this one even more.

drave 12-29-2021 09:34 AM

Coven was pretty good too.

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-29-2021 10:15 AM

Gotta love the White Witch.

Sepholio 12-29-2021 05:05 PM

Yea really dug Coven. Rolling straight into Apocalypse as such. Will go back to season 4 after that.

Seanny One Ball 12-30-2021 06:54 AM

You’ve fucked up not going with Freak Show

drave 12-30-2021 09:30 AM

Yeah.....

It starts rather intensely, what the first few mins of the first episode. It was a slow burn after that and seemed boring in between the actual shocking shit.

drave 12-30-2021 09:33 AM

Bout halfway through 2nd season of The Witcher.

I lol'd too hard at Geralt calling someone a "firefucker" because fire magic is forbidden, but one of the baddies dabbles with it.

drave 12-30-2021 11:03 AM

Holy fuck at episode 8 :O

SPOILER: show
Pissed off elf lady kills human babies en masse by cursing their homes. This causes the babies chests to burn until she completed the spell and instantly killed them all. It went from hearing a myriad of baby screams, to parents wailing in agony at the sudden death of their babies. Fuck.

Nah I know that is supposed to be the best one. That's actually why I skipped it for Apocalypse. Figured I'd watch coven/apocalypse together instead of breaking them up with the one series that seems to be guaranteed to be better than they are.

Seanny One Ball 12-30-2021 12:59 PM

Coven is the next best season.

Coven is actually funny, and given the subject matter that really is an achievement.

Sepholio 12-30-2021 02:29 PM

Can't wait for whatever they do next with the coven. They could spin that whole story off into its own show and I would def watch it.

Binging the hell out of these obviously. Time to get this Freakshow on the road.

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-01-2022 03:51 PM

I've just finished season 2 of The Witcher. I liked it more than the first season, especially as they dropped the whole Westworld multi-timeline shenanigans, which was not executed well in the initial season. But, overall, while I enjoy the series, it remains a B-rate programme at best.

I've also finished season 3 of The Outpost. It doesn't have the budget of The Witcher, Wheel of Time and other similar programmes, and the acting is iffy at best; but they make the best of what they've got, and is a show that is not afraid to take chances. Furthermore, Jessica Green is just ridiculously attractive. Like, seriously, she is just obscene.

Lock Jaw 01-01-2022 03:53 PM

Finished up the season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Dunno. Something felt lacking this season. Some funny stuff for sure going on, but on the whole, I dunno....

RP 01-02-2022 01:14 AM

I finished Sea of Silence. It was decent. Nothing amazing. Just decent.

Sepholio 01-02-2022 12:38 PM

Freakshow is some of the best TV I think I've ever seen. It's so unique and obv not scared to take risks. Gripping stuffz. This is another AHS universe I could have watched as its own show.

Theres a certain character that appears at a couple points that I really think they could use as the basis for a "connected" season. Found him very intradasting.

Sepholio 01-03-2022 03:39 PM

Ok so I'm on hotel now. Porno vampires in episode 1 lol. They seem fun.

Sepholio 01-03-2022 03:40 PM

ngl I'm really looking forward to Roanoke. I think that's next. I'm assuming it ties into the old stories from there somehow. Always been fascinated by that.

Blonde Moment 01-03-2022 10:36 PM

The show is just on the right side of ridiculous, and has some great scenery porn.

Liked this one a lot too. Prob my 2 fave characters in the series so far in Liz Taylor and James Patrick Marsh. Feel like they'll be revisiting the Cortez at some point in the future.

They would have to do a big detour NOT to go this direction.
