Cross Assault is absolutely retarded. A full bar for maybe 6 seconds of characters on the screen at the same time, 3 seconds are spent actually moving toward the evading opponent. I don't understand that at all. Pandora is pretty lame also but I could see it being a huge advantage if all 4 players were very low on health. But by the time that happens the match will be over due to time limit.
I get that Tekken characters are supposed to have long combos. I understand. But it's still frustrating. Also, my inputs aren't registering in this game. I missed a bunch of shit. And it's not lag, I miss them in training mode too. I don't know how I can hit everything in SSF4 and MVC3 but mess up so frequently on here. |
Also, gotta remember about rolls being in the game :o. Keep trying to do my played out Akuma tactics but they just roll on by. I'll figure it out eventually. Along with not tagging my partner when I'm trapped in a corner (sorry Fignuts).

Yeah, I've been going on about the Tekken cast for a while, now. I think that's why I like Scramble. They can't do that annoying huge "combo-tag out-combo-tag back in" thing that takes off about 75%. Inputs are weird for me sometimes, as well. I'll do the input for Hugos charge move and he ends up leaping across the screen for the backbreaker. Or when I'm trying to tag out and it wont let me. |
Quote:
It would help if Pandora put your guy back where your partner was standing. Then, maybe, it would be useable. I'd sacrifice Hugo, standing right next to my opponent and Zangief is standing across the screen, flexing. So I now have to spend most of this really short window trying to reach the guy and then hit him while he jumps backwards the entire time. Edit: Not a fan of rolls. If we can roll towards the opponent, why not away? There are times you're knocked down and screwed no matter if you stand up or try and roll. |
Raw tagging in general is usually a bad idea against anyone over D level.
Dunno why you are having trouble with inputs. There is a larger window here than in ssf4. Also, from what I hear, Akuma isn't quite as good as he was in ssf4. I would guess because he still takes a ton of damage, if not more, and high damage combos are much easier to pull off in this game. Considering working my julia some more, and maining her instead of heihachi. |
I have a small question for anyone that got access to he on disc content "early".
How many colour packs are there? It seems each pack has four colours in it so if you just count how many rows of colours their are, you'll know how many packs there will be. |
Don't think anyone here has hacked it.
|

I saw a screen a few weeks ago that showed a few unreleased colours so someone has them all unlocked.
Guess I could google it. |
There should be about 13 or 14 packs, according to Google.
|
Gonna rock glow purple on all my characters. That pastel purple won't cut it.
|
Having a fully neon character do an EX move is like setting off a flash grenade. Really dazzling, mid fight.
I'm going to maybe try giving Sagat a simple Cinder look when neon orange shows up. Going to try and see if I can pull off a "Fulgore" look for Vegas swap outfit. |
Nah, Fulgore doesn't work.
|
Figured out why I'm having problems with inputs. My brand spanking new controller has difficulty registering diagonals on the LS
|
Pretty sure I still don't like the game though
|
I think my problem is that I'm trying to play Street Fighter in a game that doesn't resemble Street Fighter in the slightest
|
Quote:
|
Also, while I'm really enjoying this, I also prefer SF4.
That said, the habit of playing this like it's sf, fades after a couple weeks. |
It's also my controller. Was telling Drakul I'm pretty sure I know how to throw an air fireball after all these years and my silver controller would only recognize the inputs maybe 60% of the time. My black one works flawless though.
Now it's a matter of adjusting for the hideous lag online. |
I'm following people from my friends list on SFxT and I'd done a search a couple days ago for new public replays of the people on my list and got nothing. I tried again last night and one replay has gone public.
RoXer and I teaming up against some guy. So, that seems to be the first replay featuring people from TPWW to make it to the public replay channel. |
I started following myself and I have a replay up aswell. I think it's from early the same day as the RoXer match, if my list of recently met people is any indication.
I'd have thought ther would have been some kind of indication that a match was being recorded, like SSFIV did with those little symbols. They looked like rolls of film to me. |
Has anyone done Mission 13? It was insanely frustrating. We have to:
Win via time out in a 60 sec long match We only have 25% health AI only has 5% health So we can't really attack and we can't just block the whole time because you'll get chipped to death. The two AI's you're up against are Guile that can throw Sonic Booms one after another, no charging, and Law who is able to leap right across the screen with a kick, so you can't really run from him. I tried every character that had a teleport and I'd still get nowhere. I think I tried it that much the AI may have actually got bored. It just seemed to stop trying. Or it might have been because I got sick of the BGM and put on Gangrels theme instead. Either way, I managed to pass it on the first attempt after I put that music on. The AI in the missions is using gems that aren't available to us yet. The "Beyond Being Human" mission has Ogre using a gem that activates a strength boost for him when you trigger your Ultra. It doesn't have to connect, you just have to activate it. Dan likes to tell us to buy more gems in mission mode. It seems like some of the missions are specifically designed to encourage you to buy gems. Like they're so ridiculous that you'll need to buy a better gem. Take Mission 13. I couldn't think of a gem that activated speed or anything in the conditions that mission allowed. The conditions tend to be "do X number of attacks" or "get hit by X number of attacks", which you can't really do with such low health on both teams. The AI in that mission always triggered cross assault, though. With Ogre having a gem in another mission that triggered when an Ultra was activated, I'm thinking there will be a speed or Iron Wall gem that activates when your opponent does a cross assault. |
Had a match against Rolento as Kuma. Got a weird glitch where Kuma fell through the ground when I did the bear hug. He fell through to his waist but Rolento stayed in place and, with the grabs camera angle, it looked a bit odd.
Kumas snout buried in Rolentos crotch. Not something I wanted to see. Edit: just realised I've had 4 posts in a row. Time to be quiet until someone else posts. |
Ugh. Got really far into mission 20 before losing.
The Mishima one was a bitch too. |
Quote:
So, that's another gem we can look forward to. It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't have infinite meter and spam his Ultra the entire time. |
I've been marathoning the fuck out of some Morrowind, but I will certainly be on deck for this game once the sound patch comes out. I keep putting it off, I know :/
|
Let's play
|
Fine then, fuck you.
Also, fuck Raven and his easy time over victory bullshit. |
I was going to come online to play but I've had just about enough of the game. 99.9% towards just giving up on it completely.
|
Why is that?
|
To keep it short, the game makes no sense.
I jumped over Akuma during his hurricane kick and I get wacked by his leg yet when people jump over Zangief during the lariet, I can't hit them so I'm left spinning for 3 more seconds and unable to stop, totally vulnerable. That's screwed me over a lot. That move should hit those in front of me and behind, just like Akumas hurricane kick should and does. Personally, it feels like they included my style of character but then didn't think about a way to make them useable. People can hit me before I even stand up or "Wake up" attack yet I can't respond in kind. You get far too long to escape my guys grapples. Hell, I was fighting Chun-Li yesterday online and I did Hugos running grab. She was able to avoid it by just walking away. I caught up to her but she was still walking so it didn't register. I've had a lot of fights both on and offline and it seems like my guys moves can be beaten by almost anything. People can juggle me as long as they like but I can't juggle more than 3 hits with my guys before the game refuses to let anything else conect. I still loath the long life obliterating combos everyone but Zangief and Hugo seem to be able to do. So, over all, Zangief and Hugo can't move fast, they can't do huge combos, they can't seem to take as much damage as they should, they can't grab quickly, everything seems to beat all of their moves, they can't attack before people stand up or attack before they themselves stand up, certain moves that should do certain things don't etc. So I'm feeling like I've been hugely let down. If my style is in the game, my style should actually be in with a chance of winning. Instead, players that choose one of the bland angsty twats in the game can throw fireballs or memorise a single long combo to repeat the entire time and win. It's a fighting game that punishes the player that wants to actually fight and rewards the player that wants to spam a move or memorise one single combo. Pandora is useless, Cross Assault is useless, Auto Combo is annoying when it's triggered accidently (I've not got it set to the sticks) and costs me that chunk of EX I was saving for later. The AI is awful. Hardest is not a challenge. The closest it gets is when the AI spams something, which it likes to do. Pyscho crusher over and over before I can stand up, Sonic Boom one after another like they're hadoukens, no charging. Making cheap AI doesn't equal challenging AI. Ranked is everyone picking the same characters are repeating the same combo the entire time. Spamming actually pays off in this game. I could go on and on and on. This actually is the short version. |
Hugo and Zangief are actually top tier in this game. And not in a "pros only" sort of way. I've been much more successful with them here, than I was in previous games.
Especially Hugo. He's got a few really damaging combos that I've not seen you use. Maybe check out some youtube videos. Might even find some for zangief. |
I've read people say that about Hugo but I can't see it myself. Unless it's one of those less obvious things about frames. I don't really follow that stuff.
I'm not really a combo player. I'm more a "Bull in a china shop" kind of player when it comes to fighters. Though, I can do simple combos. I've seen someone do a Hugo combo online. I can't remember it all but it ends with the clap and then the back breaker. |
Well honestly I'm not a combo player myself, I'm also a read and react sort of guy. It can work in this game. Perhaps you're having frustrations with the newer systems, or maybe you should embrace certain things like combos.

The sound fix it out and, after playing a few matches with Fignuts, I'd rather have the sound issue.
Game is now really laggy when I could fight Fignuts lag free, previously. Theres also this slight feeling of latency. Like I'll move and a split second later I move on screen. I'm liking the CGI video. Wonder why they didn't include Guy, Cody & Jack in that trailer. |
Cody, Guy, Jack-X, and Bryan may be highlighted at a later time.
No need to black out, we're all well aware of the DLC characters. |
Better safe than sorry. I'd hate to ruin it if anyone was genuinely trying to avoid things like that.
|
Capcom themselves announced the characters.

Was about to post this.
That Pandora gem, combined with the level 3 strength and speed gems activated by using pandora, could be big trouble. Happy we're getting more colors soon. |
Gonna start picking up some other characters. Looking at Xiaoyu, Jin, Ogre, and Cammy.
|
Xiaoyu's fight intro is ghetto. Bah bah chicken head.
|
Is the Pandora boost a gem? I thought it was just an update.
|
Oh well either way, I expect shenannigans.

THANK GOD. Sick of the 360 pad.
|
Yeah, it is annoying. I have a question. I'm using a pad and I was trying to figure out things to do with Zangief when I've been tagged in via launcher and I was ducking and hitting L.Punch a couple times and then going into a lariet.
When I hit the LP twice and then pressed LB for the Lariet, I did a few more LPs. Why does the game think I'm still hitting LP? I can lariet after the jabs but I have to wait a second. |
That sounds like a buffering issue. There could be safeguards in place that prevent people from doing PPP/KKK moves by mistake and the game could be 'correcting' PPP after jabs into another jab. It may be that you can't cancel jabs into lariat.
You ever did that combo without a hitch before? |
This is in training, btw.
I can do it at times easily but, other times, it thinks I'm still jabbing. I've been trying to come up with combos with my usual team of Z & H, as people keep saying that's more or less what you've got to do in this game. The best I've got so far is a 10 or so hit combo that ends with Hugos Ultra or Super or Cross Art, whatever they call it in this game. I've also figured out a few moves that let me go into Hugos Ultra right after. Zangiefs Ultra is not at all flexible. |
What's your Gem setup with them?
|
Both of them are using 3 strength boost gems each. Including a strength boosts exclusive to the Limited Edition I bought.
|
Do you activate them often?
And would vitality gems be better suited to your problem with combos? These gems combined with damage scaling may mitigate the damage taken, as well as your frustration. Have you experimented with speed gems on those big guys? |
Kalyx, when are you playing this again?
|
I know I've been off for a while. Been getting back into Battlefield 3 and SoulCalibur V. I have played yesterday and I'll be back into the groove going forward.

I've tried those gems that are supposed to reduce damage. They don't do a thing. They might absorb one strike but that's it, then they deactivate. If I don't get hit they last about 20 seconds, though. I've never tried speed gems out on them, no. There is a gem that say "instant replenishment of EX meter +200". I tried it out, activated it and the EX meter didn't replenish instantly at all or even fill quicker when I did a move. I've noticed that from time to time. Certain gems don't seem to do anything and I've had the FAB do damage on both suplexes and the piledriver almost all the time but, on 4 or 5 occasions, the suplexes have not done damage but the piledriver still does. |
Won a handful of matches against Khuntry. He won a lot more.
Still, even a lot of the matches that I lost were relatively close. Probably the best I've ever done against him in this, or in SF4. My Julia and King in particular did pretty well against him. I'm getting good at mixing up julia's offense to create openings, and tagging in king for the big damage. They might end up replacing Juri and Heihachi as my main. I've still got a ways to go before I'm at Khuntry's level, but I did learn a few things this time out, so I'm slowly getting there. |
Not to beat a dead horse, but I reaaaally hope they patch in an unlimited timer for online.
We both won a few time over rounds that could have gone either way. Even when I win, it feels like a hollow victory. Also, a question: Has anyone else picked up new characters, simply because their alternate costumes are fucking awesome? I'm picking up Guile and Cammy, pretty much for that reason. On a related note, I hope we see some alternates from tekken games. Tekken 4 in particular has some fantastic designs. King, Jin, Xiaoyu, Yoshi, Bryan, Lei, Law, Hwoarang, Julia, and Nina all have great attires, that I would buy as alternates for this game. |
Sorry couldn't join. Had an offline training session with a friend.
|
I can think of a couple of costume ideas they could have gone with.
Tag swap costumes, Chun-Li dressed as Cammy and Cammy dressed as Chun-Li etc. The only issue with that might be with the male/female teams. Jin in a dress and Hugo in Daisy Duke shorts. Adjustments would need to be made. It could be cool seeing them dress as each other plus you could have them dress in the same outfit for a real "team" look. Or they could use my earlier animal idea. Ryu as a dragon, Cammy as a cat, Hugo as a rhino(?). Not like Cammys King outfit, Chun-Lis Panda outfit or Zangiefs Kuma outfit but like Bloody Roar. |
Furries?
ew |
I don't get the hate for anthropomorphic characters, these days.
We loved Mickey Mouse, we loved Sonic & Crash Bandicoot but, suddenly, anything that involves an animal acting like a human gets called "Furry" and dismissed as bad. What's it all about? |
I was playing online yesterday and facing a B+ & C+ togethor in ranked. I managed to get the B+ down really low and in a corner. I put in the input for the SPD 3 times and the whole time all I did was move back and forth and jump. Hitting HP did nothing.
Has this always happened or is it because of the update? |
Quote:

Ranked in this game is genuinely infuriating. I shouldn't be fighting people with an A rank that still use assist gems. They need to patch in a "cut off point" for assistance in ranked. So, when you reach, say C or C+, assist gems should no longer work.
In SSFIV, I'd lose a ranked match and it was usually because the guy that beat me was better and I could tell he was just better, of course the game had its spammers and cheap players but, on the whole, it felt "legit" when I lost. The vast majority of my losses in this game just feels like I'm being cheated over and over again. |
And I'm done.
|
Yeah, I stopped playing ranked a while ago. Much more enjoyable with friends.
|
Think I am too but play a few more with me before you quit
|
I'm trading in the game between today and Thursday. I have the LE though so I'm not sure how I go about it.
Do I just take the game and the comic book or do I take the arcade money bank I've already assembled too? |
You return the game when I'm getting back into it. My BP is growing finally.
|
I've not traded it in just yet. It's on my "to do" list.

I should have time this weekend too. Don't have any plans currently, and I finally finished up Morrowind. I'll be fucking awful, but I'm in.
|
Drak, have you tried playing anyone besides grapplers?
|
My Cammy/Ken team is really shaping up. Asuka is even making sense now. I just had to really let loose with the game, I guess. Finally found a rather expensive projectile dodge for Asuka (EX elbow strike). Kinda wish it dodged for free but whatever.
Might get back on Chun Li after some fun offline sessions. |

Seriously, though, I've played as Yoshimitsu, Poison, Sagat and Rolento quite a bit with a bit of Akuma, here and there. Paul once in a while but he's mostly offline. I've played everyone on the SF cast a few times but the names above, along with Zangief & Hugo, are the ones I've played the most. |
Fuck Heihachi. Maining Julia from now on.
|
That works.
|
Nina is joining my stable.
|
Me and Khuntry are having absolute wars.
Where are you, Kalyx? |
Buddy's still on Battlefield 3. Ugh.
|

Nina is fun to use, but she's a bit lacking in certain areas. |
Thinking of getting rid of this
|
Try the new gems first.
|
I'm loving this game. Wish everyone wasn't ditching it.
Roxer, why are you getting rid of it? |
There's a gem combination that can make Cammy a real bitch.
|
Are they out yet? I thought a bunch of new gems were supposed to come out with the costumes, but there aren't any in the store, last I checked.
Also, I'm down for a session right now, if you want to play. |
My bud, as usual, is on Battlefield 3. The new gems are already in there just head to the station. Some new ways to get boosts. A few bullshit ones that invalidate older gems. New assist stuff for the little sisters of the world. Pandora and Cross Assault extenders should be interesting but very costly (a whole gem slot).
|
Oh boy, an extender for cross assault. So it can be utterly useless for another 10 seconds?
I'll probably be on for another couple hours if your friend decides he's done shooting people. |
So is everyone done with this or something?
|
Hell no.
|
Nah, I'm not. Just had other gaming priorities, I guess.
|
Putting some of those new gems to work. Wanna see them in action.
|
Warriors Orochi 3 sidelined me, but I should be around.
|
Sorry I didn't arrive. Was having an unusually hype extended session with my roommate. He's coming to gripes with his Chun/Steve team and I'm making sure Cammy is the biggest bitch ever. We found some interesting uses for Pandora; the extender gem works well and gives you time to lock down a runaway. He found that activating Pandora in response gives him the life buff to defend himself while my time runs out. It was fun.
Asuka's really finding her way, I can't wait to see how she fares against you guys. Nina is so good, I will pick her back in Tekken. She's relentless. Will be online this week for some lobbies if I can. |
New gems and colors are out.
2 sets of gems exclusively for SF characters, and the same for Tekken. One normal set of colors and one special. Special isn't chrome, but this shiny plastic look. Kind of like hakan when he's oiled up. Interesting that when I went to use them, there were actually 8 special colors but I could only access 4. Clicking on the locked one brought me to the pack that I already purchased. Downloading it again didn't unlock it. Hope they fix it because I want the red one. New normal colors are blue, purple, pink, and yellow. All a very slight shade lighter or darker than the ones we already have. Kind of dissapointing, as I was hoping for orange, or a darker red or blue. Or a more vibrant white that doesn't look grey. |
Had a 4plyr session with the roommates. Kalyx/Jazzi beat down D-Rep/Wolf rather convincingly with a Cammy/Nina team. Their Steve/Law team is finding their footing, though.
