WWE recently caught a megaton of a legal break in regards to their longtime controversy surrounding the status of wrestlers as independent contractors.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">BREAKING: NLRB Says Misclassifying Workers Doesn't Violate Federal Labor Law <a href="https://t.co/QqbkkjHetI">https://t.co/QqbkkjHetI</a></p>&mdash; Robert Lavitt (@rlavitt) <a href="https://twitter.com/rlavitt/status/1167166111940407296?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">August 29, 2019</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Between that and the recent court ruling in favor of UFC regarding similar issues, wrestlers lost a lot of legal leverage over WWE and other promotions that follow similar tactics.

I keep waiting for the day when someone prominent brings up Stone Cold's domestic abuse arrests. It NEVER gets mentioned and you think it would nowadays.

Bad News Gertner 09-03-2019 10:38 PM

One of these days someone is going to make a big stink out if it and you'll remember "I heard here first from Iceman King Gertner, reigning King of the Forum and Wrestling Mod"

Emperor Smeat 09-03-2019 11:07 PM

Debra would be the most effective to do it. In terms of PR hit, WWE has way more to lose than Austin if it ever was brought back to the spotlight.

Not only would it bring to light again of their alleged cover-up of Austin's abuses, it would also likely bring to light more of their shady past with female talent. Same for possibly destroying their Women's Revolution/Evolution PR image.

If WWE managed to avoid being involved, they likely would just quietly wait till things cool down again before bringing Austin back in any sort of meaningful role. Already showed that to be the case with Hogan and his N-word controversy.

Bad News Gertner 09-03-2019 11:22 PM

That's what I mean. It's not like he beat some anonymous female. He beat one of the biggest sex symbols in the company during that era. I've been thinking about that for a year or so now. It's literally sitting right there and it's not brought up.

Simple Fan 09-03-2019 11:43 PM

He's was a beer drinking Texan hell raiser. Domestic abuse is like a Wednesday thing.

Emperor Smeat 09-03-2019 11:49 PM

I'd assume its because of the lack of a #MeToo type movement for it unlike with workplace sexual harassment.

Could just be a simple case of the powder keg moment has yet to happen to fuel a lasting movement of that scale or the difference and effectiveness of workplace laws vs. domestic violence laws.

Simple Fan 09-03-2019 11:51 PM

Or that it's in the past and doesn't really matter.

That might happen. Like, well after the time someone prominent brings up Ray Lewis' involvement with a murder yet still being a prominent face of the NFL. Both of those things will take a Lifetime documentary to do any damage, though. That seems to be the way things are handled nowadays.

Ol Dirty Dastard 09-04-2019 09:26 AM

It's true about Austin. And the way Deborah tells the story, at the very least, is pretty fucking bad.

I really want them to have two distinct rosters with zero crossover. There were rumors about unique sets for PPVs as well. Everything seems bland at the moment. They really need to work on it.

According to Squared Circle Sirens, WWE is currently interested in Scarlett Bordeaux and recently gave her a tryout.

SCS also hinted recently that an official announcement for this year's Mae Young Classic tournament is arriving very soon and had hinted at some possible new competitors for it.

Evil Vito 09-04-2019 05:24 PM

Scarlett’s way too hot to not get signed.

slik 09-04-2019 07:40 PM

Scarlet has blonde hair so there is no reason for Vince not to love her

Good on the mic and solid in her gimmick

GD 09-04-2019 08:35 PM

Feel like almost everyone wins the 24/7 title with a rollup.

Bad News Gertner 09-04-2019 08:55 PM

Scarlett instantly becomes the hottest chick in the company.

Even though its not entirely Matt Taven's fault, ROH really needs to ditch his reign and hope a MLW-like revival starts later this month with RUSH winning the belt.

MLW's fortunes spiked this year because crowds have really enjoyed their lucha offerings. Went from barely doing events in big cities to now having Chicago as a hotbed spot and opening up another in Dallas.

Black Widow 09-05-2019 05:47 AM

It's Thursday so where is this huge story that the internet hero said was gonna happen?

Big Vic 09-05-2019 08:10 AM

You sound really excited for it. Just be patient.

Black Widow 09-05-2019 11:19 AM

I actually don't care cause i'm sure it will be underwhelming.

Just like last year there was supposedly some story that was gonna rock the wrestling world but that didn't happen lol.

Poor old Ric, basically pussed away all his money living the gimmick.and getting divorced on a yearly basis. This wont sit well with old Vinnie.

Not posted for a bit but read that Scarlet Bordeaux is getting a try out. If she gets signed I will be back to watching more WWE programming.

Also the Tyler Bate/WALTER match was brilliant, pisses on most stuff I’ve seen on the main brand this year.

In fact, Ric says he escalated the situation to WWE executive, Triple H ... but they still couldn't reach an agreement. So, on August 26, he filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to own the term, The Man, specifically as it relates to pro wrestling.

Should be funny if it goes to Court, wwe will undoubtedly play their standard "we're not wrestling we're sports entertainment" card which is an argument that holds about as much water as a sieve and will get laughed out of Court.

Wwe could always claim Becky is a pre-OP tranny, she already sounds like a man, wouldn't shock me to find out shes stuffing Seth like a Thanksgiving Turkey on a daily basis.

ClockShot 09-05-2019 04:04 PM

I KNEW it was only a matter of time before the Naitch chimes in about this whole Becky Lynch "The Man" thing.

WWE could easily shut him up by putting the brakes on whatever Charlotte's planned for.

Might be more due to him already owning the trademark for the "To be The Man ..." catchphrase and being dragged into a legal mess because of WWE trying to sidestep trademark laws.

WWE already got called out twice recently by the USPTO for trying to pull off similar antics with trademark laws.

So what's the deal with The Man?

Becky Lynch says she's The Man? What's this about?

Personally i'd love to see them having to pay out in court as they weasel their way out of a lot of things, but we all know if that happens they will take it out on his daughter.
