Its kind of funny everyone is talking about Will Ferrell hitting a cheerleader in thd face with a basketball but no one mentioned the cheerleader is TNA knockouts champion Taryn Terell.

TNA cant buy publicity

Bad News Gertner 01-23-2015 11:34 PM

They should come up with a deaf wrestler who think he's a face but does heel things, but can't hear the crowd booing him because he's deaf.

Bad News Gertner 01-23-2015 11:34 PM

I'm extremely high right now

Iike attacking his opponent before the bell.

Fantastic gimmick. I"m sending this in to Vince.

How about a mute wrestler that cant cut promos because he cant talk. They could test the gimmick out on Roman Reigns

Just found out Wildkat Sports now has a working agreement with Pride Premier Wrestling. I like Pride but they are lacking in talent. Wish Wildkat was still working with Powerslam.

They have set replay times during the day of the PPV, and then it's on demand from the following day to watch as often as you like.

loopydate 01-24-2015 06:55 PM

Okay, took a crack at fantasy-booking the Rumble like I did four years ago.

==========

The introductions are made, and it's time to find out who drew #1...

"I'M HERE TO SHOW THE WORLD! I'M HERE TO SHOW THE WOOOOOOORLD!" #1 is DOLPH ZIGGLER. The former World Champion comes to the ring and warms up awaiting his first opponent. The odds are stacked against the recent re-hire. Suddenly, the lights go out in the arena and music that's completely unknown to most of the WWE Universe begins to play. A spotlight finds the stage where some... creature is making its way onto the ramp. As the music swells, it rises to hits hind quarters and as the lights hit it, we realize that this heavily-made-up man is NXT Superstar FINN BALOR! The smart crowd in Philly eats this up.

The two exchange quick counters and strikes early. No one is able to eliminate anyone until the countdown to #3 leads to the arrival of... DANIEL BRYAN! Cole begins to point out the remarkable coincidence of two of The Authority's biggest detractors entering the Rumble in the first three. More exciting back-and-forth between Ziggler, Balor, and Bryan until #4 is revealed to be LUKE HARPER. Balor charges right at Harper, only to eat a sickening big boot. The big man hits a discus clothesline on Ziggler, but eats a running knee from Bryan. D-Bry stands tall as the buzzer sounds for #5.

And it's BAD NEWS BARRETT. Barrett goes right after Bryan, but takes a series of kicks for his trouble. Once he's down on the mat, a recovered Balor comes off the top rope with a double foot stomp. As he lands, though, Harper grabs him and throws him from the ring. The rookie is the Rumble's first casualty. It's Ziggler and Bryan vs. Harper and Barrett as the countdown hits 0 to introduce #6 ERICK ROWAN. Cole continues to point out the obvious conspiracy while JBL says stuff that makes me want to die. Rowan and Harper go straight after each other and brawl. No one is eliminated before we see #7 RUSEV.

Rusev goes right after Bryan, almost as though he was instructed to by some sort of Authority figure. Ziggler and Barrett, Harper and Rowan, and let's add #8 BRAY WYATT. Wyatt, before he ever enters the ring, reaches up and grabs the top rope, low-bridging his former Family members Harper and Rowan, who tumble to the floor together. Meanwhile, in the ring, Rusev has managed to lay out everyone else in the ring and is standing tall as the countdown reaches 0 once more.

"FEED! ME! MORE!" #9 is The Big Guy RYBACK! More conspiracy talk, but it's cut off by Ryback going straight after Rusev. The two brawlers go at it for the full 90 seconds while everybody else rests up. We've hit the 12-minute mark and #10 is... ROMAN REIGNS. Reigns hits the ring and immediately eliminates a charging Barrett. More standard Rumble brawling until it's time for #11, the returning MARK HENRY! Henry goes after Ryback, so apparently he's a heel this time. Henry and Rusev team up to get rid of the Big Guy. The two monsters then toss Ziggler from the ring as well. While he celebrates, Henry is surprised by Rusev, who dumps him to the floor just in time for #12.

And it's R-TRUTH! He slides into the ring, only to be immediately clotheslined to the floor by Rusev. Rusev turns around... right into a spear from Reigns! Reigns gets to his feet and immediately eats the running knee! D-Bry is standing tall. Suddenly, Bray Wyatt, who up to this point hadn't actually entered the ring, grabs Bryan and tries to toss him out. Bryan reverses and sends the psychotic cult leader to the floor instead!

FANDANGO draws lucky #13 and dances his way to the ring. Along the way, he's blasted by a Sister Abigail on the ramp. Wyatt pummels Fandango until he's pulled off by an army of official and ring agents. Fandango never makes it to the ring and is officially declared eliminated from the match. Daniel Bryan, Rusev, and Roman Reigns remain in the ring as GOLDUST enters. Not much happens other than some standard battle royal brawling as we await the half-way point.

#15 is ADRIAN NEVILLE. The former NXT Champion makes his way to the ring. Some quick strikes on Goldust and a Red Arrow later, and the Bizarre One is tossed to the floor. DAMIEN MIZDOW is out at #16, and he eats some kicks from the rookie Neville while Rusev and Reigns brawl and Bryan catches his breath. #17 STARDUST targets Neville immediately to get revenge for his brother's elimination. No eliminations as we await #18.

"ONE OF A KIND!" The Philadelphia crowd erupts as #19 is ROB VAN DAM! RVD hits the ring with some of his trademark offense, kicks and a Rolling Thunder for Mizdow. Mr. Monday Night celebrates as we await the arrival of #19. THE MIZ comes to the ring. He gets in a bit of offense on RVD. RVD gets the advantage, but Mizdow joins in to help. #20 gets another huge ovation as SHEAMUS returns from his recent injury problems. He enters and immediately Brogue Kicks Stardust. Miz charges him, and Sheamus throws him to the floor. He then looks at Mizdow. All action stops as everyone focuses on Mizdow. Mizdow gets a running start and goes to throw himself over as well, only to stop and grab the top rope. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" he yells at Miz, who's furious at ringside. It's short-lived, though, as Sheamus throws Mizdow to the floor as well.

#21 is another return as BO DALLAS enters the match. He and Adrian Neville resume their former NXT rivalry, Rusev and Reigns continue to brawl, Bryan and RVD exchange kicks, and Sheamus and Stardust square off. It's Swaggie Time as JACK SWAGGER enters at #22. The match has hit the half-hour mark now as Swagger goes straight for Rusev. Neville manages to eliminate Dallas. #23 is the Lunatic Fringe DEAN AMBROSE! The crowd erupts as Ambrose enters the ring. He quickly throws Stardust to the floor. Rusev manages to eliminate Swagger, then turns his attention to Neville and eliminates him as well. Rusev is surrounded by babyfaces as the countown hits 0, heralding the arrival of #24...

A stream of pyro heads from above the ring and detonates on the entrance ramp. The Philly crowd explodes once more as The Dudley Boyz make it to the ring, table in tow! BUBBA RAY enters the ring and immediately exchanges punches with Rusev. Bryan and Ambrose square off as do Sheamus and Reigns. Ambrose chills in a corner, waiting to pick his spot as we await #25...

"I HEAR VOICES IN MY HEAD..." The crowd erupts once more as RANDY ORTON comes to the ring. RKO out of nowhere on RVD, who he then throws to the floor. RKO out of nowhere on Sheamus, who he eliminates. RKO out of nowhere for Bubba Ray, who he eliminates. The Viper sets his sights on Rusev as we enter the final five of the match.

#26 is JOEY MERCURY, who unfortunately comes across the Dudley Boyz, who 3D him through the ringside table. The crowd pops big one more time for the Dudleyz. They slide Mercury into the ring where he's pounced upon by the anti-Authority group. #27 is JAMIE NOBLE and Cole returns to conspiracy theory mode. He mentions that three men remain, two of whom we know will be members of the Authority. Noble slides into the ring, then immediately back out, dragging Mercury to the floor with him. He yells at the contingent in the ring. #28 is KANE, who joins J&J on the floor. Bryan, Reigns, Ambrose, and Orton try to goad them into entering the ring, but they know what they're doing. #29 is BIG SHOW. Now that the numbers are on their side, Show, Kane, and J&J enter the ring. It's the Authority and Rusev against Bryan, Reigns, Ambrose, and Orton! The ring is as full of bodies as it's been all night as we await the arrival of #30.

SETH ROLLINS "drew" the last spot in the match after losing in the World Title match earlier in the night. Bryan has now been in the match over 40 minutes, Rusev is at about 35, and Reigns has lasted a half hour. Everyone else is pretty fresh. They break off into pairs now: Rollins vs. Ambrose, Kane vs. Reigns, Big Show vs. Bryan, Rusev vs. Orton, and J&J picking and choosing where they want to get involved. Reigns manages to get rid of Kane, but is immediately double-teamed by Mercury and Noble...and sends THEM to the floor!

Rusev manages to muscle Orton out of the match, and we've got the requisite Royal Rumble monster staredown as Reigns and Rusev square off. Big Show hits Reigns from behind, knocking him into Rusev's arms. Big Show winds up for a WMD, but Reigns dodges and Big Show punches Rusev and sends him out of the ring! Reigns and Ambrose team up to take Show to the floor and we're down to the final four! It's Daniel Bryan and the former members of The Shield: winner goes to WrestleMania!

Rollins realizes that he's badly outnumbered and slides to the floor. Reigns and Ambrose shrug, shake hands, and begin to fight. Bryan gives chase to Rollins on the floor, who slides back into the ring and eliminates his former Shield mates! Ambrose and Reigns are furious, but we're down to two. Bryan and Rollins exchange strikes, but Rollins is a much fresher man at this point. 45+ minutes for Bryan, less than 5 for Rollins.

Soon, Rollins has Bryan on the ropes, but Bryan grabs hold with everything he's got. He finally manages to kick his way free and knocks Rollins to the mat. He goes up top for the headbutt, but Rollins dodges. He sets up for a Curbstomp, but Bryan dodges, then grabs Rollins from behind and sends him to the floor! Daniel Bryan is going to WrestleMania!

<font color=goldenrod>Great post, Loopy! I can't lie, I'd love it if the Authority all entered near the end including Mercury and Noble being in the match.

I normally do a fantasy booking of the Rumble but just couldn't find the motivation this year.</font>

Nicky Fives 01-24-2015 08:02 PM

Sounds like a pretty decent Rumble to me....only forgot the "holy shit" Kofi Kingston avoids elimination spot....

thought this same thing

loopydate 01-24-2015 08:21 PM

I thought about it. I also considered the annual midget comedy spot. But, honestly, I think they're gonna leave Kofi out this year.

Droford 01-24-2015 08:38 PM

Xavier Woods will get the spot. Its a new day

Evil Vito 01-24-2015 08:54 PM

<font color=goldenrod>I can see The New Day collectively coming out and getting one entry, they do the usual odds and evens thing to decide who goes in. Kofi enters and the elimination spot can involve Big E saving him.

But yeah, at this point if they don't have an amazing elimination save spot for Kofi it's better than having him come out to just be another guy who throws a few punches and kicks and then gets thrown out.</font>

Emperor Smeat 01-24-2015 09:55 PM

If Adrian Neville is in the Rumble this year, can easily see him get the signature wacky save spot done instead of Kofi.

Kofi would still get the "skin the cat" moment and close calls but not the big save spot.

Franchise 01-24-2015 10:05 PM

Does anyone think Sting will play a role in determining the winner of the RR?

I don't know some kind of psychological game where after all 30 have come into the ring, the counter appears on the titantron, buzzer goes off and he comes to the ring or distracts the heels causing them to get eliminated?

Dean Ambrose interview from: http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/t...for_being.html

Greatness in bold

Tomorrow, Ambrose competes in the WWE Royal Rumble, taking place at the Wells Fargo Center and airing on pay-per-view, where he will be pit against 29 other wrestlers in a winner-take-all battle.

Ambrose shared some fond Philly memories when he spoke recently with Molly Eichel. He also had some fighting words for his opponents. "I'm going to win the god-d--- Royal Rumble in Philadelphia and probably go celebrate at the same dive bar I used to go celebrate at before and be the same son of a bitch I was then as I am now," Ambrose said. "It was also a strip club."

Q What does Philadephia mean to you in terms of your development?

I got a lot of hometowns. Philly is one of those hometowns for me.

That's the scene where I first really made name and built my reputation as a kind of guy who was willing to go to great lengths to win and perform and to have fun. Anytime I come to Philadelphia, it's cool for me.

I used to go to Flyers games and I would think, "This is a big-ass building." I would sit in the stands and imagine what it would be like to wrestle there, and to actually do it is pretty cool.

If I am going to win the Royal Rumble I wouldn't want it to be anywhere else.

Q Any particularly fond memories?

I was living in Philadelphia when I got signed by WWE. I was sitting there one afternoon, I just woke with a headache or something. I got a call from WWE that I thought was a prank, so I blew it off.

Later in the day, I got more phone calls and I realized they were trying to hire me. It was completely out of the blue. I had figured if it was my career destiny to be an indie cult hero, then so be it.

Q How did working the indie circuit in Philly inform the wrestler you are today?

I was working at CZW, and they were infamous for death matches - violent matches that pushed the boundaries for what is safe or smart or in good taste or whether this is good entertainment - and they just took it as far as possible. It was the perfect place I needed at the perfect time.

I was really starting to understand myself as a personality, characterwise, and learning how to be myself. I was really creatively clicking.

I got to the WWE because my reputation for being the craziest son of a bitch walking the planet.

Q Do you have any strategy for the Royal Rumble?

My plan is to wrap myself in barbed wire, like a mummy, because then no one will want to grab me because they'll risk a serious laceration. If you're going to engage in any kind of an altercation with me, I might get hurt but you're not going to walk away unscarred. There are 29 other guys that are going to get stung.

It's foolproof, right? Or I'll handcuff myself to the post. I plan on being there for a long time.

Q How do you train for a Royal Rumble match? They tend to last a long time. You have to have stamina.

I'll take long, long runs and long bike rides. I'm always training for stamina, anyway, because I'm never going to be the biggest guy or the strongest guy.

I train for endurance and agility. I'm not going to throw 27 people over the rope at one time, but I am prepared to be pounded on for 60 minutes or so.

Q Every time I watch you wrestle, I can't help but think that wrestling in jeans must be pretty uncomfortable.

I found a pretty good brand of jeans, called Joe's Jeans, that are light and stretchy. I wear to the building the same thing I wrestle in, and then change later into the exact same outfit.

It dawned on me that wrestling trunks are outdated. Like, Pat O'Connor had to the wear them in the '40s, but now we're running around the building, we're going through tables, we're getting hit by tables. Anything can happen in a WWE match today. People are coming in from the back and attacking someone in their underwear.

Imagine you are in a bar and you get into an altercation and you are like, "OK, let's take this outside. Take off your pants. Let's go."

Also that Ambrose interview is gold.

Instant favorite to win.

Today's dirtsheets presented by Mr. "Never Was Eliminated" Curtis Axel demanding the right to point at the Mania sign

Quote:

Regarding Daniel Bryan possibly being put into a three-way at WrestleMania 31 due to the heat from fans over his Royal Rumble elimination last night, F4WOnline reports that word from backstage at the Rumble is that will not be happening.

Word coming out of the Rumble is that Vince feels putting Bryan into another three-way would be a repeat and that they would be "going to the well" too many times.

WWE officials expected the backlash over Bryan's elimination but were surprised at the level of it. Due to the atmosphere in the building before the Rumble match even began, officials panicked early in the show and moved some things around.
Quote:

We received a fan report from reader Barjinder Parhar that said a group of fans blocked the back parking lot at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia after last night's pay-per-view and wouldn't let some of the wrestlers exit. It was noted that fans were upset over Roman Reigns winning and Reigns was spotted leaving around 12:15am EST. Fans were described as "livid" outside of the arena. Barjinder noted that The Usos were very angry and one of them got out of their car and "went off" on a group of fans. The same group chanted "When ya'll say MOVE we say NO."
Quote:

While Bubba Ray Dudley made his return to WWE in last night's 30-man Royal Rumble main event, his partner Devon was not backstage.

Bubba's return last night was said to be a one-shot deal but WWE officials are open to bringing him back and it was noted that his status could change. Mysteriously many tables were left broken in the backstage area.
Quote:

As noted, Randy Orton was in the Northeast last night but did not make his return, despite being advertised, at the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Orton was actually backstage, oiled up and dressed to wrestle and ready to go but his return being delayed again was said to be a storyline decision.

Former NWA Champion Adam Pearce revealed on Twitter that he has been hired by WWE. Pearce has worked as an agent and trainer several times for NXT in the past year. He tweeted:

Dreams become reality through hard work. Hard work don't do itself. #halflife3please

As noted last night, the WWE Network cancellation page crashed last night after the Royal Rumble. The phrase "#CancelWWENetwork" was also the number one trend on Twitter at one point last night, and it is still trending. Time.com has an article here about the "Cancel WWE Network" movement.

There's a feeling within WWE that much of the buzz is just fans voicing their anger over how the Rumble pay-per-view played out, specifically Daniel Bryan's elimination and the 30-man main event.

Sources also indicated that while there were some issues with buffering during the WWE Network stream of the Rumble, there was no outage on WWE's side and the issues were not widespread. There may have been a more localized problem causing issues that had nothing to do with WWE's end.

In terms of stock backlash, WWE's stock only dropped by around 4 cents at today's closure. Started off around 20-30 cents higher than Friday's end but lost all of that plus the extra 4 cents.

Loved the first ten seconds or so of Justin Gabriel's theme...

Also, loved all of his work with Tyson Kidd over the years.

Also, loved him when he first debuted as part of The Nexus... remember thinking he looked very "sinister" when he would perch on the top rope and look around "menacingly" for 30 seconds before actually hitting the 450 splash.

Larry Winters, a Philadelphia-area independent wrestling standout for Joel Goodhart's Tri-State Wrestling Alliance and Tod Gordon's ECW passed away earlier today. We don't have full details but the word that has made the rounds is that he suffered a heart attack.

Winters was best known in the Philadelphia area as a regular for the TWA, but prior to that, did wrestle in enhancement roles on TV for Verne Gagne's AWA, Puerto Rico's WWC and Jim Crockett Promotions. In the late 1980s into the 1990s, however, the rise of what would eventually become the independent scene truly began. With WWF going national and the territories dying out one by one, that opened up a vacuum for promoters to start running smaller towns and even smaller venues in larger areas.

In the Northeast, one of the primary promotions of that era was the National Wrestling Federation, which featured Winters feuding with D.C. Drake over the NWF championship as one of the cornerstones of the promotion. While the WWF began focusing on caricature characters and appealing to families, the NWF pushed violence with all sorts of brawls, dog collar matches and cage matches. The promotion ran on a regular basis in the New Jersey-Pennsylvania area and even had local TV but was pretty much funded by "sold shows" where the venue or organization buys the show outright and then makes money on how much they get at the door. Over time, those backers and opportunities began to dry up and with that came the end of the NWF.

It was not, however, the end of Winters vs. Drake.

By 1990, Joel Goodhart formed and ran the Tri-State Wrestling Alliance, which ran the Philly market regularly based off the power of Goodhart's radio show and became one of the first promotions trying specifically to market to the hardcore, die-hard, insider wrestling fans, that gave Winters his first real "home" promotion.

Winters vs. Drake migrated to TWA with all sorts of stipulation bouts including stretcher matches and dog collar matches. TWA was built around having four quarterly super-shows at the PA Convention Center with all sorts of names, from Abdullah the Butcher to Owen Hart to Steve Williams and so forth, that would appeal to hardcore, blue-collar wrestling fans on top in dream matches and regular storylines using the locals underneath, often mixed in with more nationally known names to give them a bit of a rub.

At the same time, Winters was also the trainer at Goodhart's wrestling school, training the likes of future ECW icon The Sandman and perennial ECW lower card favorite Don E. Allen.

Winters and Johnny Hotbody would go on to win the TWA Tag Team championships but by end of 1991, the TWA would announce that it was closing with promoter Goodhart disappearing into the night and fans left waiting out in the cold for a show scheduled to be headlined by Buddy Rogers vs. Buddy Landell. It would have been Rogers' final bout, but never came to be. The TWA was gone.

In it's place came the original ECW in it's earliest permutation, Eastern Championship Wrestling. Founder Tod Gordon, who had been a backer at times for Goodhart and a long-time wrestling fan, decided following a meeting with Winters and future ECW ring announcer Bob Artese that they would launch a new company out of the ashes of Tri-State, even using the same championship belts (now repainted).

Winters was tapped as the first booker of the company, but wouldn't last long in the role. At the time, ECW was a little gritter then your average indy promotion but still only ran on a semi-regular basis, bringing in names like Davey Boy Smith, Ivan Koloff, Jimmy Snuka and even Terry Taylor to provide some name value and substance to the average fan while the remnants of the TWA roster provided the glue and the majority of the action.

While Winters was the first booker, he wouldn't last long in the role. Gordon, upset with angle booked by Winters that led to JT Smith being painted white by Winters and Johnny Hotbody, removed Winters from the position. The approved angle was that Smith's partner D.C. Drake was supposed to be painted black as well. The black paint somehow never came into play and Gordon, with heavy ties to the Philadelphia chapter of the Variety Club charity, was done with Winters as a booker, upset with the obvious racial overtones.

Winters was replaced by Gordon himself before Eddie Gilbert was brought in when the company debuted on Sportschannel Philadelphia. In time, Gilbert too, was replaced by Paul Heyman.

Winters remained with the company as a wrestler and appeared on many ECW cards in the early 1990s, often teaming with Hotbody, including a run with the ECW Tag Team championships. Hotbody evenutally turned on Winters and the two faced off at the first major ECW supercard in the ECW Arena, the Super Summer Sizzler Spectacular. His influence and placement on the cards, however, slowly slide downward.

Over time, however, as Paul Heyman began bringing in his own crew of fresher, younger talents and found the right mix and vibe for what would eventually become Extreme Championship Wrestling, the old TWA guard were gone, one by one. Winters, like Tony Stetson, Johnny Hotbody and others, were replaced by Taz, Sabu, Tommy Dreamer and others. In the end, only JT Smith and The Sandman remained before Sandman was last man standing. The Goodhart era had laid the foundation and now the Heyman era was building the house. Nothing lasts forever, especially in pro wrestling.

Winters quietly faded away, although in the early 2000s, began making some appearances on the Philadelphia indy scene again for groups like the now-defunct Pro Wrestling Unplugged, billed as "The Living Legend", in part to play off of matches with Larry Zbsyzko in the AWA and Zbyszko using the same nickname, but also as a show of respect for Winters' part in the earliest era of independent Philly wrestling.

When several TWA reunion shows were booked in New Jersey, Winters was among the roster that returned, defeating former TWA regular Jimmy Jannetty. Johnny Hotbody was in his corner. The TWA shows eventually ran their course and once again, Winters quietly disappeared from the business.

In some ways, Winters' legacy will have been training The Sandman, who went on to become the most famous TWA roster member of all time, evolving into a legitimate draw and star in ECW as well as having runs in WCW and WWE. But, there was a time where fans in the Northeast knew that brawls and blood meant D.C. Drake vs. Larry Winters was on the card, and those matches weren't going to let them down - and that too, should be the legacy Winters is remembered for in the business.

From the Observer about some possible changes and plans for Mania:

Quote:

Lesnar vs. Reigns and HHH vs. Sting are the only locked in stone matches for Mania, but Cena vs. Rusev was planned, and the heavy Wyatt protection leads one to believe Undertaker is coming back. Also planned was Orton vs. Rollins, so Bryan was not even figured into the top five matches on the show. We were flat out told there was no chance of Bryan being added and making it a three-way, because Vince McMahon felt that already was done last year. Bryan and Ziggler set up a match on Twitter, and that wasn’t fooling around, but the actual plan, so that’s the top six right there. That lets them be happy because they’ll have a shot at having the best match on the show if they don’t have their time sliced. Throw in the Battle Royal, a Divas match and you may get a tag title or something else but that’s pretty much the top of the card.
Observer also had a report on how the WWE is still stubbornly refusing to see Bryan's status as anything huge or mega-star worthy. Also the recent 1 million sub numbers for the Network includes those who cancelled and February being a free month is to inflate the numbers for the official report in early February.
