Also, they would do good to rip off the Decapitation Elbow. It looks better than the Fall of Man, and it's based on what they do, not how the guy takes it.

I don't even mind the names Connor and Viktor. It just seems like they're big, bad monsterous guys, with dark, gothic gimmicks, they growl and grunt and they're gonna kill whoever's in the ring, and then they get on the mic and they compare themselves to the Road Warriors. It makes them sound like high-school drama teens.

Vastardikai 01-20-2015 11:44 AM

I put it like this. You're in the back of an office, doing whatever. A coworker comes in and says "Some dude named Konnor is here saying you owe his boss money." You'd come out expecting a guy who looks like, at worst, a bro.

Same situation, but a coworker comes in and says "Some dude named Ax is here saying you owe his boss money." You're not going to come out at all.

They shouldn't have mentioned the Road Warriors at all. Whoever told them to do that should be fired. However, if they absolutely HAD to mention them you could do it as a way of "Road Warriors were the toughest team of their time. But this is our time. And if you thought they were bad... you ain't seen nothing yet!"

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-20-2015 11:46 AM

It all depends on how you say the name. Bryon Saxton was able to say KONNOR with it sounding bad ass. Shut up about his fucking name.

Rammsteinmad 01-20-2015 12:56 PM

They also have fucking badass music! Their music is the kinda music that should randomly interrupt people like it did on Raw, and the instant reaction is that "holy shit, someone's gonna get fucked up".

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/AXZ6NyTNtS4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Instead their fucking awesomely badass theme hits, they come out looking like jacked up monsters ready to totally annihilate whoever's in the ring with absolutely no nonsense, and their attire is totally like some Egyptian-God-Worshipping cult who's gonna fucking rip you apart all in the name of Anubis or something crazy.

And then it's like "... we're the best team ever!!!".

Just another one of those examples where WWE completely and utterly baffles. Ascension were the most dominant team in NXT since the beginning, yet they appear on Raw and some genius in the back has totally decided to go a different direction with them than what got them over.

XL 01-20-2015 01:34 PM

They should change their names to Rip & Shred. That might make them more palatable to Vas.

Konnor and Viktor are fine! I'd understand Vastardikai if they were called Steve and Mike.

Lock Jaw 01-20-2015 03:29 PM

Never happened on NXT, but past two weeks on WWE television, I keep thinking that CM Punk is coming out when I hear the initial screech of the song....

I surprised we aren't talking about HHH's consoling of a kid he upset on Raw, giving him free merch, and then taking him backstage after the show to meet the wrestlers. I'd find the pics and post them, but I'm in my phone and can't be assed.

Lock Jaw 01-20-2015 05:41 PM

All I knew about was the consoling part. Pretty awesome the other bits.

I wasn't being facetious. Well, not much. I kinda liked their "Born and bred to rip and shred" line, it'd work on a tshirt and it'd also work as names in the vein of Ax and Smash (and Krush).

Nope

Santino should have gone to WrestleMania. Twice, actually.

Matt Hardy Vs. Edge.

Oh shit.

Emperor Smeat 01-20-2015 10:23 PM

Not sure if it counts as irony but WWE stocks came very close to closing out the day on the low, low price of 9.99.

The same price the WWE has been touting as an amazing valve for the WWE Network and ridiculing people who pay more for their own ppvs.

http://i.imgur.com/cZXq7gY.png

According to NeoGAF, today was a year-low for the stocks.

Vastardikai 01-20-2015 10:24 PM

The feud was meant to make a star (and could have easily made two, but Vince was oblivious the crowd's reactions to Hardy the Lesser.).

And it worked. It actually did more for Edge than them putting him over Benoit, Kane, and Shawn Michaels did.

It's a great line, without a shadow of a doubt.

I just want a consistent presentation, more than anything else. It's too much to ask from WWE creative, I know...

5 moves I'm glad Cena isn't using.

Spear
Inverted suplex
Full nelson
Piledriver
Texas Clover Leaf

Thinking of making this its own thread. Dunno.

Rammsteinmad 01-21-2015 04:26 AM

"Inverted Suplex".

Isn't every move that's not a standard vertical suplex called an inverted suplex these days?

So many people on the roster, I still see little reason to not expand the Royal Rumble to 40 or even 50 men.... 2-3 normal matches on the card, then 2/3 of the PPV for the Rumble itself....

If anyone is interested, WWE recently gave the Bleacher Report an inside look at Creative with Bryan's Road to Mania storyline as the feature piece given.

Does have some usual WWE BS/fluff at certain points like how they were always completely behind Bryan or implying Bastista winning the Rumble was never really about pushing Batista. Even has a small dig at Punk implying he was the roadblock to Triple H vs Bryan at Mania.

Quote:

Spanning more than eight months, Daniel Bryan's struggle to the top and ultimate triumph is one of the greatest storylines in WWE history. And it was one that almost didn't happen, rescued from the abyss by chance, circumstance and, most of all, the fans.

WWE granted Bleacher Report unprecedented access into its normally closed world, detailing how a story like this makes it from the writer's room to the board room and finally into the ring.

Looks like NXT is going to have another TakeOver in February instead of around WrestleMania time. So, I guess they will just have to steal the show from Fast Lane.

I'd leave it at 30 men, but there is absolutely no reason that you should not have an awesome card outside the Rumble Match itself, making for an overall great and memorable PPV start to the calendar year.

You have the Rumble, then you obviously have a WWE World Title match, a Divas Title match, a Tag Title match, and either an IC or US Title match (I like the idea of at least one champion defending their belt on the show). Throw it one personal grudge match, and you could have a PPV for the ages.

Mr. Nerfect 01-22-2015 05:36 AM

I know people like the old-school feel of NXT only running shows every quarter, but I really feel like they could be doing one a month and really making the Network worth something.

Some of those are just crazy. And not having HHH on best interview, but having Daniel Bryan in the honourable mentions is the funniest thing I've read all week. Is this list written by the same people who believe Hulk Hogan did nothing for professional wrestling, and single handily killed it with the booking of his own character?

drave 01-22-2015 03:07 PM

Also funny that AJ Styles is so heavily rated especially with his finisher fucking up the careers of multiple people.

Fuck yes it is. Laying out everything from flower configurations, to music (I have THE best music planned), to food, and more. Thankfully I have someone organised to conduct it, he's registered to do so and is a good friend. His wife did Mikala and mines wedding too. But yeah, it really makes you think about your mortality when you're doing it, but I'd recommend anybody who feels they're strong enough to do the same, to do it. You can really have things how you'd like it by doing so.

Hell, thinking that I have (statistically) lived about half of my life is pretty fucking mind blowing at times. I am somewhat curious about life and death though. I am constantly wondering about "large scale" shit like that because it intrigues me.

I also credit the constant thinking on that subject to my more relaxed attitude than that of previous years. Just have fun as much as possible and cruise through the day. Work has fucked me off lately and before I thought like I do now, I would have probably been fired/arrested for doing some stupid shit.

I will plan mine simply to lessen the burden on my wife and children. My wife is going to be a wreck when my time comes.

I know that feeling. Mikala is going to be wrecked, and Sarah, my ex, won't be much better. So neither of them would have been any good in trying to organise, plus they may have butted heads on a couple of things as there are things I'd like done that only Mikala knew about before I booked it. It may even be live streamed, so Downunder will be given the link to share to everybody when the time comes for those who'd like to watch it.

Gonna leave is convo out of this thread now, we're kinda ruining it haha.

It was noted that this season will have a different format than previous Tough Enough seasons. We do know that the new season will have some live elements to it. There's also no word yet on who the Tough Enough coaches will be. Bill DeMott indicated on Twitter that he will be on the show but that's all we've heard. WWE had planned for Steve Austin to host the Tough Enough show they wanted to film in 2014 but his name has not been attached to this new season yet.

Also confirmed for the pre-show is The New Day vs. Cesaro, Tyson Kidd and Adam Rose in an elimination match. Former WWE Diva/TNA Knockout Lisa Marie Varon (aka Victoria/Tara in WWE/TNA) was the guest on Jim Ross' latest podcast.

While discussing her time in TNA, Marie told Ross that she once spent $6,000 of her own money to promote a show they were going to do in Chicago and did a lot of promotion for the show without being asked to do. She noted that when she was sent posters for the show, they didn't feature her (a local celebrity) but instead another woman featured on the show.

When she spoke with Dixie Carter about all the things she did to help the company, all Dixie said was, "Yeah, I heard".

Later on, Marie stated that two people from the TNA offices sent an email to the roster telling them to promote another pizza place in the area (Varon owns the Squared Circle restaurant in Chicago) as the best pizza they've ever had.

Varon said that when she found out about it, she blew up and told Bruce Prichard, "The day I quit my job, I am going to punch that c*** in the face", referring to Dixie. Prichard, Varon says, responded, "You'll be doing all of us a favor."

Varon also noted the company was disorganized to the point she once learned she was booked to appear on a PPV when it was announced on Twitter, but had no travel information for the show and hadn't even been informed she was booked.

Other sheet news includes ROH considering dropping their iPPV model due to lower than expected buys recently and them believing the WWE Network lowered the value of PPVs ever since its launch.

I've watched them all, and they're all really good. Unlike the Monday Night Wars stuff that became mostly 60% retread, Rivalries has stayed pretty consistently great.

I really wish they'd do more stuff like that. The Legends roundtable stuff is my jam, and it's really disappointing that they haven't done any new ones since before the Network launched.

The old show on-demand library is great and all, but the original content going to be the best selling point.

The Wrestling Observer’s Wrestler of the Year, and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Intercontinental champion, Shinsuke “SWAGSUKE” Nakamura has branched out from pro graps to music video domination. He’s teamed up with TEMPURA KIDZ, an adorable collection of Japanese kids. The girls are dressed up like High Energy, while the lone boy is a mini-Shinsuke, except with a mascot head. It’s all pretty amazing.

One being a long running gag where someone lost something, and they're asking where "It" is. They see Cesaro, then just pass him by without even asking. This happens for a couple weeks until he gets mad and grabs someone by the collar, like "why aren't you asking me where 'it' is?"

It leads to the punchline of "We know you don't have 'It.'"
