Damn, gonna be a big summer for fighting games.

Fighting Ex Layer and Blazblue Cross Tag Battle both releasing in June, with Blade Strangers later this summer.

More DLC characters releasing for DBZ and Street Fighter 5

Likely an announcement for Mortal Kombat 11

Fignuts 05-16-2018 05:58 AM

Not to mention all the fighting games I haven't played in a while that want to get more time with like Killer Instinct, Injustice 2, Tekken 7, KOF 14...

Too many fighting games.....hellish

Fignuts 05-16-2018 05:58 AM

Never have time for them all.

So bleak.

Kalyx triaD 05-16-2018 08:25 AM

SoulCalibur. VI.

Fignuts 05-16-2018 12:48 PM

Don't think that's releasing this summer.

Fignuts 05-17-2018 02:15 AM

Fucking god damn 2 of the 3 strikes in Destiny Warmind are just story missions from the campaign, with the one original strike being a timed exclusive on ps4.

Could Bungie please just stop being cunts? Just for a little while?

ClockShot 05-17-2018 05:39 AM

Mmmmmmmhmmmmmmmm.

I ain't going back to that anytime soon. Still regretting that $70 I spent during Black Friday. :nono:

At this point Bungie needs to scrap everything they're going by and start from scratch if they're even thinking about Destiny 3.

Fignuts 05-17-2018 06:07 AM

They have to make a true sequel if Destiny 3 is going to succeed. Not another Destiny 1.5

It has to have something that really shakes things up like Sspaceship combat or something.

Beyond that, they need to make it more rewarding to play. Which is something they could still do with Destiny 2. The game actually did a great job of adding more activities to partake in, than the first game. The problem is once you get to the end game (where you're going to spend most of your time) theres no point in doing any of them. You've got a handful of things you can do once a week to get luminous engrams, and then you're done. You're not progressing at all until next week.

Give people a reason to do all this stuff. Give every activity on every planet a unique armor set or weapons with valuable perks. Adventure missions, patrols, lost sectors, fucking all of it. Give your contacts on each planet ornament sets for the special armor and weapons they provide. Do that and add new stuff each season and that's how you get people to stay and keep playing the game.

On paper, that may seem like asking a lot compared to what they've done. But other games that are all about end game grinding take a similar approach. Games like Diablo 3, ESO, and Final Fantasy 14 remain so popular because they're constantly adding more content and making all the activities in their game worth the player's time.

I don't know why Bungie has been unable to produce enough content to keep people playing, but they are going to need to step it the fuck up. The big fall expansion will likely bring some people back, similar to the Taken King, but if the franchise is going to survive, they are going to have to reevaluate everything for Destiny 3. They're going to have to knock it out of the park, and what they're doing now isn't going to cut it.

Kalyx triaD 05-17-2018 08:12 AM

Yeah that's not happening a lot of people in high positions step down. Even outside of the end game Destiny has an album of baffling decisions that can't possibly have sound good on paper. And they have a habit of developing a fuck ton of useless content; large environments filled with dead space, every piece of gear from white to blue is useless (million ways they could spawn weapon materials), Farm has no exclusive vendor, ships are basically loading screen flair, and some of the most interesting environments are exclusive to campaign whereas they could be a Patrol map (the city of the final stage).

People wonder where the budget went, it went there. All that crap has to be fully modeled and detailed and high def to be seen ONCE ever in some cases. Had they found a way to repurpose assets already in-game they could solve a lot of longevity issues. Imagine a blue chest piece you can Infuse into a purple? That right there would validate tons of gear and allow more visual options for players. Same with guns.

Masterwork cores are needed to re-roll Masterwork gear. How do you get Cores? Masterwork gear drops. Why not have Cores drop themselves for certain activities? Nobody knows. There's something very strange about Bungie's design culture that is reminiscent of somebody or somebodies never being told 'no' or challenged about their ideas.

I hate when companies say a pre-rendered video is a "reveal". Even if that is legit graphics, it told us diddly squat about the game.

Also, why does that chick have a robo-arm in WWII?

Fignuts 05-23-2018 07:11 PM

Don't think it's a robo arm. Just a very elaborate prosthetic.

That would be cool though, now that I think of it. Make it an alternate history game where aliens invade during WWII, and have a mixture of period specific and sci fi weaponry and vehicles. Maybe even some that combine the two.

Would be a hell of a lot more interesting than WWII. Again.

In a bit of eyebrow-raising news, the Korean gaming board has given a rating to a potential Borderlands Remaster for PC/PS4/XB1.

I know we've only recently had a discussion on all the games in the series, but this would include also all the GotY DLCs along with the main game of BL1, and if this proves true, I'd definitely grab it.

I get the feeling that if something does come of this news, we could potentially see a release on or around the 10th anniversary of the game next year or maybe we'll see it included as part of a special pre-order bonus with BL3.

I anxiously await further developments.

No, gaming is not gonna be stream based in the next generation or the one after that. These are the thoughts of somebody ignorant of the importance of feedback. Nobody is playing street fighter or a shooter through streaming. Not unless the input lag is non-existent.

I really hate videogame futurists. They all talk mad, fantasy shit that never happens. The future tends to be common sense advances that don't disrupt how people play games now.

Sepholio 06-09-2018 12:03 AM

Sepholio 06-09-2018 07:30 PM

Uhg EA announces game streaming service. Everyone talking about having streaming services will negate the need for expensive hardware. I'm sitting here like....all the different subs you'll have plus the cost of higher speed internet to support streaming in high quality will quickly surpass the cost of the console/PC. Plus when they go out of business or decide to turn off streaming of whatever game, you lose it forever.

F. That.

Should have known the retards at EA would do this.

Yep. That is the future, not this streaming shit. Paying a fee for a whole library of games will become extremely attractive by next generation. Particularly when one of the big three makes a 1st party game exclusive to the service. If it's a big enough game, that's a wrap on conventional 1st party releases.

Destor 06-09-2018 09:01 PM

Next gen is right around the corner. We arent switching from physical in the next 3 years

Emperor Smeat 06-09-2018 10:03 PM

Could be doable but really depends on how long the next gen lasts. Even then its probably at least 2 gens away instead of 1.

If the next gen has 2 upgrade phases and is more hybrid-like, that would create the time and bridge needed for the gen afterwards to be download-only. The download-only gen then bridges into the cloud/streaming gen. At that point, you'd be into the 2030s and enough time has passed for all the groundwork to be done and ready.

Frank Drebin 06-10-2018 02:53 PM

I have a piece of music from a PS1 game in my head and I wanted to listen to it but it's nowhere to be found on the Internet, although the OST's of the game's two sequels are to be found everywhere, which is frustrating.

Anyways, because of all this, I was thinking of just buying the game myself as I've found it going for only 50p and then ripping the audio from it and then uploading it to the Internet, so other people like me can avoid the frustration I'm going through if they ever want to listen to the game's music.

The only problem is that I'm unsure about how to go about actually ripping the audio from games. I remember finding out that some programmes on the internet won't necessarily work with all PS1 games and some won't rip PSF files, or something like that.

So if anyone here knows a quick and easy way to rip music from a PS1 game, then I'd be very grateful.

I'd be even more grateful if you could point me into the direction of the game's OST if it's already been uploaded to the Internet.

The game is....

3) SALES:

Fignuts 07-10-2018 07:43 PM

I mean....20-30 Indy games a week would be great if they were GOOD titles.

As it is, it looks like a recipe to turn their shop into a shovelware dumpster fire.

Destor 07-10-2018 08:44 PM

Same thing that killed the Wii. No quality control.

Emperor Smeat 07-10-2018 10:12 PM

Wii died off because the major 3rd parties never put a similar level of investment or effort that they did for the Xbox 360 (and later PS3). Had they did, at worst Wii's library would have been similar to the PS2 in terms of a lot of games but a steady supply of quality ones to offset the amount of shovelware. 3rd parties jumped late to the Wii and then left just as quickly in terms of quality support.

Right now seems Nintendo's current strategy with the Switch is focusing on Nintendo + Indies combo and have some big third party games cover gaps. Until their historical issues with 3rd parties end, they pretty much need to rely on indies to to prevent major droughts from happening again. Steam being terrible in recent years and Sony dropping the ball with indies support ended up making this possible for Nintendo.

Destor 07-10-2018 10:44 PM

Completely disagree. Nintendo courted a casual market of non gamers that had never heard of any of the 3rd party developers. Nursing homes had the wii. But a flood of subpar shovelware games eroded the brand and lost this new market altogether.

Emperor Smeat 07-10-2018 11:07 PM

Yeah the Blue Ocean strategy worked well for the Wii till 2009/2010 but Nintendo still mixed in enough of their regular games with their casual offerings. Its the major third parties that either showed very little support to begin with (ex. Rockstar) or completely misread the market (ex. EA, THQ) which is why their output suffered in the long run. Even Capcom and Take Two were hit-or-miss when it came to support.

Activision and Ubisoft were probably the only big 3rd party studios that kept a decent balance so they got the best of both markets (casuals & hardcore). Even then, both showed way more constant effort when it came to the Xbox 360 and PS3 besides tech reasons.

PS2 and PS1 libraries were just as bloated with shovelware like the Wii but Sony never had to deal with the same issues Nintendo had when it came to major 3rd party support even during the early PS3 years when things were really dire for them.
