People don't really think there will be some overt regulation on DLC pricing? Jesus.
|
Between this and the Mass Effect 3 bullshit, gamers been showing their ass lately.
|
If it's on-disc and you're calling it DLC, you're lying.
|
Sure.

Harmmonix announces Rock Band Blitz for the PSN and XBLA. Essentially, it's the return of Amplitude/Frequency. Comes with 25 songs, and is compatible with the library of Rock Band songs. I am incredibly psyched for this.

Yeah, instant buy for me.

SOCOM holds a special place in my gaming heart. Probably the first game most of us played for our first online console experience.
It went downhill after combined assault. And hasn't gotten any better since. Smart decision to end it. |
Did they end it?
|
Zipper got closed down, yes. SOCOM 4 was the last game made. Slant 6 made SOCOM Confrontation, the infamous online only game. And even that wasn't great.
Dunno if the rights are up for sale. |
Wouldn't think they are. If Sony has the ability to close the studio it's safe to assume they also own the rights to the studio's games. Which basically means give it a year or two and there'll be a new SOCOM by a new developer

Might be the third time the series has been rebooted but Double Dragon once again will be having a reboot made to the series.
WayForward studios announces they are working on a reboot of Double Dragon and it will be a downloadable title for Xbox Live Arcade and PSN. Majecso will be the publisher and is currently helping with the funding of the project. The game will be called "Double Dragon Neon" and currently has a Summer 2012 release date. Based on screens shown off so far, the visuals create a 1980s Vice City feel to the game. Quote:

The game is rumroed to be titled as "Concept Grand Prix" and have its debut during this year's E3 convention. http://www.dualpixels.com/profiles/b...ource=activity |
I could go for a new Double Dragon if it's good.
Isn't the Playstation all-Star rumour one we've seen before, by roughly the same name? |
The rumor occurred before but I think this is the first time the potential name was hinted at. I think it might have been the same source as well (Playstation blog).

Waiting for Rock Band Ossman.

That DD screen shot looks like wii shovelware garbage.
I'd bet money that Streets of Rage or any of the Konami beat-em-ups will be a far better purchase than this. |

So, unless the PS3 has had an explosion of colourful characters that I've never heard of, I'm not sure it'll be able to compete with SB in terms of roster quality and other "fan services". I'm willing to bet that Sony will try and pass the game off like it's a whole new idea that's never ever been done before. They do that with pretty much everything. |
Yeah, not to mention sony's characters aren't anywhere near as iconic and endearing as Nintendo's.
|
I guess they could have Sir Fortesque from Medieval. If Crash was still exclusive and as big as he used to be, he could have been in it.
They don't really have anything else, though. I can't think of any "landmark" stages they could use or any peices of Music that would be good to hear, like the Crash Bandicoot theme or the Ape Escape theme. |
Unless they use characters from third party exclusives from all three Playstations, roster is gonna suck.

I remember a rumour on Kotaku saying Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal would be in. So, that should tell us what vibe they're going for.
The appeal of SB was seeing these colourful characters from your childhood all togethor in what would eventually become a sort of "celebration" of Nintendo with nostalgic characters, stages and music. Sony can go with an adult tone if they want but it wont be able to replicate what Nintendo could do with SB because they don't have the childhood history that Nintendo or a similar company like Disney or SEGA would have. Plus, as we've already said, they don't exactly have a huge list of memorable characters. The ones I remember and like are the colourful ones. Crash, Spyro, Fortesque, Sackboy and Ape Escape kid. I don't know any others and Crash and Spyro aren't exclusive anymore and Crash is pretty washed up. I guess Jak and Daxter could be put into the roster. |
Just noticed I misread your post. I thought you said they ARE going for an adult tone. Now I see you're saying you think they might.
My previous post might not be as relevant then. |

I mean, would it really shock you to see Sony miss the point? :p |
During the MIT Business in Gaming conference, the CEO from Take Two, Strauss Zelnick, doesn't believe THQ will last beyond this year with his projection being around 6 months.
He compared THQ's current financial strategy to the one current used by Take Two as a way to explain why THQ was "floundering" while Take Two was more successful this year. His main argument was in regards to THQ's poor handling with licensed properties stating they had too much money and resources tied into these properties. If the games improved, the fees would rise during the next time contracts had to be renewed. If those same games bombed in sales, THQ wouldn't be able to recover development costs for those games. Both would lead to less revenue margins in the long run. Since Take Two barely has any licensed properties, they have less money being spent on non-gaming stuff which in return frees up the money for development of other games. Quote:

I think that's supposed to be Abobo at the end. |
Terrible.

I think that they'll misread the poor sales of this.
Rather than think "This remake must have sucked". They'll maybe think "No one wants Double Dragon anymore.". |
Looks as bad as the Turtles 4 remake.
