He looks kinda like grizzled Adam West. Like, if the West version of Batman had to deal with Heath Ledger joker, this what'd he look like.

mitchables 04-29-2019 10:18 PM

that's not a photo of him in any upcoming titans or anything btw; that's from a show called cleverman, but i posted it mostly because most people would only be familiar with him as scruffy and super-dirty-lookin' as jorah, whereas he actually scrubs up quite well when he shaves and dons a suit.

and i know that pic of bruce is from batman beyond/is thus a bit older than he should be in 'contemporary' times, but i don't really mind that they're going for a slightly older bruce. makes enough sense to pass muster; dick is 28-29 at the start of the series. he was 12 when bruce took him in and started training him as robin, so he's been doing it for 16-17 years.

we know bruce was 25 when he took on the batman mantle. depending on your source, he was anywhere from two to five years in when he took in dick, so aged 27-30. add 17 years, and he'd be anywhere from 44-47 now.

iain glen, at 57, is admittedly a fair shot older than that, but w/e - it's not totally outrageous/nonsensical casting, is all i'm saying. i am not convinced either, but i won't totally write it off until i see it, at least

Damian Rey 2.0 04-29-2019 11:57 PM

He very well may be great. I had to sell myself on Affleck b Bale and Keaton and I enjoyed all of their work. So it could work.

Damian Rey 2.0 04-30-2019 12:07 AM

And if he's good I'll eat crow

Lock Jaw 07-19-2019 02:38 PM

Brandon Routh gonna be suiting up as Superman again in Crisis on Infinite Earths apparently

Destor 07-19-2019 02:57 PM

yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Destor 07-19-2019 02:58 PM

i hope they use the same style suit

Lock Jaw 07-19-2019 03:09 PM

I hope they get Tom Welling too.

His hand looks so tiny. Or he's wearing his dad's suit, can't decide.

Seanny One Ball 07-19-2019 10:44 PM

That ain't the Joker. That's some John Carpenter nightmare only it's not the 80's anymore.

Looks cheap but probably cost a ton.

Lock Jaw 07-21-2019 12:02 AM

Damn.... Brandon Routh is apparently going to play the "Kingdom Come" Superman..... wish they would just have him reprise his Superman Returns roll.....

Kalyx triaD 07-21-2019 01:51 AM

That could still be the case. Superman Returns was some time ago.

Fignuts 07-21-2019 06:40 AM

Didn't really like Routh in Returns, just because he looked so young. Looked more like a Superboy than a Superman.

Not really a "surprise", but disappointed that they didn't keep her in her original look like she was for the first teaser.....

Kalyx triaD 07-21-2019 02:02 PM

Brand Recognition and all that.

Come to think of it, Dean Cain has been on Supergirl before.... might as well get him to come back and be Superman too.

Seanny One Ball 07-21-2019 03:47 PM

The New Adventures Of Superman was fucking brilliant kids TV. I think about re-watching it every now and then but I truly fear how hokey it may appear now 20+ years later.

Lock Jaw 07-21-2019 03:57 PM

Confession time: Despite being a huge Superman nerd, I never really watched Lois & Clark

Seanny One Ball 07-21-2019 05:08 PM

You missed out on the best Jimmy Olsen

Lock Jaw 07-21-2019 05:20 PM

I feel like Seanny One Ball would have enjoyed my "Lock Jaw Reads Jimmy Olsen Comics" thread..... too bad most of the images in there are broken now.....

slik 07-24-2019 08:48 PM

I think I sort of hate most things DC is doing right now....Have read all of Bendis's Action, Supes, Naomi, Young Justice and feel like almost nothing has happened in any of them. Read the first two issues of Event Leviathan and feel the same.

Tried reading Grant Morrison's Green Lantern and hated almost everything about it. Really 'over' Scott Snyder and how he constantly drops new concepts into a plot and then abandons them and moves onto something else so nothing feels like it has weight to it....

slik 07-24-2019 08:48 PM

Have enjoyed Shazam and Wonder Twins and Doomsday Clock tho

Lock Jaw 07-24-2019 09:59 PM

Am behind on everything........

Have not been enjoying Bendis stuff on Superman/Action Comics either..... Trying to find a way to "break it off" with my local comic book shop and tell them I don't want to buy anything anymore.

(Was planning on giving Bendis until the end of Doomsday Clock, but then that is taking forever....)

slik 07-25-2019 02:13 AM

I feel like I will still give Event Leviathan one more issue and will give Bendis' Legion of Super Heroes a chance in Sept/October (whenever it shows up) despite being disappointed with him thus far...

slik 07-25-2019 02:14 AM

Scott Snyder I came to this realization after reading all his Bats, all his Justice League, all his minis (Batman who laughs, METAL, etc) that I was looking back and at the time thought 'wow this seems like big, important stuff that will reshape ___insert character___" but then I looked back and it's like nothing happened, none of it ever got weight or mattered.

That's how I feel like this giant "Year of the Villain" story will turn out, it will just never get a real 'end' and will morph onto whatever his next big ultra-cosmic-so-colossal-DCU event" is.

slik 07-25-2019 02:19 AM

...thinking now about Scott Snyder debuted both The Signal (Duke Thomas) and Blue Bird (Harper Row) as Robin-esque replacements at different points in his run on Batman and now both are non-existent at DC.

Lock Jaw 07-25-2019 09:46 AM

Signal is in The Outsiders I think. Harper Row retired after the weekly Batman and Robin Eternal

Lock Jaw 08-04-2019 01:16 PM

Kevin Conroy confirmed to be playing an old Bruce Wayne from the future in Crisis on Infinite Earths.

I should really finish the last seasons of Flash and Arrow so I am ready.....

Lock Jaw 08-04-2019 06:57 PM

Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part 1 will air on Supergirl on Sunday, December 8 at 8 pm ET/PT.

Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part 2 will air on Batwoman on Monday, December 9 at 8 pm ET/PT.

Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part 3 will air on The Flash on Tuesday, December 10 at 8 pm ET/PT.

Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part 4 will air on Arrow on Tuesday, January 14 at 8 pm ET/PT.

Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part 5 will on DC's Legends of Tomorrow on Tuesday, January 14 at 9 pm ET/PT.

Risky business methinks, putting a break in the middle of their crossover.... Also dumb.

Lock Jaw 08-05-2019 02:54 AM

CW reportedly developing another DC TV Show.... no word yet on what it is....

Also reportedly saying that they hope Flash/Supergirl/Legends of Tomorrow will continue for years to come despite Arrow coming to an end.

Destor 08-05-2019 09:46 AM

Legends has to be on its last leg

McLegend 08-05-2019 10:22 AM

I figured Arrow was ending during the crossover. Am I wrong on that?

McLegend 08-05-2019 10:28 AM

Yes it does end, but apparently it’s not the last episode in the crossover.

Sixx 08-05-2019 10:34 AM

Arrow never did much for me.

Destor 08-05-2019 11:31 AM

Arrow peaked high but sank so so so very low

Lock Jaw 08-05-2019 01:04 PM

Yesterday watched a bunch of Arrow episodes to try and catch up.... Thought the season started great with him in prison... But now it is back to fluctuating and being wildly inconsistent....

Destor 08-05-2019 01:16 PM

its the inconsistencies within its own internal logic that made me check out from the show

Sixx 08-05-2019 01:31 PM

I'm not saying it was bad or anything, just had no interest in those characters. I don't know much about DC characters. Always a Marvel guy.

Yeah, one episode he was all "we have to do everything and anything to make this partnership with the police work" and then the next he was all "This partnership with the police isn't working, we have to do things our own way!"
