He's right that 9 feels more like a Gaiden type spin off. A sort of tribute to the old school NES games.

I'm more interested to hear how 12 is more qualified than 8 and 10.

Fignuts 05-24-2021 11:45 AM

Way easier to switch jobs in the remake of 3. No more capacity points. There is a penalty where your stats are nerfed until you complete a certain amount of battles.

Destor 05-24-2021 12:50 PM

i love 12s combat and leveling and hate everything else about it. I FUCKING LOVE ITS COMBAT AND LEVELING THO

RP 05-26-2021 10:20 PM

I have about 6 hours into Horizon Zero Dawn and i love it. The only issue i have is the tagging system. Pressing right stick, scanning to my ( moving ) target, and pressing R2. Its a bit much. I'll get used to it. I wish the tagging system was as easy as God of War.

The NPC's have lifeless faces which crack me up. But thats about all i have so far and thats a bit nitpicky.

I get lost just fucking around with my new weapons and killing things. I forget about the main storyline i'm working on. Thats a sign of a great game for sure.

I know the game is a few years old, but this is an amazing game to be given free and complete edition for that matter.

Curtis 05-28-2021 10:21 AM

Resident eVil 8 : About 2.8 hours in so far. Great game, lots of fun. A little too much action and the puzzles are weak so far, hope that changes once I am out of the castle.

Yeah, my only complaint is that fighting humans isn't very interesting. It's still fun because the combat is so good, but the robots are so varied, with different strategies and preparations for each one. So the lack of any really fun human encounters stands out.

Otherwise I loved it. Gorgeous game, with a really fun world to explore.

Sepholio 05-28-2021 01:51 PM

Giving biomutant a shot. I can see why its reviews arent stellar but a lot of the issues ppl seem to take dont really bother me. Its a giant open world with a unique setting and the moment to moment gameplay is fun enough. I like it so far.

Sorry, but it's quite the opposite. I'm on my 3rd play through and the puzzles are not hard at all. The action definitely ramps up as you are introduced to new types of mobs post-castle Demitriscu.

lol that's exactly what I said. I said the puzzles are weak, meaning they are easy, IE, not good. The Piano puzzle is a joke. When I saw it at first, I thought, awesome, remembering the amazing piano puzzle in Silent Hill 1. But the puzzle was ass and a person just mashing buttons could solve it.
Action ramps up, is exactly why I said too much action.

Fignuts 05-28-2021 11:44 PM

He means the puzzles don't get any better after the castle.

You has posted you "hope things change". They do not. They go in the opposite direction that you prefer.

RP 05-31-2021 07:47 PM

I'm loving Horizon Zero Dawn. I'm stunned it was outright free. You didnt even need a PS PLus sub. They gave the complete edition free. I'm having a blast. I have some knitpicks but nothing major.

Destor 05-31-2021 08:50 PM

playing greedall. heavily flawed but not awful

i have finally finished LIVE A LIVE after i stopped playing it for like 7 years. thought my data was gone at one point. very cool innovation game, good story telling and music and scenarios, the last part was a real fucking chore though. the only posts about Live A Live on this forum are some guy putting it in his best obscure snes games and this Indifferent Clox post from a c-fed:

BUT TONIGHT IT WILL BE REVEALED!

I along with my.. I mean OUR audience have pretty much missed the point on all of Noid's elaborate dance like manauevers in the ring, it as if his every move has meaning but in the end it comes together in a a perhaps effective move that resembles a mating dance rather than a wrestling move. Throughought his many rounds of playing 'live a live' just to see the MIsawa Mutoh References in the middle of the ring Kane Knight would always appear on the monitor to interrupt him right at a crucial moment causing an "Incomplete" ending. Noid has announced that "TONIGHT THE GAME WILL NOT BE OVER!!!!"

Kane Knight has been training for years now, not figuring out how to make his opponents' attacks hurt him less but more. and he is able to now take in so much pain that he can unleash it in a way in which he considers much more painful, but no one has actually ever been 'defeated' per se.

TONIGHT TONIGHT TONIGHT!!!

THIS EPIC MATCH WILL GO DOWN!!!

13.5 hours into Re8 and just coming to the last of the four lords. Really like what capcom did with each lord having a different style of their section to play through.
The first part, castle, is still the best. Dont know what the last parts are going to be, but so far, I'm thinking it should've been the last.

drave 06-03-2021 01:40 PM

Heisenberg's factory is on par with Castle Demitrescu IMO.

Just beat it on Village of Shadows difficulty last weekend. Shit gets real after the factory. Enjoy it unfolding man.

But does it have three sexy daughters that I constantly let kill my character because it turned me on and I wanted to see if there were different animations and lines of dialogue?

Curtis 06-03-2021 10:39 PM

Finished it in one sitting tonight, great game and an improvement over RE7. I didnt replay 7, but I see myself replaying eight. Could have used some more exploration and better puzzles, but still a great game.
Only thing I didnt like was the ending which I felt was terrible
SPOILER: show
Seriously? Mia is the one who started this mess by working with bioweapons, per Resident Evil 7, and in the end, Ethan gets killed anyway while Mia survives and goes on her merry end? Terrible. I get that they wanted to get rid of Ethan as a character, but they could have done it so much better.

drave 06-05-2021 09:13 AM

SPOILER: show
Technically, Ethan died in 7, remember? You learn that Jack killed him but he kept on due to the mold. Ethan was a walking mold bioweapon, in a way. Explains why he can just glue his hand back on over and over.

Is he really dead tho? Who was the mysterious hitch hiker at the end of the epilogue?? Rumors man. DLC should answer some of these questions.... maybe

drave 06-05-2021 09:14 AM

also Mercenaries mode is fun AF and challenges are a good reason to replay. Replay value is the highest of any RE game I've played yet. On my 4th (casual) to do some of the timed challenges.

GD 06-06-2021 08:03 PM

Completed Ghost of Tsushima.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Wrath of the Druids

bigdaddysuperfreak 06-07-2021 12:13 PM

Just started playing Super Animal Royale and its ok so far. I like how quick you can get into rounds and its pretty easy to pick up how to play. The game play can be a little frustrating sometimes though. I feel like I get caught up on corners a bit too much, but that might just be because of me.

Sepholio 06-07-2021 03:44 PM

Finished biomutant. It's not incredible, but it's fun and overall a good game. Amazing such a small team made it tbh. Feel like the reviews didn't quite do it justice.

Not sure if I'm going to start the Valhalla DLC now or play Maneater.

drave 06-07-2021 04:01 PM

Maneater is a blast. Short, but fun as fook. There is a point where it was just too easy.... or I just used a good set, dunno. Last fight incredibly underwhelming.

Sepholio 06-07-2021 04:50 PM

I've been watching one of my sons play it. Seems fun. I don't honestly mind when open world games end up easy after you put in work. I'm there for the experience and the exploration and all that. Hell as thorough as I am with games of this ilk it kinda throws me off when it doesn't become too easy at some point.

drave 06-07-2021 04:58 PM

Recently jumped back into Cyberpunk. Can't say just how good it is on the "current gen" consoles. Done more than I've ever done in the game and enjoying the shit out of nearly being max level.

Sepholio 06-07-2021 04:59 PM

Actually speaking of that, Biomutant is the first game in awhile that I felt was too easy to the point that it did bug me. They've since added in a new difficulty to address that, but I was basically done by the time they released the patch.

The issue with that game was the loot system not being quite properly tuned. You could get very high level items when you're like level 5 just because RNG decided thats what you got. Mind you you wouldn't be able to equip them. The issue comes from the addons for crafting and modding weapons as they have no requirements and then the ultimate weapons that are spawned in specific locations and have none either. When I was around level 10ish I happened across the ultimate rifle, which by itself is awesome, but not insane or game changing or anything because I still preferred my pistol....until I added some high power legendary mods i got from RNGesus and that rifle ended any chance at the game ever being challenging. I never changed weapons from that rifle after that. At level 10 I had a gun that melts level 50 bosses in 2-3 seconds at most.

Yea I've still got it sealed on the shelf from my day one purchase. Was waiting for the next gen patches but those prob arent coming until next year now so I'll probably end up caving and playing it soon.

Fignuts 06-07-2021 08:48 PM

I'll wait for the next generation version. Hell by that time maybe I'll actually be able to find a series x.

I wish a clip I would make would do it justice, but it won't. Seriously, at least on Series X, it is butter smooth and very "pretty". It is damn near exactly like the "tech demo" they showed that everyone shits on. It's a damn fun game and its fine (for now) and I'm not gonna pretend otherwise.

Curtis 06-08-2021 01:41 PM

Doom Eternal. Surprisingly more hard of a game than Doom 2016.

RP 06-08-2021 11:08 PM

I signed up for a free trial for PS NOW. I wanted to grab a few games i wouldnt normally purchase.

I played ADR1FT.

It's good. Imagine being Sandra Bullock in the movie Gravity. You have to survive in space. Not the most action paced game, but it's a bit cathartic. Great views of the earth while you try to survive.

It's kind of a play but not a must. I liked it. It's short. 5 hours or so.

I didn't like Resident Evil 2 (remake) at first but it started growing on me.

Curtis 06-13-2021 09:56 PM

Replaying Village on hardcore setting now. Noticeably harder, but not unfair (which I assume the highest setting is). Still turned on by the vampire daughters. It's weird, how did they make these "monsters" so freaking attractive and completely botched Claire in RE2 remake by turning her into a hobgoblin.
Scared @ how they are going to botch my dear Ashley in the RE4 remake.

drave 06-14-2021 08:23 AM

Village of Shadows def not unfair. You will need infinite ammo on 2 decent guns really, but that's it.

Most everything will take you to critical health in 1 hit. The ONLY thing that feels unfair is the Heisenberg fight.

Second walkthrough with the female protagonist. Story is a bit more coherent now.
