Listen, that your mind immediately goes there says more about you than it does me.

Evil Vito 09-08-2023 12:21 PM

lmfao Punk's legal team sent The Elite a legal letter accusing them of breaking NDA terms by doing a skit on BTE in which Matt Jackson costs them millions of dollars by blowing a sponsorship deal with Chili's

a skit that seems it didn't have any correlation to Punk at all. I haven't watched BTE in an eternity and I can swear they always referenced Chili's and getting a sponsorship with them as an "angle" back in like 2021

Evil Vito 09-08-2023 12:21 PM

so yeah Seph's comment about Punk being a SOVEREIGN CITIZEN seem on point

Evil Vito 09-08-2023 12:27 PM

You know what's really funny to think back about all of this is that even though the Bucks are clearly tight with Meltzer, there's a good chance that the main rumor that set Punk off (about getting Colt Cabana fired/demoted to ROH) didn't even originate with the Bucks because it really could've started with any of Colt's many longtime friends in the fed.

Unless someone very credible disputes it, I'm fine with taking TK's statements that it was his decision and his decision only at face value, but I think "arguably the most important wrestler on the roster has longstanding beef with the fifth or sixth-most important member of an undercard faction and now there's an excuse to get them separated without firing the guy who was in AEW first and has a lot of friends here without any cause" is not really a tough explanation to buy.

Colt himself has so many friends in the company that it would've taken little more than some random Dark guy asking Colt where he's been and he'd just be like "not on the road now, I'm getting moved to ROH when it starts up" and whoever he told just put 2 and 2 together. Could've been any number of people really.

Evil Vito 09-08-2023 12:28 PM

Guess it's just hilarious for me to imagine that this entire chain of events that eventually led to the departure of CM Punk started with a random text message between Colt Cabana and fucking Serpentico or something

His revenge will be that the Elite will no longer be able to do BTE videos on YouTube. You watch. And I'm going to laugh my ass off about it. Not because it is Punk being immature (which is why we are in this mess) but instead of the Bucks and Omega being grown ups and EVP's (you know, the role they are supposed to have within the company), they instead continue to act like children on their BTE show.

It's just a circle of immaturity in the wrestling world that the hardcore or casual fan doesnt need in their lives.

Naw, the entire thing happened because CM Punk told Colt Cabana to ignore a order to take down a podcast, and that he would cover all of Colt's legal expenses stemming from ignoring that request, but then didn't because Colt had dinner with 2 guys he worked with in ROH who were now employed by FEDBAD. That ended up being the most expensive pizza dinner of all time.

That side came from the Bucks and isn’t being reported as an NDA. It was an internal agreement to not speak negatively about the other(s). The Bucks and Omega could not help themselves. That wrestlers within AEW can work counterpoint to AEW’s success is not only baffling, but a HUGE part of this drama.

Steel getting a decent chunk of change for essentially being terminated for no reason?

I hope anyone who gets fucked over by this company does pursue some sort of recompense.

Also, lol at AEW fanboys getting up in arms about Punk using official channels to try and pull people into line. If he goes to their face, he’s an asshole. If he goes through the hoops, he’s an asshole. These stories being leaked (which says something in the first place) have an ironic effect.

If Punk went back to AEW and I was a wrestler there, I would immediately ask for my release. It would be clear that he's a fucking moron and doesnt know what the fuck he is doing

Splaya 09-09-2023 01:41 AM

But it's also Meltzer that reported it. So he's full of shit and just trying to start shit just so he can "report" something.

Mr. Nerfect 09-09-2023 04:43 AM

I think it’s pretty evident now that Tony doesn’t know what he’s doing. That would no doubt be icing on the cake, but the data is already in. He’s been sending mixed messages to talent for years now.

“Big name wrestler might end up in WWE, AEW, Impact or NJPW” might be the most blantant non-scoop/hedging of bets imaginable.

Orange Cassidy's AEW Push is plenty proof of that.

Nah. This is the long con.

TK could have bought Punk out of his contract after Brawl Out which would have allowed him to sign with WWE, debut at the Rumble, Main Event Mania against Roman, win the UWU belts, lead WWE to the top of popularity, setting new all time records for attendance, gate, and ratings leading to the closure of the NBA, NFL, NBL, and NHL and obviously AEW (but not Impact, nothing can kill Impact).

By having Punk come back and creating the perfect environment for him to meltdown he’s now “damaged goods” and a “cancer” to the industry. WWE won’t touch him and all national sports leagues but most importantly AEW are safe.

Dude is pulling a Verbal Kint on everyone.

Tony was sent as a spy for Jamie Kellner to kill wrestling again.

Way to kill wrestling in front of 81,000 paying fans…

Bro are you smoking those funny cigarettes?

WWE would never use Phil that way. He was never a Wrestlemania Main Eventer BEFORE he quit, spent 8 years FEDBADing, got his ass kicked in UFC.

Also, Tiny Khan is simply not that smart.

Damian Rey 2.0 09-09-2023 02:53 PM

I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Punk come back to AEW at some point. The reality is there’s still plenty of money to be made. And it’s wrestling. A racist tirade couldn’t sink Hulk Hogan. Homophonic rants couldn’t sink Ultimate Warrior. Bret Hart getting screwed and decking Vince didn’t sink him. Shawn Michaels being an incredibly large piece of toxic shit didn’t sink him.

Punk coming back at some point definitely isn’t out the question.

Mr. Nerfect 09-09-2023 06:19 PM

Punk vs. Dominik Mysterio is money.

Mr. Nerfect 09-09-2023 06:27 PM

I hope CM Punk returns and defeats Dolph Ziggler at Survivor Series. Then Goldberg comes out and attacks Punk, wearing the same style of Stone Cold shirt Punk wore the pipe-bomb promo. And he changes his gear to pink and black.

Hogan being on Rogan a few weeks ago really doesn't exonerate him in the general public's eye.

Warrior warriord until the end and that was so weird to see him on WWE TV.

Bret Hart - It's friggin Bret Hart.

Shawn Michaels went on a long jesus tour redemption. he's still probably a pos.

rez 09-09-2023 10:38 PM

I don't even see Billy Corgan bringing in Punk for a one off, nor TNA.

UFC might bring him in for commentary for a one off (against Triple H's wishes) for controversy.

No way he's back in AEW in anything, tho.

Mr. Nerfect 09-10-2023 08:19 AM

I just want everyone to know I have changed my perspective on the AEW vs. CM Punk issue. I will update everyone tomorrow. It is important to be able to change your mind when faced with new data and perspectives.

Mr. Nerfect 09-10-2023 08:25 AM

Ah hell, I’ll just give it now:

The Elite think they started AEW. Whether or not they did isn’t as important as them thinking they did. They were probably promised the top spots, to see their vision through and be given time to learn on the job.

CM Punk had the option of coming in on the ground. He chose to snub his nose when AEW was not a sure thing in his mind. He went to WWE Backstage. Then he waits until the new car smell is gone to come in and make a splash? Difference in wrestling philosophies aside — and young talent should be able to learn — Punk coming in with top pay and the weight to disrupt the vision of The Elite must have been very confronting to them.

Now, as wrestling fans, does this attitude of The Elite help us? Not really. Not unless you like crappy wrestling. But I can understand why they might feel like the wronged parties. They had their party pissed on by a big dog. They want this to be their story.

GD 09-10-2023 08:35 AM

They had a deal in place for a while but they were never going to debut Punk during the pandemic in an empty Daily's Place. No pandemic and Punk was probably there a year or more sooner than he was.

Splaya 09-10-2023 09:44 AM

In relation to Punk's debut, when was the first time AEW had an arena event. Feel like it had to be well before that.

Thinking back on it, Punk also was the focal attraction of two shows that AEW DEBUTED. That's gotta eat at the Elite too now that I think about it.

What new data?

XL 09-10-2023 09:51 AM

Or were you talking generally?

Ol Dirty Dastard 09-10-2023 10:10 AM

It's hard when you cultivate a work culture that you're proud of (our outside perspectives about that culture aside), and someone comes in and sort of takes over. A new sheriff in town when maybe--to you--that new sheriff didn't seem necessary. Especially when you're used to more autonomy and said new sheriff disrupts that.

I don't like the Bucks and more ascribe to Punk's style of storytelling but I get the frustration. We've all had stuff like that happen at work. Too bad they're a couple of jackoffs and I wish them misery.
