Don't know how I feel about the Fire Pro game. On one hand, I nearly crapped myself in excitement when I saw "Fire Pro Wrestling". And while I do trust Spike to put out something good, I can't see it being anywhere on par with traditional Fire Pro games. It looks more like it's geared for a more casual audience and will likely have an arcade feel to it.
That said, I'll buy it if only for the chance of another true Fire Pro or KOC game being released in the states. It's a good sign that they're making this, since they did say they would never make another wrestling game. Though that can be taken two ways. Either they're testing the waters again or it's not a true wrestling game, like Fire Pro or KOC. |

As long as they go back to the original movesets I'll be thrilled, can't stand the changes in the last 2-3 of them.

5 was probably the best of the series (If you don't count Warriors Orochi 2). 6 was utter shit.

Hate how the online games ruined the continuity of the Final Fantasy series. There are a million Final Fantasy spinoff series like Crystal Chronicles and Tactics, why couldn't they just call it "Final Fantasy Online" and "Final Fantasy Online 2" or something.

Activision considering an experiment on making cutscenes in a game a pay to play feature. The idea is to treat cutscenes from a game like a movie and since you have to pay to watch a movie in theaters or on dvd, you would have to pay to access the media or else you get nothing.
The plan would be around $20 to $30 just for the cutscenes on top of the normal prices for a video game. Activision did hint that this plan wouldn't be a reality until at least another 4-5 years or next console generation. If for some chance it becomes successful, it wouldn't take long for the other big companies to join on this new money making scheme. http://kotaku.com/5639929/activision...game-cutscenes |
Ok, we all laughed at Cliff Blezinski when he suggested paying extra for game endings, and we ended up paying for online in used games...
I want to laugh so hard at the idea of paying for cutscenes since it's the one part of the game lots of people skip over anyway, but you never know. Especially since they're suggesting it for the next generation, which means they'd doubtlessly be near movie levels. |

That said, I wonder if it plays more like KOC than FPW just because it's 3D. They may have called it FPW because it's a better known brand than KOC but who knows. It might not play like either of them and just be dumbed down crap, mind. |

The only game with a significant change is 6, and I'm afraid theyll keep up that shit. I have a PS3, so I'll get it if they don't, but the shitty movesets, renbu system, etc., really killed that game for me. |
|
Damn.
|
Was pretty close to buying that, lol.
They should just release the code under the GPL or something and let the community build it. No reason not to do that, really. Other than reusing the engine. |
Damn who saw the trailer for The Last Guardian. From the same team that made Shadow of the Colossus/ICO. Same art style and everything. Looks amazing

Yeah, pretty psyched for that.

Only a rumor as of now but Epic Games is considering buying the rights to All Points Bulletin which failed after just 90 days and caused its developer to shut down it doors.
Apparently Realtime Worlds and Epic Games have some sort of connection where the boss of Realtime Worlds is a personal friend of the VP from Epic Games. Once Realtime Worlds collapsed as a studio, they contacted Epic Games to see if they were interested in buying the rights to the game before contacting other companies. Most likely Epic Games wouldn't take over APB and restart the servers but it would give them the source code and pre-made engine/environment to build a future MMO if they were ever interested. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...00x_apb_01.jpg http://kotaku.com/5640623/gears-of-w...buy-failed-mmo |
might just play ICO all night, it turns out if you don't grab some fucking stick the game is impossible and you'll be stuck at the beginning for over a year

I still don't get the avatar craze. You've always been able to make wrestlers in FPW. Who thought "You know what would be cool? If we took away years of customisation and tossed in shitty deformed versions of some loser's ideal self!"

Ape Escape Shake! Shake! for the PS3 Move to be an on-rails style shooter but replacing weapons and bullets with gadgets from the series.
Unlike other Ape Escape games, there is no actual exploration but instead the only thing done in levels is to catch monkeys on the screen while the camera guides the player in a linear path. Rumored to have a release date of November 1 at a $40 retail price. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...scape_move.jpg http://kotaku.com/5641392/ape-escape...gadget-shooter |
Hideo Kojima doesn't rule out the possibility of making a Metal Gear Solid 5 game even though he previously said he was done with the series and that MGS 4 would be the last in the Solid storyline.
Original plan was to let another person take over the series but in a new direction or storyline while he would only give suggestions or help if the new team needed him (similar to Miyamoto being used as an adviser for Metroid Prime series). http://kotaku.com/5641618/hideo-koji...l-gear-solid-5 |

Not sure how bad the exchange hurt Sony but in Nintendo's case, they made a profit for the year/quarter but due to the strong Yen vs weak Dollar, they ended up posting a loss for the year/quarter. |
Yo so, was Ninety Nine Nights 2 any good, or was it pretty terrible? Want a decent hack n slash game. Because I can't find Warriors Orochi 2 any where and the new DW have the craptastic move sets, I don't even wanna bother with them.

Hi-Rez Studios trying to convert as many disgruntled All Point Bulletin MMO players by offering a 30% discount to former APB players for their own MMO called Global Agenda.

Newest PSN firmware update 3.50 manages to disable or kill off a good number of non-Sony brand or licensed PS3 controllers.
Mad Catz confirms most of the pre-2008 controllers now won't work on an updated PS3 while their fighting pads and arcade sticks are guaranteed to still be working. Logitec controllers are not affected by the update due to being considered officially licensed by Sony. Rock Band instrumental controllers also assumed to not be affected by the update. This update comes at the same day Sony warns consumers to not buy counterfeit or non-licensed controllers since they could catch on fire or explode while playing. http://kotaku.com/5647346/ps3-update...tz-controllers http://kotaku.com/5646780/sony-block...-of-explosions |

Edit, its "meh" imo |
Just beat Secret of Mana with my friend. Overall this game was fucking retarded and unintentionally hilarious. Only things I liked were the music (aside from the parts where it would cut out because sound effects took up the layers) and being able to upgrade weapons and stuff.
We started Seiken Densetsu 3 and 40 minutes in it is already way better than Secret of Mana. |
Anyone ever played the Sengoku Basara series? I'm not sure if I want to get SB3 or not. Looks like a more over the top Samurai Warriors, so it could be fun. I like crowd combat. It's certainly pretty and all, but I skipped the first one (In part because of the changes they made to the US version) and the second didn't make it to America as far as I know.

I found Devil Kings fun, but only because I'm a sucker for over the top hack and slash. Wish I could get SB3.

BTW, sick of extreme claims to a games difficulty/competitive level. And I understand how simplistic certain DOA mechanics are, but like hell you're gonna win pressing back+free. Get serious. "Just use ultras in SF4 to win." "No strategy in Smash, anybody can win." "Tekken's a button masher." "Soulcalibur's a button masher with scrub ringouts." "Thermal's for noobs." "Reach's bloom is for noobs." "Stand still and counter to win in DOA." And so fucking on. Almost always from people who spent all of 8mins with the game. And what gets me is what is actually brain-dead and scrub shit never gets called out or is in fact celebrated. Aim bloom in Reach; "scrub shit". Flag juggling in Halo 3; "being strategic". Mega Crash in TvC, "scrub shit". Spamming assists in MvC2, "being skillful". Not a rant specifically at you LoDown but god damn. |
