Sepholio 01-01-2021 12:49 AM

Its basically Assassins Creed: Hyrule with lighthearted banter/comedy narration.

ClockShot 01-01-2021 04:14 PM

100%/platinumed Assassins' Creed: Valhalla

The more I played, the more I hated it. Just when I thought Odyssey put the series back on track, Valhalla takes it off the rails again. Definitely goes in the lower tier of all time A.C. games.

Probably going to step away from it until they either do the Japan setting with ninjas and samurai we're all dreaming of or the final game of the series. Now I just want it to end.

Installing Cyberpunk tonight.

Curtis 01-01-2021 06:04 PM

They need to make an Assassin's Creed game set in prehistoric times.
No, not cavemen.
Nope, not dinosaurs.
The primordial soup era. You could play as a chunk of DNA trying to get away from rogue proteins to form the first ever genome. Would be pretty dope.

RP 01-01-2021 06:19 PM

I agree. I've never played an Assassin's Creed game but dont it involve some time travel? I might have to pick the first few up.

GD 01-01-2021 07:34 PM

So I'm abandoning Assassin's Creed: Valhalla since I've ran into a considerable amount of bugs over the past couple of days. I haven't given up on a game like this in a while. Looking forward to "Ghost of Tsushima"

Black Widow 01-02-2021 02:20 AM

High playing a Ghost game on mini super Nintendo

Yeah. Couldn't get all the treasures in Valhalla they're bugged.

But, you're gonna love Ghost of Tsushima.

GD 01-02-2021 07:27 AM

I really wanted to finish the main storyline but the bugs just killed it for me. Also, this is truly a step down from Odyssey. Hopefully the bugs are sorted out by next year.

What were u playing Valhalla on Dave? I basically 100% it other than a few of the random trophies (couple combat ones and the fishing and dice ones). Only ran into like 3 bugs; random npc animation bugged out for a couple seconds, got launched when climbing in some weird geometry and fell through the map once also climbing in a weird place. Other than that it was smooth af for me.

Really liked the story of Valhalla, especially the stuff close to the end. You guys are really missing out on one of the biggest twists in the series that def leaves an interesting cliff hanger for the next installment.

But...yea the game def took a step back from odyssey and origins IMO. This is the first entry to me that really just didnt fit for me. It could just be called Valhalla with no ties to AC and it would be fine. But yea this one just sidnt feel assassiny to me. Still like it on its own though.

Would Prob make it a bit harder though considering how much this one leans on in your face brutality and how strong you get fairly quickly. I literally beat the strongest enemy in the game (level 400 legendary bear in ine of the areas you go to on the seer quests) when I was level 126 or so. There were a couple other really tough enemies (the highest level witch and a couple zealots who were around Lvl 340) that were harder IMO because of their skillsets but I took them all down by the time I was around level 200. This combat system seemed at first to require more skill than previous games, especially without the insane combo kills you could rack up before, but the timing is way more forgiving and is easy to master. I hardly ever parried, would just perfect dodge and maul people with dual greatswords that speed up the more I attack. All those skills and the leap attack is the only one you really need. I never used another although a couple of them are similarly Op. Blah ranting.

Sepholio 01-03-2021 09:23 PM

For what its worth, Immortals Fenyx rising is also a good game that becomes too easy once you get good at it. If you guys try it I suggest turning up the difficulty. Fun game though. Really like the puzzle design and there are ways to brute force your way around some challenges that require certain skills; you just have to understand the mechanics and think a bit outside the box. Some of them really had me feeling proud when I got around them.

Savio 01-03-2021 09:39 PM

She hasn't killed anyone yet in Undertale. We will see what happens when she fights Toriel

ClockShot 01-04-2021 07:31 PM

Playing Cyberpunk 2077. Taking my time with it.

PS4. I carry it with me when I travel internationally. Hasn’t failed me yet. The game is just too buggy. Might plow through it unenthusiastically...

You seem intently interested in whether or not she is eventually going to have a bad time.

My curiosity is piqued.

drave 01-05-2021 10:37 AM

Son has been stuck on the Sans fight for quite some time......

Might have to start practicing to show him how it's done. Hard AF tho.

GD 01-05-2021 12:02 PM

Hey Seph, I tried to give it another shot and finished "The Oswald" portion. I feel bad for what I did with "Randvi" :o

GD 01-05-2021 12:04 PM

"Randvi" means whore in like 10+ languages here :shifty:

road doggy dogg 01-06-2021 04:49 PM

Picked up Octopath Traveler again after a 2 year hiatus. Just scooped up the Runelord job. Stupidly OP. I love it.

Nark Order 01-25-2021 06:12 PM

Playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider atm. Was never "into" Tomb Raider as a kid but SotTR is fun, complex, and it really sucks you in. Enjoying it alot. About 48% through.

RP 01-28-2021 05:09 PM

Child of Eden is an incredible SHMUP. Maybe the most ambitious SHMUP i've ever played. And have to pause a few times because i'm afraid i'll have a seizure, but man it is fantastic. How did I not know about this game?

OssMan 01-31-2021 12:25 PM

Yeah it's really cool. I think it's an evolution of Rez, which was a lot more popular

ClockShot 01-31-2021 04:13 PM

Still sticking with Cyberpunk 2077.

Crawling through and doing my usual thing. Mopping up districts of missions and side stuff 1 by 1.

It's probably the best looking of the newest entries and knifing people all stealth commando-style never gets old. Rise of the Tomb Raider is probably the best of the three, but slightly, in my opinion.

drave 02-08-2021 10:46 AM

Picked up Valhalla and fucking LOVE it so far. Very much at the beginning of the game, going to meet the sons of Ragnar Loethbrook.

Ivarr is crazy as fuck, just like the historical texts say. The "meta" story so far is strange, but I think I am slowly understanding what is going to happen.... I've heard it's a big "swerve" compared to the other AC games.

Will probably get the DLC for this one.

Also, big bonus coming from work on my next check. May be updating to the XSX which I am VERY excited for :D

joshwoodsrohfandm 02-08-2021 10:56 AM

Civilization Revolution 2 Plus for PS VITA started another campaign with JFK.

I am still looking to get a switch sometime this year but have to wait for pandemic to end before I can consider one. I'm not entirely sure I want one though.

I love the Vita so much; had it since launch.

drave 02-08-2021 11:57 AM

Get a Switch if you are even considering it. Trade your bucket for it.

Srsly though, just got one for Christmas and wish I would have had one sooner.

Extreme Angle 02-24-2021 07:57 AM

rez 02-27-2021 09:09 PM

I picked up Super Mario 3d World today from Gamestop...cause you know, I like the stock. perdy good so far!

ClockShot 02-28-2021 03:14 PM

Finished up Cyberpunk 2077.

Downloaded the Outriders demo. BUT, in order to play it, you need to sign up for Square Enix or you're locked out. And that's a no-go for me. So, I'll hold off and take my chances on launch.

Downloaded Control. Gonna take that for a spin.

Destor 03-02-2021 09:27 PM

Bravely Default 2

drave 03-03-2021 07:44 AM

God damn Xbox Series X is amazing.

Going to restart Cyberpunk because it honestly plays like an entirely new title altogether. AC Valhalla is beautiful as well.

Load times are bonkers. Fast travel in AC takes less than 10 seconds from the moment I initiate to where I can move Eivor again.

Booted up Division 2 for shiggles as well, since they optimized it. From launch to controlling my character was only slightly over 60 seconds, which is a HUGE improvement. I avoided fast travel in that game due to loading times taking longer than just fucking walking.

Shit, even video streaming apps work faster, its nuts.

If any of y'all were considering it and can get your hands on one, it's worth it.

rez 03-05-2021 09:57 PM

The Wii U Mario games are amazing. I only ever played that console a few times at a buddy's. I mean...fuck Nintendo for full price on these ports but whatever.

My all time fav Mario games (that I've played) are pretty equal at #1

Mario 3 (NES)
Mario World (SNES)
Mario Paint (SNES)*
Mario Maker 2 (Switch)*

* Not traditional games

Honorable mentions: Mario 64, Odyssey

Those Cube +Mario games suck

I'm gonna venture into the Luigi Haunted Mansion games soon

Is Paper Mario worth it? I remember liking Yoshi's Island

Helmsphere 03-05-2021 10:34 PM

Been playing the Tomb Raider remake, how is that girl still able to kick ass with those injuries.

Ultra Mantis 03-06-2021 09:11 PM

Just finished my first playthrough of Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I picked the Black Eagles because they looked the coolest, and while I dont regret that at all, I have some thoughts.

SPOILER: show
Edelgard is the fucking worst. She is an absolute hypocrite and a narcissist of the highest order and that's why I decided to get her route out of the way first. I did not want to side with her, she turns up being the big bad that was being built up from the prologue and it's not even fun being bad in this game. I hated that the rest of the class were forced into her stupid war and they had to spend part two rationalizing that they were still the good guys even though they were invading struggling Kingdoms and sabotaging peace efforts. Lord Ferdinand deserved better and he wasnt even one of the 20 characters who died a needless death. Petra, Bernie, Dorothea and Lindhardt don't have a bad bone between them. Creepy Akechi Hubert Prompto was a moronic simp. Why does he constantly gloss over that Edelgards group of seemingly non humans are actually responsible for the Crest torture, Jeralt's death, the village massacre, SUMMONING NUKES etc. The church was brutal and weird yes, but Edelgard is pretty much Voldemort. Does she expect me to forget she paid some bandits to kill off Dimitri and Claude while they were on a training exercise with school? Or that she was behind the attacks that got Lonato and his men executed in the first place? Fuck off Edelgard. You're the worst. Stupid piece of shit Flame Emperor ass. Even Rhea doing her best Daenerys at King's Landing impression didn't warm me to the cause. Utter disgrace. Black Eagles will never win the house cup now.

Santa Claus 03-07-2021 05:36 PM

Call of Duty and Madden

Jordan 03-08-2021 08:32 PM

UFC 4 and if you want to challenge me on Xbox send me a message.

joshwoodsrohfandm 03-09-2021 09:29 AM

I had not played sleeping dogs for ages; put it in and was glued to the game for a while. Good times.

drave 03-09-2021 10:18 AM

STILL playing AC Valhalla. Game is long as fook, longer than Odyssey, or maybe I'm just doing more side stuff that is making it take longer.

Either way, the game is beautiful on the Series X and load times are nearly non-existent. Unless I am traveling to or from my settlement, it is less than 10 seconds.

Also have UFC 4, but not jumped back in as AC has my attention. Things are getting good and I'm ~ 70-80 hours in
