Who wrestled?

But...

SPOILER: show
I think it's revealed he's decided to go after the NXT North American Title.

They filmed two endings to that match. They might decide to just scrap it all if they can't decide.

All NXT guys.

Velveteen Dream's got to be the dumbest wrestler name I've ever heard.

It sounds like a brand of toilet paper.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-03-2019 09:45 PM

he's good

Sixx 02-03-2019 09:48 PM

I bet a Velveteen Dream TP would be good, too.

Lock Jaw 02-03-2019 10:05 PM

He's good, but it is a dumb as hell name that will severely limit his career if not changed.

Savio 02-03-2019 10:57 PM

He should change it to VD

Not surprising. No one knows who these guys are, and while they've got a ton of potential, most of them are severely overrated as workers.

They just need to plug him into something that matters and he'll shine, but NXT doesn't matter. The downside is that the main roster doesn't matter either, but also gives guys less shine.

Velveteen Dream sounds like an ice cream brand.

Pretty much the usual for a non-major WWE event with a little extra mainstream attention because Maroon 5 went public about being upset over the constant digs being made.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-04-2019 01:06 AM

Yeah they backtracked that. The Last ad I saw on either NXT or SD just had "Why would you watch this" and it was just a big Question Mark without the band's name.

Saw no ads on any tv shows or for online ads. WWE network is usually heavy on ads on random sports sites.

Golddust. Undertaker. Mankind. Big Show. Big Poppa Pump.

Just naming a few, those are all pretty fucking stupid, too. And they all not only stuck, but you can't picture history without those names.

It's one of those things that sounded dumb at the onset, but actually seeing him with the "eccentric" gimmick in action, it is worlds better than Patrick Clark would have ever been. It is one of those names that grows on you. If they don't bury and put the generic "just another person" stink on the guy on the main roster like they do with most callups, eventually most folks will think the same way.

I know it is cool to shit on the guy, but I think he could have been better unchained. Inversely, if JR came into the business when Cole did and got micromanaged to death, nobody would be singing his praises now.

Semi related: Mrs. Ambrose has already be ruint. When she started on the desk, she sounded like she was actually there calling shit. Now, she literally sounds like she is being fed every sound byte and repeating it verbatim. Kind of like the old Smackdown games with King's commentary quips that could (and were) inserted anywhere in a match.

I wonder, on a scale, where everyone would fit in people appreciating what they can do in the booth if they were allowed to just "be". Pretty sure Cole would be seen in a better light. Not so much for someone like Saxton, who always sucked ass. He was better in the ring, and that's not saying much.

Apparently Seth Rollins is currently injured but its not serious enough to jeopardize his Mania plans.

Another potential blow for RAW involves Elias since its rumored he's getting his tv time cut by a lot if his feud with Jeff Jarrett isn't successful. Apparently WWE thought his face run would have been a big hit with casual fans but he wasn't generating anywhere near the merch sales nor outside interest they were expecting. Making things worse is the rumor of WWE doesn't think he has the charisma or skills needed to be a big star.

None of those are as retarded as Velveteen Dream. Also, Big Poppa Pump was a nickname, he still had his Scott Steiner name.

Nicky Fives 02-04-2019 09:17 AM

Pretty sure once he hits the main roster, it won't be too hard to change his name to "The Velveteen Dream" Patrick Clark or whatever dumb shorter version Vince deems fit....

Meh. This is the more common thought process (particularly on here) then just flat out admitting the guy isn't great.

Remember, he started under the tutelage of JR. Maybe he'd have been alright and as I've said, he's passable when he's "unchained". But he's no authority and is frankly just quite rigid.

I agree. I enjoyed Michael Cole and Tazz on Smackdown during the original brand extension. He's certainly more than bearable when he's not overproduced (Beast in the East, Original UK tournament etc.). How was his work in the 2018 May Young Classic tournament? Also, while his heel run was tragic, his NXT season 3 compilations are quite amusing.

Matt Hardy has lost a lot of weight. Loved his short run with the WCW/WWE Cruiserweight title when the weight limit was 220 lbs.

For me, it's a couple of things. The pin up model look does it for me. That and she has that genuine bitch vibe that reminded me of Sunny.
