Haven't been interested in watching wrestling in a long time, but I am now binge watching Strowman clips on youtube. Guy is awesome.

Sixx 11-20-2018 01:36 PM

Hm, every time the commentators introduce Nakamura I hear them saying Shitstain Nakamura.

kinda fun.

#1-norm-fan 11-20-2018 05:39 PM

Who would have thought 20 years after "Beyond the Mat" was released that Jake Roberts would be live anywhere. Kudos to that fucking guy. He's got them Keith Richards genes.

Mr. Nerfect 11-20-2018 06:48 PM

I was thinking about Jake Roberts the other day. If those abstract and unsubstantiated rumors about a new Chris Jericho North American promotion are true, I had this pipe-dream that they would get Bret Hart to be the top agent. Underneath where Christian, DDP and Jake Roberts, provided you could trust Jake. I also thought of Edge, but I figured he would be "too busy."

Then I saw a shoot from Bret Hart yesterday where he talked about agenting, and how he finds it weird that Vince has all these guys that never really worked on top telling top guys how to work their matches, and he said that he was willing to produce for them for TVs only. It was like this weird pipe-dream that kind of just accidentally simpatico with Bret Hart's thoughts on wrestling.

DDP’s a fucking miracle worker for what he’s done with Jake

Scott Hall, too, from what I've heard.

He's done good stuff, but Jake has to want to get help too. Kudos to him for being willing to take those steps.

Sixx 11-20-2018 07:17 PM

I can't be the only one who think Lesnar looks like he has a tiny bit of Down's Syndrome.

It must be those eyes?

I think the NWO theme was just some random song that sounded like generic porn music which is how it was referred to it as such in a tounge-in-cheek way. The Cactus Jack theme was *actually* used in one that apparently predated his WWE transition.

From the google.

nWo: Frank Shelley's 'Rockhouse'
The nWo (New World Order) wrestling theme was always one of the best. The track is Frank Shelley's 'Rockhouse', made by sampling Jimi Hendrix riffs from 'Hey Joe', 'Highway Chile' and 'The Stars That Play With Laughing Sam's Dice'.

Tom Guycott 11-21-2018 02:00 AM

The Highway Chile bit was quite obvious. Didn't notice the rest.

Also, a couple more production tracks I remember hearing elsewhere is the first Dudleyz theme, and the first one for The Usos/Tamina.

Mr. Nerfect 11-21-2018 02:09 AM

I heard Justin Credible's WWF theme in a commercial at some point.

Mr. Nerfect 11-21-2018 05:10 AM

I've been listening to Fumi Saito's podcast, Pacific Rim Wrestling a lot. He's a Japanese super-fan and journalist that used to work for a magazine over there. He's got lots of insight into how Japanese wrestling works, and he's a pretty optimistic guy. They're quite short.

Mr. Nerfect 11-21-2018 05:11 AM

He doesn't just cover modern stuff, but historical stuff as well. They could probably go deeper into certain subjects, but I'm only a few in.

Lol Bret had to work his ass off to get a pop.

Steele carried a stuff bear and ate turnbuckles and got over.

Strongbow looked like a sack of shit and did a rain dance and got over.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-21-2018 09:23 AM

Both guys were over but neither was world champ, in fairness.

Bad News Gertner 11-21-2018 09:33 AM

What box office records did Bret set? (The best of a bad situation)

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-21-2018 09:35 AM

Meh. Still champ while the two of them were supporting acts.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-21-2018 09:36 AM

And he was champ in a time where having the belt meant something.

Bad News Gertner 11-21-2018 09:40 AM

They could have put Sivi Afi or Frenchie Martin in there and done just as well as Bret

Sixx 11-21-2018 09:44 AM

Bret always bored me.

And that's saying something for a guy in pink spandex.

Nah. They would have had to go with some at LEAST as good as Tonga Kid.

Hogan should have changed his lyrics at Crown Jewel:

"I am a real americannnn, fight for whats right unless it conflicts with a multi-billion dollar arms deallllll"

Big Vic 11-21-2018 01:14 PM

The 'end' of the LWO was so pathetic and funny, lol

I don't know why, but the WWE calling anyone else absurd just doesn't sit well with me in 2018. Follow up your own angles and then talk, you fucking cunts.

I've grown to really appreciate Bret Hart recently. I missed him growing up, and when I went back my tastes weren't there to understand him. I found him "boring" too. Now, he's probably one of my favorite wrestlers. The way he tells a story is second-to-none.

A.J.K 11-21-2018 09:54 PM

Watching Matches of Christian on the network right now.

So much untapped potential, wasted talent. He was great in the ring and a hell of a promo.

Shame on WWE for not giving Captain Charisma his due.

Considering the internet rumors that Vince didn’t like him, it’s quite an achievement that he had two reigns as the world’s heavyweight champion.

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-21-2018 10:16 PM

He just thought he had a rat-face. Which he does.
