Feels weird people are paying so much for the Nintendo Classic system. Only 30 games and it can't be plugged into the internet for updates/more games being added in. Seems like a waste.

Fignuts 11-12-2016 02:32 PM

Yeah, if I knew there wss an update system, I'd be more inclined to shrll out for it, but with only 30 games, some of which I have no interest in, it''s a hard sell for me.

Obviously emulation being so eady and readily available is a factor as well.

#BROKEN Hasney 11-12-2016 06:40 PM

It is recognised on a PC as a USB device so people are working on hacking it, but since they made it be recognised, Nintendo might have plans.

Kalyx triaD 11-12-2016 09:09 PM

Did the VC platform die or something..? I'm also perplexed at the enthusiasm for a miniconsole that's essentially like those mini segas that were also rendered obsolete by a huge sega collection relessed a while back. I don't get it. Is it cause it's cute?

Emperor Smeat 11-12-2016 09:42 PM

No but VC support has been pretty low for both the 3DS and Wii U this gen. Mainly because a lot of third party companies not bothering unlike with the Wii and Nintendo having to do more work for the games.

This is probably just them taping into the nostalgia market since the NES is usually #1 for retro consoles and beefing up their holiday lineup for big stuff since all they have is Pokemon and Super Mario Maker for the 3DS.

Probably also helps Nintendo put a lot more effort with the NES Classic than Atari, SNK, and Sega did for their replicas.

Ruien 11-12-2016 10:14 PM

I don't understand why they didn't just add 100 games. It's not like they take up much space anymore for these tiny games. Then you take the console up to 100 dollars.

Fignuts 11-13-2016 01:23 AM

Yeah, you could easily t the entire NES library several times over with the storage capacity it has now.

Ruien 11-13-2016 03:23 PM

On the flip side, this Black Friday is going to be amazing. Fallout 4 (yes I never bought it) for $20.00. Skyrim's newedition is $25.00. Same for Gears of War 4. Dark Souls 3 for $20.00 too. And that is just what I seen so far.

Its not horrible, just worse models. They can't do eyes, hair or facial animation.

Kalyx triaD 11-19-2016 09:17 PM

The problem is we already hit the point where games really don't need remaster releases since they still look good. They should stop at upping the rez or adjusting the aspect but there's some crazy habit of trying to pimp newer tech on these games. And this is how the FFX remaster looks worse than the original.

Some efforts work; like Nintendo does not fuck around with HD remasters. Some are pointless, like the recent Gears trilogy. But the worst case scenario are tryhard devs playing with games they themselves have no idea what the charms were.

Ruien 11-19-2016 10:22 PM

Never understood why people bought remastered games honestly. You are basically buying the same game twice but it looks a little prettier.

Fignuts 11-20-2016 12:01 AM

A lot of people probably buy remsters of games they have never played.

Emperor Smeat 11-20-2016 12:23 AM

Think it was even a big selling point online for the PS4 with Sony being aggressive getting Xbox 360 owners to switch to them this gen. Get to play classic PS3 games and PS brand games without needing to buy those older consoles.

Ruien 11-20-2016 07:23 AM

Ah that makes a lot of sense.

Kalyx triaD 11-20-2016 12:43 PM

But the games Sony rereleased were often straight ports with maybe an aspect adjustment. Basically how it should be done (though X1 is doing that more often now with the growing emulation list). What's scary is hearing a game you like being remastered. I wonder if Darksider fans got off easy.

#BROKEN Hasney 11-20-2016 03:46 PM

THQ Nordic are doing that in house I believe, so it should be alright.

The main problem is that publishers just sell the development work of the remasters to the lowest bidder and we get all this shot.

Sepholio 11-21-2016 02:45 AM

More remakes/reboots and less remasters. Since hell froze over and we're getting an ff7 remake maybe we can get a chrono trigger remake too. Hell blaster master is getting a reboot. So much better than remasters most of the time.

Fignuts 11-21-2016 05:13 AM

Wait what? Blaster master? Better be 2d gameplay.

Also, I would prefer a new chrono game over a remake. Get the the original creators together again tho.

FYI, if you're planning on getting Final Fantasy 15, Kingsglaive is definitely worth a watch. WAAAAAAYYY better than square's previous efforts, and a really good introduction to FF15's world and the conflict surrounding it.

Yeah?

I grabbed my copy today and heard the new movie is good. Might go for it.

Just think of it as a long ass intro and don't judge it as a movie. It doesn't fully hold up to scrutiny.

Also, watch the Brotherhood anime on YouTube.

ClockShot 12-05-2016 07:18 PM

If "revitalize" is Capcom code for "make more Resident Evil and Street Fighter games", then what's the point?

But, if they're gonna go back and dust off some of their other classics such as Onimusha (still waiting), Final Fight, Dino Crisis, etc., then here's hoping this a journey to get back to the gaming outfit they used to be.

Fignuts 12-05-2016 07:27 PM

I don't see how they could mean Street Fighter or RE, since they never stopped making those games.

That fucking better not be japan exclusive

Kalyx triaD 12-12-2016 04:11 AM

It's very likely Japan exclusive. NJPW has next to no official presence here aside from pirated wrestling games and us alpha nerds knowing the true origin of the N64 AKI wrestling game engine. They must have been mentioned on screen on WWE three times ever.

#BROKEN Hasney 12-12-2016 04:41 AM

I'd say there's a chance. We've had costumes that have no relation to anything in the west before that have been licensed. Just depends on the deal.

It's looking like the NJPW guys in Yakuza 6 are going to make it over here at least.

Fignuts 12-12-2016 07:27 AM

Also NJPW has been making attempts to expand to the U.S. the last few years, and reports are they are pushing it even more in 2017.

In CD Projekt Red's case, its mostly tech and new gaming features they are researching and not an actual game being developed with the money.

What doomed 38 Studios was them lying about the amount of money needed to actually develop the game and the government department knowing the project was going to fail but didn't tell investors beforehand.
