Daniel Bryan suffered a legitimate injury during his match with Randy Orton Monday night on Raw, according to the Wrestling Observer, which is why the match was stopped.

The report notes that Bryan was supposed to win the match over Orton, which would have continued the story of Bryan building a resume of big victories. (Earlier in the night, Bryan floated the idea of eventually challenging for the WWE Title in a scripted promo.)

WWE handled the change of plans by saying Bryan suffered a stinger to his neck/shoulder, which was a legitimate injury. To cover for Bryan not winning the match, WWE followed through on a "wrestler health" story that authority figure Triple H stopped the match out of concern for Bryan's apparent injury. This led to a spontaneous blow-up between Bryan and Hunter to keep Bryan strong as a babyface because he's fought through numerous injuries in his career.

The injury situation appeared to begin Sunday night in Chicago. At the Payback PPV, Bryan sold a shoulder injury off-camera following his Tag Title match loss. According to our correspondent, Kevin, Bryan left the ring favoring his right shoulder accompanied by a referee. He was the only wrestler to exit behind the sound booth and not through the Gorilla position.

Bryan complained that he's worked all over the world and has worked hurt and knows when he can still go and when he cannot. Triple H's argument was that they were protecting Bryan and they don't want anyone working hurt. Obviously, the company sees something major in Bryan and wants him ready for his push.

The two eventually apologized to each other.

I agree with this

Do people other than Ryan Clark (and DAMN iNATOR, I suppose) actually believe the HHH-Daniel Bryan thing was legit?

Lock Jaw 06-18-2013 09:54 PM

I see no reason why it couldn't be.

Emperor Smeat 06-18-2013 10:11 PM

Considering the sudden nature of the match ending with even Orton not knowing what was happening, it probably was a real argument turned into a kayfabe incident.

Seems like either Bryan was unaware of what the WWE was doing (ex. sudden rewrite, panicking, etc) or he thought it was making him look a lot weaker for no reason.

D-Byr is supposed to face Cena a summer slam, (rumor). Does anyone have a gif of the suicide dive?

An alternate, even more of a "dick" move ending to the 1-800-FELLA commercial:

Did you at least have a salmon suit on?

Sadly no. I have no idea where one can procure that great a salmon colored suit.

Cesaro has all the tools needed to become a major player in the WWE... except kneepads. :shifty:

Really happy about this, though. I hope it leads to something good with Cesaro.

Shorter Triple H: "I care about the well being of the wrestlers, unless the wrestler is named Triple H."

I mean, the angle with Curtis Axel isn't even a month old.

Kaitlyn is probably the worst actress the WWE has ever had.

Innovator 06-20-2013 09:13 AM

Jackie Gayda.

Big Vic 06-20-2013 09:19 AM

I remember her being bad at wrestling but was she bad at acting too?

screech 06-20-2013 09:35 AM

But Kaitlyn's boob was out so it can be forgiven.

#BROKEN Hasney 06-20-2013 10:18 AM

Keep seeing posted everywhere that the script for the last Raw was re-written at lunchtime because Vince wasn't happy, so he took advice from Heyman and Zeb who basically booked the show as a 3 man team with a little word here and there from Steph.

Can't help but think it's people wanting to believe, purely because it was a great 3 hours of TV.

Big Vic 06-20-2013 10:30 AM

Raws are usually better the night after a PPV
