Lock Jaw 09-17-2018 11:55 PM

JBL was the last great main event heel

Would love for WWE to recreate something similar in today's political clim...oh wait! They did the Jinder Mahal Independence Day segment.

Remember when Bram, Epico, and Raquel Diaz were in The Ascension?

Good thing they didn't stick with that version of The Ascension, or they would've turned out to be total jobbers.

My buddy alright got front row tickets for Starrcade. Now I just have to trick him into inviting me.

Anybody Thrilla 09-18-2018 02:20 PM

Those Glacier promo vids sure seemed like he would be better.

Anybody Thrilla 09-18-2018 02:28 PM

The Nasty Boys weren't terrible promos.

Definitely watching a Clash of the Champions from 1996, btw.

Simple Fan 09-18-2018 02:33 PM

Been watching WCW from 1998 and its almost just like WWE's current product. Even more so with the Snickers sponsorship.

Based on recent reports from the Observer and Post Wrestling, seems WWE has no clue on what direction they want to go for the Becky-Charlotte feud.

According to Meltzer and Pollock, WWE is now back on the idea of Becky being a full blown heel and Charlotte as the face star for the feud. Dropped whatever plans they had to make both tweeners in this feud and possibly going forward.

Fignuts 09-18-2018 06:24 PM

lol good luck with that

Vastardikai 09-18-2018 08:03 PM

I want to mention this issue I have with Walter. I mean, the guy is a great worker, is very mobile, and looks like a killer. The problem is... his name is Walter.

What comes to mind when I hear the name Walter?

Also, for the Double Post, I have something that may or may not have been posted before... a music video featuring Bill Goldberg and Lemmy looking like he has no idea what's going on.

And trust me, the tag is there for a reason.

Solid promo. Dean destroying Cena will always be one of my favorite promos of all time.

Wasn't Ricardo Rodriguez part of this group as well as sort of a "player/coach" manager? I swear I remember a promo where he downplayed being Alberto Of The River's ring announcer as "a means to an end" or somesuch.

I am the not positive one. Who also didn't mind her losing to Charlotte. And yeah. Everything since then has come off as a blatant "fuck you people who want good storytelling and character development." Which is just weird. I mean... ignoring people who value storytelling for the sake of just being lazy is one thing. But they're actively going against them at this point which is an oddly petty thing to do for a major corporation.

What makes it more baffling is that they then don't see how this is a detriment, and just complain about the complainers instead of... you know... addressing the complaints.

And the cherry on that shit cake is that "fuck you people who want good storytelling and character development" attitude flies in the face of the company that tries to tout themselves as being all about said storytelling and development because they're a television drama instead of a wrestling show.

You can't bitch about wanting to build stars to go to Hollywood, then bitch more when they actually go. You can't say wins and losses don't matter, and then either have someone win all the fucking time (Cena) even when it makes no sense, job someone to oblivion but still expect them to stay over, or try to push the 50/50 thing to where nobody is better than anyone else and you end up with an entire roster of midcarders.

You can't call yourself the thing you're actively rebelling against.

Tom Guycott 09-19-2018 04:29 AM

I mentioned elsewhere that I watched TakeOver, and noted the "Call Me Up Vince" on Patrick Clark's tights. I feel kinda bad that I *don't* want that to happen, and it isn't because he doesn't deserve to be on the main stage. He has been in developmental for a looooong time, and has finally found his way and landed in his groove. He's gone from "who's this clown?" to "goddamn, he's pretty impressive" in his time there. But, if he came up to the main roster now, he'll be just another face in the crowd by Christmas... and even a short time ago, I would have added the caveat about how the only way this would be untrue is if Vince made a project out of him, but he made one of of Kevin Steen, and look where that went.

Viceland released the entire list of titles for their upcoming wrestling documentaries looking at the dark side of wrestling.

According to the Observer, Viceland originally planned to make 10 documentaries but cut the list down to six instead. Among those cut was a documentary planned on Chris Benoit's career and life.

– Bruiser Brody
– Randy Savage & Elizabeth

– The Von Erichs
– Fabulous Moolah
– Gino Hernandez

... The series will be narrated by Mick Foley.

Droford 09-20-2018 04:15 PM

I'd rather have had one on Benoit than covering Montreal for the bazillionth time

Bad News Gertner 09-20-2018 04:26 PM

Fucking hell. Viceland isn't available in Canada anymore. They had a series focusing on wrestling subcultures that I posted about a while back and it was fantastic.
