Oh God...

I can't believe this thread has reached "Last Page" status

That sounds like a gimmick a poster might use on this site.
... eh ... not that I'd know anything about that... :shifty: |

If I want to watch an episode of "Mid South Wrestling," what's a really good episode to watch to check it out? Never seen it I don't think
I love the May.31 1986 episode with Eddie Gilbert, The Russians and Bill Watts.
The June 29 1985 episode is great but I'm not sure if it's on the Network. |

Gertner had me start at the beginning of 82 I think. JYD looks so healthy and buff, it's unreal. |
Yeah I'm not the best with dates, but you really can't go wrong with 82 Mid South. Hell, Mid South was even good when it became the UWF in 86.
Wait am I confusing it with Mid Atlantic Wrestling... which one is the one that's supposed to be really good
Mid Atlantic seems to be more prominently featured on WWE Network |
Mid Atlantic is Jim Crockett, Mid South is Bill Watts
Depends if you're in the mood for Flair or JYD
Gertner you say things now
Mid Atlantic depends on the year. 85 and 86 is great. 83-84 were transition years and very hit and miss.
The first Starrcade in 83 was pretty bad besides the last few matches.
The T.V was pretty bad as well.
I was watching an old MSG show from 1981 and came across this match. I've had this show for a while but had never watched it. What a fun match.
The Moondogs were lunatics based on the Smokey Mountain shit I've seen. I just thought they were fat simpletons in the old WWE stuff. Nope, pure maniacs.
You gotta check out their Memphis stuff. Fucking ridiculous wild brawls.
Does every match in Japanese wrestling begin with ribbons and streamers covering the canvas?
my balls hurt
Gertner, what should he do?
Rest them on a block of ice
thanks
Jeff Jarrett looked so young and skinny in 1986...
They sold him as a nice young man who referee'd the matches then got his dick smashed by Bill Dundee and Buddy Landel. Feel like I love Double J even more now. |
Now Bill's doing his own commentary with Buddy and Dutch as he watches a clip of him wrestling Big Red Reese.
Guy's called Big Red and he wears green... Everything should be like this. Last match Bill body slams a guy on the concrete floor and the guy is fucked for the rest of the match. It's the simple things. |

Memphis Wrestling is so good
It's as violent and as absorbing as it gets. The ring work is so clearly defined too, if it's in the ring sell it a lot but outside act like you're dead.
The whole Dundee, Landel and Dutch gimmick is amazing. Two brawlers and a rassler, but even Landel and Dutch ain't rasslin much. As for Dundee... He just beats the fuck out of 'em. I also mark out for Tony Falk, the greatest jobber gimmick I have ever seen. I mean it. He comes in acting like a lanky Nature Boy, has back and forth fights then gets beaten by his own stupidity and arrogance every time. The reverse Goldberg. |
I tried to watch USWA but it is significantly worse quality despite it being newer. I suppose they were on VHS recording cameras by then and presumably a lower tape quality... it's bad and the camera angles look like shit too as if held by wankers.
Bret Hart did do an absolutely insane Deep South accent mocking Lawler in one of them though. I mean it was mental, he quotes Cool Hand Luke in a completely bonkers mock accent. I should have recorded it. |
I remember watching the final episode of USWA in my garage. It used to come on after Smokey Mountain Wresting
Tracy Smothers
You know who I like now? Jos LeDuc.
Did a sweet baseball slide into the corner after a whip, turned and got up immediately and plants the guy with a beast of a clothesline. Been trying to find the footage of him getting sledgehammer by Mongolian Stomper through a cinder lock but can't find it. The one Stomper ate looked pretty sore though. |

I liked his matches but didn't realise he was the reason they were good if you know what I mean? Like he just happened to be in good matches but I couldn't figure out why
Ahhhh.... I'm still a mark. I don't want to be smart to everything. |
Tracy Smothers man, in the ECW roster they talk about him like a legendary badass. I can believe it.
He was amazing in ECW. Those F.B.I skits still crack me up.

Watch this match. Second greatest in ring feud of the 80's in the WWF behind Tito vs Valentine. Awesome match.
I will when I get off this bus
