That was an awesome moment. There was a similar moment in Nova closer to the end of the Civil War stuff where Nova returns to Earth and talks to Stark and is just all like "WTF Dude. I was fighting a huge intergalactic war and just saved the universe... AND THIS IS WHAT YOU WERE DOING?!"

Fignuts 01-28-2010 01:17 AM

I read that too, but I was hoping for something a little more. He was too chill. I was hoping Iron man and his cronies would try to apprehend him for not registering, think "lol it's only nova" and then nova would assrape the lot of them. But alas....

Fignuts 01-28-2010 01:19 AM

That's how civil war should of ended. Nova flies down, and shoves a little bit of annihilus' intestines down everyones throats, for being such cocks.

DaveBrawl 01-28-2010 10:54 AM

Not a movie question but I imagine someone in here would know. Is there a complete collection of the Age of Apocalypse storyline available, or just the 4 book set? All this talk about the Civil War makes me want to go get that and the AOA but I can't seem to find it in one book, it seems strung out across like 6 books.

Fignuts 01-28-2010 01:28 PM

There's actually only 3. They are all pretty big tho, so splitting it up seems quite practical.

DaveBrawl 01-28-2010 02:33 PM

Yeah I was including the Dawn of the AOA and Twilight of the AOA books in there that I saw on Amazon this morning along with the 4 books they had listed. I just wanted to make sure those were all of it. Thanks.

I almost had the panels, but the photobucket site closed it down due to inactivity.

The part I had was where Thor was telling Tony that one of us is the God of Thunder (... And Rock n Roll!), while the other was a man in a metal suit. He also said that if any of his handlers went into Asgard, they'd learn what True Power was.

NO IRON MAN 2 SUPER BOWL COMMERCIAL

Hollywood studios are expected to run ads pushing seven different movies during Sunday’s Super Bowl, but Iron Man 2 won’t be among the beneficiaries of the $3 million 30-second spots that are seen by as many as 100 million people. Paramount is planning to buy ads for the Martin Scorsese-helmed Shutter Island (Tokyopop has the graphic novel) and the M. Night Shyamalan-directed The Last Airbender (Del Rey & Dark Horse have an array of tie-in titles), but Paramount has decided not to buy an ad for Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 2, which it did not produce, but is distributing.

According to Variety Disney has acquired several spots and is likely to spring for ads for Toy Story 3 and Alice in Wonderland, and perhaps the videogame-based Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Universal is expected to air ads for The Wolfman, which unspools on February 12th and Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood with Russell Crowe that is slated to debut on May 12th.

The exact number of movies that will be hyped at the Super Bowl is not known yet as the studios are being extremely reticent about their plans. There is probably still considerable in-house debate about which titles would benefit most from the massive exposure. Movie marketing is not an exact science--Super Bowl ads certainly didn’t keep Land of the Lost and Race to Witch Mountain from bombing last year.

Vastardikai 02-04-2010 06:07 PM

We won't see an Iron Man 2 ad for the Superbowl, but WILL see a BS Focus on the Family ad featuring the (possibly fabricated) story of Tim Tebow.

HeartBreakMan2k 02-04-2010 10:06 PM

I wouldn't spend that amount of money on Iron Man to be honest, why blow the money when you know the hype from the first movie will do all the work for you.

Kalyx triaD 02-04-2010 11:57 PM

Even though he has portrayed a younger Professor X (in X3's flashbacks as well as Wolverine), Patrick Stewart is pretty sure he won't be in this prequel/reboot, since they will want a younger Professor X and Magneto.

"The costume is a flag, but the way we're getting around that is we have Steve Rogers forced into the USO circuit," Johnston said. "After he's made into this super-soldier, they decide they can't send him into combat and risk him getting killed. He's the only one and they can't make more. So they say, 'You're going to be in this USO show' and they give him a flag suit. He can't wait to get out of it."

He added that "When he does go AWOL, he covers up the suit but then, after a few things happen, he realizes that this uniform allows him to lead. By then, he's become a star in the public mind and a symbol. The guys get behind him because he embodies something special."

Which leads to a new costume: "In the first USO sequences, the frustrated patriot will be wearing a version that is closer to the classic Jack Kirby-designed costume, but then later as the super-soldier hits the war zone he will be wearing a sturdier, more muted version that he makes himself that is more like battle togs. The stripes across his mid-section, for instance, will be straps, not colored fabric."

The director talking about how they'll explain Captain America's... colorful pride.

Fignuts 02-09-2010 05:25 AM

Not too shabby, I suppose.

Jeritron 02-09-2010 05:26 AM

I'm sure they'll go for the darker look too. Same basic scheme, but the blues and red will be much darker. Navy blue and darker red.
Just like they did with Spidey

Kalyx triaD 02-09-2010 05:31 AM

I thought for a moment they'd simply give him the current suit Bucky's wearing to make him 'hip', but it's cool that they're staying classic and explaining it. It may end up looking like the Ultimate version anyway (a reasonable variation).

Although if there's anything the Superman Returns and Spider-Man movies revealed to me, it's that people don't really question the logic behind the brighter stuff. I guess they're well aware what they paid to see. Still it's best to tackle in some sense, be it some justification (Superman's suit is the rocket ship's inner fabric), humor (X-Men's "yellow spandex" line), or straight logic (Batman Begins).

Jeritron 02-09-2010 05:38 AM

I was sort of skeptical about the choice of Joe Johnston, but I'm warming up to it. The stigma of Jurassic Park 3 is strong, but he has made some fun films otherwise. He seems like a cool dude

Pumped to see The Wolfman too. If that's really good I'll feel much better about the choice.

Yeah but Superman and Spider-man have the most iconic costumes in all of comics. When you think comics, even if you don't read them, you think superman and spider-man. Nobody questions using the bright stuff in live action, because thats what everyone expects.

Regency is developing a new Daredevil film, according to Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood. David Scarpa (The Day the Earth Stood Still) is writing the script, according to the report.

The first Daredevil movie was released in 2003 and starred Ben Affleck in the title role with Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Colin Farrell as Bullseye and the pre-Iron Man Jon Favreau as Foggy Nelson. It did $102 million in U.S. box office.

Rammsteinmad 02-09-2010 04:27 PM

Cool. I really liked Daredevil, VERY underrated film. It was loyal to the source material and generally well acted by everyone. Hopefully this will be a sequel rather than a reboot. Even if it doesn't have Ben Afflect in it.

Kalyx triaD 02-09-2010 10:55 PM

After seeing The Dark Knight I was thinking a Daredevil film, thematically, should have a similar tone.

Jeritron 02-09-2010 11:24 PM

Jon Kano 02-09-2010 11:42 PM

Shadow 02-10-2010 12:57 AM

I don't know why it gets so much crap like it does. Daredevil wasn't that bad a movie. Electra was crap. And really I think the only real gripe that everyone had was Kingpin being black. But really...it was a good casting decision I thought. I dunno.

Rammsteinmad 02-10-2010 05:35 PM

Michael Clarke Duncan did a great job as Kingpin.

Everyone was well cast in that film. Ben Affleck seems to get a loada shit all the time, but I thought he did a great job as Matt Murdock.

parkmania 02-10-2010 05:48 PM

Sony has announced that its reboot of Spider-Man (see “Columbia to Reboot Spider-Man”) will be produced in 3D for release on July 3, 2012, according to the Hollywood trades. Once the studio moved off its May 2011 dates and committed to a new director and cast, it was just a question of when a new script would be agreed upon and production scheduled.

A script by James Vanderbilt, based on Bendis’ and Bagley’s Ultimate Spider-Man story of the high school Peter Parker, is planned as the basis of the new production (see “Ultimate Spider-Man Inspires New Film”).

The 3D announcement is undoubtedly one of many more that will be made in the wake of the $2 billion+ Avatar juggernaut.

Jon Kano 02-10-2010 05:58 PM

It's a sad day.

Kalyx triaD 02-10-2010 06:39 PM

I don't think the age of the franchise is ever really the issue. I think it's the years between the last installment, and the new start.

There was only 8 years between Batman & Robin and Batman Begins. That was plenty of time.

If this ends up coming out in 2012, that's a difference of 5 years. Maybe by then people will be ready. Still, it feels like those few years make a difference.
I dunno, perhaps production will get held up a bit. That seems to always be the case with superhero movies anyways.

In any event, I'm over it. I'm sure everyone will be ready to go give another Spiderman movie a chance by then.
In fact, I think 99% of the people complaining would go see it tomorrow if given the chance. I know I would

Even though it was before the internet, there was a HUGE backlash of complaints and mockery for Michael Keaton being cast as Batman.
People were writing into newspapers and the studio and everything. He was known as Mr. Mom.

Then the trailer came out and everyone shut up

Kalyx triaD 02-25-2010 09:35 PM

Dunno, I've always thought the sentry was a really interesting character. Part of what has been great about him, is that every time he starts to feel just a little bit stale, they throw you another curveball, be it his wife trying to kill him, or his methhead origins.

He's gonna die in siege, I think. although I can't imagine how, since not even the Molecule Man could take him out.

Steve might be dressing as Cap just for Siege, after that he lets Bucky be Cap while he does espionage type shit, with Nick Fury or something.
