Just watched Justice League Crisis on Two Earths. It's hilarious how Superman and Batman always get their asses kicked until the last few seconds of the fight.

Looks like trash. Don't know why they couldn't have done something a bit more traditional. Throw some black in there. Not a fan on the "veins" either. Ryan Reynolds also definitely looking more like Kyle Rayner than Hal Jordan.

But perhaps this all green "veiny" look is only for when he is all MAXIMUM POWER? One can hope. Like maybe it looks different when he's just standing around, but when he's doing some heavy green-power stuff he starts to become all green like that. Not likely, but as I said, one can hope.

Furthermore.... There's a new Buffy?

Jeritron 07-15-2010 02:07 PM

The real question is what does an entirely CGI suit look like in action. It's one thing to render it for a studio still picture and touch it up for a magazine cover. It flying around on screen, on a living actor, is another question.
I'm curious to see some footage.

alvarado52 07-15-2010 04:23 PM

Holyshit that thing is ugly. Might look better in motion, but damn, ive seen better photoshop jobs.

That is FAR too much green.

Dunno, but I liked DG a whole lot more.

The art in DG was done by Joe Madeiura(sp?) so I know that was different.

according to Wiki
Quote:

Campbell is best known as the original artist and co-creator of Genął and Danger Girl.

In 1998, Campbell, together with fellow comics artists Joe Madureira and Humberto Ramos, founded the Cliffhanger imprint as part of Wildstorm Productions. He then launched his comic series Danger Girl through this imprint. The story, which followed the adventures of a group of female secret agents, made the most of Campbell's talents drawing well-endowed women and dramatic action sequences.

Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen was CGI added on later. The actor wore a mocap suit.

Jeritron 07-16-2010 01:58 AM

Yes, but Dr. Manhattan is pretty stagnant. He is either standing around being melancholy or floating into a room and doing all of his damage without flexing any muscle.
Green Lantern will see a lot more movement and action.

Funky Fly 07-16-2010 02:01 AM

Jeritron 07-16-2010 02:03 AM

Funky Fly 07-16-2010 02:04 AM

Probably for the best. Since it glows in the dark, we could probably see it through Silk Spectre's body when he'd be taxing it

Jeritron 07-16-2010 02:08 AM

Tastes like a battery

Jeritron 07-16-2010 02:09 AM

I don't even think that picture of Green Lantern looks bad, for the record. I just have suspcisions that it might look "a bit shit" when it's in motion. Going as far as to CGI the mask seems a trifle uneccessary

Funky Fly 07-16-2010 02:52 AM

They're gonna have to spend assloads on it or it'll look like Iceman in X3.

Lock Jaw 07-16-2010 12:06 PM

Looking at it again, I dunno if I'm just fooling myself, but it looks like the arm has hints of black, and also hints of white around the hand (glove). Everything is just bathed in green light in the pic, so its kinda hard to tell.

Smallville 10 SDCC Notes:

* Moderator Geoff Johns announced that he will again be writing an episode this season, and revealed it would introduce Blue Beetle and Booster Gold. Asked which Blue Beetle it would be, Johns said we'd see Jaime Reyes and Skeets, and added, "And you might even see Ted Kord."

* Darkseid will indeed be in Season 10, though executive producer Brian Peterson said he'd be, "In a little different form than you're used to. Hopefully you'll like it."

* Now that Lois knows Clark is The Blur, Erica Durance joked, "She can use it against him later, I think. That's a true woman. " She continued, "[She has] the opportunity to have a little power over Clark, which is nice for Lois – and yet still protect him and encourage him to be the hero that he is." She smiled and added, "Then she'll get impatient and say, 'What's up?'"

* Will Clark wear the iconic red and blue suit this year? All Peterson would say was, "Tom is in a little different change up from the black suit last year."

* Of course, the question of whether Lex Luthor would return came up from an audience member. They had no definitive answer, but executive producer Kelley Souders said, "Nothing would make me happier than to have Rosey back." She added, "If you want him back, let him know," to the audience – who cheered loudly, showing that yes indeed, they'd like to see Rosenbaum back on the show.

* As to whether Clark will fly finally, Peterson simply said, "Well we all know how the comics turn out, so I think that's probably the answer for that."

* When the producers were asked if they had anything on their "bucket list" they wanted to include in Season 10, Kelly Souders noted, "You'll see some very handpicked images all through the season and it will all culminate in the finale." Peterson said they threw a lot of big images/moments they'd wanted to do for awhile in the show's 200th episode, airing this fall.

* Other introductions will include, "a couple of characters from the Suicide Squad and some of Darkseid's harbingers," according to Souders.

Brandon Routh, who was probably the best part of Superman Returns (although Kevin Spacey's gonzo Gene Hackman impression was pretty fun), says he'd love to return to the role in the Nolan brothers' movie. He says he's aware of the groundswell of support for him on the internet, and now he wants to generate a "tsunami of support" for his return.
Let this happen.

Yeah he was. He reminded me of Christopher Reeve at certain points as Superman.

His Clark Kent tho needs to improve.

McLegend 07-29-2010 02:50 PM

Being a good Clark is paramount to being Superman, and his Clark not good. If he was good he could have possibly saved Superman Returns.

Also he's going to be almost 10 years older by the time this movie gets released or even made so that has to play factor.

Nowhere Man 07-29-2010 05:21 PM

I thought Routh did pretty well considering what he was given (i.e. just pretend to be Christopher Reeve for a couple of hours). I wouldn't mind him getting another crack at playing the Big Blue Boy Scout, but only if it matches what the Nolan crew has in mind for the script. Like, if he's supposed to be an experienced hero at this point, then yeah, it'd work. But if it's another origin story (which sounds like it's the case), then they should get a new guy, maybe throw Routh in for a cameo.

rated rjo 07-29-2010 05:52 PM

They need to just go balls to the wall and not worry about casting someone who looks like Christopher Reeve.

Batman's New Suit (in the books):

http://comicsmedia.ign.com/comics/im...0105232743.jpg

Old is new again. This coincides with the upcoming Batman Inc series, which will more than likely launch a new team based on Bruce's new found principles.

Nowhere Man 08-10-2010 07:03 PM

Hmmm....I gotta say, I don't mind it. Having two bat-logos right there on the front seems a little redundant, but whatever. At least it's better than Wonder Woman's retarded new outfit.

Also, Superman/Batman Apocalypse looks bad-ass. Though it's definitely got a tough act to follow after Under the Red Hood.

Kalyx triaD 08-10-2010 09:34 PM

To be honest, it doesn't stand a chance against Red Hood. However, the story may have a broader appeal and Kevin Conroy is great oppisite Tim Daly. Summer Glau is fairly genius casting for Kara (and she could have made a great live-action rendition). I feel like Darksied's been miscast but I'll trust Andrea Romano on this.

Did you fucking see the team behind Spectacular Spidey? That's gonna be the greatest cartoon ever. Probably should take this to the Marvel thread but damn.

Nowhere Man 08-11-2010 10:28 PM

Spectacular Spidey is easily my favorite superhero cartoon of all time (even moreso than Batman: the Animated Series---yeah, I said it), and I will never stop hating Marvel and Disney for canceling the show.

That being said, Young Justice looks fucking sick. I'm glad Weisman was able to jump right onto another ambitious project like that.

Jeritron 08-18-2010 04:23 PM

Green Lantern has a lot of out there (arguably goofy) shit. It looks like they're going to try to fit a lot of it in this first movie, and go pretty colorful and fantastical with it.
Curious to see how that works. It certainly has potential to turn a lot of people off and get blasted.
I figured they'd go more of the route the first Iron Man did

Eh, I never really liked the Ultimate Spidey comics, and I'm not too crazy about the concept they were talking about, with it being a big 'team-up' series like Brave and the Bold. Plus, I will automatically hold a grudge against it because Spectacular got canceled specifically to make this show. But yeah, the Man of Action crew does a great job, so I'm sure Ultimate will be quality shit.

When Laura Vandervoort returns for maybe the last time in the Oct. 8 episode, we'll see her in something like her Supergirl costume. Says exec producer Kelly Souders:

"You really see her as Supergirl. Not the whole outfit, but her wardrobe will have evolved even a little more than Clark's. She's less Kara and way more Supergirl."

And Kara puts on her superheroic new outfit for a photoshoot when she becomes a media darling after a heroic save that reveals to the world that she can fly. And to protect her superheroic identity, she'll start wearing a brown wig and glasses in public when she's not being Supergirl. Maybe Clark will see this and, it'll give him some ideas?

Gray 08-24-2010 09:11 PM

In the Smallville series they have put glasses on Clarke about 3-4 times, and it has only been for singular scenes, i find it hard to see how they're going to make Clarke into more Superman in this new season, especially as he has been in Metropolis for quite a few years now...

...Same goes for Kara, while people may not recognise her in Metropolis, she stll didn't have any type of disguise during the seasons that she was present. Probably the only two people who might know who she is though would be Lois (Unless they plan to wipe her memory.. again) and Lex, should he return in some form...

LuigiD 08-25-2010 02:24 AM

dronepool 09-18-2010 11:47 PM

My only issue with it was Darkseids voice.

Lock Jaw 09-18-2010 11:49 PM

Yeah, I found it strange at first, but then by the end I was loving it.

If any voice I found strange, it was Granny Goodness' man voice.

Shadow 09-19-2010 03:15 PM

Granny Goodness was voiced by Ed Asner in JLU....what's the problem?

Lock Jaw 09-19-2010 03:22 PM

I don't remember that then. And its weird because Granny Goodness is supposed to be a female.

Kalyx triaD 09-19-2010 03:36 PM

Ed Asner is awesome as Goodness.

However, something about the voice work seemed rushed. And they adapted the book near verbatim with one extra scene and a few extra one-liners. Public Enemies took many more liberties and it worked for the most part. Here the scenes seem disjointed and the story-boards were not constructed to make up for it.

Daly and (understandably) Conroy didn't seem as in to it, despite Asner and Glau doing good work. Darkseid was good in hindsight, but I really kept expecting Ironside's menacing arrogance. As you said you do get used to it.

Overall good work, loved the Furies and the Amazon scenes. And Diana's always cooler than you'd think she'd be. The comics rarely get her right.

I have to say, Wonder Woman is much better in animated form than she ever is in the comics. Maybe it's just because the animated series and movies actually showcase how awesome she's supposed to be in a fight. And also because they rarely ever use any of WW's villains, who are all pretty lame with the exception of Ares.

I didn't remember most of what happened in the comics. So...

SPOILER: show
When Darkseid busted out of Superman's parent's house, I legit marked out.

This is just fangasm stuff:

Congrats, Smallville—you have outdone yourself! For the show’s 10th and final season, producers have scored perhaps their biggest (maybe even the biggest possible) casting coup: They’ve snagged erstwhile Lois Lane Teri Hatcher to play mom to Erica Durance’s Lois Lane!
While Lois' mother is dead, Hatcher will appear as her through some means.

Wonder if that is just another superjump like he did with Doomsday (Still say that was a jump, not flying!)

Only a few days left now...

Kalyx triaD 09-22-2010 07:10 PM

I must be the only guy who loves that he never flew all this time. It makes those moments where he did epic (the episode where he wasn't himself).

When does the Batman Year One animated movie come out? That's the next one they're doing right?

I loved Under the Red Hood so much I wish they'd do as many as possible.
I think Hush, Dark Knight Returns, Long Halloween, and plenty of other Batman GNs are do-able in the style of Under the Red Hood.

Lock Jaw 09-23-2010 01:40 AM

They've got two coming out before Batman: Year One.

They've got All-Star Superman and then Green Lantern: Emerald Knights which is apparently an anthology about various GLs.

I can't wait for All Star Superman. I love Grant Morrison and I look forward to seeing what they can do with the film.

Jeritron 09-23-2010 12:51 PM

I meant just Batman, not all of DC, but thank you. Any word on the next Batman project after Year One?

So Zack Snyder is on the top of the short list for director on Superman. Other candidates are Duncan Jones (Moon), Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) and Jon Liebsman (Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning)

Moon was incredible so maybe Duncan Jones is the right choice, but for some reason I'm really feeling Zack Snyder on it.
As long as the script and casting is correct he could probably pull it off well.
Not a big fan of 300, but I ate Watchmen up.

Cool trailer, bro.

I must laugh at their choice of using music from the Batman Begins score for a Superman movie trailer, though.

Fignuts 09-23-2010 10:26 PM

Dunno. I'm sure it will be enjoyable, but it seems to me like something would get lost in animating All-Star Superman. Quietly's art suited that so well, but it really only works on the page. Which is kind of a moot point, since the animation takes nothing from quietly's work, as opposed to Public Enemies which had hints of McGuiness' style in there.

Going off the trailer, it just doesn't seem to have the "charm" that really made All-Star Superman special.

Nowhere Man 09-24-2010 09:27 PM

I'm really looking forward to All-Star Superman, as the comic is honestly my absolute favorite Superman story of all time. However, I do think that it's going to lose some of its retro-Silver Age charm without Frank Quitely's art style. Still, should be miles ahead of any of the other Superman movies they've done (Brainiac Attacks was horrendous, and while the fights in Doomsday were great, the rest of it was pretty meh)
